It was hard to believe it had already been a year since Aaron graduated from Hogwarts. He was fresh out of school, bright-face and clean-shaven...with no future plans for his life. He had never had any real aspirations in school, where he coasted by on average grades and excellent social skills. Luckily, he had landed a job at The Three Broomsticks fairly quickly, and that was where he spent most of his days, mixing drinks and bussing tables for Hogsmeade's villagers. What he really enjoyed were Saturdays. On Saturdays, he could see all of his old school friends when they came to Hogsmeade for their weekly visits. It was great to catch up and laugh with his friends without the stress of classes to hold him down. Sure, it was a little disheartening to hear them talk about their future plans to be cursebreakers and astronomers, but he didn't really mind. He was just happy to have the company.
Aaron was in the midst of cleaning off a table at work when he heard the merry tinkling of the bell attached to the front door that signaled someone had entered. He threw the towel he was using over his shoulder and walked back to the bar, slipping behind it and grabbing his trusty tumbler. "Welcome to The Three Broomsticks. How can I help you?" he asked the person entering.

Jess was a sixth year at Hogwarts and enjoying every second of it. She got along with practically everyone she spoke to, did well in all her classes and everything just seemed to be going right. She loved the world of magic and all the opportunities it brought into her life. Granted, having magic didn't change the fact that what she really wanted to do after school was write. That had been her goal since she was a little child, and a part of her was glad she still wanted it. The thing that had changed was what she wanted to write. Before, she wanted to write about football and other sports in England, but now it was Quidditch. She loved the sport! Playing it and watching it, Jess enjoyed every second.
This weekend, however, she was taking a break from Quidditch and everything. Nothing was wrong, she just felt like she needed a breather. So she made her way down to Hogsmeade on her own, walking into the Three Broomsticks and making her way to the bar. She was too young to really drink- not that she wanted to- but she loved Butterbeer. She smiled at the guy behind the bar. "Just some Butterbeer please," she said simply, moving to sit on one of the stools. Normally she would go for a booth, but that was when she wasn't on her own. Today was different.

Aaron perked up when he saw who entered. Jess was a member of his house, even though she was a few years younger than him. He watched with an amused smile as she sat down at the bar and ordered a butterbeer, not paying a lick of attention as to who she was ordering it from. It should have hurt Aaron's feelings that she didn't recognize him, but he thought it was funny. Plenty of people that he knew from school walked right past him while he was at work, but never anyone from his house. They always at least said hello.
Aaron went to work fixing her drink, pouring it carefully as he had been taught to prevent excess foam. He carried the mug back to the bar, careful not to spill a single drop, and placed it before Jess, letting it clatter on the bar to attract her attention. He leaned across the bar and grinned at her. "Jess," he said with his Brazilian lilt, "it's me. Aaron? From school?" he said, hoping that she would finally recognize him.

Jess found herself distracted as the guy left to get her drink for her. What had her in such a strange mood today? It wasn't really normal for her to want to be so alone like this. She wasn't depressed or in any arguments with anyone, she just wanted to be alone and enjoy some peace and quiet. That wasn't a bad thing, was it? She sat there as she waited, actually thinking about her mood and trying to figure out what exactly caused it, to no avail.
She jumped slightly when a mug was placed loudly in front of her. Her eyes darted up to the bartender and she paused when she recognized those eyes. And that voice. He said her name, reminding her of his own and Jess grinned, shaking her head in surprise. "Aaron! Hi!" She blushed a little, embarrassed she hadn't recognized him. "Sorry, I was ... distracted. I know who you are. How have you been?" Sure, she came here wanting solitude, but reuniting with an old friend was better than being alone, wasn't it?
