“No. Not even a little bit.” Bern felt like he couldn’t get the words out fast enough when the woman asked if he liked his job. Not one little bit. Bern would take literally any job over working at his family's restaurant right now. However, he knew he wouldn’t get out of the job. It was as good as an obligation. He couldn’t leave his family without help. The business was an ‘all hands on deck’ type of establishment and Bern would never dream of leaving his family on a limb without at least enough warning. “But that’s just me. My siblings don’t mind it as much as I do. I think it’s mostly because I’m a vegetarian that I hate working there so much.” he told her. She liked music, but admitted to not being much of a singer herself. Except for on her own. “Yeah, I suppose I sing in the shower, but my bathroom can’t tell me shut up so I’m not sure if it counts.” he laughed with her. “A little of both. I play with friends sometimes, the few that i have that play music. Some of the Hufflepuff boys,” he admitted. However, they hadn’t played together in a while since Zander was gone. He sometimes played with Brandon, and he was pretty sure they had finally convinced Lance to take up some type of instrument and play with them.

Anna was a little surprised when Bernard said he didn't like his job at all. For a moment she didn't know what to say to him, but that seemed like it was only natural, considering how vehemently he'd answered her questions. He paused and then explained a little bit more, saying he was a vegetarian and that was why he didn't like it. "Oh," she said after a moment, "Well I'm sorry about that." Anna had no idea what else to say. She assumed he did it because it was a family job, even though he didn't like it. Then he started talking about singing and Anna smiled, feeling the tension sort of slip away a bit. "Exactly," she agreed to his comment about his bathroom not being able to tell him to stop singing. He went on to explain that he played with friends sometimes and Anna smiled, "That sounds like fun. Do you guys just mess around a bit or do you have an actual band or something?" Anna couldn't help but be curious.

Bern began to feel like he had let himself vent a little too much to the Hogwarts Champion, especially since he had rarely talked to her before and they weren’t exactly friends or on a venting level with each other. Their relationship was strictly friendly acquaintances and Bern wasn’t sure how he had got so serious in the conversation. “It’s fine. It’s just one of those things.” Bern shrugged, shrugging off the conversation and the venting when he did. He wasn’t entirely sure what the phrase meant in his case, and he probably didn’t need to know. She would understand. She seemed like a pretty understanding person. Anna also seemed interested in his music, which surprised him a little. Bern always saw music as just a hobby, just something to do in his spare time. But more and more recently he was beginning to think seriously about it. “Right now we’re just messing around. There’s been talk of something more serious but everyone’s kind of going their own ways this summer so I’m not really sure.” And he and Lance would be the only ones still in school, so finding time was going to be difficult when the next year started.

She nodded when he said it was one of those things, feeling like he probably didn't want to talk about this anymore. She could understand that. She had a hard time around family in general, other than her sister, and so she wouldn't want to work forever with her parents. It didn't sound like Bern didn't get along with his family, just that he was tired of the restaurant. Still, Anna decided to let it go, not wanting to make him feel uncomfortable talking to her. She smiled as he started to explain a little bit about his music, but didn't really know what to say about it. "Well, if your band ends up going somewhere or playing somewhere over the summer, let me know. It would be fun to hear you play." That and she just loved music, so she'd love the excuse to get to hear some new stuff over the summer. Anna sighed, feeling like she probably took too much of his time already. "Well, I should probably get going. I'm supposed to meet someone in just a little bit. It was really nice to talk to you though." She smiled, hoping he wouldn't mind that she had to get going.
@bern (go ahead and end it!)

Bern didn’t feel uncomfortable talking to her, it was actually quite the opposite. It almost saw her as a hero, as someone to look up to. She had won the triwizard tournament, something Bern had wanted to enter but was unable to due to his age at the time. She was the strongest of the student witches and he felt like talking to her was like talking to an old friend, which was odd since they had only spoken on a few occasions before this. But he started to get weird when he let too many feelings out. He was very much a surface level conversationalist. Which was why he preferred jokes and light hearted comments to full, in depth conversations. “Sure, I don’t want to keep you. I’m sure life is busy for a Champion.” he insisted, casting a teasing smile and giving a little laugh to back it up. Bern continued to sit there as the red headed girl walked away.
