Benji didn't really care for coming to Club Indigo, but it was always good to go to a party place that wasn't his work. Even when he was off duty at Gambling Galleons he still felt like he was working. In a way he always was, since his job was to watch his surroundings and make sure that everything was safe. But tonight, he was at Club Indigo, just here to have a little fun and maybe loosen up from a busy week at the Galleons. He smoked a cigarette out front to loosen up before tossing it aside and slipping into the casino. He tried to dress casual but dark, not really wanting to stand out. He wandered for a bit before he made his way to the bar. "Bourbon," he ordered, nodding at the bartender. @aerick

Another night at Club Indigo, another slew of interesting stories for Aerick Adler to regale to....his journal. Clodagh was not the type to be out and about at night, or anytime after sundown really. Luckily with the summer coming, the daylight hours in London were getting longer and longer, and in the warmer air meant more fun activities for the two of them to do together. There was still something she was hiding though, and he wanted to know what it was. Then again, he kept secrets of his own; being a Purifier among the top of them. Add in that he was a python animagus and a father to a four year old well, he let Clodagh keep to herself after dark. He had just finished seerving a group of girls vodka sodas, knowing full well they were going to end up with the group of men that had been oogling them all night before turning his attention to the bearded man in front of him. He was surprised; he recognized at least vaguely every single patron of Club Indigo. But this guy? He had never seen him before in his life. "Coming right up," he said, grabbing a bourbon glass and filling it with ice before pouring him a bourbon. He slid it over to the man. "You new around these parts?" he asked him. @benji

The 'tender said it was coming right up and Benji nodded gratefully. He lifted the glass to tip it toward the man once it was in his hand before taking a gentle sip as the man asked if he was new. He shook his head, setting the glass down but still holding onto it. "I just haven't been to Club Indigo, often. I work for the Gambling Galleons," he explained. It was a different setting, for sure. Galleons didn't have a hotel and it wasn't as large as Indigo was. It was possible that this guy might not have even been there before. "This is a nice place. You like working here? Not trying to steal you, promise, just making conversation," he chuckled, realizing that this could have sounded like some awkward ruse to go into other businesses and steal their employees. He didn't want to do that, of course. He liked the team they had and there was no reason to mess with someone else's business dynamic. Plus, most bartenders became very at home in their workplaces and if they didn't like it they'd leave on their own accord. @aerick

Aerick nodded in acknowledgement that he had heard of the Gambling Galleons Casino. It hadn't been open for very long, but Aerick had been meaning to check the place out. "Yeah I've heard of it. What do you do there?" he asked as he flicked his wand under the bar to wash a few glasses and started to towel dry them. Aerick got a few pockets of slowness at the bar, where he liked to get the dishes done for the next wave of thirsty customers. Using magic only sped along the process. "It's not bad, it makes the night fly by and the tips are great," he commented, then chuckled. "Well, for me at least," he admitted. After five years as a bartender he knew exactly when and how to turn on that New York charm and snag a couple extra pounds in tips from it. "It works out though, the girl I've been seeing isn't a fan of the nighttime, so it's not like I'd be spending it doing anything productive," he added, still wondering why Clo wouldn't go out in the dark. Oh well, it wasn't as if this stranger would have the answer or anything. @benji

The guy asked what he did there and Benji didn't see any reason to be secretive. His job was his job, "head of security," he said, lifting his glass again to take another sip of his bourbon. He sighed contentedly into that sip. It was a good one. He nodded as the guy talked about his job. "Ah, so you don't have to worry about her missing you while you're working. I have that advantage too, but in the sense that I don't have anyone I'm seeing," he chuckled. That really did make his job quite a bit easier, though it did get lonely at times. He liked companionship. But he had his siblings, friends, and Bella, what else did he need? "You American, then?" he asked, nodding toward the guy as if he could 'gesture' to his accent. "Love America. Beautiful places there."@aerick

Aerick chuckled and nodded; most people could easily tell from his accent that he was American, though when he had had a couple of rounds, he did have a lilt of an English accent from living in the country for five years. He knew part of his charm was the accent; it worked as easily as English accents did for Americans. Not that he was complaining of course. “Yeah, Brooklyn specifically. New York,” he told the other man. “My mother works for MACUSA, so it was just easier on her to live in the city she worked in, not to mention how much she loves it there,” he added, shrugging nonchalantly. His mother had always loved the city; though they did not interact much with No-Majs per their laws, she still would take him to museums and Broadway shows whenever he was home. His mother had believed that they should all have a basic understanding of No-Maj fascinations, even though they weren’t to interact with them. That was all of course before his fathers betrayal; Aerick wondered if his mother had even stepped foot in a theatre since then.
Aerick’s attention was grabbed by a young woman in a shirt far too tight for her, hollering for shots. Aerick rolled his eyes good naturedly at Benji, then went to serve the girl. Once she had tottered off with her drinks, Aerick returned to Benji. There was something about the man, something familiar but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it. “What about you? You from around here?” he asked.

The guy spoke about how he was from Brooklyn and Benji grinned, "New York is a wonderful place. I am not surprised your mother loves it there," he said. He remembered the last time eh was in New York. He watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and just thought it was the most adorable thing. He knew it was an incredibly touristy thing to do, but he didn't mind. He was a tourist there, after all. He enjoyed the ferrys, too, but he enjoyed those wherever he was travelling. He enjoyed travelling by water much more than by air. Benji turned toward the sound of the loud girl in the tight shirt just as Aerick did, then nodded his understanding as Aerick left to serve her. Benji chuckled, looking up at Aerick as he came back. "Born in Pakistan. But I was adopted at age two and my family never really settled on a place to call home," he explained, "some of my siblings went to Hogwarts, though. I chose to stay with my parents and be homeschooled."@aerick (theheh we're getting closer to Clo)

Aerick chuckled. “She was born and raised in the Upper East Side, but moved to Brooklyn after she graduated to get a feel for the more...hipster lifestyle? I think that’s what they call it at least.” He shrugged, not really getting the comparison. “Anyway, I loved growing up there; it has the big city feel but is a little more...neighborly if that makes sense,” he explained. Not for the first time did he feel the dulled pain of homesickness in the pit of his stomach. He couldn’t go home yet though, not before he faced his father. He would not go home a failure, regardless of his mothers pleas. “London is pretty nice though, they love their Christmastime. Go straight from Halloween to Christmas, though I suppose since Thanksgiving is an American holiday that makes sense,” he commented. Aerick raised a brow ever so slightly as Benji described his own background. It sounded oddly familiar, sort of like Clodaghs’ own experience. He wouldn’t jump to conclusions though, as Clo had never mentioned if any of her brothers were adopted, and Benji had not mentioned his parents professions. “That’s interesting. Do you ever regret being homeschooled instead of going to Hogwarts?” he asked, his curiosity peaking. He had never been to the legendary Hogwarts castle, having gone to Ilvermorny, but he had always been curious about what it was like there. It was odd to him that someone would make a choice to NOT go to the school over going, so he wanted to know the reasoning behind it. @benji

Benji laughed when he mentioned the 'hipster lifstyle'. Benji felt that he was a part of that movement himself, in a lot of ways. He nodded as Aerick spoke about enjoying his American life, but then spoke about London instead. "I always liked being in America during Thanksgiving. Done it three or four times. Excellent Holiday," he said, showing that he understood why Aerick perhaps missed it. "Christmas is lovely, too. Definitely my style," bright lights, many parties, drinks and being dressed to the nines? That was his jam. Aerick asked if he regretted being homeschool at any point, to which Benji shook his head. "No, not a bit. I was very happy with my education and my travelling experiences. I enjoy making friends as an adult and staying in touch with childhood friends from many places," he explained. It was a charmed life. @aerick

Aerick chuckled at Benji’s Thanksgiving comment. “Yeah, I miss it for sure sometimes. But my boss here gives me Thanksgiving off as a paid holiday since I’m American, so I get to find a pub serving Thanksgiving dinner around the area to eat at,” he explained. It turned out there were a lot of ex Patriots in London who couldn’t afford to go back to America for Thanksgiving, so certain bars or restaurants offered up a Thanksgiving dinner for them to enjoy a home-cooked meal without feeling too homesick. Aerick had no idea why they did it but he enjoyed it immensely. Christmas however, took the cake for Aerick, and he was pretty excited that, barring everything continued to go as well as it had been, to be spending Christmas with Clodagh this coming year. “Christmas is my preferred holiday of choice,” Aerick admitted with a small smile. He really liked the idea of sharing holidays with his girlfriend. He could call her that now right? They’d been dating for quite some time now, and he thought of her as his girlfriend. He even had stopped sleeping with other people because all he wanted was Clo. Aerick nodded thoughtfully at Benji’s comment about not regretting being homeschooled. “That’s good. Have you met a lot of folks from other schools aside from Hogwarts and Ilvermorny?” he asked, curious about the man’s travels. He couldn’t shake the feeling that his life sounded vaguely similar to Clo’s. It was possible of course that this man knew Clodagh, but he didn’t want to ask that question just yet. @benji

Aerick said he missed Thanksgiving sometimes, but that his boss gave him the day off as a paid holiday. "That is incredibly ind of them. Maybe we should throw a dinner sometime, show these people what it's like," he chuckled. Actually a 'friendsgiving' could be incredibly fun. Maybe if he made better friends with this guy... "I'd also be interested to know where those pubs are. Glad there are some around," he wasn't surprised, really. London was pretty friendly with all kinds of people. "Christmas is the best, agreed," Benji said with a nod. Aerick asked if he'd met people outside of the American and English schools, "I have, yeah. A lot of different people. We traveled so much I can barely count how many schools my friends have gone to. I've met the most from Hogwarts, though, because my siblings have a lot of friends from there," he explained. "I bet you meet a lot of Hogwarts people, working here? Maybe you'd know my family. Though, I can't see my sisters coming here," he chuckled, "know any Fitzpatricks?"@aerick (i'm not sorry)

Aerick grinned. “You’re on,” he said, agreeing to Benji’s Thanksgiving dinner idea. That would be fun, plus then he could cook for Clodagh a perfect turkey dinner. He wondered if anyone in her family were chefs; he knew that both of her parents were magizoologists, but they had never really discussed cooking before. Most of their dates had been out, except for the last one which had ended at his apartment, so there hadn’t been much time for elaborately cooked meals. Aerick liked to consider himself a good cook; both of his parents had never had time for cooking when he was growing up, so he taught himself how to cook. His first roommate when he had moved to London had been a great cook too, so he’d had plenty of opportunities. “I’d be happy to take you on a night off; the girl I’m seeing doesn’t like to go out at night so I’m free,” he told the other man. It’d be fun to go out with someone new that (to his knowledge) wasn’t affiliated with the Purifiers. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d gone to a pub with a guy friend and just...chilled. Aerick was in the middle of taking a sip of water when Benji asked if he knew any Fitzpatricks, and nearly choked on the sip. He coughed, banging his fist into his solar plexus to clear his throat. “Fitzpatricks a pretty common name, there probably have been several coming and going from here,” he started, then scratched the back of his head. “Actually...that girl I’ve been seeing’s last name is Fitzpatrick. We didn’t meet here though, we sort of...ran into each other, literally, in the street.” Aerick chuckled at the memory; that certainly hadn’t been the way he thought he would have started off his morning. Now he wouldn’t trade that for anything. “Her name is Clodagh. Clodagh Fitzpatrick,” he added. “Know her?” he asked hesitantly. @benji never be sorry

Aerick liked the Thankgiving idea, which made Benji grinned. It was nice to make new friends. Aerick said he could take him to one of the pubs on a night off, mentioning the girl he was seeing not going out at night. Benji raised an eyebrow at that, but brushed it aside. "Sounds like a plan," he agreed. He wondered about this girl, though. He only knew a small handful of girls like that, one of them being his sister Clo. In fact, no one was weirder about it then her. Aerick nearly choked on his water when Benji asked if he knew any Fitzpatricks. He chuckled, waiting for the bartender to recover. He said the girl he was seeing had the same last name, and from his comment earlier about going out at night Benji already knew what he was going to say, and his eyes grew wide, his face burning red. "That sounds like her," Benji said after a moment, in reference to running into Aerick in the street. "That's my little sister," he said, letting out a loud laugh. "I never thought she'd date anyone," he laughed even harder. @aerick

Aerick’s fear was confirmed as he watched Benji’s face turn a shade of red. Of course out of all the people to walk into Club Indigo for Aerick to serve it HAD to be one of Clo’s siblings. To be fair, she had a lot of them so the fact that he hadn’t run into one of them before was quite surprising. Then, Benji mentioned how running into someone sounded just like Clodagh, and Aerick could not help but join in on the laughter. “It was quite amusing if I do say so myself,” he agreed, grinning. “I wasn’t in the greatest of moods; I had gotten off my night shift and it had been a rough night to say the least. I almost snapped but then…” Aerick shrugged. He didn’t need to verbally say that he had been taken by her beauty immediately, which was why he hadn’t been snide to her. Benji probably could figure that one out on his own. Aerick scratched the back of his neck as Benji men. “Oh? How come?” he asked, rather curious. They hadn’t gotten to the point of talking about past relationships, which was why his daughter hadn’t come into discussions yet. He wondered why Benji would say something like that; obviously they had known each other their entire lives, so he would know better than Aerick at this point. @benji

Aerick laughed along with him, saying that it was amusing when Clo ran into him. Benjis laugh died down as he listened to Aerick explain that he had a rough night, and how he almost snapped 'but then..' That made Benji smile. That meant it was probably a pretty cute moment, if Benji was watching as a third party. He couldn't help but feel a little glee at the thought that some guy thought his sister wasn't worth yelling at, probably because she was pretty and nice. Aerick asked why Benji didn't think Clo would date anyone and he shrugged. "She's been a bit distant this past year, so I didn't think she was up for much socializing. She's pretty shy, as I'm sure you've noticed, though she does better one-on-one so I'm sure that hasn't been a big issue. Well, unless she was spending time here," he chuckled. Sweet Clo. His protective brotherly instincts weren't really going off about this guy, so he felt okay keeping it casual and not 'big brothery'. @aerick
