Georgie was nervous. Very nervous, in fact. She and Louis's oldest sister had agreed to meet in Hogmseade so that they could get to know each other before Georgie and Louis ran off to France with only Louis's mom as supervision. Georgie didn't really know why she was nervous, exactly - Louis loved his sisters and she was sure that with their parents and their lives, they had grown up to be good people. Hell, Louis's sister had been the Minister of Magic! They didn't give that role away easily. Georgie supposed that the thing she was most worried about was that Victoire would think that she was trying to steal Louis away from her. Georgie knew that if any girl came into Lance's life, she would have a few choice words for them before she would even let them think about getting as close to her brother as she was to Louis right now. Victoire had missed out on that opportunity due to her busy schedule when Georgie and Louis had started dating, and then there was that weird disappearing act. Georgie knew a thing or two about disappearing family members, but she knew better than to press Louis for details about his sister - and she wasn't going to press Victoire, either. She just wanted this meeting to go off without a hitch. Sure, it would probably be awkward, but Georgie could handle awkward. What she couldn't handle was losing Louis because his sister didn't like her.

Victoire was incredibly excited to finally get to know Georgie, her brothers girlfriend. She was hoping to have more time over the summer, but the France trip took up some of that time. Vic was glad they were going, though. France was her favorite place, as Royal would well know, and she knew how amazing it could be with someone you cared for. This would be a great time for Louis.
She was sure Georgie was intimidated, she wouldn't expect her not to be. So she tried to dress simply with a light colored dress and a cardigan, just wanting to look like an older sister and not a former Minister of Magic... she thought she pulled of the casual look pretty well.
Her and Georgie had decided to meet in Hogsmeade, and the girl wasn't hard to spot. Vic smiled, walking toward her. "Georgie? Hey, I'm glad you came."

Georgie was sure that her nerves showed the moment she saw Victoire approaching her. Even though Louis’s sister was smiling, and she was dressed casually in a dress in a cardigan, there was something intimidating that Georgie just couldn’t shake. She forced herself to take a deep breath, pasting a smile on her face and trying to think of Victoire the way she thought of Freddie, or the other orphanage staff – like adults that were her friends, instead of her betters. “Hi.” Georgie responded. “I, uh, wasn’t really sure if I was allowed to say no.” Georgie admitted, deciding that awkwardly blunt honesty would be the best way to approach this conversation. “I know this is kind of overdue.” Georgie added. She didn’t want to avoid the meeting, really – she just wanted it to be over with so that she knew what to expect from Louis’s sister. “Do you want to…walk?” She asked awkwardly.

The girl said hi, saying that she wasn't sure if she was 'allowed' to say no. Vic wanted to chuckle at that, but didn't. She could understand why Georgie felt that way. She asked if she wanted to walk, mentioning that this was overdue. "Yes, let's walk," Vic said, trying to keep her smile. She was really happy they were finally meeting like this, but she felt bad about being so intimidating, and feeling bad would just make her look more intimidating if she wasn't careful. "So, you're a Hufflepuff? My boyfriend," one of them. She wasn't sure how that was supposed to be phrased, "was in Hufflepuff. Guess Dominique is out of the trend," she joked.

Victoire was still smiling at her, and Georgie wasn’t sure how to feel about that. The Hufflepuff wasn’t very smiley herself, and she hadn’t that thought that Victoire, a Slytherin, would smile more than her, but there they were, one of them smiling and the other trying not to grimace awkwardly. Victoire asked if she was in Hufflepuff, and Georgie nodded. “I’m not really… a happy Hufflepuff, I guess.” Georgie said, trying to figure out how to dispel any preconceived notions Victoire might have about Hufflepuffs without insulting the rest of her house members. “Dominique has a boyfriend?” Georgie asked curiously. She hadn’t spoken to Louis’s other sister, either, and Louis didn’t mention her love life, so this was new for Georgie. It was almost like she was gossiping with Louis’s older sister. Weird.

Vic laughed as Georgie said she wasn't a 'happy' Hufflepuff, "certainly nothing wrong with that, everyone is different," she explained. At the question about Dom having a boyfriend, Vic shook her head. "No, I just don't think she's ever dated a Huffelpuff. Granted, I don't know about any relationship she's had other than with Ethan Johnson," she said. "But no matter there. Tell me about yourself. Such as, what sort of things you like to do?" she said, her tone almost sounded like it was border-lining a business transaction, so she knew she had to pull that back. This was just a kid, a kid dating her brother, but still just a kid.

Vic said that there was nothing wrong with her being a happy Hufflepuff, and Georgie shrugged. Sure, there was nothing wrong with it, but sometimes people were a little weirded out by the fact that she was in Hufflepuff. Vic said that she didn’t think Dominique had dated anyone other than Ethan Johnson. The name rang a bell for Georgie, but she only put the pieces together when she realized he was the boy that had been killed last April. That was sad, Georgie thought – she didn’t know what she would do if Louis died. Vic asked Georgie to tell the older girl about herself, and what she liked to do, and Georgie shrugged. “I like singing, mostly. I’m in the Frog Choir.” She said. “And I’m also in dueling club. My dad was a hitwizard, and he died on a mission, so I want to learn how to defend myself.” Georgie said all of it in a very factual manner, hoping that it would help stave off any pitying remarks.

Georgie answered her question, listing that she liked to sing first and foremost, along with dueling and mentioning her dad. Vic nodded, "well, both of those things are noble pursuits," not that Victoire was much of a singer or anything, but she appreciated the art from a distance. "I wouldn't mind seeing some of those dueling skills, I am sure your father would be happy you're practicing it well," she chuckled, not bothering to mention the death of her father in detail. Georgie didn't seem to be choking up about it or looking for consolation, and Victoire wasn't generally one to give that sort of thing unless in the proper setting. "I did auror training but didn't work as an auror, but the training was something I'd never trade -- Defense Against the Dark Arts is a great class, but I always felt we needed a little more preparation, especially considering the way the world is and always has been," Dumbledores Army was an example of that extra preparation back in the day.

Georgie managed a smile when Victoire called both of her hobbies noble. She wasn’t sure if that was the truth – sometimes she didn’t feel noble doing either of them – but at least Vic seemed to like her. Georgie’s smile grew when Victoire asked to see some of her skills. Georgie wasn’t a showoff, but she did like getting tips from people, and she always felt like she was at her best when there was someone else watching. Victoire went on to say that she thought that people needed more preparation, and Georgie nodded vigorously. “If you ever want someone to practice with… I can.” Georgie offered tentatively. She wasn’t sure how she felt about dueling Louis’s older sister, but she knew that the only way to get better was to practice, and Victoire had already mentioned seeing Georgie’s skills, so it was only a small step to actually doing it together. Practicing against an opponent who was better than you helped you grow much faster, Georgie knew, and if she had to guess she’d say that her boyfriend’s sister was a much better duelist than her. There was no way that was not true, since Georgie hadn’t trained to be an Auror like Victoire had. “Is there a reason you decided to go into politics instead of staying as an Auror?” Georgie asked curiously, finding that she was much more relaxed after connecting with Victoire over the mention of dueling.

Georgie said she'd be willing to practice with her and Victoire chuckled. Not that it was a ridiculous idea, but she thought that was pretty brave of Georgie to suggest such a thing to her. "I'll definitely remember that you offered," she said, trying to show that she was genuinely proud of Georgie for being so brave, even if it was tentative. It wasn't every day you offered to practice dueling with your boyfriends scary older sister, right?
Georgie asked if there was a reason she decided to go into politics and Victoire grinned. She always loved that question. "Actually, I've always been interested in it. The Auror thing was more for training and... I wanted to see if I would enjoy it. I just realized I was much better at fighting with words. Not that I'm a bad dueler," she promised, "but I have a lot more... power and confidence in politics. It just makes sense to me."

Georgie was a little relieved when Victoire didn’t immediately take her up on her dueling offer. It was easier to stomach the idea of her boyfriend’s sister one day sending her an owl to ask about a time than it was to think about her wanting to schedule something immediately. Georgie didn’t want to move too fast in her relationship with Victoire – liking the Slytherin as much as she did was already a bit dizzying for the Hufflepuff, since the whole ‘family’ thing wasn’t her forte.
Vic said that she had always been interested in politics, and that her Auror training had been more for the actual training than desire to become an Auror. Georgie had never considered doing anything of the type – training for two years just to try it out sounded like a big commitment. “I don’t think I’m much good at either.” Georgie said forlornly. She wasn’t that great of a speaker, unfortunately, and she was certain her age (and her overall lack of physical health) was holding her back from being the best duelist possible. “I want to work for the orphanage when I leave Hogwarts.” She blurted out unbidden.

Georgie said she didn't think she was much good at either, and Vic raised an eyebrow at her. She didn't know if she believed that, but before she could say anything Georgie was talking about the Orphanage. Victoires eyes widen for a moment, surprised at the words, before nodding her head and smiling again. "Pupilis Dunum is a great place. Royal does a lot of work with them through the ministry. He's part of the Ministers team," and so was she, once upon a time. "You may have seen him around... I mean, I think that's a great place to focus your energies. What do you want to do there? I know Mr. Cache is still on the board, even from abroad," she remembered, just from vague reports she'd seen here and there. "Would you want to be more hands on? Maybe live there?" she asked.

Victoire said that the orphanage was a great place, and Georgie nodded her head enthusiastically. The orphanage staff had helped raise her perhaps even more than her own parents had – and they had never left her behind for no good reason. Vic mentioned someone named Royal who worked for the Ministry. Georgie vaguely remembered the name, and figured he must have been one of Victoire’s friends that Louis knew by virtue of his sister. She wasn’t sure she had ever seen this Royal figure around – though she didn’t actually know what he looked like, so that made things difficult. “I don’t know what I want to do yet. Freddie said that if I worked hard, I could probably be Assistant Director in a few years.” Georgie shrugged. She wouldn’t mind being a social worker, she supposed, though management also sounded interesting. She doubted that the new director would be as gung-ho about her becoming the assistant, though. Not the way Freddie had been. Georgie shrugged again when Vic asked if she wanted to be more hands on. “I’ve lived there for five years already. I guess I’d kind of like to get away every once in a while.” Living at the orphanage would make it too easy to be consumed by her work, and Georgie actually wanted to enjoy her adulthood rather than let her work become everything.

Vic liked that Georgie called her old Orphanage leader by his first name. It was just a testament to how he had ran that place and acted as an advocate and friend to the kids there. "Assistant Director, that's a noble pursuit," Victoire complimented, meaning every word. That was a great thing to work toward, and Georgie seemed like someone who could get there quickly and do a great job. Victoire wasn't one to doubt someone due to their age or years in a field. That would be silly if she was. Some people just had a natural talent for things and when they learned the necessary skills to get started then they would be ready.
Georgie said she had lived there for five years and that it would be nice to get away every once in a while. "Understood. You can always work there and live apart. And has Louis been there with you? I've only been there once, I'm afraid. It seemed very lovely," she said.

Georgie didn’t care whether working for the orphanage was noble or not; it was what she wanted to do, and Merlin knew how stubborn the Hufflepuff could be when she was set in her ways. “I guess I’ll have to start as a social worker first, though.” There was nothing else in the orphanage that Georgie thought she’d be good at, except maybe the chef – but she didn’t see a clear path from working in the kitchens to being the assistant director, so a social worker it was. And that didn’t seem like it would be too hard, since advocating for orphaned children was the reason Georgie even wanted to work for the orphanage in the first place.
“Apparition makes everything easier.” Georgie said. Wizards didn’t have to worry about commute times as much as Muggles did, which was nice. She curled her lips into a frown at the question about Louis. Honestly, she couldn’t remember. “He must have been, at some point.” She decided. There was no way he couldn’t have visited the orphanage after all their time as friends, right? “It’s a great place.” Georgie agreed. “And it feels like a home, it really does, just…” She shrugged. She wanted a different kind of home was all.
