Andy hadn't been to the Longbottom flat above the Leaky Cauldron since Christmas break. She was staying with Susan at the Windsors place (and going on a bunch of random dates with Will). Since her and Phil had talked at the beginning of June, she decided to give it a few weeks before coming. June was almost over, and she decided to swing by to see if any of her family was around. She had seen Natalia a bit, but they were both so busy that they hadn't talked much. Andy had been awkward and vague about what she was doing with her days... she should have invited Natalia into her dreams, but they were... well, they would have given things away Andy wanted to talk to her sister about in person. She got to the flat and opened the door, using her key, "Hannah? Nat? Alice? Anyone home?" she knew that the guys were all staying at Longbottom Manor, so the girls had basically taken over the flat. Hopefully one of them was home. Specially Natalia. @natalia

Natalia had thought that she was good at coping with stress, but it was becoming increasingly obvious that the constant threats to the lives of the people she cared about were beginning to wear on her. She knew that it was wrong to complain, et cetera et cetera, but her boyfriend’s father was missing and her little sister was off doing who-knows-what (it definitely wasn't healing) and everything seemed to have spiraled out of control, even more than it had in January, and she was trying to be okay with that. Perhaps the only good thing about her increasing levels of stress was that she was finally able to be on her own again in her sleep. She hadn’t stumbled into anyone’s dreams for at least two weeks, which meant that she was finally getting some much-needed sleep. Nat had decided to sleep in that day while Alice and Hannah went and did something or other – grocery shopping, maybe? – but sleeping in had been a rather ambitious goal, and within fifteen minutes of her adoptive mother and sister leaving, Nat was sitting at the kitchen table with one of her medical texts beside her. When the front door opened, Nat didn’t look up – she assumed that she had just gotten engrossed in her book, and Alice and Hannah were back already. However, when she heard the voice calling into the flat, she knew she had assumed erroneously. “In the kitchen, Andy!” Nat called to her sister, bookmarking her book and standing to greet her sister.

She heard her sisters voice and her heart leaped up into her throat. She was glad it was Nat who was home. She crossed toward the kitchen and poked her head in first before stepping all the way in and crossing to Nat. "Hey, Nat," she grinned, moving to wrap her arms around her sister in order to give her a tight squeeze. She looked down at Natalias book and grinned, "you can take the Ravenclaw out of Hogwarts..." she joked, giggling. Why was she acting so giddy? She was happy to see her sister, ecstatic almost. "I was hoping you'd be home. Can we sit and talk?" she offered, gesturing back toward the living room. The couch would be comfortable and, if Andy was being honest, her and Phil had never kissed in the living room but they had in the kitchen. A rather passionate few kissing, at the edge of the doorway where the mistletoe hung during Christmas. It was... weird to stand there. @natalia

Nat was already looking at the kitchen doorway when Andy poked her head in, and the blonde offered a smile to her sister as she stepped into the kitchen. She made a comment about taking a Ravenclaw out of Hogwarts, and Natalia laughed. “I honestly think the studying is why we have so many Ravenclaw healers.” She said with another chuckle. It was easy to say that you wanted to help people and all of that, but the amount of work that was required to keep up-to-date in medicine was horrendous. Luckily for Natalia, she didn’t mind the constant studying – if anything, it made her like her job more. Andy said she’d hope Nat would be home, and then invited her sister into the living room to talk. A conversation was definitely long overdue, Nat thought. “Trying to get me away from my books?” Natalia teased as she made her way to the couch, leaving her textbook on the kitchen table. She’d return to it later.

Nat laughed, saying that she thought the studying was why there were so many Ravenclaw healers. That made sense, really. It took a lot of research so it made sense that those who liked research did it. Nat asked if Andy was trying to get her away from the books and Andy chuckled, making her way toward the couch as Nat followed. "I admire your ability to be so loyal to them." she said, referencing the books, "I'm afraid I've avoided those since I graduated... which brings us to what I wanted to talk about," she sat on the couch, sighing a little as she looked over at her sister. "I know I haven't really explained why I didn't end up training to be a Healer. My program... where I am keeps our training confidential for the most part, so it was easy to do it in secret for a while," she took in a deep breath, "I just hope you can understand why I chose it," she paused. @natalia

Nat gave Andy a wry smile when her sister said she admired Natalia’s ability to be loyal to her books. Andy said she had avoided books since graduation, and Nat nodded. She had been hoping that her sister would explain why she hadn’t been at the hospital, especially since last Nat had heard her sister had wanted to be a Healer. Andy sighed, and Nat arched an eyebrow. She wasn’t going to be angry at Andy, no matter what the reasons for her choice were. The Ravenclaw had had enough time to make peace with the fact that her sister wasn’t going to follow in her footsteps. Andy said that the training she was going through was mostly confidential, while still not saying what she was doing. Natalia pursed her lips when Andy said that she hoped Nat understood why she chose what she did. “I’m never going to understand if you don’t explain.” Natalia prompted. Her curiosity was piqued, and she wondered what Andy was doing now.

Nat pursed her lips as Andy remained vague, saying that she would never understand if Andy didn't at least explain. Andy needed to give her the chance TO understand, obviously. Andy chuckled nervously, nodding, and then shaking her head, and then nodding again before stilling herself. "I mean, I'm not saying that it's the craziest thing in the word... it's probably expected, by some. I joined the Hit Witch program," she finally said. "It was hard to get into, of course, but they said that I had good intentions and I was... creative," she may or may not have done a demonstration with her violin, for that extra push. "They are really amazing, Natalia. They... they're good people. At least, the ones I have met. I'll still keep learning about healing, of course, since that's kind of required for any law enforcement," it felt strange to think of herself that way, as a law enforcer@natalia

Natalia listened as her sister explained that her choice wasn’t the craziest thing in the world, and that some people had expected it. Andy was a hit witch – well, in training to become a hit witch. Nat was quiet for a long, long time, even as Andy continued to say that the program thought she had good intentions and that everyone she had met was amazing, and that she was still going to learn about healing. Everything was going in one ear and out of the other, really, but Nat didn’t know why. She wanted her sister to be happy, and this obviously made Andy happy… so why did she feel so sad? “I’m glad that you’re happy, Andy.” Nat said, forcing a smile. It felt fake, and probably looked fake, too, so why was she even trying?

Natalia wasn't happy. That was obvious, especially with that incredibly fake smile. Andy knew that she wouldn't be able to change her sisters mind, and it wasn't really worth trying to convince her. Natalia would just have to see for herself... or just see Andy's world do it's own thing without her. Either way, there was no point dwelling on the subject. "Thank you," Andy whispered. It was easy to spend the rest of the afternoon talking about other things and enjoying each others company, all while ignoring the fact that they weren't going to agree that this was the best thing for Andy. Phil wouldn't be happy about it either, Andy was sure... they worried about her because they loved her, she understood that. That didn't make her want to change her mind. @natalia (the end)
