I think that there’s this idea that every woman needs a date to everything. Imogen said in explanation of why she had reached out to the service and hired a date for the evening. Lucy nodded, and she nodded along with her further explanation as well. It made sense. Lucy wasn’t really fishing for an answer in particular. She was just curious. Normally, she was able to tell pretty quickly why the person she was out with had hired her for the evening. Sometimes they wanted to show off their ‘new date’ to their old date, who would be at the event they were going to. Or, they were the ones being honored at the event and couldn’t show up without a date. Most of the time, though, they were losers who wanted to prove themselves or look cool in front of their friends at weddings or reunions. At least they were losers with money. At least there didn’t seem to be anyone at the event that Imogen was trying to prove herself too, she just, in general, seemed to be wanting to avoid any awkwardness or confrontation about showing up alone to a formal gathering. “Fair enough. I totally understand how showing up somewhere alone is like an invitation for all the creepy guys to approach you.” she admitted, wondering if that was a weird thing to say. She had experienced that so many times, really so many. Way more than she could count. Even with some of the students in school if she’d ever go to any of the parties, which she normally didn’t. She left most social events like that to Molly. “It’s better to travel in pairs.” she smirked. She then glanced at the clock on the wall. It was coming up on the end time, but there was still a little while left, “do you want me to walk you home? Or anywhere?” she offered. They were both done with their meal and Lucy wasn’t sure what else Imogen expected from the night.

Imogen shuddered when Lucy said that she understood about not wanting to show up alone, because of the creepy guys. In general, Imogen was able to ignore the men who hit on her, but there were some people who thought the idea of having a partner who could look like whatever he wanted was simply irresistible, which only added to the whole creep factor. Now that she was thinking about it, Imogen couldn’t remember the last time she had been attracted to a man was – though part of that was that she tended to be friends with more girls in the first place, which meant that, paired with her sexuality… Imogen really only found herself crushing on other women. But that was beside the point – creepy men seemed to be even creepier when they realized that she was attracted to other women.
Lucy said that it was better to travel in pairs, and Imogen nodded. Having someone else to divert attention was useful, especially for people who weren’t good at confrontation, like herself. It wasn’t until Lucy asked if Imogen wanted Lucy to walk her home that the older woman realized that the end of their date was nearing. Time had gone by extremely quickly, which Imogen took to mean that she had a good time, even though they hadn’t done much other than talk. “I think I’ll be fine.” She replied. She was returning to Hogwarts, and she doubted Lucy wanted to go back to the school – especially since it meant Apparating into Hogsmeade and then walking the rest of the way back to the school. “You know your way home from here, too?” Imogen checked, since she had brought Lucy to a relatively unfamiliar area.

Imogen insisted that she was fine getting home and then asked if Lucy knew how to get home from here. Lucy shrugged. She could find her way, but she wasn’t going home, of course. She’d go back to the agency and collect her money from the evening and report back that the client wasn’t a creep and someone that she wanted to have banned from the service. The escorts had a lot of say in what clients were allowed to hire them again, and the service took the safety of their workers fairly seriously. “I’ll just apparate so I’ll be fine.” she insisted in hushed tones, so none of the muggles around them caught on, though no one really seemed to be paying attention to either of them, which was fine with Lucy; she didn’t need all eyes on her. “Well, thanks for a lovely evening. It really was fun.” she promised, standing up from the booth and putting her jacket back on. Ending dates was always a fairly awkward event, especially when it was ending with the two of them walking away on their own. “I’ll see you around.” She decided with a small nod and as they walked out.
@imogen ((Lucy out - go ahead and end it ))
