Diagon Alley was beginning to become a familiar place for the American girl. She had been here a week and her and her brothers spent most of their time in the alley. They were here with their mom for the summer since they dad had duties at home that he couldn’t get away from. Brooke was jealous of that. She hadn’t really wanted to move to London for the summer. She didn’t want to get to know the country that she was going to go to school in and she could wait until the school year to get to know he classmates. However, she was outvoted. They were staying in a no-maj part of town, which was weird. She had never been around no-maj’s for an extended period of time. But the Alley was safe. The Alley was full of busy local wizards jumping from shop to shop and coming out with more bags than before. Looking around, she could see that the Alley was also made up of people she vaguely recognized. People from school, Ilvermorny students who were also being forced to attend Hogwarts.
Brooke stepped out of the bustling Alley and into an ice cream parlor which was also full of people, but at least promised ice cream. Brooke stood in line and finally ordered a cone of chocolate before sitting on a bench outside.

Diagon Alley was, weirdly enough, a place that Iggy spent the majority of his summer once he was of age to Apparate on his own. Living in Wales there wasn't much to do, and Iggy liked to get away from his brother as much as he could. He felt bad leaving behind his mother and his younger sister to go explore a separate world from the one they lived in, but Iggy found comfort in the shops of Diagon Alley. His favorite place being Ollivander's, of course. In the past he had always gone in to talk to the wandmaker, wanting of course to become one someday himself. Though today as he walked by the small store, it seemed to be overcrowded with people which was extremely unusual. It was the beginning of summer, why would people be needing wands this early? Then, of course, Ichabod remembered that the American wizarding school had been attacked and that Hogwarts would be welcoming transfers this year. An interesting thought, considering their own news headlines over the last two years. But perhaps that was why the wand shop was so busy.
Being that his favorite shop was too busy, Iggy decided to skip Ollivander's for something else. He was about to head to the apothecary for a look around when he suddenly got the hankering for some ice cream. The Slytherin decided to turn around and head to Florean's for a nice, cold snack. Diagon was rather busy today, though, he thought. Iggy found himself stepping between people to get to the ice cream parlor, walking particularly close to a bench and when someone bumped into his back, Iggy could not stop himself from tripping over the pair of feet that belonged to the person sitting on the bench. Luckily, after an embarrassing stumble the seventh year caught himself before he fell and swiftly turned around and stoof upright quickly before it may have looked like he almost fell. His eyes found the person who sat upon the bench, a girl perhaps a year or two younger than him, and he put on an apologetic look. "I'm terribly sorry about that," he said somewhat sheepishly.

Brooke had always been an adventurous person, and she wasn’t sure why she wasn’t thinking of being in England as an adventure. Perhaps because she never pictured herself in Europe. She never pictured herself off of her continent. She wasn’t sure that travel was really for her. She didn’t mind going away for the weekend, or going away to school across the continent, but that was different. She was thousands and thousands of miles away and wasn’t sure when the next time she’d be in America was. She knew that international travel wasn’t as easy and cost a lot more money, she wasn’t sure if she’d be able to go home for Winter break… and what would happen over Thanksgiving?! They don't even celebrate it in this country! Would she have to go to class on Thanksgiving?!
Brooke pondered some of these things in-between licks of her ice cream cone as she sat in the Alley, occasionally glancing up at a person that looked about her age and seeing what they did. Most of the kids were popping in and out of a store labeled Quidditch Supplies, which she imagined was their version of Quadpot. How interesting. Brooke felt a kick against her foot and gasped, turning her head to the person who had tripped. Oops. Had she caused that to happen by not paying attention? The young man caught himself and stood up straight. “It’s okay, are you alright?” Brooke asked. He looked about her age, though he looked older. She wondered if he was a new classmate. She wondered if he’d pick up on her American accent. She felt like she stuck out like a sore thumb in the Alley with the way she spoke.
