Jess nodded when Ella mentioned that she knew Isolde. She hadn't expected that, but now she thought about it, it made sense for the two to know one another. "Well, I met her a while ago when I did an interview with her about the Tournament," Jess started, feeling like she might as well give the full story. "And by the end of the interview we started talking about all sorts of things and I mentioned I was interested in someone. Then the other day I ran into her outside around the same time as lunch, so we went to lunch together. She asked whether or not there were any new developments with the guy I was interested in and so I told her that we were dating. Then she started telling me to be careful." It sounded a little strange, all put together like that, but Jess liked Isolde. It was easy to get along with the woman and she seemed honestly interested in Jess' life, which wasn't altogether that common.
Eleanor listened to Jess' descriptions of her dates with Fin and then sighed. "It was," Jess confirmed with a nod, letting her mind drift to how fabulous those dates with Fin were. She chuckled when her friend mentioned that Cyrus wasn't a good cook a while ago. Then Jess smirked, proud of Fin's cooking. "He's amazing," she told her friend. "I asked him to make cheesecake for me and he didn't even have to think about it! Watching him in the kitchen is fun too. He just seems to belong there."

Eleanor pretended for a moment to look offended. “You did the Tournament piece and you didn’t interview moi?” she asked indignantly, before giggling despite herself. She knew her friend would understand she wasn’t being serious, but she would not be Eleanor Percival if she didn’t make the comment! Her smile slowly disappeared from her face as Jess described the other run in with Isolde; it was unlike the woman she knew to be wandering about town during the day. Isolde had been a little bit….different lately. Normally she was pretty much a wallflower - nobody would notice her from a painting on the wall. But after she’d come back from her family members funeral she seemed to come out of her shell a little. Perhaps that was why the head of the Tournament team had chosen her to go to the Prophet for the interview. Elle didn’t share these thoughts with Jess however; the poor girl seemed paranoid enough as it was, and she didn’t want to add to it.
Instead, she focused in on Jess’ gushing over Fin’s cooking skills. “Well when i meet him I will have to insist he cook for us,” she said, tossing one of her curls behind her shoulders and laughing. From the sound of it, it didn’t seem like Fin would mind cooking for Jess’s friends, especially if he loved it as much as she was saying. “Is he good at...other things too?” Elle asked slyly, raising an eyebrow and smirking suggestively at Jess. The girl would know exactly what she meant, and she’d probably blush furiously too. Elle however, remembered just how good looking Fin O’Neill was, so she was curious to know what plenty of other girls wanted to know too.

Jess laughed when Eleanor asked why she didn't interview her. "I didn't choose who I interviewed. I'm an intern, remember. I interview who they tell me to." She knew Eleanor wasn't really upset, but figured she might explain the truth anyway. Jess was hoping to get a real job as a reporter, especially in sports, but these small articles meant a lot in getting her there. She had to do exactly what the editor wanted or the last two years of catering to everyone's wants and needs was a waste of her time.
Jess smiled at her friend's suggestion, "I'm sure Fin wouldn't mind cooking for us. Maybe we should plan a double date sometime?" she actually liked the idea, but posed it as a question. She didn't want to make Ella feel pressured into anything. She blushed at her friend's next question. "He's good at hiking," she answered automatically, though she knew the blush on her face gave away the fact that she knew that wasn't what Eleanor was asking. She smirked a little, "and he is a pretty good kisser." Oh, why not! She knew if she didn't come out and say it, Eleanor would continue asking. Might as well get that into the open now.

Eleanor tossed her brown curls over her shoulder and leaned forward. “Well I guess next time I will just have to stand out that much more to get a coveted interview spot,” she said with a wide grin. The next Quidditch World Cup would likely be the next big opportunity for her department as she highly doubted the Triwizard Tournament would be playing again any time soon. At least the Quidditch World Cup was held once every four years without fail. “Though hopefully by the time the next big event for my department comes up you’ll be higher up in the ranks,” she added with a small nod. She knew it couldn’t be all that easy being a journalist. You had to start at the lowest rung of the ladder and climb your way up. She had faith though that Jess could easily make her way to a regular reporter if she set her mind to it.
Elle’s eyes lit up at the idea of a double date. “Oooh yes! Then Cy could talk to Fin and not be surrounded by women!” she said with a giggle. “Of course, he usually is surrounded by all that testosterone because the Arrows don’t seem to recruit a woman player, but still.” She liked the idea of a home cooked meal as well; hopefully Fin would be receptive to this idea. Eleanor leaned forward slightly, her lips forming a slight ‘o’ before squealing with glee. “Oooh tell me MORE Jess!” she said, swirling her glass of champagne and taking a delicate sip, eyes trained on her friend.

Jess laughed as her friend continued to joke around. "I guess you will," she teased back. "I'd actually love to have the chance to interview," she admitted, hoping that she would be able to do that with her friend. It would be much more fun than interviewing a stranger, even though she had a good experience working with Isolde. She shrugged at the idea that hopefully she'd be higher up in the ranks. "I hope so too. If not, I might have to come up with a different job." Jess laughed, not taking herself seriously at all.
Eleanor definitely liked the idea of a double date and Jess was glad. "Sounds like we're both in agreement, as long as our guys don't mind," she said with a soft chuckle. She couldn't see any reason why Fin wouldn't want to go on a date with Eleanor and Cyrus, but she'd ask him first all the same. "What do you want me to tell you? I need questions at least," Jess giggled. She didn't know what else to say, other than that she thought she was falling for Fin, but she wasn't entirely sure she was ready to admit that to anyone yet.

Eleanor straightened up with a small smile as Jess said she would love the chance to interview her. “Well I would love the chance to be interviewed by you, so we’d both with in this situation,” she declared matter-of-factly, tucking a curl behind her ear. It would be a fun interview; they’d be able to get what needed to be done completed, then be able to spend the rest of the allotted time gossiping. Perfect combination! “Would you want to do anything else besides journalism?” Elle asked her friend curiously, dabbing her mouth with her napkin as she finished her lunch. For as long as Elle had known her, Jess had seemed pretty set on being a great journalist. But if that didn’t work out for whatever reason, she did wonder what was another path she’d want to take. “Cy won’t mind for sure, I just have to make sure it’s on a night he doesn’t have an extra practice. I may or may not already know his game schedule by heart,” Eleanor commented, smiling sheepishly. She wasn’t really embarrassed by it though; she had been an Arrows fan for a few years now, so of course she’d know when they were playing at home. “What about your man? Any sort of impending events we should be worried about scheduling around?” she asked her. She didn’t think that Jess had mentioned what Fin did for a living, so she didn’t know if he had work trips or events he had to attend. @jessavette

Jess grinned at her friend, loving the idea of interviewing her. "All right. Just be prepared. I'm going to be looking for any excuse to give you an interview," she warned with a small laugh. She wanted to spend time with her friend. Jess thought for a moment when Eleanor asked if she'd want to do anything else. "Well, I really do want to be a journalist ... other than that, maybe a writer? But I have no idea what I'd write about." That was the thing. If she could, Jess would get right into writing a book, but she didn't have a topic and couldn't come up with anything else. Other than writing ... she had nothing.
"I'm not surprised at all that you know his schedule by heart," Jess teased. It was like Elle and the two did know one another pretty well. "I'll check with Fin. He's normally quite busy, actually. He works as an obliviator, but I don't know if he has any big plans coming up or anything" Jess said. "I'm sure we'll be able to find a time that works." She sighed, leaning back in her seat as she finished her food. She was definitely full now.

Eleanor laughed, delighted. “I will give you any excuse for an interview,” she said proudly. She was fairly certain she had done a good enough job at the tournament to get a little higher up in the ranks of Junior Assistant in the Department. She knew the head, Cho Chang, was a very busy woman and she did not want to bother her, though many fibers of her being screamed for her to go ask for more. “Well, what interests you? Other than Fin obviously,” she asked, smirking a little at her quip. “You have to find what you’re passionate about, carve out the niche, and the rest will come to you naturally.” Gods, Elle sounded like a sage full of wisdom. “Don’t mind me,” she said, taking a last sip of her wine before the waiter whisked their empty plates and glasses away. “An Obliviator, interesting,” Elle mused, thinking back for a moment on the fact that Fin had been friends with Elaine in his Hogwarts years. An Obliviator would be VERY useful in her ranks, but she didn’t want to believe the worst in Fin - not before she had even really met him. “Well you let us know what time works best for you, and we’ll be there,” Elle promised. The waiter brought the check, and Elle handed her credit card to him with a flourish. “On me,” she said, not even letting Jess protest for a minute. @jessavette end on your next post?

Jess grinned right back at her friend. "Sounds like a good plan then," she agreed. Honestly, she was glad that she did have a few friends who were working at the ministry and wouldn't mind. She asked what interested Jess and she started to shrug, but instead giggled when Eleanor mentioned Fin again. "You mean I have to think of something else?" she retorted in a whiny voice. Then she thought a moment. "I'm not exactly sure. I could go for reporting sports, like on the Quidditch matches and such, but I don't know if there will be an opening there. I guess I'll start wherever they'll have me and then figure it out." It sounded lame, but Jess didn't want to get her hopes up for a specific job and then not be able to do it because she didn't get the job. Eleanor told her to let her know when Fin and her were available and Jess nodded. "I"ll do that," she promised firmly. It would be fun to have dinner with her friend, and nice to be able to prove to her that Fin was a good person and that he cared for Jess, though that wasn't the only reason she wanted them to interact. She cared about both of them, of course. She rolled her eyes when Eleanor insisted that she'd pay, knowing that there was no point in arguing with the girl. "Thank you then," Jess said after a moment. "I guess I'll see you around. Thanks for lunch!" She really did need to get back to work. Jess stood and waved at Elle for a moment before making her way back to work. @eleanor ---the end---
