Ever since he heard the rumors of the Bainbridges throwing their own beach vacation party he couldn't help but want to have one himself. It wasn't only partly because of how could someone throw a party and not include the life of the party, I.e. Gilderoy. It took some convincing from a number of people but who would Gilderoy have been is he couldn't use his charms successfully. A couple well meaning excuses here and stretches of the truth there, nothing too deceitful and it was all in the name of the greater good. What really sealed the deal was the recent attack on the American school, Illvermorny, and the news that most if not all of their student body would be joining Hogwarts this year. Everyone wanted this to go smoothly and what better way than to get people to know each other at a party, or at least that's what Gilderoy told the people he needed to.
His mother was already on board, she knew of a large empty rental vacation home on the beach that could be used from a friend in magical real estate. Complete with its own house elves for cooking and drink purposes, they could also clean up the place after, thankfully. Really the hardest part was finding a way to owl everyone from Hogwarts and the students who came early from Illvermorny. That took some sweet talking and owling back and forth with people. Everyone wanted the transfer students from Illvermorny to feel welcome. What more could help the transfer students who came early more than to meet the Hogwarts students as soon as possible. Gilderoy used that, it was what finally got him a yes. Of course after his invitations were approved they would be sent out to both student bodies. It wasn't a lie in anyway either, the new students deserved to see Gilderoy in all his glory after all. The whole world did in fact but baby steps after all.
Everything was finally set and ready to go. Invitations sent with instructions on how to get there by floo or other means. The beach house was ready for the many guests he expected, all kinds of activities and whatever else he could find that seemed suitable for a beach party were out on the beach. There were punch bowls and snacks set to refill magically with the help of the elves in the kitchen and music playing. The beach was far enough away from muggle eyes that no one would see anything and it had enchantments to keep it that way also. To any muggle it just seems like a rocks and a dump of sea trash to keep them away if they ventured this far. Honestly at this point he was exhausted setting all this up even with the help of house elves. Time was coming for people to start showing up and he was excited but he needed a break for a second taking a seat on one of the beach chairs for a moment. Besides it was hard to know where the first guests might arrive from so he'd just greet them here.
OOC THE RULES (I stole most of this from Colin/Suzie.)
1. Have Fun 2. The idea for the thread, and I quote SUZIE on this, "Basically the idea is that you post when you want in whatever order you want and just @tag the person who you're character DIRECTLY references or is speaking to. It's pretty much like 1,000 conversations happening at once. It's a good time, but I will say that it works best if the posts are short." 3. You DO NOT talk about Fight Club 4. If you have any questions about what this is about, contact me, Other TJ , with a PM and I'll be able to answer them. 5. All students are invited. This includes recent graduated students and transfer Illvermorny students. Also cool adult who won't bring the party down are allowed. 6. Here is the link to the last time this was held, to get an idea of what the posting is like: NOVEMBER DANCE PARTY. COME ON, DON'T YOU WANNA DANCE? or Strangers In The Night. 7. You DO NOT talk about Fight Club 8. Please no OOC accounts posted in here. This is strictly IC posts. So let loose, have fun, talk to characters you haven't before, and party! 9. If you have a new character that is created while the thread is going on, please PM me and I'll add them into the list. 10. Gilderoy is awesome, you're all welcome.

Getting an invitation to a party before she had even arrived at Hogwarts was something that Kaylee had never expected, but she and her brother and sister each had. It was an invitation to a beach party, no less, which seemed right up their alley. Kaylee didn't think that Britain was exactly known for its beaches, but a beach party was still a beach party. Seeing the party as a good opportunity to get to know some of the people with whom she would be spending the upcoming year, she had RSVP-ed back to the sender, Gilderoy Lockhart, Jr., to say that she would be in attendance.
Her attendance had been made all the easier by Gilderoy's inclusion of directions to the beach, including via the Floo Network, which she took from the Leaky Cauldron to her destination. Finding herself inside what appeared to be a large and relatively empty house, she guessed that she was the only one there. Wondering if it was really some sort of set-up, she kept her new wand close, glad that she could carry it, but put it away as soon as she heard music playing.
Making her the way out to the beach, Kaylee was glad to have worn a tee and a pair of shorts over her swimsuit. British beaches certainly weren't the beaches she was used to in Hawaii, but at least the party atmosphere seemed alright. There were tables with what looked to be punch, Kaylee saw, and an assortment of snacks—enough to satisfy dozens, potentially. There were even a few house-elves around! No set-up would have let so many details go to waste, she thought, as she noticed a blonde teenage boy in a beach chair not far from her.
“Hey,” she called, walking towards him so that she wouldn't have to raise her voice unnecessarily over the music. “Are you Gilderoy?”

Sav MacMillian was never one to turn down a party. He was a very social young man and loved to have a good time with his friends. He was pretty infamous when it came to parties and always seemed to either bring or leave with an attractive someone on his arm. He also, always came prepared for a good time, and this was no exception. He had the necessary instruments to make the party extra fun and he planned on ditching the evidence the first chance he got. He hadn’t got in trouble for it before, and this was a less stressful situation since it wasn’t at school, but it was in public, so it came with its own set of cautions. “Hey man!” Sav called to the party host, a man in his year but a different house whom he got along with quite well most of the time. Both had similar personalities and equal skills when it came to romance. “Thanks for the invite.” he added. He then spotted a young woman whom he had never met. “Hey there - I’m Sav.” he introduced himself with a smirk, wondering if she was one of the new transfer students.

When another boy about her age showed up to the beach and thanked the boy whom she had believed to be Gilderoy Lockhart, Jr., for the invitation, Kaylee knew both that she was in the right place and that she hadn't mistaken the young man in the beach chair for someone else. That was reassuring, she thought, that she hadn't painfully embarrassed herself within her first few minutes at her first real party with her new Hogwarts classmates.
The newer arrival smirked at her and introduced himself as Sav. Kaylee guessed that it must have been short for something, although she wasn't sure what.
”I'm Kaylee,” Kaylee replied, introducing herself to Sav. As though her accent wouldn't give her away as an American, she added, “I'm one of the transfer students from Ilvermorny.”

Oscar wasn't sure that coming to a beach party was such a great idea, but he had also been the one to suggest that he and Anna get out of their apartment for a little while, and since they had been given an invitation to the party via owl, it seemed rude not to come. Oscar had no memory of the Gilderoy Lockhart Junior who had signed the invitation, but he had no recollection of most of the Hogwarts students, which was part of the reason why he was coming in the first place. Being almost blown to smithereens had made Oscar realize how few attachments he had to the world, and he wanted to make more friends. Going to parties was how people made friends, right? Oscar had Anna on his arm, and he had to admit that she felt like a security blanket going into a situation that put him far, far out of his element. Oscar was wearing a t-shirt and shorts, which showed off the worst of his scars - the one wrapping from his right kneecap and up to his inner thigh, where it disappeared in the fabric of his shorts, and the elbow-to-wrist monstrosity that was also on his right side. They were curse scars, destined never to heal completely, and putting them on display made Oscar more nervous than he should have been. He was there, though, on the beach and ready to mingle... by standing awkwardly and waiting for others to approach him, of course.

While Gilderoy sat in the beach chair for a moment it didn't take long till he heard what sounded like someone else. He was going to just assume it was a house elf doing something till he heard the voice of a girl which made him sit up and look around. What he found was a pretty girl standing nearby asking if he was Gilderoy. All he could assume was she must have been one of the the Illvermorny transfers because he hadn't seen her before in his life. He was just about to respond till another person came up, this one he was familiar with.
He had seen and talked to Sav a few times and got along with him just fine. He let the two introduce each other before attempting to speak again. "Hey Sav and welcome Kaylee, both to the party and Europe. As you guessed I'm Gilderoy and this is my little get together." He said with a warm smile as just saying that made him happy and proud of what he had arranged. "If the rest of the Illvermorny students are half as pretty as you this will be an interesting year to say the least." With that he watched as more people showed up from the house, walking around. So far this was a success.

Gilderoy confirmed that he was Gilderoy, and he welcomed her “both to the party and Europe”. She smiled politely in response to the welcome, though she had to wonder what in the world he would have considered a large party if this one was only a “little get-together”. The house into which she'd arrived certainly couldn't have been his, unless his parents were gone and he had cleared it out without their knowledge of what he was doing.
“If the rest of the Ilvermorny students are half as pretty as you,” Gilderoy added, “this will be an interesting year to say the least.”
Hoping that that was a compliment, even though she didn't know what Gilderoy meant by “interesting”, Kaylee smiled hesitantly. The arrival of another boy and a girl who were presumably a couple was as much of a distraction as Kaylee knew that she was going to get for the time being, and she looked to Sav quickly. “I'll be right back.”
The two hadn't approached anyone else so far—not even Gilderoy. The girl, a redhead, looked as though she might have been the same one who had won the Triwizard Tournament for Hogwarts, before the damage had been done to the ship from Durmstrang and the carriage from Beauxbatons. Kaylee didn't recognize the young man who was with her, though he looked as though he had just stepped more than a little bit outside of his comfort zone. Even from where she stood, she could see that he had some serious scarring on his right arm and leg.
“Hi,” she greeted the pair, not put off by the boy's scars at all. Considering that her dad didn't have legs and had been that way since before she was ever born, a few scars weren't going to change her perception of anyone. “Do you two wanna join us?” she asked, gesturing in the direction of Sav and Gilderoy. Even if she was the new girl here, she didn't want anyone to feel left out.

When Kisumi heard there was going to be a party, she took about two seconds to scrawl out a reply and send back that she'd be coming. Of course she would, she could never pass up a party. And a beach! She'd never even thought of England having such things. She decided to go by Floo, as those were the easiest directions. She wore her bikini under short distressed denim shorts and a black band t-shirt tied up to expose a sliver of skin, with her sandals and towel in the black beach bag over her shoulder. The idea of standing in fire was bad enough - it definitely required boots. But once she arrived it was easy enough to follow the smell of the ocean, and a moment later, the sound of voices and music. She found her way to the door and out onto the beach. Her grin grew. ”Well, it's no California, but it's definitely a beach.” She breathed in deeply and turned to the group on the beach. Kaylee was there, but the rest all seemed to be Brits. ”Will I regret it if I try to go swimming?”kaylee māhealani mahi'ai@lockhart @sav

“Will I regret it if I try to go swimming?”
“Probably,” commented Zeke from behind Kisumi, a No-Maj-born student like himself. He had only just arrived at the party, and it seemed like it would be a good time. The water, on the other hand? “That's no heated pool, Kisumi,” he joked. Just looking at the ocean, he had a feeling that this side of the Atlantic would be much chillier than they were used to.
Taking his shirt off in spite of his previous comments and slinging it on the nearest chair, he grinned at the colorful girl in the grade below him. “There's only one way to find out,” he laughed, looking between the only two people he knew at the party so far. He would make himself the proverbial guinea pig if he had to, testing the waters for the rest of them.
“Should we go down there and do it on three?” he suggested to Kisumi. “Or are you gonna make me go alone?” If worst came to worst, Zeke guessed that he could probably warm up a small area of water. He had his new wand in the pocket of his shorts, and he was of age and dying to test it out.

When they got the invite to a beach party, Anna was sure that Oscar wouldn't want to go. After all, he did just get out of the hospital a while ago and his scars were new and fresh. Then he surprised her, bringing up the party and that they should go. Anna liked parties so she had no problem there, she simply found herself a bit concerned at how people would respond to Oscar's scars. She didn't want anyone to make him feel more self-conscious than she was sure he already was. Still, she agreed to go and as they left she found herself excited. Anna liked parties and liked getting to know new people, along with seeing other friends. She had a number of those. As they arrived, the pair slowed and Anna turned to Oscar, smiling as she took his hand. "Are you ready?" she asked, nodding her head toward the small group already present. It was probably a good thing they arrived before most people. That way there might be less staring. She was about to pull him to the group when a girl she didn't know left it and approached them, inviting them to join her and the group. "Hi," Anna answered back with an easy smile, squeezing Oscar's hand. She nodded, "Yeah, we were about to join you guys. I'm Anna by the way," she said, leaving Oscar the chance to introduce himself. She wanted to give him the opportunity to talk to people, after all. If she took over everything, he probably wouldn't enjoy himself at all. She tugged gently on his hand and started walking towards the other group, slowly enough that the group could continue talking. @oscar kaylee māhealani mahi'ai

Fiona turned up to the party just a bit late. And to be honest, the reason for her doing so, was that she wasn’t sure if she even wanted to go. Gilderoy had invited her, personally. And she knew that he wanted her to come, she felt like she owed that to the man who had been her best friend for so many years. It was just a party. There was no harm in going, especially because she knew that she could leave anytime she wanted. She couldn’t help but think though that the last time she went to a party with Gilderoy, they had kissed and then stopped talking for a few years. How crazy was that to think about? Fiona had packed a book in her beach bag, like that was a surprise to anyone, and she was okay with just finding a spot on the beach to sit and read while everyone else drank and ran about. At least, if she was there, she could say she was being social, right? She scanned over the crowd, only recognizing a handful of people. Whens she found the familiar blonde head, she made her way over to him. “Look at you being all popular and stuff.” Fiona teased Gilderoy once she made it to him.

Crayla Howlan was never one to turn down a party. Especially not one thrown by such an interesting creature. Gilderoy had always fascinated her. However, her main reason for wanting to go (besides the possibility of a casual snog) was to check out the new transfer students. Cray had heard that they were invited too, and she figured that most of them wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to come and meet some of their new classmates. She wondered if any of them were going to be worth her time. She wondered the same thing about the foreign students last year, however, she had decided that quite a few of them had been worth her knowing. They were at least interesting. And as long as you were interesting or had something to offer, you interested Crayla Howlan. Beaches in England weren’t exactly warm, now matter what time of the year it was, but it was a particularly fair day with only a slight breeze when Cray showed up. A few students seemed headed for the ocean, something the Ballerina wouldn’t do if her life depended on it. She didn’t want to freeze to death. A few others seemed to be chatting, which didn’t entirely sound good to the Slytherin either. Instead, she just stood there, overlooking everyone else until she decided what she wanted to do.

Mimi turned to see Zeke just behind her, and grinned back. “Don't need a heated pool. I grew up on the ocean.” Technically that was a bit of an exaggeration, but they’d spent enough time at Ocean Beach and Santa Cruz that she was at least expecting it to be cold. But when he asked if he was going to have to go alone, well, that simply couldn't be allowed to stand. “Oh, don't try to challenge a Thunderbird and get away with it.” She shed her clothes in a pile on one of the beach chairs, revealing an electric blue and decidedly functional swimsuit that clashed horrendously with the pink of her hair. Hogwarts had a house that couldn't resist a challenge, didn't they? So she turned back to the group - all of the groups, as more people were arriving - and bet that there was at least one of them there. With a tilt of her head and a smirk, she asked, “Really? No one else?” She didn't wait for an answer before turning back to Zeke. ”On three it is.”@ezekiel @sav @lockhart @fiona @cray @oscar kaylee māhealani mahi'ai @annelise

So far things were going great with the party. It was just starting and there were already quite a few people here, most from Illvermorny. The new girl, the first one at he party, Kaylee had run off to go meet the others showing up now. Probably his job since it was his party but he didn't need to worry about that. This was about having fun and letting people get to know each other. Also letting the new transfer get to know just how amazing he could be and what they had been missing back in Illvermorny. Anne was here too, the champion of the Tri-wizard tournament. He would have brought that up more freely if the tournament hadn't been met with such a terrible ending when the visiting students went home.
Some of the Illvermorny students asked about the water and one commented about it probably being colder than they were used to. "Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if it is a little colder." Gilderoy commented with a laugh. It was just interesting to see others take on the beach here compared to back home. "I'm Gilderoy by the way, there's food, drinks and all kinds of things around here. Everyone have fun and welcome to Europe." The last part being directed to the Illvermorny students that were around.
Gilderoy smiled hearing a familiar voice and looking over to where it came from. He had half expected to see Fiona when she showed up. Not her surprise him but he was distracted with greeting other people all over the place it seemed. "Yeah I do that a lot it seems." He replied also just happy Fiona had actually shown up, while he was sure she would there was a small part of him that doubted it for a moment. "A lot of Illvermorny students already showed up so it's been a success so far and I guess everyone else is just being fashionably late, like you were." Gilderoy teased for a moment noticing her bag for a second and could only assume what was in it. "I'm sorry miss, books aren't allowed at this party but I guess I can make an exception."

A party? This was definitely something Jace was excited about. As soon as he received the invite, he knew he'd go. Firstly, it would give him the chance to meet more people. Also, parties were just plain fun. Besides that, it was on a beach! What could be better than that? Basically, Jace was there and he was entirely ready to have the time of his life. As he walked up to the beach in question, he saw a bunch of people crowded around one guy in particularly. Alright, so that was probably the guy that was hosting this thing. Jace walked up to him, not interrupting his conversations with anyone else. However, when he saw a lag in the conversation he stepped forward and held a hand out. "I'm Jace Hunter. You wouldn't happen to be Gilderoy, would you?" he grinned, pretty sure he'd found the right guy. He'd start meeting other people in a minute. It was just good manners to start with the host, right? He winked at the rest of them. "All right, so I'm new here? Should we have some introductions?" he asked with a shrug, nodding at the people he knew from his school. @gilderoy @fiona @kisumi @ezekiel kaylee māhealani mahi'ai and everyone else ...
