Oscar was getting out of the hospital that day. He had been hospitalized for much longer than he would have liked, almost a full month while the Healers figured what was going on with his ever-bleeding wounds. Luckily for him, they had found a way to get the lacerations to close, though now he had scars across much of his body, including one on his forehead, just above his left eyebrow. It wasn't a big deal, Oscar knew, but it was a blow to his pride, and the fact that there were equally visible scars on his right arm and leg, and one that ran across his back, didn't make Oscar eager to wear anything particularly revealing. Him being hospitalized had changed most of his plans for returning to France, but luckily he had been able to hire someone to do the bulk of the work for him, and his childhood was packed up into a storage unit somewhere in the English countryside. Oscar's trunk had been brought with him to the hospital, though, and now it was sitting on the foot of the bed, next to Oscar himself, as he waited for his fiancée to come retrieve him.

The day was finally here and Anna was beside herself with excitement. Oscar was getting out of St. Mungos today! She knew he was only in the hospital for a few weeks and that in the grand scheme of things that wasn't too long, but at the same time it felt like an eternity. She visited him daily, of course, wanting to make sure he didn't get too lonely in there, but it wasn't the same as being out and about with him. Anna wasn't entirely sure whether or not he would need to rest or if he was good to do whatever he wanted. It was all a bit new and she felt nervous, not knowing. She just wanted to be with him and for him to be all right.
She walked into the hospital, nodding at the people she passed. Most of them knew her by now, of course. She made her way to Oscar's room, knocking on the door a few times before entering. She figured he'd be waiting for her, since she was a few minutes later than she meant to be. Of course she was late. That just seemed to happen with them. "Hey Oscar," she said with a smile as she opened the door to see him sitting on the bed. "Are you ready to get out of here?"

Anna was late, but that didn’t bother Oscar. Her being late never meant that she wasn’t coming – it normally just meant that she had gotten caught up in something and forgotten to check the time. Oscar had nothing against people being fashionable plate, but he had to admit that it was a little harder to stomach when Anna was late to coming to get him from the hospital, since he was so, so ready to leave. At the knocks on the door, Oscar perked up. Anna stepped through, and Oscar pushed himself off of the bed so that he could hobble over to her and wrap her in an awkward half-hug. “You have no idea, mamour.” Oscar said with a crooked grin. “I have been ready to leave since I got here.” He had known, of course, that staying in the hospital was necessary to help him get better, but Merlin, it was boring! He was ready to get out of the hospital and into the real world, so he could begin earning money and preparing for his wedding. “Are you ready to deal with me?” Oscar asked with a chuckle. He still wasn’t walking quite right, and sometimes being alone scared him, but that wasn’t quite what he was talking about. He didn’t know what he was talking about, though, which made it all rather confusing.

Oscar stood when she opened the door, moving to give her a side-hug as he grinned at her. "Well, we need to celebrate then, because they're finally letting you out!" She answered with her own wide smile. Honestly, she didn't know if he was well enough to do anything that really constituted "celebrating," but Anna would be perfectly content to go and watch a movie or just relax somewhere and talk. "What do you want to do?" Anna asked curiously. Of course, she would do her best to try and make sure he could do whatever he wanted, but she didn't even know what that was. She should probably start there before making her own plans. She shook her head and laughed when he asked if she was ready to deal with him. "I'm ready for anything," she teased, "especially if it's with you ... but I'm not quite sure what you think I'm going to have to deal with ..." she trailed off, watching him as she waited for him to explain what he meant by that. She took his hand and squeezed it, excited to leave with him instead of on her own.

Anna said that they needed to celebrate because he was finally out, and Oscar quirked an eyebrow at her. “What do you intend to do to celebrate, mamour?” He asked. “You know, I have kept the Valentine’s Day cake imprinted in my mind so if we ate cake together again, I would know if it was any good.” He teased. A cake would be a great way to celebrate his getting out, thought the healers had said that if he could eat more fruits and vegetables, that might help him heal a little faster. Oscar could ignore those words for the time it took to eat a cake. Anna asked what he wanted to do, and Oscar shrugged. Truthfully, he was still tired, and not all that interested in going out to do anything huge. Other people were still a bit of a touchy subject, just because Oscar felt like everyone was looking at him, and not in the way that appealed to his vanity. Anna mentioned that she wasn’t quite sure that she was going to be dealing with, and Oscar gave her a tired smile. “The mess of a man that I have become.” He answered. They didn’t need to get into more details now, in what was supposed to be a happy time.

Anna couldn't help but laugh when Oscar lifted a teasing eyebrow at her. "I don't know!" She thought for a moment, but then he brought up the cake from Valentines day and she grinned at him. "Well why don't we go get some cake? We could also get sandwiches somewhere if you want? Or we can just eat cake." Wow, she was in a teasing mood. That was kind of to be expected though, since Anna was just giddy that her boyfriend was out of the hospital. She just wanted to be with him and happy and continue to move on with life together. Then he said he was a mess and Anna looked over at him and gave a small smile. "Everyone is a mess in one way or another, but I'm happy to deal with whatever comes with you. I love you." Anna squeezed his hand, hoping she wasn't being too cheesy for him, but really meaning it at the same time. She didn't care if he was a mess. Oscar was worth it.

Anna suggested that they go get cake, an idea that Oscar agreed with, nodding enthusiastically. Anna suggested getting sandwiches as well, and Oscar wrinkled his nose. “I do not know, Anna. Do we really need to eat healthy food?” He asked. Of course, them eating nothing but sweets couldn’t become a regular occurrence, especially since they were adults now and were supposed to be more responsible than that. Of course, they were also lovers, and dreamers, and a bunch of other things that were furthest from responsible. Anna answered his comment about being a mess by saying that everyone was one, a little… and that she was happy to deal with his mess, whatever that was. Wasn’t that the very definition of love – dealing with other peoples’ messes, and letting them deal with yours? “If you are a mess, then you are a beautiful one.” Oscar said with a small smile. “I love you, too.” She always seemed to know what to say to him to make him feel less crazy.

Anna laughed when Oscar wrinkled his nose and asked if they needed to eat healthy food. The logical answer to that question was definitely yes, but Anna wasn't going to push it. He was just getting out of the hospital, where she was sure that he had to be more healthy than he wanted to be. "Cake it is," Anna answered easily, leading him to a bakery that she knew about. It was early enough in the day that they should have a variety. Oscar could have whatever he wanted. She giggled when he said that she was a beautiful mess. "I'm just good at holding my mess," she teased with a wink. Honestly, right now she didn't feel like much of a mess. She was engaged to the man of her dreams, who miraculously didn't die in an attack that killed everyone else. She still felt a bit on top of the world, though she didn't want to tell others about it. Besides that, after graduation she hadn't had to move home with her parents and was instead able to live with her twin. It was great. She grinned when he said he loved her back. Then they reached the bakery and she opened the door. It was a muggle one, but she knew this place and it had good cakes. "What kind do you want?" she asked softly.

Anna agreed to have cake for his first meal out of the hospital, and Oscar beamed at that. He was all too happy to be done with the nutrition potions and bland food that the hospital served in place of meals. It was strange, how they didn’t have the many decadent selections of Hogwarts, but Oscar supposed it was a good transition from the Hogwarts meals to the food that he was going to have to cook on his own. They exited the hospital – his trunks had been transported to where he was going to live via a clever spell – and began ambling down the sidewalk. Anna mentioned that she was good at holding in her mess, and Oscar gave her a smile. “I am not.” He said, though that was already obvious. His messes kind of oozed everywhere, touching anyone who got too close and infecting them with all sorts of sadnesses. Oscar tried not to think about that as he followed Anna into the bakery she had been leading them to, pulling down his sleeves subconsciously to try to cover the scars from the carriage’s wreckage. “I have never eaten a bad chocolate cake.” Oscar offered. Chocolate was a safe option, because it was impossible to get wrong.

Oscar was obviously happy that Anna was going to let him just eat cake, to the point where Anna couldn't help but chuckle as she shook her head ruefully. What was she going to do after they were married and all they wanted were sweets? Probably just go with it ... she'd have to make sure she exercised or got more fruit or something. She wasn't seriously worried about it though. She smiled back at him when he said he wasn't going at holding in her mess. "That's what I'm here for, to help you with your mess and make you smile despite it." She wanted to help him, in every way possible. She knew that he had to endure much more difficult things than she and she wanted to be there for him in any and every way possible. Anna could sense that he was nervous as they walked into the bakery and reached over to take his hand, squeezing it in what was hopefully a reassuring gesture. "Chocolate cake it is then!" she answered easily. "Do you want to eat it here or go home first?" She liked the way that sounded, "home" and thought once again about how happy she was that Lucy was okay with Oscar staying with them until the wedding. She and Oscar would find somewhere to stay after that, but for now it was perfect.

Anna said that her purpose was to help him with his mess, and make him happy despite it, and Oscar couldn’t help but smile at that. “You are here for much more than that.” She was a great many things for Oscar, a subject that he had meditated on extensively when he had begun composing his wedding vows. It was amazing how one person could mean so much to him, but also beautiful. Oscar had to stop himself from thinking too much before he got excessively emotional – it would probably freak Anna out if he started crying in the bakery. Anna asked if he wanted to eat the cake in the bakery or go home first, and Oscar’s eyes lit up. “Home.” He said decisively. It had been a long time since he had had someplace he could really call home. Beauxbatons, while beautiful, was not a home to him, neither was the carriage that he had lived in when he was visiting Hogwarts. The hospital also failed inspection, which meant that Oscar’s homecoming was important for more reasons than one. They were living with Anna’s sister, which was fine, but Oscar hoped to one day find a place for him and Anna to live on their own – a house that they could use to build a home.

Anna grinned over at Oscar when he told her she was there for more than helping with his mess and making him happy. She figured he was right, but at the same time right now she just wanted to have fun. Oscar seemed to be in a somewhat melancholy mood and she wanted it to go away. He was out of the hospital finally! Now was a time for celebrating. She lifted an eyebrow at him and smirked. "Oh? What exactly am I here for then?" she teased softly. His excitement was obvious when he said that he wanted to eat at home and Anna nodded, moving up to the counter and asking for a chocolate cake, in a box. They probably shouldn't eat it all now, but she wouldn't mind having leftovers. It took the shop keeper about a minute to get the cake for her. She paid her and then turned back to her fiance. "Let's go home." The words sounded better than she expected them to. She was excited that she and Oscar had somewhere to go, that it was with someone she trusted so well as she did her sister. She walked out of the bakery and started down the street again. "It's not far from here," she told Oscar with another smile. Anna was excited to show it to him.

Oscar scrunched his nose at Anna when she asked what she was there for. “Everything?” He suggested, his voice only slightly teasing. He was looking forward to making more friends and such at his job, but as things stood, Anna was his best friend as well as his lover, his secret-keeper and protector and everything in between. She was the center of his life – the sun around which he orbited. Anna ordered their cake, and it was ready promptly. That wasn’t a surprise, considering that chocolate was a popular flavor and the bakery probably had a lot of them ready for sale. Anna paid for the cake, and Oscar hesitated forward. He wanted to be the one to carry the cake, but given how poor his balance had been lately, it probably wasn’t the best idea. He would rather eat the cake, and not have it end up on the sidewalk or on his clothes if he fell or dropped it. Anna started down the street, and Oscar followed eagerly. “Do I get a key?” Oscar asked with a small smirk. He knew the answer to that already, but it was fun to tease Anna – much more fun than thinking about dropping a cake.

Oscar seemed to answer her question a bit hesitantly, making his response a question, but Anna grinned all the same. "That sounds wonderful to me," she told him immediately. She wanted to be there for Oscar. She didn't really know what she wanted to do for a job or for anything else right now, but the one thing she was entirely positive of was the person standing beside her. She loved him. Anna wanted to be as close to him as she could possibly be, which was the direction they were headed after his proposal. She could hardly still believe she was engaged already, but at the same time it felt right.
As they walked towards the apartment, Anna started walking a little more quickly. She was so excited to get there and show Oscar where they would be staying. Thank heaven for Lucy, who was letting both of them stay with her. Anna couldn't imagine living the next few months before her wedding with her parents. That would be torture. When Oscar spoke, Anna realized that she was probably going too fast and slowed down a bit. He just got out of St. Mungo's, for goodness' sake. She shouldn't push him too hard so soon. She smiled at his question and rolled her eyes. "Of course you do," she decided to tease him back, "Just be careful while we're living here. If you mistake Lucy for me and kiss her, I don't know if I'll be able to forgive you." She wasn't serious, but all of a sudden she couldn't help but wonder if Oscar would get them mixed up. Others had, since they were identical, but a part of her didn't want him to, even though it would be entirely understandable. Anna still wanted him to know the difference.
