This break had by far been the best Summer that Quinn had, had since starting Hogwarts - for once, she was able to be herself - she didn't have to hide who she was and she didn't have to constantly try to stay out of the way. She didn't have a Foster Home full of muggles that she had to hide the fact that she was a witch from. Instead - she got to actually spend the summer with McGonagall. McGonagall who allowed her space and showed she cared - who let her go out if she wanted to, with a promise to be back by a certain time - but still, she was allowed to do her own thing as well and god that felt good.
She was honestly glad that McGonagall had done something that her other foster parents hadn't done - she trusted Quinn. She had needed to get a few things - mostly a few pens and some art supplies, as well as a few other small things - so she had been allowed to make a trip all on her own, which had been interesting for her and now she had those things she had paused to check out a few books she had been debating to get before the new year began. Which was how she found herself standing in the book store, a bag over her shoulder filled with things as she looked over a small shelf of asorted books.
For the most part it seemed that Flourish and Blott's was fairly quiet today, leaving the usually blonde haired girl to take her time and not be bothered by other people around her. She was inspecting the cover of a transfiguration book when she heard the door opening to allow someone else to enter. Curiously she tilted her head back - tucking a few pink strands behind her ear as she sees who entered behind her.
"Kinsey?" Quinn speaks the name as she gives a quick smile, recognizing the girl instantly - she was one of Sephy's sisters and while Quinn wasn't particularly close with her siblings - it was nice to see a familiar face, still she found her eyes dart around - a tiny hope that perhaps Seph was also nearby. The thought of the other girl brought a faint blush to her face - she wasn't sure if Sephy had actually spoken to any of her siblings yet about the new development in their relationship.

Kinsey was hiding out at Flourish and Blotts. She needed to get out of the house, but she also needed a place that wasn't super crowded with people. It was early enough in the summer that their booklists for the next school year hadn't come yet, so the book shop wasn't too busy yet, which was exactly what Kinsey needed. She needed a break from everyone. She needed some time to herself, to relax and breathe. She loved her family deeply, but all the intentions in that house and girl arguments and such gave her a headache. It didn't help that Riley was on vacation with his family, so she couldn't get a break by spending time with him.
So she left her house early that morning, before the street would be crowded with people, and made her way to Diagon Alley. She was of age now, so she didn't need to ask for permission and apparated there, hurrying into the shop. It took her less than a minute to feel relaxed there, surrounded by all the books. Kinsey wasted no time wandering down the aisles and looking at the different books, pulling out ones that looked interesting and thumbing through them slowly, in absolutely no rush whatsoever.
She actually had no idea how long it'd been when she heard someone nearby, saying her name. She was so focused on her book, she didn't even notice. Kinsey spun around, smiling when she recognized the girl. Quinn, from her own house. She was good friends with Sephy, if Kinsey remembered right. "Hey Quinn," she greeted easily. The girl always had positive intentions, so she felt like she could be relaxed around her. At least, more relaxed than she was around most people. "How is your summer so far?"

Quinn was thankful that she now had the freedom to actually go to Diagon Alley before her booklist arrived for the following year. In summers before this - she had only visited twice before it was time to get her school supplies, and both of them had been with a friend. Now - she had more freedom and McGonagall allowed her to visit and explore a little on her own. She had already spoken and made McGonagall aware that she'd be making at least one other trip before it was time to get school supplies. The current pink haired girl grinned at the thought, she had plans with Sephy to come to Diagon Alley later on, hopefully to get Quinn her very first pet. She wondered if it was how everyone elses home lives were, getting permission and actually being allowed to do things without someone watching over you.
Still she got out a bit and found herself in the book store, she was true to her Hogwarts house in how much she enjoyed reading that was for sure. Already she had two new books tucked in her arm that she planned on getting. It was a little quieter than she had expected but, it was a comforting feeling as she breathed in and wandered around, keeping her selected books close until she spotted the familiar figure. While it wasn't Sephy, it was someone familiar and someone she could speak to, "Surprisingly well so far." she happily spoke, shifting her books as she moved a little closer to speak with Kinsey, "What about you? I haven't heard about you much in Sephy's letters - then again, mostly I hear about her things and Teddy of course." She chuckled and smiled fondly as she spoke.

The girl was in a good mood ... well, at least she had a positive aura coming off of her. She wasn't about to cause any problems, which wasn't a surprise for Kinsey, but it was a good thing. The other good part was that no one else near enough that Kinsey could sense had negative intentions either. That meant that Kinsey might actually be able to have a normal conversation with with her sister's friend. She smiled and nodded when the girl said that she was doing pretty well. "Well I'm glad." Kinsey saw a cart nearby and gestured to it when she saw that Quinn was holding quite a few books. "You can set those there if you want," she suggested with a smile. Then Quinn asked after her summer and Kinsey smiled. "My summer is going pretty well. I'm spending quite a bit of it reading in my room though, so I'm not surprised you haven't heard much about me." She shrugged, entirely unashamed of what she was saying. She liked reading and did spend most of her breaks doing that. "Do you have any fun plans for the summer?"

While she wasn't always in the best mood - it was common that Quinn would be a little... well down or quiet. Not particularly a bad mood but certainly not a happy one. These days she was more often in a good mood rather than not - particularly since the end of year train ride. The thought alone made a soft smile wander onto her lips. Her eyes darted over, a relieved look forming when she saw the cart and quickly took up the offer to place her books down. "Bright idea." she chuckled and kept the cart close as she rested a hand ontop of her books. "Sounds about like what I have been doing for the most part -" she gestured to her stack of books with a little grin, "Of course I've also been doing a few other things, mostly exploring Diagon as much as I can." she gave her own shrug. She also loved to read so she wasn't going to judge the other girl at all for that.
At the mention of fun plans she bit her lip, cause indeed she did have a few plans - mostly involving one of Kinsey's sisters however, "I have a few plans.. I plan on meeting up with Seph a few times, probably after your family vacation though. Oh - and I was thinking of maybe getting an Owl too - your sister offered to help me pick one out." Talking about her bestfriend brought a fond smile to her face, even as she was trying to calm the feelings that were flooding her. "Do you know what you're doing for your family vacation yet?"

Quinn was smiling now, setting her books down when Kinsey pointed out a place where she could. Kinsey shrugged a little at the compliment. It wasn't really that big of a deal, she just figured that if they were going to talk she might as well not make her sister's friend too uncomfortable. Kinsey quirked an eyebrow when the girl said she was exploring Diagon Alley quite a bit. "Exploring? Have you found anything exciting?" She'd never really thought about "exploring" Diagon Alley, or really doing much there out of the ordinary- buying necessary equipment and such. She wasn't too surprised that Quinn was doing the same types of things as her. The girl seemed to like books a lot, even if Kinsey was just judging that by the fact she was a Ravenclaw and the stack she was carrying around a moment ago.
Kinsey smiled when Quinn said she planned on doing things with Seph after the vacation. "Oh yeah? That sounds like fun." She was glad that her sister was going to do things with her best friend during the summer. It would make Kinsey feel less weird about doing the same thing with Riley. She shrugged at the last question. "I think we're going to a beach and then winging it from there," her inflection made the statement a question. "I'm not sure. I'll probably just see when we get there." Kinsey was just excited to be spending time with her sisters and Dustin, who she hadn't spent time with in a while.

At Kinsey's question she couldn't help but give a small shrug and a grin, "One or two things but - nothing extremely exciting I'd say. I did find a curious shop or two which was interesting so there is that." Sadly her exploring wasn't as exciting as she'd hoped but - it was fun all the same to see a few shops that weren't just there for the usual and somewhat ordinary - school supplies. "Honestly it's more interesting being in here and finding some new books - I guess my adventurous side isn't as 'fun' as some others."
Talking about Seph was far more fun and the happy little grin that brightened up Quinn's face wasn't something that could remain un-noticed, "So much fun. Like getting letters is nice and all, but I miss seeing her." she shook her head, a small laugh bubbling from the girl as she shrugs slightly herself, "Well - beaches are always nice - at least from what I have heard, quite beautiful as well, I guess it won't matter really where you go - it's more that you'll be together and have some fun right?" Sometimes she envied others who had brothers and sisters.

Kinsey smiled when the other girl did. They weren't particularly close, but she wanted Quinn to know that she was listening. "What kind of curious shops did you find?" Kinsey asked, almost immediately. She wasn't really one for exploring, so she couldn't help but wonder about it, now that the other girl brought it up. Then her smile widened a bit. "I can understand that. I always think that new books are interesting. I'm not particularly the adventurous type either." Riley was bringing a bit of that side out in her, but it wasn't really there when he wasn't.
She nodded when Quinn explained that seeing Seph was better than letters and stuff. She could definitely understand that. "I know what you mean. Seeing someone in person is much better than talking through letters, though I like those too." Kinsey smiled when the younger girl mentioned their vacation, trying to hide her slight anxiety about the trip. Being with Cara and Diana was often hard for her. "It should be fun and it'll be nice for us to be all together. Not really sure what we'll be doing, but I'm sure that we'll find ways to entertain ourselves."

Sometimes it was a little odd, how she knew people but wasn't particularly close to them. But at the same time, it was also nice - she didn't have to pretend around people either. At the question she gave a small grin, "A few interesting ones - like.. well did you know there is a shop here that just sells door knobs.. I have no idea why though." she shook her head, her green eyes blinking quickly, "There is also this shop that is run by an old man who only seems to speak in riddles, and if you don't know the answer to the riddle he is speaking he'll tell you to come back when you have the answer.. Its really strange. I wonder how he sells anything..." The blonde girl gave a small frown as she spoke, it had been a strange morning of exploring.
"I always love having at least one new book," as a child who had grown up with hand-me-downs from complete strangers, having anything that was 'new' was still something she was getting used to, but she doubted anything would be better than actually having a brand new book that was just her own. Speaking about Seph, even to one of Seph's own siblings - still made the younger girl light up, "I love the letters, don't get me wrong - and I always look forward to getting them, but - seeing her after only getting letters.. it's kinda like a magic of its own." Her smile was completely hard to ignore. "I'm sure no matter what it is, it'll be fun - a family trip always has some fun right?" While to some it might not have been a question, to Quinn it was indeed one - having never gone on any kind of a vacation let alone a family one, it was always something she looked forward to hearing about afterwards.

Kinsey couldn't help the disbelieving look on her face when Quinn started explaining some of the shops she'd noticed. Then she laughed. "No, I haven't heard about either of those shops." Kinsey thought a moment, "but the riddle one sounds interesting. I might have to ask you where that is sometimes. I like riddles." Really, Kinsey just liked anything that made her think. She wanted to be able to enjoy this summer, and maybe trying out new shops was another way to do that. A way other than coming here, which was her go-to shop whenever she came to Diagon Alley. Broadening her horizons wouldn't be a bad thing. "Maybe the prices in his shop depend on whether you answer his riddle correctly or not?" Kinsey suggested with a small smirk. That would definitely be an interesting shop.
Kinsey smiled and nodded when the younger girl started explaining how she liked the letters, but it wasn't the same thing as seeing Seph. "I get that. Seeing someone in person is always better than getting letters, though in a way letters are nice since you can read them as many times as you want." She shrugged, "but I agree that Seph in person is way better than a letter." Kinsey loved her sister, and was just now coming to realize that the distance between them was more her fault than anyone else's. She was nervous that her relationships with the triplets was going to go downhill, and was subconsciously trying to stop that by keeping them away from her a bit. She nodded, "Yeah, it'll be great," she said. Then she heard a clock in the shop chime and realized how late it was getting. "Oh, I need to get going!" She said, only now realizing that if she didn't hurry home, she'd be late for dinner. Her parents would not appreciate that. She smiled at the girl. "Thanks for talking to me Quinn. I'll see you later ... if not later this summer, I'll see you at school." And why wouldn't she? The two were in the same house, after all.
