The Leaky Cauldron, the first place that Luke had met anyone when he first moved to England. He walked through the door from Diagon Alley into the pub which connected to muggle London and looked around. It looked exactly the same, not that it had been too long since he had been here since he had only moved to America in April. Even though it had only been a few months, the Leaky cauldron still felt like a somewhat sentimental place. It was where he confirmed that he had two siblings that he had never met. It was where he had met the woman who helped him. It was where he lived for the first two days of his move. He walked into the pub feeling like it was the place to be tonight. He didn’t have work this evening so he was in no rush to get anywhere and he didn’t have to watch what he drank so he’d be sober for his shift. He could sit back, read the newspaper and relax for the evening. He ordered a pint and took at seat at a table a bit in the corner, enjoying the noises around him from friends reconnecting and laughing.

Nora was at this Leaky Cauldron place, alone. Steve was out shopping or something, she actually didn't know where he had gone, and she liked being on her own, anyway. She was talking with a group of girls, all graduates from Hogwarts and older than her, laughing and having a good time making some new acquaintances. She didn't call people friends easily, but she didn't mind knowing a bunch of people, but she didn't necessarily want to be friends with everyone she met. She was picky. She liked people who were funny and smart, athletic and bookish. Basically, people like her who had a good mix of everything and didn't waste her time. Who knew when to be serious and when to be crazy. She was very, very picky. And she was even more picky with guys. She hadn't really had a boyfriend or a girlfriend, she just got along with a lot of people back home and friendships were more important back there than anything else. Steve, on the other hand, had basically ran out of options back home for girls, so he was probably happy to be somewhere that he could find some new girls, and lots of them. This place was much, much bigger than their hometown. Nora didn't really care if she had a lover or not, as long as she had people who admired her and respected her -- friends, family or otherwise. She did enjoy flirting, though, especially with people who it was a sort of... challenge with. Like older people. That guy who had just walked in was an interesting catch. Her eyes landed on him and one of her new friends looked over, "oooh, good catch, Nor. Too old for you, though," all the girls laughed, and Nora raised an eyebrow at them. "Watch me," she challenged. She stood flipping her hair and pulling her leather jacket a little tighter as she crossed to him as he sat at a table. She stopped near him and sighed, placing both hands on the table and leaning onto it. "My girls there think you're too cute to talk to me," she lied, cocking her head to the side, "mind if I ask you to prove them wrong for a few minutes?"@luke

Luke looked up from his paper when he saw the shadow of a body fall over his table. A woman stood there, wearing a leather jacket and looking like she had something to prove. Luke felt a bit like his father, peering at the person from over the top of his newspaper. But when she spoke, he folded his paper in half and set it back down on the table. The news could wait, couldn’t it? Surely nothing so important had happened. “Too cute to talk to you?” he asked with an eyebrow raised, a crooked smile and his southern accent coming out strongly. Luke thought it was kind of silly, but he enjoyed silly things, life was all about having fun, wasn’t it? “Well I guess I can offer a bit of hospitality.” Luke decided with a nod to the chair next to him at his little table. As the girl sat down, he took a swig of his drink. He liked to think that he was charming enough without alcohol, but it never hurt to loosen up a bit more, especially around such attractive company. “I’m Luke, by the way. And what do they call you?” he asked.

Well, that accent was unexpected, and unbelievably charming. She grinned, sitting in the chair beside him that he had nodded to with invitation. She turned toward him as he spoke further, her eyebrow raised with interest and her elbow resting on the table. "Nora," she gave a short nod, her won French Canadian accent strong. She hadn't been in this country that long, aftee all. It took quite a bit of energy to use her normal voice and not slip into her seductive vampire drawl... For now. "Just moved with my brother," she said, not mentioning her parents. "How long have you been out of the States?" she asked, making the assumption off of that delicious southern sound that had come from his lips. She swore they bred boys differently there. She had met another Southern American at Gringotts the other day -- they were like honey spread thickly over sweet bread. Great to look at, and even better to listen to. @luke

Nora. Her name was Nora. Simple enough. Easy enough to remember. She explained that she had just moved her with her brother, who, Luke assumed was younger than her and placed in her care for the summer while he was getting to know the area and the students who he would be going to school with. “He’s starting at Hogwarts then? It’s a shame what happened to Ilvermorny. I loved it there.” Luke explained with a solemn nod. It was heartbreaking and devastating for so many families and peoples all around country. But, it was nice to all of the sudden have so many people that sounded like him in England. Even if there were so many different accents in America, it was easy to tell that an accent was an American one despite it being southern, northern or other. “I’ve been in London since April.” Luke told her when she asked. “Moved up here from South Carolina.” he added. “Whereabouts are you from?” he asked her.

Luke asked if her brother was starting at Hogwarts and she grinned, nodding, "yes, transferring from a small homeschool,. I heard about your school... I'm so sorry," she said, genuine even though she wasn't telling the whole truth about herself and Steve. "I'm sure it was a beautiful place," she insisted, her brow furrowing a little with the thought of how sad that must be for all the students, and former students, from there. He said he'd been in London since April and she smiled, leaning forward with both her elbows on the table and her chin resting in her hands. "Your accent is to die for," she said, putting a little emphasis on those last three words with some good ol vampire magic. "Oh," she batted her eyes a little and sat up straight, dropping both hands onto the table, arms outstretched toward him a little, "Quebec, Canada. A lovely little magical village. It was a great place, it'll be interesting to see how England differs," how Hogwarts differs. "I've already spoken to some French speakers from France here and our French is quite different, almost completely impossible to understand. But I can get it," she added confidently. @luke

Luke had just assumed that since the girl sounded vaguely American and had now come to England that her brother had been a student at Ilvermorny, however, she put him in his place by saying that her brother was actually transferring from a small homeschool, but then she said that she had heard about Ilvermorny and was sorry to hear it. Everyone was sorry to hear it. It was a tragedy. “Oh sorry, I just assumed. I guess that proves what they say about making assumptions.” Luke said with a laugh. The woman made a comment about his accent and stretched herself out across the table a bit more, draping her arms. “Why thank you, miss.” As she spoke, he felt a weird sensation and then realized why when he got a better look at her. She was a vampire. He hadn’t noticed. He was a little oblivious at times. He was sitting here chatting with a vampire at a pub. A Canadian vampire, she went on to tell him. He wasn’t sure he had ever flirted with a vampire before, but he also didn’t think he was opposed to doing so at all. Luke was an adventurous person and wasn’t really afraid of a lot. “I don’t know French at all so I couldn't tell you anything about that.” Luke admitted with a smirk and then sat up a little straighter, wanting to give off the impression that he wasn’t gonna be scared off by this. “So... Can I get you a drink? Or do you need to get back to those friends?” he asked he, giving a small nod to the table of girls watching them.

He apologized, saying that he just assumed and that it proved 'what they say about making assumptions'. She laughed too, she knew the phrase. "Don't fret it," she said, waving a hand. Then he thanked her for the compliment on the accent, adding an unbelievably adorable 'miss' on the end. She leaned toward him even more, bending her elbow to rest on the table and placing her chin in her hand. He said that he didn't know French at all and she shrugged, showing that it didn't matter. When he sat up straighter she raised an eyebrow, not even hiding the fact that her eyes slightly grazed over his arms, chest and collarbones for a moment before gliding back to his eyes and landing there. "Well, I could teach you a thing or two, if you'd like," she said, her voice low and almost raspy, but she wasn't lacing any vampire magic through it that time. This was simply Nora, being Nora, flirting as Nora. He asked if he could get her a drink, or if she needed to get back to her friends. She turned to look at them with a quick snap, winking at the group before turning back to him. The girls giggled, then continued talking among-st themselves. "A drink would be lovely. You can pick which," she said, raising just one eyebrow again ina sort of challenge. @luke

Before Luke had moved to England, he had never really thought about his accent. Sure, at Ilvermorny, he realized that his accent sometimes made the girls swoon, but he wasn’t the only one there with such an accent. There were plenty of southern witches and wizards like him who spoke with the charm and drawl that came from living below the Mason-Dixon line. However, in a world now where everyone had a different accent, his stuck out like a sore thumb, and he was starting to notice and make it work to his advantage. She suggested that she could teach him a thing or two, supposedly, about French, but he had a feeling that she had a few other things in mind as well. “Yeah, I bet you could.” he admitted with a breathy chuckle. She agreed to a drink and suggested that he bring her back whatever, so he got up, walked over to the bar and ordered two double shots of firewhisky on ice for them, bringing it back and setting hers on the table in front of her. He sat back down and took a swig of his drinking, loving the burn as it slid down his throat.

He said that he bet she could teach him something and she just smirked, holding his gaze for a moment longer before he went to get the drinks. As the fire whiskey was placed in front of her it took all her energy not to laugh. Well, this was fun. She glanced back at her friends to assure that they were watching as she downed the fire whiskey. She laughed, raising her empty glass to him, "thanks," she winked. Then she leaned toward him, "do you do this for all the girls?" she chuckled. She glanced back at her friends who were laughing and waving her back over. She turned back to him. "It was lovely to meet you. I've got to run. Thanks for the drink," and she was off. @luke (done)
