Jace loved dating. He loved the opportunity to get to know new people and he DEFINITELY liked the fact that this Blickwick business or whatever was going to pay for him to go on a blind date. It would be fun, right? When he got the letter back, saying he was going to go pedal boat racing in Hyde Park, Jace grinned all morning. His family wanted to know what was going on and when he told them his dad just rolled his eyes. Still, when he said he was headed out, they wished him luck, except for Indie, who told him to bring her something. Jace laughed and went on his way.
He made his way to the water at Hyde Park, grinning when he saw the pedalos in the water. This was going to be a blast! The main question was, who was he meeting up with? He looked around, waiting for her to show up.

Winnie hadn't planned on it exactly, it had more been a spur of the moment idea that she had to actually sign up for this Blishwick guys dating thing. Honestly she wasn't sure what to expect from it, but at the very least maybe she'd have some fun and maybe meet someone new - what could really go wrong? So when she recieved the letter telling her where to go and what she would be doing for her date - she was honestly excited. This would be better than what she had expected, I mean - she got to race around in some pedal boat! She was grinning at the idea, her inner competitive side flaring up. She didn't tell anyone where she was going or what she was doing - she knew perhaps it would be a better idea to do so but - the idea of telling her sister even that she was going on some blind date. Yeah, maybe it was better not to talk about it until after it happens.
So she got herself ready and then headed off arriving there a little early she simply climbed up a tree, swinging her legs back and forth as she gazed down at the people below - she wondered who this person would be. Being pansexual she honestly didn't think much about genders, it could be some girl or maybe some guy. The bigger question would be though, how the heck was she going to tell who it was she was waiting for? Her nose scrunched up at the thought, did that Blishwick guy just expect them to magically know who their date was or something? It would have been smarter to state in the note 'wear something bright red' or something so your date would know who you are. She gave a small sigh, tucking her hair back behind her ears before dropping herself to the ground, her eyes darting around looking for someone around her age - at least she could say that she was fairly certain she wasn't going to be set up with a Thirty year old - but what if it was someone younger than her? Surely not too much younger though - right?
She could handle this. She nodded to herself before heading over closer to the Pedalos, at least this would be a way to tell who it was she was meeting. There didn't seem to be a ton of people near the boats. As she got a little closer she noticed a boy standing by himself and looking around. He looked close to her age but she couldn't recall seeing him at school so - how old he was she couldn't guess - still, the only other person seeming to be by themselves was some older lady currently yelling into a phone.
"So.." Winnie spoke from behind the boy, "Are you the one I'm supposed to raise these boat things with?"

Jace was watching all the people walking around and smiled as he made eye contact with a few of those. None of the people were on their own though, so he was fairly certain he wasn't looking at his date. A part of him wished that he knew more people here so maybe he could recognize her as she approached, However, that was part of the excitement of this, getting to meet someone new doing something he'd never done before. It should be fun!
He heard someone talking from behind him and turned with a wide smile on his face. "I sure am. I'm Jace, by the way, and yes I am from America." He laughed, positive that she would already have assumed where he was from after hearing him talk. That's all it took for most people. "Are you ready for this?" He hoped she was excited because that would make this whole thing a whole lot more fun.

It would certainly be helpful if this blind date thing had come with a description or something on who she was meeting up with - hell, she didn't even know if she was looking for a guy or a girl! She shrugged at the thought, glancing around again as she let out a small sigh - at least she could guess based on who was alone and who was at least close in her age. Unless of course she was meeting up with someone older than her - now that would be an odd thing she was sure. Spotting the boy was a slight relief though and she eagerly jumped at the chance to approach and speak up.
Her reaction was one of relief as she offered a small grin when he smiled wide, "Sweet." she spoke and looked curious when he added on that he was from America, she wondered briefly if he was from the school she heard about before shaking the thought aside, "I'm Winnie by the way and of course I am!" Winnie gave a wide smile of her own, her eyes lighting up, "I hope you won't be sad to lose a race to a girl though.." she gave a gentle tease at the words.

She looked just as relieved as he felt that they found one another. Man, why did blind dates have to start out so awkward? Couldn't the dating service have sent them a picture of one another so they at least knew who they were looking for? Oh well, now that they found one another it was pointless to be annoyed about that. She didn't say anything about him being from America, which was just fine by him. Honestly, Jace just wanted to have fun so as long as she did too, this would go well.
"Nice to meet you Winnie," Jace said, laughing when she said she was ready and that she hoped he wouldn't mind losing. "Oh don't worry, that won't be a problem," he teased back, "Since I have absolutely no intention of going easy on you just because you're a girl." He knew that wasn't very chivalrous of him and that his step-mom wouldn't be happy at him for not being polite, but this girl seemed to have a similar attitude as him, so hopefully she wouldn't take his words the wrong way. "You ready?" he asked, as he made his way to the pedal boats, walking slowly enough that she could join him.

She was curious about how old this guy was, but it wasn't the most important thing so she pushed the thought aside. He seemed nice enough and she was glad to have been able to find him on her first try in approaching someone - it was a little awkward at first but to her surprise he seemed easy going enough and it made her smile happily. Perfect. She was more than happy to be paired with someone who was fun and willing to tease her right back.
Her own laugh escaped her, grinning quickly as she shoot him a playful look, "We'll see who wins then." she raised her eyes and offered a quick nod, she was impressed already with this guy and more than happy to hear he wasn't going to try and go easy on her, "I'm totally ready to kick your ass." she teased again as she quickly moved after him towards the pedal boats, now she just hoped she could work these pedal boat things out - it couldn't be too hard with such a simple name, but she had never even been on one before - still there was no way she wasn't going to try her best after speaking about beating him.

She was laughing and grinning and Jace nodded to himself. Good. This would be fun, since he was with someone who obviously wanted to have a good time. He grinned as she joked and answered, "Prepare yourself for the probability of losing." He couldn't help it! Jace was a tease, especially when he was excited about something. He laughed. "Good luck with that," Jace shot back as he raced toward the pedal boat. He hadn't ever been on one before, but he'd seen others. This shouldn't be too hard. He jumped in and put his foot on the pedals, trying to propel the boat away from the dock. After about fifteen seconds of pumping them, the boat slowly started moving. Huh. This might take a little more energy than what he was expecting. "How you doing over there?" he called, wondering if it was hard for her as well.

Winnie was always one to more or less go with the flow and just enjoy herself, having a good time was something she felt was a needed thing, and if she was going to go on a blind date well - she would have as much fun as she could, if the date wasn't much of a 'date' well - at least she'd have had some fun and met someone new. Adding in a slight competiveness was a sure fire way to get her going though and she was eager to prove herself as she enjoyed the light teasing between them. "Oh Come now, who says its me who will lose? Hmm - only you I hear." she grinned happily as they hurried over to the pedal boats. As much as she was talking it was an odd little boat - one she hadn't been on before, but she was happy to try something new and it did seem simple enough.
She climbed in and checked things over before pedalling, raising her eyes as it took a bit to get going - this would be fun, if perhaps a little bit challenging, her laughter bubbled out as she glanced over at him when he spoke, shrugging her shoulders as she pedalled, "It's a challenge but interesting - although I'm not sure why these boats are said to be so fun, it seems more of a work out than anything else."

Jace laughed when she argued that she wasn't going to lose. "Well, there are only the two of us around, so it's my word against your word. I guess we'll just have to see who can actually do it." He was glad that she seemed to be as competitive as he would. That would definitely make this more fun, because they would both try.
Once they were both in the boats and he was finally moving, Jace looked over and nodded at her words. He couldn't help but laugh as well. "Right? I was not expecting it to be this hard." At least he knew it wasn't easy for her either. That was his admission wouldn't make him seem like as much of a wimp. Not that he thought of himself that way. Jace was actually pretty confident when it came to these sorts of things and his abilities. "Wait," he called. "Where is the race supposed to end? And did we already start or do we want to start somewhere together so the loser doesn't have any excuses?" Jace laughed again. He was just so excited to be trying something new.
