Kinsey was outside, trying to take a breather. They were back home after the family trip and a part of her was glad. She liked the beach and it was nice spending time with her sisters, but at the same time it was stressful. She felt like she had to tiptoe around them, make sure she didn't stress any of them out. Thanks to Diana she was more worried about that than ever. She didn't want to lose everyone like she had her sister. She could still hardly look at her, even months later.
It wasn't long before she heard her mother's voice calling her from the house. Kinsey sighed and made her way there. She also heard her mother calling Diana's name and cringed. Her parents knew that Diana and she used to be close, but she wasn't sure they were aware of the fact that the two didn't talk anymore. This could be awkward. "I need you and Diana to go to the store for me," Mom said with an easygoing smile on her face. Kinsey could tell that she thought this was a good thing. She probably thought the two wanted to go together, and Kinsey didn't want to break the news to her mother that the two didn't talk anymore. She forced a smile. "All right," she said, looking to see if her sister came yet.

Diana had, to no surprise, been avoiding most of her family since summer started. Blaming work, of course. Curse breaker training was serious business after all. But in reality it was because she knew that Elaine now had full access to her. And when Elaine decided to use it to her advantage she didn’t want her family getting caught in the crossfire. Kinsey in particular was a sensitive subject. She loved her slightly younger sister dearly, but you wouldn’t think it with the way she acted. She avoided the brunette Bainbridge like the plague, not even saying in the same room longer than necessary. Why though? Because of Kinsey’s ability. Kinsey had developed a magical sense that made her… unnaturally aware of people's intentions. Sort of like a Sneak-o-scope. For Diana this was a particularly dangerous ability because she was bound to Elaine’s will. So if Kinsey was around at the wrong time, she’d pick up on it. She’d realize that Diana was up to something (even if it was against her will.), and Kinsey was the sort of person that didn’t just let something go.
Diana had thought lying and intentionally hurting her younger sister would be enough to keep them separated. That Kinsey would stay as far away from Diana as possible. That the younger girl would hate her older sister and not want anything to do with her. Unfortunately, their mother hadn’t gotten the memo apparently.
Her mother was currently calling both her own, and Kinsey’s names. Painfully slow, Diana heeded the call and started to make her way across the house, mind reeling. What did her mother want with her and Kinsey? Maybe just needed their help with something. Or had to ask them something. She hoped it was that option. But she’d just stepped into the room when she heard her mother say she needed the girls to go to the store. Diana stopped walking then, still in the doorway. Her expression somehow managed to remain quite still and not give away her immediate emotional distress but Kinsey would probably know better. Not because of her intentions but because they’d been close at one point. THere were some things you just couldn’t forget, even when a relationship turned sour.
Pursing her lips together, the older girl took a deep breath. ”What do you need at the store?” She asked, keeping a stoic and straight expression, her gaze avoiding her sister intentionally. THey could survive a trip to the store together. Couldn’t they?

Diana was there, in the room. Kinsey realized this before turning to look for her. Her intentions weren't bad at all, nothing like that day when something went terribly wrong, and she also didn't seem broken like the last time Kinsey had been close. Diana didn't know about that. She had no idea that Kinsey saw her and Dominic interacting with one another in the library and Kinsey planned to keep it that way, even though the thought of that day made her shiver. She didn't understand how her sister trusted him.
However, all it took was one glance at her sister for Kinsey to know that going to the store with Kinsey was the last thing she wanted to do. Kinsey looked back to their mother, pretending like that didn't hurt. She was doing a lot of pretending these days, not that her older sister cared. There was no way Kinsey would confide this in her. Her mother listed off a few things that she needed, simple things like eggs and milk, flour and sugar. Couldn't she get those the next time she went to the store? Kinsey nodded and smiled at her mother. "Sure. We'll be back soon," she said, making her way to the door. She didn't want to do this, but she also didn't want to let her mom know how bad things were between the two sisters.
Once they were outside, she spoke. "Don't worry Diana. I won't try to make conversation or make you talk to me. We can just go in silence, split up when we get there to get Mom's supplies and then come back." She fully intended on doing that too. She didn't want to have another row with her sister.
