@evelyn Jimbo could feel a grin taking over his face. This girl caught on quick and learned even faster. Most clients would fight what he was saying, trying to tell him that apologizing for their mistakes was a part of them, or some crap like that. All that did was show a lack of self-confidence. The dates that overlooked those things were probably the same way, as it was a standard default for people who had no idea what they were doing. Going in more confident would help the other person as well, and in his experience, probably lead to a higher success rate of future meet-ups in the long run. It was never an absolute, since he only dealt in absolutes when he was paid to do so, but it was a better chance than most would have. “Bingo!” he said, pointing at her. “If you can do that, then you’ll be golden. Just don’t expect to hit it out of the ballpark on this upcoming one. Last thing you want is a false confidence. These things take practice and experience.” Jimbo let her think it over for a few seconds before continuing. “But if you do succeed, good job,” he flashed her another smile. As for anything else, wise words, or whatever it was this job was supposed to do for people, Jimbo shook his head. “You learn fast, Miss Estrada. Just remember what we’ve talked about today, and I have no doubt you’ll have zero problems going forward. If you do have any other troubles though, you know where to find me.”

Wait a second. Now he was pleased with her? A part of Ev felt confused. He went from telling her to stop and seeming somewhat irritated to tell her that she was right on. Granted, when Ev decided to summarize what she understood from his small speech, she assumed she got it right, but she didn't expect this type of a reaction. She gave a smile, happy about being right. She was always happy when she got things right. That was just how Ev was. She nodded as he explained that it might take time for her to find someone that she got along well with. That made sense. Logically, it could take years before she found the person who was just right for her. "Thank you," Ev said, since he seemed to be ending the conversation. "I feel a lot better about this blind date thing now," she admitted, assuming he would like to know that. It was his job, right? "And I'll be back if I have other questions or troubles or whatever." Now that she met with Mr. Blishwick in person, Ev felt comfortable going to him if she had any needs. She trusted him, which definitely was a good thing. She sighed, "Well, I guess I'd better finish getting ready and go meet my date," she told him with a shrug. If he had anything else to say, now was the time. If not, she was going to leave. "Thanks again."

@evelyn “Excellent!” Jimbo exclaimed as she said that she felt better about the blind date. That was why he was here to begin with. A lot of his colleagues in the advice-giving business would call his free consultations and blind date roulettes a waste of time and money. Jimbo didn’t see it that way. He had his ability and the means to put people where they would always belong. Plus, the pureblood families still setting up arranged marriages more than paid for his fun and games in the blind dating department. He was sure if he explained the finer details of those payments to an average customer like Miss Estrada, her jaw would drop to the floor instantly. There was a reason that the archaic betrothal system was still used at his shop. While he disliked it at times, disagreeing with it when the families practically threw money at him just for consultations and paperwork, it was hard to look the other way. At least his vices there allowed him to truly help everyone else. Perfect happiness and world harmony was never going to be achievable, even if there were thousands of Jimbo Blishwicks in the world. If a few stuffy, pureblooded families ‘suffered’ from their children not being compatible because they were more concerned with bloodline purity, then he would take that over failing hundreds of other happy couples. For the most part though, the arranged ones had a way of figuring it all out. They didn’t need him for that. Jimbo grinned when she explained that she needed to leave to get ready for her date, but would be back if she had any more questions. That was why he was here, after all. Secretly, that was also the goal of the blind dates; to get them wrapped up in wanting to know the true meaning of love. Jimbo didn’t view it as a scam, so much as it was a way to help people before they even knew they needed help. “You’re welcome. Good luck! And be confident in yourself!” That was really all he had to say at this point, feeling that it was a perfect summarization of their entire conversation. [Jimbo End]
