Annika had always been a little quiet, at least if you asked someone like her teachers or people who barely know her that would be the answer you would get - however if you went and asked those she was closest too, like her cousins or parents - you would find that the answer would be extremely different. Quiet or not though. Annika had been going through a lot, it was a huge adjustment. After finding out she wouldn't be going back to Ilvermorny this year, and that she'd be moving to London. Only to end up moving to a different country and not have her parents there as well. Well needless to say the young redhaired teen was having a few struggles.
So finding anything that would bring a little comfort, of something even a little familiar - well, she was happy to find that in whatever form it would take. Her cousins were busy exploring Diagon Alley, and while on a normal day - Annika would be eagerly running along with them - instead she found herself heading into a Book store. Instantly feeling that familiar comfort - America or London, books held the same comforting scent that sent a happy feeling down her spine.
Flourish and Blotts was everything she had heard about an more. The shelves seemed to be endless and everywhere she looked were either shelves or small - and even large piles of books stacked up. She amost skipped over to the nearest shelves, eager eyes lighting up as she reads over the titles of each book. Perhaps not everything was so different.

Oona had already done most of her school shopping with her cousin Indiana, but there was nothing to say that she couldn’t go back to Diagon Alley to buy more books, especially now that she didn’t have to hide that she was a witch from her American family members.
She had just arrived at Flourish and Blotts, guessing that the people who worked there were probably tired of seeing her now. It was truly a struggle not to have access to the Hogwarts library over the summer. More of the books at Flourish and Blotts tended to be less academic than not, and—frankly—Oona didn’t have much interest in reading Spartan or Seven or anything like that.
As she lamented the number of fiction titles staring back at her, Oona felt a strange sensation that could only be described as déjà vu. A girl about her age with bright red hair was browsing the shelves.
“Indie!” Oona smiled before she had even seen the girl’s face. It didn’t even register with her that the girl must have been close to a foot shorter than her cousin… until she had already spoken. Realizing her mistake, Oona shut her mouth and scrambled to move behind a shelf before the girl who wasn’t her cousin could see her.

Annika had most of her school things already sorted out, if there was one thing that the people she was staying with were good at - it was being organized and prepared. Honestly if school began tomorrow - Annika would be ready, at least - when it came to her things. Mentally though - Annika was beyond nervous and very anxious. She had been comfortable and happy at Ilvermorny - Hogwarts was different and it was so far from her home. Being here though - Flourish and Blotts was, honestly the most comforting place she had been since arriving in England at all.
Books had always been a comfort for her, old books, new books - magical books or non-magic.. it didn't matter what kind, they were a familiar and comforting thing. She had just started to relax and picked a book off one of the shelves - it appeared to be a school book, potions perhaps she noted as she flicked it open to look at a page or two. It was above her year but - it was interesting at least. When she heard someone call out a name - that very much was not her own. With a puzzled expression she tilted her head, glancing around and not seeing any other student aged people around she peered back around. How odd - she could have sworn a girl was there just a moment ago.
Carefully she placed the book back where it had come from, moving around the shelves before offering a small smile as she spots a girl seeming to be hiding behind a shelf. "Hello, are you looking for someone?" she spoke carefully, her accent was - while not particularly odd - she did have a slight accent that from what she had experienced already did seem to puzzle some people she had met since being in London.

The realization that her attempt to hide behind the bookshelf hadn’t worked came quickly, as soon as the girl whom she had mistaken for her cousin came around the side of her hiding place. “Hello,” the girl, who—seeing her face now—certainly wasn’t Indiana, said to her, “are you looking for someone?”
Oona hadn’t gone looking for her cousin, per se, but that didn’t mean that she would say no to running into Indie while out and about, either. Not-Indiana sounded American from her accent, so Oona guessed that, even though this girl wasn’t her cousin, she probably did know her and would forgive her for the mix-up.
“For a moment, I thought you were my cousin,” Oona explained to the redhead apologetically. “Indiana Hunter,” she added for clarification, since her own accent didn’t make it apparent that her cousin was actually American. “Do you know her?”

Annika offered a small smile, there didn't seem to be any harm in talking to the girl - perhaps she could help some how, or if not that - maybe meet someone close to her own age. She hadn't yet had the chance to meet many people close to her age that weren't also transfers from Ilvermorny. The slight idea of meeting someone from Hogwarts was a bit of an exciting one if she was honest to herself.
She looked back curiously when the girl spoke, admitting that it had been a slight mistaken identity at first. While it was a tiny bit of a disapointment, she did brighten at the mention of a familiar name. "Indiana Hunter.. Oh, I believe I do - I think she was at Ilvermorny with me - in my year actually." she brightened at the fact, if this girl was a cousin - it meant the chances were that Indiana was also going to be transfering as well, so she might actually know someone else.
"Oh! Sorry!" the young red head quickly apologized, shaking her head before carefully holding out her own hand as she gave a wide smile, "I'm Annika, Annika Mercer - what's your name?"
