Gilderoy was still coming off the high from his beach party yesterday. He wasn’t going to say he was responsible for the high chances that the two schools would get along just fine. No, that could be someone else’s job and even if it never happened it didn’t change what he had done. At least in his mind he was the hero here. He was sure that a few things could have gone better and as he walked down Diagon Alley those thoughts also raced in his mind. Still it was a success to Gilderoy and at least most of the Americans seemed to be alright in his book.
Still he had no where in mind to go and no one to spend the day with at the moment. One of the great injustices in the world it seemed. After such a great party he now spent the next day alone. Eventually he did find himself in the robe shop. While he didn’t need new robes it wasn’t like having a new robe would be a bad thing after all. One particular robe stood out to him as he perused the shop. Why it kept catching his eye he wasn’t sure. It was two different shades of green with an almost lime green trim to it. It was terrible and gaudy but none the less it only made it stand out more. Finally he gave in and picked it to look and possibly laugh at it a little more. There was one other student walking around the store and turned his attention to her for a moment as she was nearby. “This is just terrible isn’t it?” Gilderoy asked with a laugh, the only thing this robe had going to it was that it stood out. “I mean I guess if you wanted to go around looking like a walking shrub this is the robe for you, right?”

Lusie couldn’t exactly remember how she had got to the robe shop. She had let her thoughts drift as she walked the Alley. She had seen something in the window that drew her into the shop, and while Lusie wasn’t always one who cared much about clothes or how she looked, it didn’t mean that she wasn’t interested in pretty things. For the most part, Lusie dressed modestly and professionally. She always wore something she wouldn’t mind being photographed in, even if it was just jeans and a sweater. She knew that there was a such thing as bad publicity when it came to the Royal Family and she never wanted to be the cause of that. Lusie saw a lovely, very soft looking black sweater in the window sporting the Hufflepuff crest over the left breast. Lusie had house sweaters, of course. Everyone did, but a lot of hers had lost their soft texture over the years and a new, soft one seemed like the perfect thing! So she went into the shop to inquire about the piece. The sales woman pointed her towards the rack of Hufflepuff gear. There were a few others in the shop, but Lusie only recognized one of them, Gilderoy Lockhart Jr. A boy a year older than her in Ravenclaw house. He was quite the popular one and was well known around the castle. A few minutes after she began to browse the racks, he spoke, seemingly to her. Lusie turned to look at him and giggled when she saw the man holding up a multi-shaded, green robe. “Oh well maybe it’d better suit someone with green eyes.” Lusie suggested with a lighthearted shrug. It definitely didn’t suit him. “Or someone who really wants to stand out in a crowd.” she offered.

Gilderoy laughed as the girl he had spoken too gave her reaction to the robe. He couldn’t see how, even if someone had green eyes, they could have pulled off this robe. It was ridiculous to him in so many ways. She was right about letting someone stand out though. It was part of the reason he had even bothered to look and pick it up, it stood out. Not for a good reason though, all he could think was this was an eyesore. “You might have a point,” Gilderoy replied with a nod looking back to the girl, he himself enjoyed standing out but not enough to ever wear this. “Still you’d have to really want to stand out and not be bothered with being confused with a hedge or something.” He laughed, as it was just the only way he could describe the robe. “That or you’re looking for a robe to match your pet bowtruckle.” He chuckled once more before realizing he had just pulled a stranger into a conversation and didn’t even give his name. “Sorry, I’m Gilderoy, I just had to share how awful this thing was with someone.”

“Maybe someone who buys that would want to be confused for a hedge. It’s brilliant if you’re trying to hide in a park.” she giggled. The young man then went on to introduce himself to her. Lusie bit her lip as he said his name and that he just had to share with someone. She didn’t mind the casual conversation, especially when the first words out of the persons mouth weren’t: ‘aren’t you a princess?’ “Yeah, I know you. We go to school together. I’m roommates with Fiona Ebner. I think you guys are friends?” Lusie explained. It was fine with her if Gilderoy Lockhart Jr. didn’t know who she was. Why would it bother her? Of course, Lusie knew what had happened with Fiona and Gilderoy, at least as much as her roommate had cared to share. But she also knew that the two had began speaking again recently. “I’m Lusie.” The brunette introduced herself anyway, almost happy to have to. She felt like she stuck out like a sore thumb, no matter how much she wanted to just be seen as any other student and not English Royalty. “Are you just doing some robe shopping then?” she asked.

Gilderoy just laughed as this girl attempted to defend the robe. It was funny to listen to someone else's opinion on the robe. “Yeah, I’m sure they wouldn’t be found with this thing on.” Gilderoy replied as he put the robe down back on to the rack. Hopefully with having finally looked at it and joked about it he could stop finding it repeatedly in his view. After introducing himself he couldn’t help but feel like she looked familiar from somewhere. It had to be from school he assumed but he felt it was more than that. Still she confirmed she knew who he was and that she went to Hogwarts. She had also heard about him from Fiona which made things just a little... weird. It didn’t help that she asked if Fiona and him were friends, something he even wondered at times. “Something like that.” Was Gilderoy’s only response, “So she tell you anything terrible about me?” He added with a laugh merely joking yet curious of what Fiona just might have told this girl.
“Nice to meet you Lusie.” Still as they talked he felt like he knew her from somewhere besides school but just couldn’t place it. Lusie asked if he was here robe shopping which would make sense after all as he was in the robe shop. “I hadn’t really planned on it today, I was just kind of wondering around the alley and found myself in here.”

Lusie hadn’t meant to make anyone feel uncomfortable by bringing up Fiona, however, without saying how she knew who he was, she felt like it would have been weird to just agree that she already knew him. “Oh absolutely. You know how much Fiona loves to talk.” Lusie agreed with a small smirk, her roommate was a very private person, not unlike herself. She knew the brief overview of the Fiona and Gilderoy story, however, she didn’t know the details, and she was pretty sure she never would. And she was pretty sure that she didn’t want to. It wasn’t her business. She didn’t want people knowing things about her that weren’t their business. “It is a pleasure.” Lusie gave a small, delicate nod when he said that it was nice to meet her. Lusie was a fairly proper person, as was to be expected given her upbringing and family. “I am actually in the same situation. I just saw this sweater in the window and couldn’t really pass it up.” she admitted, the Hufflepuff crested sweater draped over her arm.

Gilderoy laughed slightly as Lusie brought up Fiona some more. She did have a point, it was very likely Fiona hadn’t shared much with the girl about him. “She can be quiet sometimes, well a lot of the times actually.” He replied agreeing with Lusie for a moment. Still Fiona and him always could talk on and on but he knew how she was or at least had been around some other people. Fiona liked to keep to herself most times. He did wonder for a moment what she was up too, probably home with a book having the time of her life he guessed. Lusie explained how she just wondered in here as well after seeing the sweater she was holding in the window. “It’ll look nice on you,” He replied, always having a compliment ready for when the need arise. “Still you sure I can’t talk you into an awful green robe, someone needs to take this thing home someday.” Gilderoy added with a laugh as he was just kidding, not wanting to wish that robe on an enemy.

“Yeah - she’s a witch of few words.” Lusie agreed with a smile. But she loved her roommate nonetheless and wouldn’t want her any other way. There were times in which Lusie wasn’t up for conversation either, and at those times Fiona was the best companion. It was almost a little stressful being inside the shop anyway, technically, members of the royal family were not allowed to go shopping on their own. The rule was very outdated, and for her protection, she knew, she was supposed to allow a guard to accompany her, but the guards weren’t magic, and didn’t know that the royal children were, so she felt like Diagon Alley was almost a free pass. “Oh well thank you.” Lusie said, feeling a little awkward about receiving the compliment, but knowing that it would be improper to improper to disregard such a statement. He tried again, jokingly, she was sure, to get her interested in the green cloak and she giggled, “No - I don’t think I’d be allowed to be seen in that.” she admitted with a small shrug. Her wardrobe, besides her uniform for class, was highly decided upon for her.

Gilderoy just smirked slightly as Lusie explained how Fiona was a person of few words. Now wasn’t that the truth at times, it never stopped them from talking before but he knew how she could be with some people. “Yeah she can be at times. Still it’s nice to have a break from the people who just can’t be quiet.” Gilderoy laughed as he knew some people like that, some even claimed he was always talking. Yet when it's someone as amazing as himself it’s a crime not to share that voice and opinion with the world. He just smirked as the girl thanked him for a compliment which there was no need. He was just being honest and himself. Gilderoy did laugh as Lusie claimed she wouldn’t be allowed to be seen in something like the green robe. “No, personally I don’t think anyone should be allowed to be seen in that thing either.” Gilderoy added with a laugh as it was the truth, at least in his eyes.

Lusie smiled with a nod when gilderoy continued to explain why he liked being around Fiona. Lusie, who had never really had that kind of relationship with anyone in her life, wasn’t really sure how to respond or what to say, instead, a smile and nod was the best she could do. Gilderoy agreed that he didn’t think that anyone should be allowed to wear the bright green robes and laughed as he spoke. Lusie appreciated someone with a good sense of humor. She had a decent sense of humor, she thought, but it rarely came out, and when it did, it came out in the form of teasing her siblings, mostly, her brothers as Susan didn’t do quite so many things that Lusie deemed silly. She didn’t often let her teasing and sassy personality out in public or with friends, it was too easy to have it misinterpreted and then fed to the press. “Well is there anything in here that does catch your eye? In a good way, I mean.” she asked.

Gilderoy looked around the store while he spoke to Lusie, it was a little weird to be talking about Fiona. He had just started talking to her to begin with after so long and now he was talking about her to another girl. Still he didn’t bring it up so it was far more natural he supposed. They had been known to be together often before they started avoiding each other. The conversation went back to clothes and the shop they were in and he was a little thankful for that. She asked if anything else in the store caught his eye and he smirked ever so slightly. “Besides you? Yeah there are a few things here and there. I’m not really shopping for clothes anyway I was just bored. Still I’m glad I came in as I’m glad you did too.” He couldn’t help the obvious compliment in his words. Both because he enjoyed the conversation with Lusie so far and he just couldn’t let an opportunity like that go back.

His words caught her off guard and actually began to put her a little bit on edge. She knew that he didn’t mean them hostilly, but, she couldn’t help but feel her shell began to close around her a little tighter. She had heard the rumors, as had most of the school, about Gilderoy Lockhart Jr. and what kind of a person he was and how he behaved around women. Lusie wanted nothing to do with that. She now mostly understood why Fiona had kept her distance for all these years, Fiona was nearly as guarded as she was. “I’m not a big fan of it either. In fact, I should get going. I got what I came in for, so, no use lingering about.” Lusie decided, a quick and easy way to get herself out of the uncomfortable sensation for the flirty male acquaintance. “It was nice to speak with you.” Lusie politely insisted before taking her purchases (4 of the same sweater) to the counter to pay before exiting the shop, back out into the crowded alley.
