Hugo was in Diagon Alley for one purpose, and that was to find his best friend, Sav. He was back from his vacation and thought about owling his friend, but decided it would be much more fun to run into him. Also, he was almost positive that his friend was finding some way to keep himself busy, even during the summer.
Normally, Diagon Alley was the last place Hugo would look for his friend, but there was a new broom out, so he was almost certain that Sav would be coming here at one point or another during the day. Which meant Hugo was hanging around outside the store, keeping a sharp eye out for his friend. He knew how much Sav loved Quidditch, so this was the best bet.
Finally he saw his friend and Hugo made his way over quietly, sneaking up on his friend. "Fancy seeing you here," he said casually once he was right behind Sav, an easy grin covering his face. He knew he'd be able to find Sav here.

Sav did enjoy spending his free time in the Alley, especially with all of the new students wandering about, looking for someone tall, dark and handsome to help show them around the new city. Savtaj MacMillian was happy to oblige. Who was he if not the perfect person to welcome the new, especially female, students? The alley was the perfect place to see the new students, since it was somewhere that they had to come to get all of their school supplies, their books and their robes. The perfect place for a handsome Quidditch player to sweep them off their feet.
Sav was normally content just hanging out, grabbing a drink or something to eat and just sitting at a bench or walking down the alley. However, today he knew that a new broom was being released, and while he wasn’t really eager to be one of the fans in the crowd, and would never be seen fawning over a broom at all, he wanted to take a peak, he wanted to know what some of the players would be flying this year.
As he walked towards the shop, he saw Hugo waiting nearby, Sav wondered if he had been waiting to see him. He chuckled. “Fancy, indeed.” he responded with a smile. “What are you doing here?” he asked.

Sav laughed when he heard Hugo and he chuckled in return. He was so glad that his friend didn't seem too busy. He'd been hoping for that, of course. Hugo shrugged at his friend's question. "I was looking for you," he answered honestly. "I was thinking we should do something fun today because I'm bored and I haven't seen you in ages." Hugo grinned slyly, "unless you're busy with something or happen to have plans?" Yes, he was teasing his friend. He knew Sav wasn't a huge fan of making plans, but he knew that sometimes everyone had plans. "You have any idea for something we should do?" Hugo asked.

Hugo admitted that he had been here looking for Sav and Sav smirked. He liked that he was someone that people sought out, even if it was just Hugo, and even if he would do the exact same thing if he was bored and knew where to find Hugo. But any chance to have his ego stroked was something that Sav would accept. “Well I’m not doing anything really, just hanging out, checking out some of the new students.” Sav admitted. The Americans being around had done wonders for him. He had been getting lots of attention, and they were people that didn’t know him, which meant he could brag about being Quidditch captain as much as he wanted because they didn’t know that he was in line for captain already and, while most people weren’t surprised that Sav was now the captain, the new people didn’t know. Sav shrugged when his friend asked if he had any ideas of things they could do. “Wannah just walk around? Maybe we can help a few lost American girls find their way around.” he smirked. He knew that Hugo had a girlfriend and he liked the girl and would never do anything on purpose to make Hugo uncomfortable. But Sav liked playing the Hero.

Hugo laughed, not at all surprised when his friend said that he was just checking out the new students. Hugo lifted an eyebrow at him, "Have you done anything with any of them?" His tone was curious. Hugo hadn't had the chance to interact with any of the Americans yet. He was busy at home and with Xan and on his vacation, but he was a bit curious. They would be spending the next school year at Hogwarts, so it was probably a good idea to make some friends with them. Sav asked if he wanted to walk around and help lost American girls and Hugo chuckled. "Sure thing," he answered easily. "Lead the way, man," Hugo took a few steps away from the shop and waited to see which direction Sav wanted to start out with. He obviously wasn't looking for anything but friendship with the new American girls, but he had no problem making friends and being Sav's wingman. It's what they did for their first six years of school, after all.

Sav was slightly surprised at how forward and blunt his friend was being. He knew that Hugo was an honest person, but he also had expected him to beat around the bush a bit more when it came to the intimate details of such a conversation. The two of them hadn’t had a lot to talk about in this department before, Sav, while having a long list of girls which he had intimate encounters with, hadn’t gone further than snogging and light touching until just the end of the last school year, and his encounter with the probably dead Durmstrang girl had still gone untold, even to his best friend. “Not with any of the Americans yet.” he admitted. The yet he added onto the end of his answer said a lot more than the answer said, he was fairly sure. Sav was a firm believer in wishful thinking. He had to have the right mentality to make anything he wanted to happen, actually happen. As much as he wanted to tell his friend about the girl-with-no-name, the fact that she likely had died in the explosions made him want to keep the encounter to himself. “So how’s Xan?” Sav asked as the two of them started walking down the Alley, “you see a lot of her this summer?”

Hugo could see the surprise on his old friend's face and couldn't help but smirk. He knew that this wasn't normally something the two of them talked about, but after their conversation at the end of last year, he wanted to know how Sav was doing and how he felt about things and Hugo really wasn't one to mess around when he had a specific question in mind. He lifted an eyebrow when Sav said he hadn't done anything with any Americans yet. "Oh, so you haven't met any or talked with them or anything?" Hugo would be a little surprised if that was the case, seeing as how he knew his friend liked to meet new people and have a good time and such. He smiled when Sav asked about Xan. "She's doing well. We went on that vacation with my family at the beginning of the summer, so that was nice to be able to spend some good time with her and the rest of them." Mostly, Hugo just wanted it to be able to be with her, but he assumed Sav already knew that. He knew how much Hugo cared for his girlfriend. "Other than that, I've seen her a bit, but not every day or anything." Hugo shrugged. "Have you done anything particularly eventful this summer yet?" He was honestly a little disappointed by the fact that he and Hugo hadn't done much together so far, but wanted to make sure Sav was enjoying the summer before their last year of school.

“No I’ve met some and talked to them… I haven’t done anything… fun... with them yet.” Sav confirmed with a smirk, knowing his friend would understand what he meant. He had just assumed that was what Hugo had been asking about, however, he did know that his friend was a lot more innocent than Sav was and didn’t necessarily think about all of those things on a daily basis, or far more than just a daily basis. It was nearly a common thought for Savtaj. Sometimes it was annoying, but it was also what made him who he was. Hugo then explained that he and his girlfriend went on a vacation with his family and it was nice to be able to spend a lot of time with her and with his family. Sav nodded. “That sounds like a fun time.” he agreed. He had never brought a girl on a family thing. His parents had met Roxy when they were dating, but that was years ago, and Sav wasn’t sure that it counted since they had known Roxy already before they even started dating. Hugo asked if Sav had done anything particularly fun this summer and Sav honestly just shook his head and shrugged. “I’ve just been hanging out in the Alley mostly.” he said again. “ Haven’t gone anywhere, and I don’t think we’re planning to this summer. I think mum’s busy enough.” Sav admitted.

Hugo rolled his eyes at Sav's comments about fun ... and at his smirk. He knew exactly what Sav was talking about and couldn't help but tease him a little bit. He was glad that Sav seemed to be more himself now than he had at the middle of the year. He'd definitely been struggling a bit then. Hugo worried for him a bit, but he seemed to be doing much better now. All the better. "Well you know, meeting and getting to know them is a good place to start, Sav," he teased, unable to help himself. He knew that Sav knew what he was doing. He was just glad to be with his friend. He nodded when Sav mentioned staying here. "I think that's what I'll be doing for the rest of the summer too, and I'm glad. Sometimes I get tired with lots of travel and such. It's nice to actually be able to relax a bit on the break, you know?" He was sure his friend would understand, even if it was just a little bit.

Sav smirked when his friend started to tease him. “Yeah - you may be onto something there. That how you got Xan?” Sav asked, teasing on his own. He knew of course, how Hugo had met Xan and how they had got together, he knew about it since it started, it had been so long it would have been crazy if Sav hadn’t got the full story by now from his best friend. Not that he prayed too much into Hugos personal life, but there was a mutual understanding. A mutual communication agreement. Which was why it was weird that Sav hadn’t told Hugo about the Durmstrang girl yet. He wasn’t sure that he was going to since he wasn’t sure if she was dead or alive. Hugo mentioned that he’d probably be spending most of the rest of the summer just hanging out in the Alley too and Sav nodded, “Yeah sure - what about you? What have you been up to thus far?” The Gryffindor asked.

Hugo laughed at his friend's ridiculous question. "Of course it is. Can't date a girl if you don't want to get to know her." He let his eyes narrow at his friend. "You'll let me know the next time you're really interested in someone, right?" Hugo hoped his friend would agree to that. He wanted to stay a part of his friend's life, since Sav was such an important part of his. He shrugged when his friend started asking about his summer. "I went on a trip with my family. Xan came," his smile returned at the thought of that vacation. It was perfect, so much time with those he loved. "We got to spend lots of time on beaches, relaxing. It was pretty nice. Now I'm just hanging around, waiting for school to start." He thought a moment and then laughed. "Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you, but I got made Head Boy." Hugo waited to see his friend's reaction to that. He thought it was pretty funny, since he loved to pull so many pranks at the school.

Hugo told Sav all about his vacation with his family and Sav nodded along. It sounded like a nice trip, especially since he was able to bring Xan. That was nice, Sav was glad that she had been feeling up to the trip, he was glad that she was feeling better overall. He didn’t know the girl well, but he did know how much she meant to Hugo, and that was all he needed to know to care about her. Hugo then announced, in a rather casual way, that he had been named Head Boy. Sav smiled and patted his friend on the back in a congratulatory way. “Nice job man - I was wondering if it would go to you. Makes sense.” he smirked. “I’ve been made Quidditch Captain.” he added. “I guess the two of us could get away what whatever we want this year then.” he teased. Sav knew Hugo wasn’t above the rules.

Hugo grinned at his friend, not believing him. "Really? You thought there was a chance that I would get made head boy? After all the pranks I pull and all the mischief I get into?" He called him out on it before chuckling. "You getting made Quidditch captain is no surprise. You'd just better lead Gryffindor to victory this year." Yes he was teasing, but at the same time he wasn't. Hugo knew it was just a game, but he did have a huge competitive streak in him and Quidditch brought it out in him. Then he laughed, "Well maybe not all the time ... but I'm definitely not going to give up on my jokes just because they gave me a bit of authority. You should know me better than that!" He was sure Sav did, but Hugo was determined to stay true to himself while he tried to fulfill his responsibilities.

When Hugo explained the reasons why he didn’t think he’d be named Head Boy, Sav shrugged. “Yeah, but it’s in your family, right? It’s basically your destiny as a Weasley.” he teased a little, only partly joking. He was happy for his friend, but he couldn’t hide that a small part of him saw it coming just because of who his friend was regardless of the trouble the two of them found themselves in. Sav knew that he didn’t really have any authority over anything other than his team, and even then he didn’t plan on being a crazy dictator. He knew that practice was going to be what would push them over the edge, but overall, he believed in the talent of his team. “It’s kind of weird being at the top now, isn’t it?” Sav offered offhandedly. They were the older students now, they were the big fish.

Hugo wrinkled his nose at his best friend. Sure, Sav might have a point with that comment, but that didn't mean Hugo had to agree with it out loud. "If they just gave me the position because of my family, they're gonna be in shock when I still mess around," he smirked, then paused for a moment as he thought, "Not that I would hurt anyone or put anyone in danger, but it's not going to turn me into the perfect student." Then Sav mentioned it being weird that they were at the top now and Hugo found himself nodding in agreement. "Yeah, it's definitely weird. Not quite sure how I feel about it." Hugo never would have admitted that to anyone else, but this was his best friend. Sav would understand where he was coming from, if not understand the exact feelings. "Do you feel ready to graduate?" he added curiously.
