Poe was not having the best month of his life, that much was for certain. At the end of July, Harry Potter's wand had been found and he had been presumed dead, which did not bode well for the stability of the wizarding world as a whole, and even less so for the Order of the Phoenix, which Harry had led. After the Order had fractured, Poe had tried to amass a group of like-minded people who could help stitch it back together. It seemed to have worked, somewhat, but he wasn't really sure where to start with the reconciliation process. All that he knew was that he wanted to unite everyone under the same mantle, even if that mantle wasn't the Order of the Phoenix any more. He thought that he'd have more luck with Finn than Victoire; he worried about the former Minister and how easily she was willing to jump to violence as a first resort, rather than a last one. He had sent Finn an owl asking her to meet him in the ice cream parlor in Diagon Alley, only realizing after the owl was already in flight that it was probably an inappropriately light-hearted place to be discussing something with such gravity. Poe had decided to tuck himself in the back corner of the shop, as far from the windows and prying eyes as he could get. He still wasn't sure how much information everyone else had, and he would rather not unintentionally put himself or Finn in danger over a meeting that was just to get a sense of where she stood in all of this mess.

@poet Finn hated all of this. Leading people was supposed to give her a sense of pride, an honor that not all were privy to. This organization of hers, those that had decided to nominate her thoughts and ideas as something to follow for the foreseeable future, was not what she had in mind when speaking up during the final moments of the Order of the Phoenix. She knew her confidence and strong-willed nature could move the group forward in great strides, but she was also having trouble coming to terms with the fact that there was not a better solution to all of this. Splintering the Order into three separate entities, each with their own values and identities, was ridiculous, and she was part of the problem. Speaking up during the meeting was supposed to be a way to come to an agreement, not lead it all in the exact opposite direction. Yet here they were, all trying to do their own thing with fellow members blindly following the ‘leader’ they found to be the best choice.
The owl that arrived should have been a surprise to Finn, but she knew the inevitable was going to happen eventually. If Poe hadn’t sent it first, she was going to be the one to contact him. The location was the ice cream shop in Diagon. Easy enough. Trying to gather her thoughts along the way proved to be more difficult than she had anticipated. Everything tended to be negative, which was typical these days, and Finn worried that it may come across like she didn’t know what she was doing, which she kind of didn’t. The extent of her leadership roles consisted of running stings in New York on illegal smuggling rings, and that was basically it. Her upwards progression through the Auror department had come to a halt when she quit and ran over to England, leaving a brand new promotion behind. Just because being a leader came natural to her didn’t mean that she felt ready to be responsible for other people’s well-being, especially in instances like law enforcement and whatever the Order had become. Especially with everything so fragmented and on the verge of breaking permanently.
Entering the ice cream shop, Finn scanned the seating area, unsure of where Poe was going to be sitting. She hadn’t seen him at any of the tables outside, so it was a safe bet he was somewhere inside. Trying to look like a normal customer, Finn approached the cash register and ordered a milkshake – chocolate with whipped cream on top and without a cherry. She needed sugar right now, which would hopefully combat whatever headache that was going to accompany the discussion she was about to have. While patiently waiting for her order to arrive, Finn continued to idly look around the shop, her eyes eventually passing over Poe, who was seated all the way in the back. Swiftly grabbing her drink, she made her way over to the table, sitting across from her counterpart. Before uttering a word, Finn scooped all of the whipped cream out, eating it hurriedly. She hated when it melted into a gloopy mess, so it was better to get it out of the way now. Gently laying her spoon down on a napkin once the whipped cream was gone, Finn looked up at Poe. “So what happens now?”
