first week of september It had been a few months since Peyton had been shown the secret spot by none other than Hugo Weasley. She still remembered the day as easily as if it had happened days before, and quickly made her way to the library hallway. She was good at back-tracking but needed to be in the familiar location to retract her footsteps. And slowly but surely, she began her trek from the usual bustling of the library, towards the landings of the tower in which he had taken her. It wasn’t long before the familiar location came into view, sitting all alone in the empty sunlight. Before long, Peyton threw herself down into the spot, crossing her legs in what looked like a pretzel, and began to work on some homework, or rather, homework that would surely come to pass.

The school seemed busy today, which was something Hugo should have inspected due to the influx of students attending the school, but he hadn't. The annoying thing was that they were in the first week of school and already had loads of homework. He went to the library, but it was packed. In a somewhat annoyed attitude, which was uncommon for Hugo, he found some books that he needed and left the overcrowded place. Great. Now he needed to find somewhere he could study in privacy. He thought a moment and then smiled when he remembered helping a Hufflepuff girl last year ... Peyton, he thought her name was. Yeah. He helped her find a spot to study in that was relatively out of the way and decided he might as well use it as well. Hugo made his way there, finding himself much more relaxed now that he knew somewhere he could go. When he arrived, a grin covered his face. "Fancy meeting you here," he teased as he approached Peyton. He wouldn't be studying alone, but he was sure they'd get to studying after they caught up. It was a good spot, after all. He moved closer and sat down a short distance away from her. "How are you?"

Lost in thought, pen in mouth and hair back in a messy bun, she was not prepared for the person that appeared in her little hiding spot. The moment he spoke, teasing at first, had her jumping and looking up. A small blush appeared on her face as she removed the pen from her mouth and fully addressed the newcomer, “Hugo—hey!” she said in a cheerful voice. She was attempting to cover up the embarrassment and slight shock that was still running through her system. She should be more prepared for people sneaking up on her, but then again, that might be why she was in Hufflepuff and not Gryffindor, her bravery was not up to par these days. “I’m great, how are you? How was your summer?”

Peyton was jumping and laughing, but she seemed happy that he found her there, which he was glad about. He didn't want to bother her, even though he didn't come here because he thought he'd run into someone. "Hi," he greeted back, trying not to laugh. He could tell she was a bit embarrassed and he really didn't want to make her feel more self-conscious. She seemed to compose herself soon enough though and he smiled. "I'm doing pretty well. My summer was good. A nice rest from everything." He laughed, "And now I'm Head Boy." He grimaced a little, "Not that that was how I was planning on spending my school year." It wouldn't be so bad, except Hugo wasn't entirely sure how well he'd do at helping to make sure everyone was doing well.

She let out a small laugh before a huge grin appeared on her lips, “Head Boy, that’s amazing Hugo. Congrats—” she started before realizing that he looked a bit odd of sorts. As if he didn’t want the title at all, which was quickly remedied by his next phrase, “Ah—so you weren’t hoping to be the head boy then? It can’t be all that bad, can it?” she questioned with a frown on her face. She was a Prefect, but she wouldn’t mind being Head Girl one day. It was an excellent title to have, though, it did come with a lot of responsibilities.

Peyton was laughing and grinning at him, congratulating him and Hugo laughed. That type of reaction wasn't entirely new. All his friends were super surprised when he'd been named Head Boy, since he liked to mess around so much, but people that didn't know him thought it was a major accomplishment. Well, it was an accomplishment, but not one that Hugo worked towards or expected. "Thanks," he said, surprised when she continued, asking if he didn't want to be Head Boy. He sat down next to her before explaining. "It's not so much that I didn't want to be Head Boy or that it's bad ... I'm just not the typical Head Boy. I like to mess around, have adventures, pull pranks on people. So expecting me to make sure other people don't get too out of hand ... it's not what I ever saw myself doing my last year, y'know?" He chuckled, "Also, I'll probably still do some of that stuff, which doesn't really make me a good example." Hugo shrugged, not really sure how else to explain his feelings. It was an honor, but he didn't want it to keep him from enjoying his last year at Hogwarts.

Peyton listened to him, someone that she’d like to think of as a friend, talk about how he wasn’t the typical person placed in the position. He talked about how he wasn’t the type to keep people in line when he wasn’t someone that walked the line and didn’t believe that he would set a google example. She shrugged her shoulders, “There has to be something about you that resulted in them picking you. They don’t just randomly draw out of the sorting hat…perhaps it was because someone in your family was head boy or head girl?” she concluded softly. It was a possibility; maybe they saw something in him that he didn’t, or maybe they believed that he would follow in the footsteps of someone before. “I think you’ll do a marvelous job as head boy,” she said truthfully with a smile on her face.

Hugo was pulled from his own introspection when Peyton started talking, defending him. He smiled as she said that there had to be some reason why he was chosen as Head Boy. Hugo shrugged his shoulders, "I dunno ... to be totally honest I don't pay attention to things like that. I mean ... I know two of my uncles were head boy and my mum's the Minister of Magic, but if that's why they made me Head Boy, I want to resign." He didn't want to go places in life because of who his family was. Whatever Hugo achieved, he wanted to do it because of his own successes. He refused to let being a Weasley be his ticket to success. That was stupid. He was so stuck in his own head that he jumped a little when she spoke again. He nodded, "Thanks Peyton. So I told you about my summer. How was yours?" Hugo didn't want to just talk about himself the whole time. He wanted to get her talking. Conversations were much more fun when they weren't entirely one-sided.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] Peyton frowned, shaking her head, “I doubt it’s that—I’m sure there is something about you that made you Head Boy. Maybe you’re personality? Your charismatic, nice and helpful…that’s surely has to add to the pot that they had brewing when they picked you.” she shrugged her shoulders, she didn’t know why they picked him, but it had to be something. She was picked as a Prefect, and she doesn’t know why either. But like everyone else that was picked for a position, either as head girl or boy or a prefect of their house, it meant something to someone to give them those positions. I mean, come on, there were some people in the place of power within the prefects that she would have never guessed would have made it. She smiled brightly at him, “You are very welcome!” she said happily before shrugging her shoulders, “It was great. My family spent most of it together on vacation. We came back just in time for that matchmaking thing, which was pretty fun to participate. All in all, can’t complain about my summer.”

Hugo nodded when Peyton said she didn't think they'd make him Head Boy because of the people that were in his family and Hugo shrugged. In all honesty, he didn't see any other reason why they would have made him Head Boy. Weren't there plenty of other seventh years that were plenty responsible? Hugo always liked to mess around and pull pranks, like his Uncles. How did that amount to Head Boy material? "Yeah, I'm sure they had some reason ... maybe those were it," he added with a short laugh. He supposed they could have chosen him because he was charismatic. Hugo did like to reach out to people, which was probably an important thing this year since there were so many transfers here.
He smiled when she described her summer, "Sounds like you had a lot of fun. And now you get to come here and work hard," he laughed. "Are you up here because you already have lots of homework?" Hugo asked curiously, leaning forward to try and catch a glimpse of what she was working on.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] Peyton laughed, “Isn’t that the mystery of Hogwarts? Perhaps we will never know their rhyme or reason for doing such a thing, but there is always a good one,” she said truthfully with a shrug of her shoulders. So much about Hogwarts was a mystery, and there was always something hidden behind everything, but it was always something that made it perfect. She nodded her head, “Oh it was. It may not seem like I had a fun time since I came back paler than when I left,” she started before shrugging her shoulders and adding, “But it was amazing to spend time with my family on the beach.” She laughed, “Actually—not a lot, but I like to get a head start on things before they are even due…and to be honest, this spot is better than going to the library,” she said with a smile on her face. After learning of this spot last year from Hugo himself, she had favored it over the library. It was, funny enough, quieter than the actual library itself.

Hugo laughed with Peyton as she explained her reasoning. "Yeah, I guess you're right about that. I'm just going to have to do my best to live up to whatever they expect of me. I don't know why they put me in this position, but I'll try to help people as much as I can." He wasn't going to let his position stop him from having fun during his last year though. Then again, working with Addi was almost proof that it was going to be fun to be Head Boy this year. She had some great idea and was so cheerful and outgoing, he couldn't imagine things going poorly. He'd just have to make sure he pulled his weight. He laughed when she joked about being more pale now than she was before her trip, but she obviously had a good time. "I'm glad you had a good break," he told her, really meaning it. "The beach sounds fun." He was happy that she enjoyed it. Hugo nodded when she said this spot was better than the library. "Oh I know it! Why do you think I helped you find this place?" he teased. If she remembered right, he didn't really know it existed before he showed it to her. They found this spot together, but he actually liked coming here to study when he could.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] Peyton simply nodded her head in agreement with Hugo’s conclusion about doing the best he can to help people with his position. It was the best thing one could do, plus, with him being a seventh year he only had to deal with it for one year, and thus, there wasn’t much that could be fucked up. Though Peyton didn’t think he could potentially fuck up, she saw him being the best Head Boy that this school could have in this year. She saw him doing great things and doubted he could do anything wrong when it came to helping people. Peyton laughed at his teasing, shaking his head, “If I remember correctly – we helped each other find this spot,” she said with a smile on her face. “But it’s soooo much better than the library,” she concluded, and it was the truth. Picking between here and the library, she would pick the former, and that was mostly what she did now. She never even walked towards the library anymore, “I avoid the library now unless I, of course, need a book—but I simply come here without even checking,”

Hugo cocked his head to the side when Peyton corrected him. "Isn't it the same thing? Me helping you and you helping me?" Hugo laughed, fine either way. He really didn't care, but he also couldn't help taking the chance to tease someone. It was just his way. "Yeah, the library gets too crowded, and even though it's supposed to be quiet, it isn't always." Besides that, you could frequently find people snogging in the corners in the library, which for Hugo made it hard to focus on his studies. He nodded when she said she normally came here unless she needed a book. "I get that. I might join you with that perspective soon," he admitted. It was way more peaceful up here. "So how's the year going for you so far?" They'd only talked about the summer, right? Hugo couldn't quite remember.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WE'RE BRIGHTER THAN FIREFLIES LIGHTING THE SKY [attr="class","next"] She frowned for a second, thinking about his words for a moment and when he laughed, she laughed, “True—very true,” she breathed out with her embarrassed chuckle. She guesses it is the same thing, but it took him pointing it out for her to realize that she had stupidly said the same thing just in a different phrasing. She nodded her head when he stated a fact about the library, a smile on her lips, “It’s never quiet for when I go in, even if it isn’t crowded…I’m surprised the librarian doesn’t put a stop to all the loud nonsense,” she said with a humph noise. It annoyed her, while she didn’t mind some talking she didn’t want it to sound like the common room or classrooms before the professor walked in. It should be quiet as if people were going to sleep. She smiled when he admitted that he might join her with her perspective of the library, before asking how her year was going so far. She smiled, “Well—seeing as it’s only the first week of the term, quite well. Find me here again in a few months, before Christmas, and I might be losing my mind,” she said with a soft giggle, “Yours?” she added, turning his question on him.
