It was a typical day for Ginny Potter, though everything was changing. During the summer, the witch had hoped and prayed that they would find Harry. Instead, all that was recovered was a broken wand – his broken wand. Things were changing, the order had separated into different parts, and not only that but her children had left the house. James and Albus had moved on with their lives; Lily was back at school, that left only Ginny to throw herself into her work and forget about everything. But that didn’t mean there weren’t whispers, especially with Rita Skeeter coming out of hiding or whatever and writing that horrible article about Ginny. Not only had Ginny lost her memories and now possibly her husband, but now she had to deal with that shit. Ginny moved with a passion through her work, but soon lunch time came around. She needed food; she couldn’t deny herself that. Walking through the crowd of people, she made her way to where the entrance was to the building, but not before running into someone. She looked younger, newer, probably an intern at this point. “Oh my, I’m sorry…” she breathed out as she held a hand out to steady the girl.

Being an intern at the Daily Prophet was hard work. It wasn't very gratifying and it meant that Jess had to spend more of her time running errands than actually writing, which was more annoying than she wanted to admit to anyone. The thing was, her time as an intern was almost over! She was actually waiting for the day when the chief editor called her into his office to tell her she got a job as a real reporter and was so excited for that day. She just had to hang on a while longer. At least it was time for lunch now. Jess started walking towards the entrance, looking forward to a short break, when she and someone else collided. The woman took her arm to steady her and Jess shook her head for a second before looking up at her. Then her mouth fell open. This was Ginny Potter. She was famous, for her Quidditch skills and for marrying Harry Potter and Jess just ran into her. "N-no, it's no p-problem at all," she stammered, feeling embarrassed. "I wasn't watching where I was going. Please," she gestured for the other woman to walk out the door first, trying to be polite. Ginevra Molly Potter

More damage could have been done if Ginny hadn’t grasped the girl’s arm and steadied her, though Ginny could have been the one that went tumbling down knowing her luck. If she were wearing heels, something she despised, that would have been the case, but she was glad to have opted for fancy flats instead to be worn to work. She may be female, but she enjoyed having feet and toes without blisters, thank you very much. The girl instantly looked at her, and the moment their eyes met, the girl’s mouth dropped open. She could read it in her eyes that she recognized her, either from being married to Harry Potter or maybe from when she played for the Holyhead Harpies, she wasn’t sure. It was probably the former though, that was what she was mostly remembered for these days, especially with Harry’s disappearance and possible death. She swallowed that though and plastered on a smile as the girl stammered through her words. Ginny smiled as the girl told her it was more her fault then Ginny’s, even giving her the first go to head out the door. “Don’t go blaming yourself, my mind was in the cloud these past few weeks. The fault isn’t fully on you,” she said with a smile, as she looked at the girl. “How about this…you were heading out for lunch, were you not? How about you join me, my treat, of course, to make up for the horrible events and possible embarrassment we both could have experienced,” she said with a smile on her face. “What’s your name dear?” she questioned, realizing now that she hadn’t properly been introduced to the younger woman, “From the look on your face moments ago, it seems like you already know who I am,”

Jess found herself relaxing slightly as Ginny Potter said that it wasn't entirely her fault that they collided with one another. That was a relief. She nodded, "I should have paid better attention too," Jess admitted, not wanting the other woman to think she thought herself completely without fault. She found herself smiling when Ginny invited her to go out to lunch with her as well. "I would love that!" Jess chuckled at the joke. Eating with Ginny Potter was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and she felt honored at the chance. "Oh, sorry. I'm Jess Dupont," she answered quickly. Of course Ginny wouldn't know who she was. She shrugged, "You're Ginny Potter. I looked up to you a lot when I was on a Quidditch team at school," Jess admitted easily. "and even more when I saw you writing for the Daily Prophet." Jess liked to keep up with current events and read many articles in the paper. She tended to like Ginny's quite a bit. Jess hoped she wasn't coming off as creepy. That was not the way to impress a role model. Ginevra Molly Potter

Ginny smiled, “It is nice to officially meet you Miss Dupont,” she said quickly before Jess began speaking about her reason for knowing who she was. She smiled, learning that the younger woman was on a Quidditch team, most likely with Hogwarts, and had looked up to her made a brighter smile appear on the red-headed witches face. “Ah Quidditch…at Hogwarts I presume? You don’t mind me asking which house and position, do you?” she questioned with a smile on her face as the two began to walk. She learned that she even looked up to her more when she learned that she worked for the prophet, which resulted in a small laugh. She was thankful not to hear that she only knew Ginny from the stories in the papers, both good and bad since she married Harry and his now missing status.

Jess smiled when Ginny said it was nice to meet her. She was so polite and Jess was excited. She tried to contain that a bit, but it was hard. Ginny was one of her heroes, after all. Ginny's smile widened as the conversation progressed a little and Jess was glad that she hadn't upset her or anything. She really looked up to the woman so much. She nodded at her questions. "I was in Hufflepuff, and played as a chaser." It wasn't a big deal, and she hadn't wanted to play professionally, but she enjoyed her time on the team at Hogwarts. She hesitated for a second, "Where would you like to eat? I'm really good with anywhere ..." They might as well get out there, so they wouldn't spend their lunch hour standing here talking. They might as well talk while they ate, right? Ginevra Molly Potter

The girl before her was a member of the house of badger and held the same position that Ginny held during both of her time at Hogwarts and with the Holyhead Harpies. She smiled wider, “Ah, a fellow chaser. That was my favorite position while at Hogwarts, even though I took my husband’s place as a Seeker for a few games while there.” she breathed out, a ping of sadness filling her at the mention of Harry that she had set up for herself. She instantly shook her head the smile fluttering back on, “How about you pick; I’m fine with anywhere as well. Plus, it’s my treat, and I rather buy you something you want than drag you somewhere you don’t,” she said with a small chuckle.

Jess nodded as Ginny started to smile. "Yeah, I like chaser a lot. I've tried the others out for fun, but chasing always seemed the most interesting to me. You get the most action." Sure, beaters and keepers did a lot, but the chasers actually held the Quaffle and shot it. That was a lot more fun, from her point of view. When the other woman suggested Jess choose where they eat lunch, Jess tapped her chin as she thought. "There's a cute little shop just down the street from the Leaky Cauldron in muggle London. Would you want to eat there?" She made sure to say it was in Muggle London because she knew some people cared about that. In all honesty, she didn't expect Ginny Potter to be like them. [googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BUT WE DON'T WANNA GROW UP [attr="class","next"] Ginny smiled brightly at the younger woman before her and nodded her head, “Exactly!” she said. While Ginny enjoyed the thrill of having the entire game on your shoulders as you raced for the Golden Snitch, it was something about holding the Quaffle and having people chase you and try to stop you from scoring, that was what Ginny enjoyed. “We seem to agree on it being the most interest,” she said with a smile. She was sure Harry, wherever he was, would likely disagree with her on that – but that was Harry, he enjoyed the thrill of the Snitch when he played. The smile was still on her lips as Jess offered the location of a muggle café that was just down from the Leaky Cauldron, and she nodded, “Lovely—sounds perfect,” she said.

It was strange, how easy it was to talk with one of her old heroes. Even knowing that Jess worked at the same place as Ginny Potter, she never imagined that she and the woman would be having a conversation like this. She definitely didn't expect Ginny to want to go to lunch with her either! It was ... ethereal, in a way. Something that she might have daydreamed of, meeting her heroes while interning at the Daily Prophet. Still, she was trying to not appear like too much of a fan girl. She didn't want to freak out her hero. She nodded, "Chasing is where the action is," Jess added firmly. "Great!"
Jess started to lead the way out of the Prophet headquarters. "So ... are you working on any important pieces for the paper?" Jess asked. She wasn't quite sure what Ginny would want to talk about while they walked, but she couldn't just walk in silence. That wasn't the way Jess worked. She was a talker, short and simple, which seemed to be useful when she was giving interviews, but not always as much so when in the real world. "And ... what made you want to go into writing in the first place, once you quit Quidditch?" she was full of questions, so Jess decided that only asking two was actually pretty impressive at the moment.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BUT WE DON'T WANNA GROW UP [attr="class","next"] Ginny was used to talking to people about the past, though she barely remembered much of it. Losing her memory, that had been hard of Ginny, especially since she only remembered the end of the Battle of Hogwarts and had to start over, though starting over while being married, having children, and battling a career hurt her. She had to drop everything and figure it out once more. Going back to the life that she once had, after figuring things out, took a toll on her. She still hoped to be able to get her memories back, but sometimes they were better left in the past – especially now with Harry being gone. Remembering everything that happened in their life together as man and wife, from what she already knew, would hurt too much. She already loved him like she did when she was still a schoolgirl, and already that was too much for the red-headed woman. This girl, she looked up to Ginny and yet – she wasn’t the same person that she probably saw on the field, she was the outer shell of her but not the internal person. She shrugged her shoulders, “Not really—just writing about the Quidditch games and such. Same thing, different day,” she said with a chuckle. The walk went silent for a few seconds, at least, until the young girl questioned her about what made her move to write after quitting Quidditch and she bit her bottom lip. From what she had heard, she did it for her family. “I’m going to be honest with you…I don’t remember. I—let’s say some bad people took my memories, and most of my life other people have been filling in the blanks. I used to love writing as much as Quidditch, and once I quit the sport in favor of starting a family, it just seemed like the best option. Plus, if I had to guess – my current job still lets me be in the Quidditch Pitch,” she said, chuckling rather awkwardly. “What about you, what made you pick up writing instead of following your path in Quidditch?”

Jess nodded as Ginny explained that was she was doing wasn't particularly exciting, just the same thing every day. She didn't seem to dislike that fact, which Jess took as a good thing. It was important for people to be able to enjoy what they were doing and she'd feel bad if it seemed like Ginny wasn't enjoying her job. "I get that. I'm trying to figure out which department I want to work in once I get promoted," Jess admitted softly. She was excited, but she also wasn't exactly sure what she wanted to do per se. Going into undercover could be fun, but she was nervous to put herself out there like that since she was a muggleborn and Elaine Dupree was targeting them. She did know she wanted to do something more exciting though. Jess wanted to be out there. Her eyes widened when Ginny started to tell her that she didn't remember why she decided to write. How did she not know about this? Then again, maybe it was because Ginny didn't want everyone knowing everything about her life, which was absolutely understandable. Still, she felt bad for bringing it up. "I'm sorry, I didn't know," Jess jumped in as soon as it sounded like Ginny was done. When the question was turned back on her, Jess relaxed slightly. "I've always liked writing. I mean, I love Quidditch, but it was never something I wanted to do after school. I've wanted to write since I was little." Not many people knew that, but it also wasn't a huge deal. No one asked before. Ginevra Molly Potter

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BUT WE DON'T WANNA GROW UP [attr="class","next"] Ginny chuckled, “Oh yes, figuring out where to continue when you get rid of your intern status is an interesting one. Do you have any favorite things to write about? Certain areas that you find easier than others? If anything, you could always find something that lets you write about Quidditch as I did,” she said with a smile, giving the young girl an idea for her future. Ginny had never looked towards the future with a plan, living each day to the fullest, she was someone that jumped in head first and dealt with the consequences later on. Ginny brushed her hand and smiled, “Don’t apologize, barely anyone knows my personal afflictions except friends. Though—if Rita Skeeter starts writing about my memory loss, I’ll know who to hunt down,” she said jokingly with a small wink towards the young brunette. Ginny wasn’t bitter about her memory loss, and while she wanted them back – with Harry gone, she didn’t know if now would be the best time. Ginny nodded her head, “So Quidditch was more of a pastime for the school year? Interesting…did you write for the school paper?” she questioned with a raised eyebrow, curious about her younger friend.

All the older woman's questions were good ones, and ones that Jess had thought of before. The problem was, she wasn't sure where exactly she would fit in at the Daily Prophet, even with her time as an intern. She didn't didn't think she'd found her spot. She shrugged a little before she answered, "I'm not really sure. I think investigative journalism could be really fun," she said after a moment, "but I also love Quidditch, so I wonder if maybe I'd fit in better there, but I really just don't know. I've been wondering if maybe I should just ask to be allowed to try out an article here and there until I make up my mind, you know? Do you think that would work?" Jess wanted to write. She knew that without a doubt. She just ... didn't know what she wanted to write. She nodded when Ginny told her not to apologize, smiling a little and then chuckling softly as she teased. "Don't worry, I doubt I'll tell anyone." Except for maybe Fin, but it really wasn't his business so she probably wouldn't even tell him. Not that he would even think to ask or anything. "Your secret is safe with me," Jess added firmly. She thought for a moment when Ginny asked a bit more about her playing Quidditch at school. Jess shook her head. "No, not really. It was ... in Quidditch I first really felt like I belonged in the magical world," her tone was more like a question than anything. "When I made the team, it was like I gained a family and confidence and such. I didn't want to do it professionally, but I loved every minute of it." Then she grimaced slightly. "I didn't write at the school paper. I was a bit too shy ... and nervous that they wouldn't want me there." It was a flimsy excuse, but she'd been a teenager. Her worries seemed much more valid back then than they did now. Ginevra Molly Potter

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BUT WE DON'T WANNA GROW UP [attr="class","next"] The girl revealed that she was unsure where she thought she would fit better, she enjoyed the idea of investigative journalism as well as Quidditch. Ginny listened to her intently, as she thought about asking if she could try out different articles here and there about both areas she thought about and Ginny smiled. “I’m sure they will let you. They’ll probably help you decide where you want to be depending on where they believe your strong suit is.” she mused to the girl. Ginny let out a little laugh, she was sure that she could trust this young woman with her secret, but at the same time – she barely knew her. But Ginny wasn’t quick to judge; she had to move past her old way of thought. She listened as the girl revealed that she felt like she belonged in Quidditch and had gained a family and confidence while playing, adding that she was too shy to write for the paper in fear. She smiled, “Quidditch does make one feel that way. Took me a while to join the team, but once I did, I enjoyed it very much. And I doubt that they wouldn’t have wanted you there once they saw your writing, but then again…I don’t know who controlled your paper at the time of your terms.”The two of them arrived at the entrance of the Leaky Cauldron from the alley side and quickly slipped inside. Ginny was enjoying her time with this young girl, but she knew eventually they’d have to return to work. Once they found a seat, they sat down, “Order anything you want,” she told the girl with a smile. The waiter came over, and Ginny ordered her meal with a glass of water.
