Prefects Car
Once the train was in motion, Hugo made his way to the front, searching for the Prefect Car. He wasn't exactly sure what being Head Boy would entail, but he wanted to get a handle on it as soon as he could. Also, he wanted to find out who he'd be working closely with during the next year. He was excited for the opportunity, but also a little nervous. He wasn't the best when it came to taking things seriously and he was a little worried that the girl he'd be working with would get irritated by his antics. Granted, Hugo was planning on only goofing off or whatever when he didn't have responsibilities or when he was with his friends, but he knew that he could get on some people's nerves.
When he arrived at the right car, he stepped in and sighed, relieved that he was the only one there. He knew others would probably be making their way here soon, if they weren't already, but at least he could have a few minutes to relax now. He sat down and took a deep breath, closing his eyes for just a moment. A smile started to form on his mouth. He was headed to Hogwarts again.

Addiyn was in such a hurry to get to the prefects car she didn't even tell Edmund that she wouldn't be able to sit with him. Her brain was going a million miles a minute, and she was eager to get started with being Head Girl. She had barely even stepped onto the train when she pinned the Head Girl badge onto her sweater, and then found the car. She slid the door open and saw Hugo Weasley sitting there, and a large smile spread across her face. "Hugo! Are you the mysterious Head Boy I've been waiting for?" she asked, her steps light and happy and she moved inside, placing her bag up above the seat. She hoped all the other prefects would be on time for their meeting, but they had some time. Hugo and her had the car all to themselves for a bit until everyone was expected to arrive. @hugo

Hugo's eyes opened the second he heard someone sliding the door open. The girl was grinning at him and Hugo grinned right back. He had no idea who he'd be spending the year working with, but Addilyn Slater was someone that he felt he'd at least be able to get along with. That was definitely a good thing. "I sure am, though I would argue that I've been the one waiting for you," he teased, winking at her easily. Addi was pretty easygoing though this should all be great. "So you ready for all this responsibility?" Hugo himself was a little nervous about it, since he much preferred to mess around, but he wasn't going to admit that. At least, not right now. He preferred to deal with his insecurities before revealing them ... not that he admitted to many.

He argued that he had been waiting for, her, which was technically true, and she laughed, stepping in and shutting the door behind her. She took a seat across from him. "I'm glad it's you, Hugo. I was worried... not that I don't trust our Professors judgment but... I can be a bit picky about those I work with," she chuckled, lower this time. At his question, she straightened up, but then relaxed back into the seat. "I'd like to think that I am. The main struggle will be maintaining a good example. I have been known to... cultivate my curiosity by wandering from time to time," she admitted. "I may need you to keep me in line, sir," she explained, raising an eyebrow at him in preparation for his response. @hugo

Addi didn’t waste any time joining him in the compartment and Hugo chuckled as she spoke. “I can understand that. I was a little … interested to see who they chose to be Head Girl with me.” He gave her a smile as he continued, “I’m glad they chose you.” Addi was someone he could work with, a good worker, but not always entirely serious. At least, he hoped she wasn’t always serious because despite the fact that he was now Head Boy, Hugo intended to have some mischievous fun during his last year at school.
He laughed outright when she said the trouble would be maintaining a good example. “You can say that again! A part of me wonders if they only made me the Head Boy so I’d pull less pranks this year … I’m just going to have to be a bit more sneaky, I think.” He looked over at her and winked. “I’ll keep you in line as long as you keep me from going overboard, because I can tell you right now that I’m not going to follow the rules perfectly.” Was that a bad quality for a Head Boy? Hugo wasn’t sure, but he was chosen. The professors knew his personality very well, so they shouldn’t be surprised by his actions.

Hugo said he was also interested to see who they chose to be Head Girl, but she was sure that 'interested' had more meaning behind it. Like 'nervous' or 'hopeful'. Just like she had been. When he said he was glad it was her, she grinned, "thank you so much. Really," her voice was softer for a moment. Her confidence was there, strong and sure, but it was still a bashful thing to accept a compliment, even if you agreed wholly with said compliment. He laughed loudly and she grinned back. He understood how she felt about the 'Good Example' thing. "Or maybe they want you to get more students involved, for comradery's sake," she laughed. "We'll keep each other in line enough and out of line enough to still be intersting. Deal?" she reached across to hold a hand out to him for a shake. @hugo

Hugo grinned back at Addi when she thanked him. It would be fun working with her during the last year, and at least she wasn't super pushy. She probably wouldn't be telling him what to do all the time, which was definitely a good thing. He didn't want to have to deal with someone bossing him around all the time.
He wrinkled his nose and made a face when she told him they might have been trying to get him to help other students be involved. "I guess ..." Hugo wasn't entirely sure how much he liked that idea, but he wasn't going to talk about it right now. He was good at doing things with people ... this should be able to work out right? He laughed when she said they could keep one another in and out of line. "Good plan. I can do that," he agreed easily. Then he sighed and stretched a little. "Okay, soooooo what exactly do we need to start off with? The prefects should be coming up here soon. What do we want to tell them?" Hugo decided he might as well let her start off.

Hugo made a face and Addilyn chuckled. "Hey, we have a lot of work to do with unity and whatnot, with the Americans and all," she explained. They would truly have a full plate to manage when they got to the school. Not only would they be trying to help first years get comfortable, but an entire student body from another school, another country, another culture. Things would be... difficult, she felt, but hopefully the two of them - with their team - could handle anything. Addilyn nodded as he agreed to keep each other in line, and then paused to think when he asked where they wanted to start with the prefects when they arrived. "Well, I think we need to start with the Ilvermorny students, to be honest. I think that's the biggest thing we'll be dealing with. No other Head Boy and Girl has dealt with it before. I mean, they've dealt with tri-wizard tournament arrivals but that's not an entire school," she explained. @hugo

Hugo’s relief at being paired with Addilyn Slater increased as she laughed. She had a good sense of humor, which meant that whatever they ended up doing together this year would at least be fun in one way or another. He’d find a way to enjoy it. He nodded, “Yes, unity with the Americans is going to be very important …” Hugo wasn’t very good at these types of things. He could come up with ways to have fun with small groups of people, but leading a school? Yet again, he wondered why they made him Head Boy this year. He thought a moment. “Maybe we could suggest giving leadership positions to some of the Ilvermorny students after the first semester? Perhaps see if we could make some of them prefects, help them feel like they belong somewhere? I’m not sure … I’m trying to think of ways to help them know we want them here. Do you have any other ideas?” He’d have to think more about this than he originally thought. Addilyn and Hugo couldn’t just do what others did when they lead the school because their situations were entirely different. It would probably take a while before they really felt like they were doing their jobs right because of that.

Hugo agreed that Unity was important, and then went on to suggest leadership roles for the American students. Addilyn tapped her nose with her pointer finger twice and then pointed it at him, "that's a great idea. They could be ambassadors for their school, I'm sure the professors would be happy to implement that. Oh, I also was told that they will be implementing a buddy program. It'll be matching up American students with Hogwarts students in their same house who will show them around and whatnot," she explained. "I also think we should consider celebrating American Thanksgiving in November. We could help put together an American Committee to be in charge of that, and with the school and the house elves approval they could share American recipes and celebrate as if they were home." Addilyn had many ideas to share. @hugo

Hugo smiled when Addilyn seemed to like his idea. Good! At least he could contribute somewhat. Ever since he got the owl telling him that he'd be Head Boy this year, he'd worried that he wouldn't be any good at it. He wasn't a planner, Hugo was a mischief-maker. This sort of thing wasn't really something he was comfortable with, but at least Addilyn thought his ideas were good. He nodded as she spoke about the buddy system. "Oh, that sounds like a really good idea."
All of Addilyn's ideas were good. American Thanksgiving, with an American Committee in charge of it. "That sounds like fun. I'm sure everyone would love doing that ... especially since we're not having a break that week. Wait ... we're not having a break, are we?" Hugo paused a moment and then a thought occurred to him and he chuckled. "My mum and I were talking this morning, something about having a huge getting-to-know-you Waffle Bar. Think anyone would be interested in that?" He couldn't help but chuckle more as he remembered teasing his mom that no one would want her, and her assertions that there were definitely some who would be interested.

Addi pursed her lips and then shook her head, "no, I don't think we're having a break. Most of the American kids parents went home for the year anyway, as far as I know, so they'd stay at school anyway. I'm not sure if they even have a break at Ilvermorny for Thanksgiving... I'm sure they just do Christmas like we do. Maybe they get that Thursday off?" she shrugged. At the mention of a Waffle-Bar Addi grinned, "nothing quite like food to bring people together, right? Waffle bar, thanksgiving... it'll be hard to be Christmas last year, with the Yule Ball and all. Are you going home for the Holiday?" she asked, though it was pretty early to be asking. @hugo

Hugo nodded when Addilyn confirmed that she didn't think they'd be having a break that week. He didn't think so either. Hogwarts would probably continue on in the way it normally did, which meant that doing something to celebrate Thanksgiving for the American students would probably be a good idea. It would help them feel more at home, wouldn't it? "Yeah, that sounds about right to me. Besides, Christmas is just a few weeks later so I don't think they really need to go home that week, though I don't know what the staff is going to do about it. Hmmmm," his eyes narrowed a moment, "Maybe if we get Thursday off we could do a celebration with the school? Like, have some of them help us set something out and then we could all celebrate it together?" It sounded like a good thing to Sav, but he wasn't sure what the staff would say. They should be okay with it, he figured, because it would make the other students feel more at home.
He smirked when she agreed that food was a good thing to bring people together. "Hey, I'm a guy. You have food and I'll almost always be there," he answered with a laugh. Then he shook his head, "No I don't think so. I want to make sure everything here goes smoothly, you know. And Mum supports me being here since I have all this responsibility this year." Hugo laughed again. He could do almost anything and give the excuse of needing to do it because he was Head Boy and his mom would be alright with it. Most anything.

Addi nodded as he mentioned Christmas was just a few weeks after Thanksgiving, saying he wasn't sure what the students going home plans were with their parents being in America and all. "Yeah, that's a great idea," she flicked her wand and a quill and parchment floated out of her bag into her lap, and she started making a note. "We need to ask the Professors if we can get that Thursday off to plan this. I'm sure they'd let us because of wanting to make the Americans feel at home and all," she suggested, writing. "Do you want to check with Madame MacMillan? And I'll ask Professor Zabini," she asked, speaking of their heads of house. He said if there was food he would always be there and she laughed too. He said he wasn't planning on going home for the Holiday due to his duties and all and she nodded, "I'll be staying too. We've got to keep those trouble makers out of trouble," she chuckled. @hugo

Hugo nodded as Addi started taking notes about their ideas. "Yeah, that sounds like a good thing to me. I'm sure they'd be all right with it, since they do want us to work on school unity, especially with the new students." He paused before agreeing to her suggestion. "Yeah, I can talk to her about it. I'm sure she'll like that idea." Madame MacMillan always seemed up for anything, from his point of view. Also, with him being such close friend with Sav, he knew her pretty well.
She said she was staying to keep trouble makers out of trouble and Hugo shrugged, "Or just make sure they get into the right kind of trouble," he teased. He knew he'd get into some mischief though. Hugo could never help that around the holidays. He'd just try and make sure that others wouldn't cause too much mayhem and have his little bit of fun while he could.
"So do you feel ready to talk to the Prefects now, whenever they get here?" Hugo asked curiously. He wasn't sure if there was something else they needed to talk about or not.
