Liam wandered to Diagon Alley, surprised by the amount of people around him. Normally he didn't have time to come to Diagon Alley before he went to work, but this morning he got up a bit earlier than normal. It was different, but he was actually enjoying his visit. He didn't normally come here unless he actually had a purpose, so he was glad for the opportunity to wander around. The other nice thing about coming here so early was that the streets weren't so crowded. There were a lot of the early birds out, doing what they needed to, but any tourists or people meeting with their friends weren't there. It was nice and kind of ... quiet.
He wandered down the streets until he heard a clattering sound behind him. An elderly woman had dropped something and he pulled out his wand to help as he approached her. Liam wasn't normally one to go out of his way to help other people, but there weren't a lot of people here in the first place and he couldn't just leave here there. Someone else would definitely be wiling to help her, wouldn't they?

Diagon Alley was one place Dana always seemed to find herself in lately. After leaving Hogwarts and pursing her dream as an Astronomoer, the eldest Knox would always return to the peculiar street; seeking a new form of equipment she needed to analyse the stars and planets for her ongoing research. Ever since the blond graduated, she had been researching into the moons that surrounded Earth as well as the potential magic they held and how wizards could use and obtain it for greater use.
But with intense research came the required tools. While magic was one of them, she was handed multiple lists from fellow colleagues and bosses who ordered her around the magical realm and even the muggle realm, in seek for each piece. As dark heels clicked against the uneven floor of Diagon Alley in the early hours of the day, Dana’s lips twitched into a small smile; something just for herself as memories of being a young Hogwarts student wandering the area of Diagon Alley flooded her mind. She bit her lip softly, chuckling at the thoughts that reminded her of her slip-ups, bumping into the wrong crowds and her own experiments with the many wands she acquired.
Her mother would always remind her that the ’best wand would find its way to her’. Well. She wasn’t wrong.
The breezy air pushed against Dana’s hair, leaving light cold kisses upon her skin, while the sound of a clatter in front of her pulled the Knox girl out of her cloud of thoughts. Gasping quietly, Dana pulled out her wand, flicking it and muttering a quick spell to help the woman restore her stall back to what it was. She smiled widely as the woman continued to throw her thanks before she shook her head telling the woman ”It’s nothing. Glad to be of help.”
As she said her goodbyes to the woman, Dana’s head lifted from the ground, slightly turning but was interrupted from the body standing in front of her – rather closely at that measure. She jumped back slightly out of fear before laughing it off as her eyes focused – recognising the figure.
”Liam.” She breathed, clutching onto her chest; faking a heart attack. ”You frightened me.”

As Liam expected, someone else did help the woman. A younger woman who he'd never seen before. The only issue was, now he was close enough that turning around would make it look like he was trying to avoid her, which he wasn't. So he might as well continue on his way and hope the girl didn't try to talk to him. The problem was, the street was quite crowded, so he had to move a lot closer to her than he wanted to.
She jumped when she noticed him, but when she spoke Liam finally recognized her. "Dana," his mouth dropped a little. Then he laughed, "Sorry, I wasn't trying to. What are you doing here?" Of course, she could be wherever she wanted to be, but he hadn't planned on seeing her here today, or anyone he knew really. He scratched the back of his neck uncomfortably, "I was coming over to help that woman, but you beat me to it." he gave a bright smile, trying to hide how uncomfortable he felt. After all this time, he still didn't know how to behave around most people, even when he knew them.

Dana smiled softly at Liam’s uncomfortableness. Ever since meeting him back in Hogwarts she already knew the kind of person he was. Of course, asides from being Tamara’s boyfriend. She laughed softly at his comments of how she beat him to helping the woman, which only further reminded her of their days in Hogwarts. In the classes they did share together, Dana always strived to be number one. Her competitive side came out so to speak. But precision always came from Liam’s side.
Brushing a few of her blonde locks behind her ear, she began to speak. ”Just picking up a few research pieces for my bosses back at work.” she stated, smiling softly once more. It had been...at least…what…a year? Two? Since she had last seen Liam? Though nothing had truly changed. The Knox girl’s blue eyes scanned the man before her, glancing upon his usual casual attire and his tidiness overall.
Dana felt the need to ask on Tamara’s well-being as the Finch girl was the only reason the two of them shared any common interest. ”How about you?” she began, ”How come the infamous Liam Flint is in Diagon Alley?” | notes: hopefully this is okay! |

Dana was always a nice girl, from what Liam remembered. He didn't know her very well, which wasn't too big of a shocker since Liam didn't know many people well. In school he knew Ethan and his friend group ... mostly Dom and a few others. He hadn't spent too much time with anyone else because Liam got tongue-tied around people. He didn't know what to say to them and he tended to overthink any interactions he had with just about anyone. Dana was no different. Actually it was even worse with her growing up because of her friendship with Tamara. Liam had a hard time talking around them.
Now, he was over that. Mostly. At least he could try and talk to her now, like he was about to. "That's a good thing ... where are you working now?"Tamara probably told him sometime, but he couldn't remember. Also, it was normal to ask someone a question like that, wasn't it? He wasn't entirely sure, but he was trying his best to be sociable. His greatest weakness.
Liam shrugged, "I got up early and didn't know what to do with myself before work?" It shouldn't be a question, but it was. "I don't really know what I'm doing here right now," he chuckled a little, not knowing what to do. "Are they expecting you at work soon?"

Dana always knew Liam Flint wasn’t much of a talker. From the time she spent in Hogwarts and the time out of it, she could always tell that his quietness and awkwardness would get the best of him. Her blue eyes watched his posture and his following actions; scanning how he remained so stiff as if he was uncomfortable. Although, Dana knew not to take it to heart as Tamara always told the Knox girl he was like this.
As soft wind blew through Diagon Alley, the blonde pushed some of her blonde locks to the side, before her lips opened to answer his many questions. ”Not too far from here, in a research facility for astronomers. Kind of like a British Nasa.” she stated, a grin on her lips as she joked too. With a soft nod as a reply for ‘no’, Dana continued to keep a comfortable smile on her face. ”Nah…The items they’ve asked me to find are pretty impossible to find.” She admitted, holding up a small sheet of paper with equipment her bosses needed.
They wouldn’t know if she diverted for a small coffee though? With her lips opening once more, Dana suggested: ”Since we’re both early…Perhaps we could grab some coffee? Just catch up and things.”

Liam smiled when Dana answered him, talking about a British Nasa. It was true that he didn't know the girl super well, but he seemed to remember Tamara talking about how much Dana enjoyed looking at the stars, now that she mentioned it. It made him smile, the fact that she was doing what she wanted, working there. By her smile, she obviously enjoyed it. A good thing.
She held up a piece of paper, saying it would take a long time to find the items on it. Liam looked a little closer, curious as to the type of things they would want. He chuckled and shook his head slowly as his eyes skimmed the list. "Good luck with that," he teased softly, though at the same time he was kind of serious. It was not going to be easy for her to figure this out, but he was sure she'd be able to do it. She was the determined type, after all.
He found himself nodding almost immediately when Dana suggested a coffee. "I could use one of those before heading into the Ministry." He glanced around the street. "Is there a specific place you'd rather go. I've always thought this one was kind of nice," he gestured to a small shop across the street. Mostly Liam liked it because they made pretty good food and drinks and they were small. Not many people went there, though obviously enough that the place was still running. Liam just liked not being crowded in the shop with a bunch of people.

”The Ministry?” She questioned with interest in her tone. Dana recalled the moments in her life after discovering her magical background when her mother would express stories of the many wonderful things the magical realm had held. Pushing her rather important list into her pocket, the Knox girl stepped forward towards his gesture with a shrug, genuinely open to anything. ”Sure! I haven’t been around here for a while. Take me to wherever you wanna go.” Of course, Diagon Alley was one common place to be but with the intenseness of the blonde’s research, she found herself sleeping within her office multiple times and even residing in her muggle-home for nostalgia.
As she walked alongside him, the thought of the Flint boy working in the Ministry raised questions in the Knox girl’s mind. Did she already know about it? She honestly couldn’t remember. Biting down on her lip, her blue eyes glanced up to Liam, smiling softly at his quiet and awkward actions once more. While she knew Liam, she didn’t know him per-say, apart from the minor conversations with Tamara who loved to bring him up.
”I just crave coffee and a good Grilled Cheese.” She admitted, huffing ever so lightly before managing a laugh just briefly.

Liam gave a quick laugh when Dana asked about the ministry, obviously intrigued. "Yeah, I work in the Department of Mysteries, so I can't actually tell you what I do, but I do have to make my way to the ministry almost every day." Some people might see that as impressive, Liam thought it was more annoying than anything else. Sure, he loved his job, but he didn't like having to go through the busy ministry hallways and levels to get where he worked. Also, he ran into many more people there than he would have preferred.
He smiled and nodded when she said he could take her wherever. Well if she didn't care, he was going to take her to the little shop he liked. It wasn't far and it wasn't busy, which was one of the reasons why it was his favorite. He glanced over at her when she said what she wanted. "Well, I don't know if they have Grilled Cheese, but they definitely have coffee." And if they didn't have grilled cheese, they probably had something like it.
He walked in and up to the counter, asking for a coffee. He didn't really need anything else. Then he stepped to the side, allowing Dana to come forward as he scanned the room for an open booth. Ha. There were only two people in the place. They could sit wherever they wanted. As soon as she was done ordering, he walked over to a booth in the corner. The older woman would bring their orders once they were ready, no need to wait standing up. "Soooo what have you been up to, other than studying the stars? I haven't seen you in a while ..." They probably hadn't seen one another since he graduated two years before. Oops. Oh well, they could talk now, if she was in the mood.

As the two walked, Dana listened in – intrigued and impressed. Who would’ve thought? The shy and quiet boy from Hogwarts works for the Ministry? Although she most likely heard word of it from Tamara herself, Dana knew that it probably went in one ear and left the other. The time she had last saw Tamara was one of her busiest moments, the research in the astronomy department rocketing sky high – Ah. Good times.
”But Grilled Cheese is just legendary!” She complained in a whining tone – obviously joking. As Liam led Dana towards the little shop, her mouth dropped open slightly in awe of the décor and the comfortable-roomy feeling the place gave off. Following after him, her heels clicked against the floor slightly as she walked towards the counter, her blue eyes scanning the menu held high above the cashier while her teeth bit upon her bottle lip. Dana was stuck in a world full of choices and being the indecisive person, she was - she had no clue what to order. To prevent the two of them from standing there all day, the blonde ordered a latte, requesting to have a few pumps of caramel within it.
Thanking the cashier, Dana followed after Liam once more, sliding into one of the booths in the corner of the place. Again, her eyes caught sight of the designs within it, her blue eyes staring with awe. Such a feeling reminded her of home and even Hogwarts itself. Though as Liam spoke; it brought her out of her cloud of thoughts and awe. She shook her head lightly, taking in his question before responding. ”A while is an understatement.” She commented, laughing briefly. ”I travelled a couple of times. Went to Paris and even Seoul.” The blonde admitted.
Though it was true, aside from working all she truly did was spend her free days and even many nights by her brother’s side. With hope of him waking up soon, Dana didn’t want to miss anything. But to avoid darkening the subject, she avoided bringing it up. ”I just stare at the stars and planets all day and night. You know, Pluto is definitely a planet in my opinion.” Speaking of space and the beautiful things within it always boiled excitement within the Knox girl, if Liam didn’t stop her now she probably would continue until the end of time. | 397 words >> notes: sorry for the wait! |

Liam laughed softly as she complained about grilled cheese. "I'm not saying that they don't have it. Just ... just be aware that they might not," he warned, shaking his head a little as he lead her to the place. He was a little surprised at how quiet she was once they entered the shop, but he wasn't about to say anything about it. She was obviously looking over the menu for a while, which was something he felt everyone should be able to do without feeling rushed.
Soon enough they were sitting into the booth and she was staring around again. "Do you like it?" Liam couldn't help but ask. He couldn't tell just by looking at her expression if she was impressed or skeptical, but he wasn't quite good at reading people so that wasn't really saying much. He smiled as she spoke, talking about her travels. "Did you like that? What did you do in both places?" He didn't know much about traveling, but figured he could learn from Dana maybe.
She started talking about space and Liam nodded as he listened. He honestly wasn't good at conversing with people; in his opinion, it was much easier when they spoke and his job was to listen. The nice thing about Dana was she made that easy. "Oh yeah? Do people still argue about that?" He didn't know much about planets other than what he learned in Astronomy at Hogwarts, but he wouldn't mind listening to her talk about it.

The blonde couldn’t help but laugh at his questions. Dana knew the kind of person Liam was – more of a listener not so much a talker. It balanced out perfectly. Considering her large mouth and necessity to speak sometimes drove confident speakers into the ground. ”It’s cozy here.” she admitted before thanking the waiter for handing over their mugs. Dana lifted hers slightly taking a sip while her taste buds were introduced to the sweet bitterness of the latte mixed with caramel. Just right. ”Reminds me of home…And strangely Hogwarts.”
She began to fiddle with her fingers gently as the conversation between the two of them stirred on. The blonde mentioned of how she enjoyed her travels and craved to fly more, in Europe, out of Europe and even consider working abroad. Besides, working in space gave her that considerate advantage. ”Paris…I was looking for a friend. But I couldn’t find him.” she stated with a soft sigh, sipping upon her hot drink once more. As she explained her trip to Paris, Dana also began to mention her travels around Seoul. While her trip to Seoul was technically a vacation it was a work-cation. Paid entirely from her job in order to allow the Knox to research with other astronomers for a few weeks. There went her vacation.
”Absolutely.” She nodded, a laugh leaving her lips as she set her mug upon the table. Energy sparked within the blonde; mainly-and-thankfully from the coffee itself but from the excitement that space talk gave her in general. ”You see, where I work more than half of us believe Pluto should be reinstated as a planet. It has its own moons and even orbits around the sun…” she trailed off, noticing the confusion in the Flint’s face. ”If this is confusing you, you could have stopped me.” | 304 words >> notes: no prob! maybe he could ask who she was searchin for, aka lars |

Liam smiled when Dana started to explain that she liked the place, that it reminded her of home and Hogwarts. "I think so too. It's nice and cozy and just seems familiar." Maybe that was why it hadn't gone out of business like lots of little shops had a tendency to do. This place was just so small and enjoyable that he couldn't imagine it ever not being here. It was honestly his favorite place to go to when he was feeling hungry and not close to home. "I'm glad you like it," he added after a little bit.
Dana answered his question, saying that she went to Paris looking for someone and Liam's eyebrows furrowed. He wasn't generally super talkative, but he was a Ravenclaw by nature and could be quite curious when he was of a might to be. "Who were you looking for there?" He asked, before adding, "If you don't mind me asking." He didn't want Dana to feel like he was pressuring her, but he also couldn't help but ask the question.
As the conversation continued, with Dana leading it, she explained more about how other people in her field felt so strongly about Pluto and how it should still be a planet. Liam nodded slowly, remembering having heard something about it not being considered a planet anymore. "Do you think it will be reinstated? Who makes those kinds of decisions?" It was far easier for Liam to ask her questions than to think of things for him to talk about. It was nice to have someone who didn't mind talking. He shook his head slowly, "No, you don't need to stop. I just didn't realize that Pluto was such an important planet ... or not planet? I knew they changed it, but ..." he trailed off, shrugging. He didn't know much about the planets, but he found her conversation interesting.

The wide smile that once rested on Dana’s lips soon faded into a soft frown, brows furrowing at the thought of her “adventure” to Paris. Fingers curled around the handle of the coffee mug even tighter, her knuckles turning white as barrels of emotions overwhelmed the Knox girl. But with Liam’s comments of the topic at hand – of course Pluto – brought the blonde out of her head. She resided in there too often. Sighing, blue eyes looked up at Liam – surely he was expecting the answer; almost everyone except Lars Hutton himself knew Dana had a crush on him. No words could describe the pot of emotions the Hutton boy made her feel.
”Lars.” She said breathlessly, her eyes watering. Dana began to reminisce the exact day Lars left, or more so graduated, a letter held behind her back. She remembered Tamara and even Vik egging her on but fear got the best of her. So when word got out that the Hutton was in Paris for some time, Dana decided to take an unexpected trip to visit him. But it turned out rather…horrible.
Shaking her head, the blonde let out an awkward laugh. ”Pluto means nothing to a lot of people. But for me, he’s an important planet. And I definitely believe he should be reinstated.” As Dana paused to take another sip of her coffee, she cleared her throat before continuing on her point. ”Although, I believe the muggles are in charge of changing such things.” | 248 words >> notes: sorry for the wait! |

Liam could see almost immediately that asking who she was looking for in Paris was a bad idea. Dana almost looked like she was going to be sick and he felt bad for asking. He should have let her lead the conversation wherever she wanted. He almost wanted to retract the question, but before he could figure out an appropriate way to do so, she was looking up at him with wide, wet eyes and confessing that she went there for Lars. Of course she did.
"Dana, I'm- I'm sorry. You don't owe me anything," he told her, feeling worse now that he got his answer and she was obviously upset by it. "Do ... do you want to talk about it?" Liam asked hesitantly. He wasn't good at these things, but he also didn't like the idea of leaving his friend miserable if maybe talking about it would help. Then again, maybe she'd feel pressured to talk to him. "Not that you have to. I just ... I'm here for you if you do." He sighed and rubbed his jaw, frustrated at his inability to express what he meant to. "Merlin, I'm sorry. I'm here for you if you don't want to talk about it either." He explained, hoping she would understand what he was trying to say.
He smiled when she continued talking about Pluto, saying that he didn't mean a lot to lots of people, but he did to her. "Well then, I hope they reinstate Pluto, just for you." He considered making a joke about using magic to convince a muggle to reinstate it, but didn't want that to be taken the wrong way. Especially since there were Purebloods that would do something like that. Liam wasn't one of them, but it was better to not talk about such things.
