Retail Therapy. She didn't know the true origins of the phrase, probably some airheaded idiot wanting some spotlight, but she had to admit that the term was very fitting for what she was doing now. She needed it today especially. Work was becoming increasingly frustrating. Because of the fact that she was still just an intern in the Department of Mysteries she had very little freedom to research what she wanted to. There were things she needed to know, things that she'd thought about in passing while going from room to room that she wanted to put to the test and find more information for. She didn't have that ability though. All because she was still an intern. In name only. She couldn't wait for the internship to be over. She did like the fact, though, that because she was an intern she was able to view all of the rooms in the Department. Some more than others but still it was the exposure that got her brain flowing. She loved it. Frustration aside.
With the frustration came restless energy that she needed to expend somehow. And what better way for her to do that than to try and find nice professional and fashionable clothes for her to wear to said internship. She needed new things anyway; even though she had clothes she still hadn't worn they weren't appealing to her anymore. So she was spending the rest of her day going around London and shopping. She wasn't just buying whatever she saw; she was picky when it came to the clothes that she wore. She took her time as she went from store to store buying one or two items she liked. After a while, she felt herself calm and she dipped into an easy rhythm of saying yes and no to things that store workers were picking out for her. Leaving a jewelry store with a brand new necklace around her neck, she continued her walk down the block, looking back and forth to figure out where she wanted to go next.

Shopping for clothing had never really been Alice's "thing." However, ever since she had met the unique and outgoing Hufflepuff alum, Ophelia, Alice had found that it wasn't as bad as she always grew up thinking it was. So she was out and about today in London, just window shopping until she saw something that perhaps caught her eye. As she walked down the streets empty handed, she thought about maybe heading home soon since she had not yet seen anything she liked. That was when she walked in front of a small boutique, in which the windows were lined with jumpers and skirts laid out for the autumn weather. It just so happened that autumn was Alice's favorite month so she was quite captivated by the clothes in the window when she came fairly close to walking right into someone walking in the opposite direction she was. Luckily, she stopped just before the two of them collided but they were close enough to colliding that Alice certainly felt embarrassed. "I'm so sorry," she stuttered out, avoiding looking at the poor girl she almost ran into. "I wasn't watching where I was going."

Though she had calmed down since arriving on the shopping strip, the pace she walked at would still be considered swift by most. Her eyes roamed from store to store and though she was focused on the task at hand, she still managed to somewhat pay attention to those who stepped around her as she moved. Because of course they were moving out of her way, she was on a mission and she walked with purpose. No one wanted to bother that, for good reason. She spotted a small boutique just down the road in front of her that displayed cute dresses in its window and she quickened her pace to get inside. She had to stop when a woman practically ran into her. She stopped short, the bags in her hands jostling just a little too much and she leaned forward too much to keep herself from falling onto the woman. The woman immediately began apologizing and Liona exhaled in frustration, righting herself to take a look at the women. Just one look at her and she knew she recognized her. "No matter Ms. Longbottom. We aren't hurt and I believe that is what's most important," Liona stated, straightening her dress and bags after she'd given her a once over. It was hard to not recognize Alice Longbottom; it was hard not to be recognized when your father was a war hero. The fact that the woman had only graduated the year before Liona was a small matter. They were direct opposites of on another standing on the streets as they were. Liona was brown where Longbottom leaned on the paler side, Liona's hair was black and braided long where Alice's was blonde and shorter, she was shorter than the Longbottom girl as well but that wasn't really difficult when Liona only stood at 5 feet 2 inches. She even noticed that the girl stood empty handed where her arms were littered with her finds. Considering this area was a well known shopping district, she found that odd. "Are you here for some shopping as well?"

Alice continued to look anywhere but at the woman she had ran into until she spoke Alice's name, she automatically met her eyes. The girl was much shorter than Alice, which was the first thing she noticed before her features set in. This was the Zabini girl from school. She was a year younger than Alice, and in Slytherin. Those reasons alone would have been reason enough for the two to never have spoken in school, but before her seventh year, Alice never spent a lot of time talking to anyone in school so she never would have spoken to this girl either. Though, considering both of their families it wasn't out of the ordinary for the two of them to easily recognize one another.
Alice just nodded as Liona commented about neither of them being hurt. She was glad that the Slytherin alum didn't harp on it. Though the blonde was a fair deal more outgoing these days than she used to be as a student, she was still just as awkward. Alice did a little shrug when Liona asked if she was there to shop as well. "Uh," she hesitated momentarily. "Yes. I hadn't exactly started just yet, though," she spoke slowly and still just a tad awkwardly. "Not sure where to start."

It was in Liona’s nature to pry, to glean information from people in whatever way she could when she noticed something off. So when the blonde girl replied in the way that she did, Liona felt like there was something off about her. She was curious; was there something wrong with her? Maybe she had something going on and had come to clear her mind? She wanted to ask her about it. Instead, she surveyed her for a moment before looking around the plaza where they stood. She mentioned she’d just arrived and hadn’t started her shopping yet. She didn’t look exactly out of place but she did seem out of sorts. "Have you been here before?" If she hadn’t, she was rather lucky. Liona knew the area very well; knew where to find what store and could even offer suggestions if you were looking for something specific. Liona, however, felt rather unlucky. Even though she was much calmer than she had arrived, she hadn’t exactly been looking for company. She would, probably, end up turning into a guide of sorts for her. It was only courteous right? Liona tried to think for a moment; did she know what the Longbottom girl had been up to? Did she work for the ministry? She couldn’t recall hearing anything about her in that manner. She could always find out, one way or another.. "I guess it really depends on what you are looking for?" The words were spoken kindly, in a coaxing manner to get her to tell her what it was she was shopping for.
