Kinsey slowly made her way through the library, glancing down all the small aisles as she tried to find a place to study. The library was much busier than she thought it would be and she found herself annoyed that so many people were here when she wanted to be. Couldn't they be somewhere else? Surely most of them would rather be outside for whatever reason.
Her annoyance growing as she continued to make her way through the Library, Kinsey started looking for familiar faces. Maybe if she found a friend she could simply sit next to them and they wouldn't mind. However, they didn't seem to be anywhere. Apparently all her friends were outside, enjoying what might be one of the last nice weather days of the year.
Near the end of one of the rows, she found someone sitting alone at a table. Kinsey hesitantly approached, noting that the person's intentions weren't negative. So she might as well ask if she could sit near the guy. "Hey ... sorry to interrupt you. Can I sit here?" she gestured to the seat across from the guy. Hopefully he wouldn't mind. If he did, she'd have to go somewhere else entirely. Which would definitely be annoying.

School work had never been Landon's strong suit. So he was wondering a bit why he had been sitting by himself in the library since just after breakfast. It was a beautiful late autumn day, and Landon wasn't even going to enjoy it properly. He cursed the professors and their mounting homework assignments. This particular one, assigned by Professor Zabini, was a nasty one about the differences between ghosts and inferi. How was he supposed to write an entire foot of parchment on this? So far he'd gotten as much as ghosts are transparent. Landon was sure that was a good start, but he didn't know how to continue.
Landon put his head down on the table. He was hopeless at this sort of thing. He much preferred group projects. It's not that he wanted to slack off, he just didn't grasp magical concepts as well as other people did. He needed a bit more help. He sat up and considered his parchment for a moment. Perhaps he should switch out his quill for a sugar one? No, that would be a waste of the day. And since he couldn't practice football today, he really had to get this work done. With a groan, Landon placed his quill on the parchment again.
By some sort of miracle, someone approached him. Landon looked around, not having noticed that it got crowded as the day had wore on. He knew Kinsey from having classes together with her for seven years, though they had never exchanged more than a few words. "Yeah, go on. You alright, Kinsey?" asked Landon, clearing a spot for her to sit down. "By the way, have you finished Professor Zabini's essay?"

When the guy lifted his head and looked at her, Kinsey recognized him almost immediately. She wasn't entirely sure about his name, though she was pretty sure it started with an "L". Maybe Lucas or Logan or Landon ... wait! That was it, Landon. She smiled, relieved that she remembered his name, since he obviously knew hers. She sat down across from him and shrugged. "I'm all right. A little annoyed that it's so busy in here, but I guess that shouldn't be too big of a surprise." Really, it wasn't. Lots of people put off their work until Saturday, so it wasn't really news that the Library was often busy on Saturdays. Kinsey just didn't normally come on the weekends. "How are you doing? You looked a little tired there," Kinsey smiled, hoping she wouldn't offend him by saying that. She honestly didn't know how sensitive of a person he was, since they hadn't really talked with one another before.
Kinsey nodded when he asked about their essay for Defense Against the Dark Arts. "Yeah, how far are you?" She figured he probably wasn't too far, since he was asking her about her own. "Would you like some help with it?" Kinsey wasn't normally one for tutoring others- mostly because it made her come out of her own little bubble, but since she was actively trying to do that now, offering to help wasn't a bad thing. He also had pretty positive intentions, so that helped as well. Besides, Kinsey just wanted to study some more about empaths. Her work wasn't schoolwork, so she might as well help someone else out.
