Sept. 1st 2024 The welcome feast had just ended and Adrian was stuck to his seat, unable to get up. He wanted to follow Lily out, but he didn't have the courage. He had sat beside some people he didn't know that well, so they just didn't bother saying anything to him. Thankfully, he looked up and Hugo and Sav were working their way toward him through the crowd of returning students and American Transfers. Adrian breathed a long sigh of relief and stood, grinning as his friends drew near. "Oi, how is this school still in tact with you two running around without me?" he called to them as they reached him. He hugged Hugo first with one arm, then patted Sav hard on the shoulder with his free hand. @sav @hugo

Sav hadn’t thought about the fact that one of his oldest friends would be returning with the coming of the Ilvermorny lot. He wasn’t sure how that had slipped his mind. Adrian left a while ago to go study in America but since the school burned down, he’d be back here. Sav put all of that together when he saw the young man standing in the Great Hall after the welcome feast. “Hey Man!” Sav greeted his friend with a wide smile. He was glad to see him, it would be a great year with the three of them back together again, ending Hogwarts the same way they had started it. “Welcome back to the UK. You missed us so much you just couldn’t stay away.” he teased.

With becoming Head Boy and everything, Hugo entirely forgot the fact that Adrian should be coming back to school with the rest of the Ilvermorny students. He grinned and nodded at his friend when he entered the hall, but wasn't upset when Adrian sat a bit away from him and Sav. That was all right. He and Sav enjoyed the feast, catching up on their summers and such.
Once it was over, however, Hugo rose to his feet and made his way straight to Adrian. He laughed as his friend greeted them and returned the one-armed hug, pounding his back a few times as he did so. "How is it going to stay in tact now that you're back," he teased with a chuckle. He nodded as Sav welcomed Adrian back, teasing him about not being about to stay away. "You ready to make this the best year yet?" Honestly, Hugo didn't know what they could do to accomplish that goal, but with the three of them back together they'd figure something out.

Hugo countered Adrians comment by saying that the school was more in danger of falling apart with Adrian around. Adrian nodded, "that's a good point. The three of us do much more damage than just two, I'm sure," he agreed. Sav welcomed him back and Adrian grinned, happy for the distraction from Lily for the moment. Sav commented that Adrian just missed them so much that he came back, and Adrian shrugged, "I mean, that's not entirely untrue," he chuckled. "I could have gone to Brazil instead, but I thought I may as well get take the offer to come back here. Since you're here and all," he teased, but then his gaze flickered toward the door that Lily had just gone out of... and then he turned back to the guys as Hugo asked if he was ready to make this the best year yet, "only if I get to room with you guys - do you know if they're integrated the 'American'," he did air quotes with his fingers, "or not?"@sav @hugo (they can say there is room for Adrian, there was a discussion the other day about the school wanting everyone to mix up instead of keeping them separate)

Sav had to admit, this was shaping up to be a pretty great year. Quidditch captain, seventh year, he was on top of the social food chain, not that he had ever been too low on it anyway. And now the three of them were back together, with Hugo as head boy. Sav wouldn’t do anything to threaten his friends’ status, but, that also didn’t mean he planned on being a perfect influence. “Yeah I’m pretty sure they’re integrated in.” Sav admitted, he hadn’t thought much about the idea of the Americans sharing his dorm, and he hadn’t been up there yet to see if they added any extra beds or dorm rooms, but since they were all sorted into the houses, it made sense that those of the same year would be in dorms together. He wasn’t sure how he hadn’t thought about it. He hadn’t thought about much of anything other than Quidditch and girls, to be honest. He hadn’t changed all the much, after all. “Should we check it out?”

Hugo nodded as Adrian agreed with him, saying that the three of them could do quite a bit of damage. Not that he wanted to "damage" Hogwarts by any means, but Hugo did love messing around with his best friends. He laughed when Adrian commented that he could have gone to Brasil instead. "Awwwe, but Brazil isn't as fun as us," Hugo teased.
Adrian asked his question about the rooms and Hugo opened his mouth to answer, but Sav beat him to it, saying he was pretty sure. "They are integrated in," Hugo confirmed with a confident nod. Hey, what was the point in being Head Boy if you didn't know some useful information every once in a while. "So you'll get to hang with us, just like old times." He nodded at Sav's suggestion, starting to make his way toward the doors to the Great Hall so they could make their way upstairs.

Hugo said Brazil wasn't as fun as they were and Adrian laughed, nodding. "That's what I guessed, so here I am," he winked, lifting a hand to lightly punch Hugo in the shoulder. "Plus, not sure I want to deal with a third language. Knowing two already is hard enough," he joked. Really, he wouldn't mind learning more, but maybe not at the same time of finishing his last year of wizarding school. Sav assured him that they were sure the dorms were mixed up, which was good because Adrian was planning on rooming with his friends whether he had to hijack a bed or not. Sav suggested they check it out, but Hugo confirmed they were. "Oooh, yeah. Mr. Head Boy is in the loop," Adrian teased. Still, they started to head out together. After a moment, Adrian cleared his throat, "so... how's Lily been?" he asked them. @sav @hugo

Sav gave a nod when Hugo explained the situation. Adrina joked that Hugo was in the loop and Sav nodded, clapping the head boy on the back. “I know, he’s our ticket out of trouble this year.” he insisted with a breathy laugh. He would never take advantage of Hugo’s status like that, at least, not without Hugo on board for the fun. The three of them began their way up to the common room, which always seemed to take forever after not having made the trek for a few months. Whos idea was it to put the living quarters so far away from the food anyway? Hufflepuffs had it nice being so close to the kitchens, he mused. Adrian clearing his throat brought Sav’s mind back from food and onto the question at hand. He asked about Lily. Sav knew, of course, that the two of them had a history and it was expected for him to ask about her, but the Gryffindor shrugged, he didn’t really know what to say. “Good, I think? I haven’t seen her in a bit.” he wasn’t too close with any of the Potters. Hugo and Roxy were about the only Weasley’s he talked to anymore. He then glanced over to Hugo, figuring he would know more about his cousin than Sav did.

Hugo smirked when Adrian said he was right, but his friend's reasons for not wanting to stay in Brazil were definitely valid. Hugo definitely wouldn't want to learn another language. Heck, he only knew one language now. Adrian already knew another one. He was fine without a third. Hugo nodded, but didn't say anything, since it didn't really seem like there was anything that needed to be said about it. "Glad to have you back," was his only answer. It'd been weird, being here at the end of last year without his friend. Incomplete.
Both boys were now teasing him about his new responsibilities and Hugo rolled his eyes. It was all in good fun, but a part of it was true. He did have a lot of authority in the school now and he did know what was going on more so than other students would. He made a face at Sav when he said that Hugo was their ticket out of trouble. "Only if I'm involved in it with you guys," Hugo countered, hoping that his friends knew without him saying it that he still wanted to have fun this year. The headmistress made him head boy, but that was after six years of having him in the school. Everyone knew Hugo wasn't always the best behaved, so they shouldn't expect that to change nowt hat he had a badge.
Climbing the stairs with his two best friends felt normal and Hugo couldn't help but relax just a little bit. Things were definitely going to be good this year, with both Hugo and Adrian present, even if he did have to help around the school and go on patrols and things. After a bit, Adrian asked the almost inevitable question. Hugo didn't want to say he knew it was coming, but he did. Adrian and Lily were always close before. It was no surprise that he would ask about her now. He shrugged, shaking his head a little, "I haven't talked to Lily much," he started, but he could feel both of his friend's eyes on him. He wasn't stopping there, "but I know that her dad's disappearance really shook her up. I think she's been having a hard go of it, not that she's really letting many people in, you know?" Hugo and Lily never were super close, despite being cousins in the same year and house. He didn't have anything against her, they just never really clicked. Not like she and Adrian had, at least.

"Thank you," Adrian said, when Hugo said he was glad to have him back. Sav said that Hugo, le Head Boy, was their ticket out of trouble this year and Adrian grinned, "well, it looks like I made the right choice then, for certain. That settles it," he said with a confident nod and another laugh. "And you'll never escape being 'involved' with us, Hu." The three of them had gotten into plenty of trouble over the years. Nothing that bad, really, but enough that it was a little hard to believe Hugo was Head Boy. Adrian often forgot his friend was actually a good student. Sav said he didn't really see Lily, and that he thought she was doing good. Hugo said he hadn't talked to her much either, but that Harry's disappearance had really shaken her. Adrian nodded, frowning. Hugo said that Lily wasn't really letting people in, which didn't surprise Adrian. "I've been a terrible friend," he said with a shake of his head. "But, anyway," she cleared his throat, unsure how to change the topic now. @sav @hugo

Sav had basically forgotten about Harry’s disappearance. Of course he knew about it, his parents were fairly distraught over it and so was he. But when Adrian had asked about Lily, the fact that her father had disappeared had slipped his mind. Adrian insisted that he was a bad friend, Sav could assume that he hadn’t check in on Lily after his move to America. Sav felt a little bad for how ignorant his comment had been about Lily being good, obviously, she probably wasn’t. “Me too, mate.” Sav sighed with a shrug. He and Lily were friends enough. The last time he spoke to her was last year at a party, but still, they were friendly enough. “How was your year at Ilvermorny? Did you replace us yet?” he asked, playfully, noting his friends desire to change the subject, he didn’t blame him.

Hugo rolled his eyes as both of his friends commenced in teasing him about his Head Boy status. "I didn't ask them to make me Head Boy," he informed his friends. "They knew I got into mischief before. If they think this is going to change things, they haven't gotten to know me at all the last several years. I have no intention of escaping anything with you guys." Obviously "they" referred to the teachers or whoever decided to make him Head Boy. He still thought it was a silly decision.
Asking about Lily definitely didn't lift the mood, but Hugo understood why his friend did it. He and Lily had been super close before he left. When Adrian wasn't with Hugo and Sav, he'd often been with the other Gryffindor. The topic got awkward enough when his friend said that he was a terrible friend. "You can be a better one now," he suggested. "We all can." Hugo definitely could have been a better cousin, but there wasn't anything he could do about it now. He could just try to be better for the future. He smiled at Sav, relieved when the other guy started asking questions. That meant he didn't have to think of any. He smiled a little and turned to look at Adrian, curious about the questions, even though Sav was obviously not serious about them.

Hu said that he didn't ask to be Head Boy, but that they thought this would change his mischievous ways. "Maybe they just thought the Ministers son would be a good choice," Adrian joked, laughing. "Seriously, though, how's your mum handling that?" Adrian couldn't imagine. He'd never want to be in a position like that. Sav admitted he had been a bad friend too and Adrian wondered if Lily had anyone to turn to while he was gone, but he didn't want to ask anymore questions about it. Hugo said they could all be better friends now and Adrian nodded, no further comments. Sav asked Adrian if he had replaced them and Ad shook his head, scoffing. "Americans are crazy," he said in a quiet voice. "But, I mean, there were some cool people, for sure. No one like you guys though. Maybe a few cute girls," Adrian had flirted a little, sure. @sav @hugo

Sav knew that Hugo’s mum must have been thrilled with the news that her son had been made head boy. Sav knew his own mother would have been thrilled if he had even just been made prefect. Quidditch captain was a good position, and the only one that Sav desired to hold, but he knew it didn’t quite reach his moms expectations. Oh well, his twin was the over achieving, academic one. Sav was fine being a slight disappointment on that front.
Sav laughed when Adrian answered his question, explaining that the Americans were crazy, “You should have warned us then.” Sav teased. He could have prepared to share his castle with the ‘crazy Americans’, but he knew his friend had to be kidding, at least a little bit. “Oh well I like to hear that, all of the Hogwarts girls seem to be immune to my charms by now, maybe I can find a nice American girl to work my magic on.” he smirked.

Hugo chortled, shaking his head when Adrian said that they thought the Minister's son would be a good choice. "Then they obviously ignored my behavior for the last six years," he argued. Granted, he hadn't ever really been caught doing most of the things he'd done, but the implications were there for anyone that paid attention. The teachers just never looked too far into his harmless pranks. Then he rolled his eyes. "She's so thrilled. You should've seen her face when I got the letter." Hugo grimaced a little. Sure, he loved his mum and was glad that she was proud of him, but Head Boy wasn't one of his goals. Her excitement over it was a little much from his point of view.
He grinned at the explanation that Americans were crazy. That was pretty clear, even after just a train ride with the group. They weren't particularly quiet and seemed to have their own cliques and such, though he was sure they did the same thing. He nodded as Adrian explained that there were some cool people, then shrugged, "Like anyone could be as cool as us," Hugo joked. His eyes widened when Adrian mentioned cute girls and Sav joked about it. The idea of girls was a little strange to Hugo at the moment, since he and Xan just barely broke up, but he found that he was a little excited at the prospect of meeting new girls. "So are you going to warn us of specific girls that we might want to stay away from?" Hugo teased, trying to join the conversation again. He didn't want to be thinking of Xan right now.
