bet on it.
THOUGH MOST DAYS DONNA SPENT HER TIME sending owls and filling in books, some days she took a little time to herself. Without leaving the casino, of course, Donna only ever left the place while it was open when she absolutely had to. Perhaps it was her overwhelming need for control, or maybe it truly would fall to pieces without her. Either way, she often spent her free time behind the bar or playing a hand or two.
"Aw, c'mon, mate!" Donna laughed, swiping a pile of galleons towards her, grinning as she watched her opponent huff and haw about his loss. "Don't be a sore loser." Her thick cockney accent made her seem rather insincere, which she was. But, she meant no hard feelings as she piled her coins in to a neat little tower before bowing out. Never leave empty handed, her father used to say. And so she left a winner, slipping across the room to the bar as she searched for familiar faces.
There were a few, some welcome and some not. She rounded the bar and grabbed a bottle of firewhiskey and two glasses, placing one down in front of her and the other down in front of a rather lonely looking man. "Ah, Vicky," She tittered, still reeling from her win as she poured herself a generous three fingers of firewhiskey and the same for her friend. "Cheer up, might never happen, mate." And then she tilted her head down to catch his eye, teeth flashing. He didn't look particularly upset, in fact he was one of the friendliest Slytherin's she knew, but she liked to poke fun at him.
"You know what I'm trying to figure out," She said, beginning conversation as if they'd be talking for hours. She bent on the waist and leaned casually on her forearms, glass loose in one hand as she brought it to her lips and took a nippy sip. "I'm wondering if everyone here," She was looking over his shoulder, loosening one finger from her glass to point in a curve around the room, "thinks I'm a massive cheater." She kissed firewhiskey from her lips and shrugged, catching his eye again. "What d'you think, eh?"
