Days where the leaves turned golden and soon fell were the very few moments that Zenevieva loved about her life. As she was a half-vampire, she sensed the changes in the atmosphere as well as the nice and helpful disappearance of the sun. Unlike her mother who would burn in the rays of sunlight, Zen merely sun-burned. She hated the feeling of feeling like toast, especially on days where she would wear a cute tee. Let's just say, October's arrival brought a smile to Zen's lips.
Though regardless of the weather, whenever the Novell girl had a class in the Potions classroom, a jacket was always required to keep on hand, considering it was always chilly. And soon, Zenevieva found herself in the hallways of the Dungeons level of the Hogwarts school, just shy of the ending of lunch, at the exact moment her Hufflepuff friend: Eli had told her to meet her. Unlike other students, Zen always arrived early before a planned moment or a class as an attempt to learn something new - from one of the many books she had yet to read - before the class actually began in the afternoon or before the time she had to meet said person had reached.
As her shoes pressed against the cold floors, her ears twitched at the soft sound of movement, indicating that Zen wasn't exactly alone - not that she had intended to be anyway. Turning around, Zenevieva noticed the presence of someone she didn't recognise but recognised the house he belonged to from the colours of his robes. Hufflepuff! just like Eli. To her benefit, Zen had the advantage to ask if the person knew of Eli's whereabouts or if perhaps he was inside the Hufflepuff common room - a place the Novell knew she couldn't step foot inside of.
Chewing on her bottom lip, Zenevieva considered her options - talk to said stranger and find out answers? Or wait until he noticed her because of her crippling social anxiety? She chose the latter.

10.XX.2024 The one thing Lance was not going to miss about Hogwarts was having to rush between classes. He had made the mistake of forgetting a notebook that was for one of his afternoon classes in his dorm. Normally he would have shrugged it off, finding another scrap of paper to write on for the time being and transcribing it over later in the evening. The problem this year was that he was a Prefect. Expected to be perfect, which he was starting to hate as the term progressed, and without fault. Some of the professors refused to take exception to this and would most certainly criticize him for forgetting a notebook. Being called out in front of the class wasn’t something he enjoyed either, and it would mean that his peers would think less of him while he tried to do his Prefect duties. It was a rough circle of life at Hogwarts sometimes, and he was amazed that there were still new things to experience seven years into it.
Following lunch and his morning classes, Lance bolted out of the Great Hall and down into the dungeons, making a beeline for the Hufflepuff dorms. In his hurried rush, he may have used his power and stated official Prefect business to get the crowds of students to move out of the way. There was at least twenty or so minutes until class still but he wanted to get in and out of the common room quickly. Someone would inevitably try to stop him in there and ask a question or two. It always happened. Thankfully the Hufflepuffs that were lying about in the common room paid no heed to his flurry of robes - quickly up to his dorm room and back out as if he was a ghost just passing through.
While his task inside the common room was fast, the corridors in the dungeon had cleared out completely. He didn’t mind since it would make traversing them a lot easier. Getting stuck in line trying to go through the entrance to the underground facilities was the biggest pain in the world. This clog could happen in a matter of seconds too since it only took a few students who were incapable of walking through a door to suddenly make it a problem. Picking up his pace to try and avoid the possible traffic jam, a person standing off to the side of the corridor caught his eye. The girl seemed to be watching him, and he wasn’t sure if it was because of the glint of his Prefect’s badge or the fact that he was almost running down the hallway. “Afternoon,” Lance said with a small dip of his head as he passed her. If she needed Prefect help, all she would have to do was ask. He wasn’t in the mood to stop and figure it out himself today.

In just a few sudden moments Zenevieva found herself turning to the direction she had originally came from, her gaze locked on with the stranger she had met moments before. As he passed the soft glint of the badge was revealed to her, making the Novell girl's eyes widen as she knew he could most definitely help her. Although as he spoke to her, she knew he had no intention to stop unless she actually spoke up. "Excuse me- I, um..." For a moment the half vampire paused, breathing in to compose herself and refuse her anxiety from kicking in. "I'm trying to find the Hufflepuff common room...And I noticed your robes are yellow like theirs so..."
Preventing herself from rambling on, Zen bit down on her bottom lip once more, her fingers fiddling in front of her as she looked up at him, ready to add something else in. "I'm- I'm looking for a friend?" The way the poor brunette spoke made it pretty clear she was unsure of her own statements, but she had no one around to speak for her - as most people usually would. Even though he was a Prefect, Zen had the underlying feeling that he could also reject her request for help, something that was rather common for her since she usually rambled on before said request was out or remained quiet regardless.

10.XX.2024 Lance was almost in the clear. He figured the girl at the edge of the hallway would either return his greeting or ignore him completely, like most students did. He was so close. And then he heard a soft voice trailing after him. It wasn’t quite a whisper, but it was also lacking any sort of ‘umph’ that a normal question would have. If he wasn’t so caught up in utilizing his Southern hospitality, he probably would have played it off like he hadn’t heard her. Lance stopped in the middle of a stride, a few feet past the girl, and turned back to look at her. She had been polite after all, and he initiated it anyways. Running now wouldn’t reflect well back on a Prefect. She started to say that she was looking for the Hufflepuff common room, and he was obviously in it because of his robes. She was also looking for a friend? Lance kept the chuckle to himself, turning it into a smile as he moved closer to her.
“Yeah the common room is ‘round that corner over there,” he explained, using his hand to give the girl a visual description of the turn she needed to make. “Your friend is a Hufflepuff? What’s their name? I could probably tell you if they’re in there or not.” Even though his trip through the common room had been brief, most of the faces in there were familiar enough to him. A little nudging with the year and what they looked like and he was sure to know who it was. “You’re from Ilvermorny aren’t you? There are a lot more of y’all than I expected. Wish I could have gone there too.” ” They would have been his and Georgie’s classmates, had they gone there instead of being shipped all the way over to England. Somehow that was still bothering him all these years later, even more so now that there were tons of ‘what-ifs’ with the Ilvermorny students.

Green eyes followed the hand that provided Zen with some visual understanding of where the common room was. From her own knowledge she knew that different house members weren’t meant to know or try to exactly find where the other houses’ common rooms were – considering they would be refused entry. When the other questioned on Zenevieva’s friends name, only two names came to mind. Eli and Sari Fawley. ”I’m not sure of his last name or even his full name…But he goes by Eli.” She spoke out, her fingers playing with one another. ”I believe he’s buddied up with someone called Sari Fawley?”
The next question left the Novell smiling, a hint of red flushing her face. ”I’m sorry for invading your school.” She joked, pushing her brunette locks behind her ears. ”Why would you want to go to Ilvermorny? Isn’t Hogwarts more popular?” It was interesting to know a person would’ve preferred to go to Ilvermorny, and while for some their time in Ilvermorny were the best moments of their life – for Zenevieva it was the absolute worst. It reminded her of the question Daniel – a fellow student from Ilvermorny – asked, how was her last year there. Dreadful.

10.XX.2024 She was looking for Eli? He knew who that was! “Eli, like Elijah, Eli?” Lance asked, just to clear it up that it was the one he was thinking about. Saying the other boy’s name pulled out a thick southern accent that Lance thought he had lost long ago. “Because he’s one of my roommates.” And this girl was waiting for him. While Lance had only been in their dorm briefly, Elijah hadn’t been in there at all. There was the possibility that he had been lounging on one of the couches, but that didn’t seem all that likely. He stuck out. “I don’t think he’s in there right now though…” Lance casually looked back over his shoulder, as if he was expecting the answer to be there for him. “If he’s buddied with Sari, maybe he’s with her? Can’t say I know the sixth years schedule by heart, but if she’s been showing him ‘round than I guess it’s possible.”
There was a number of places Elijah could be. With Sari, as aforementioned, or in class, which was also a possibility. They did have one in a little while, so there was a chance he had already headed up there. “I’m going to our next class right now, so if he’s going too you might be able to catch him on the way,” Lance offered. That was the least he could do, instead of leaving the poor girl standing in the dungeons until her friend showed up. “But we have to go like, right now to make it on time,” he added, laughing a bit before turning to walk back out of the basement.
The girl responded to his question about being from Ilvermorny and asked her own in return. Why would he want to go to the American school? Any number of reasons, the first being that it would mean his dad was still alive and his parents wouldn’t have left him and Georgie on their own. But Lance couldn’t unload that onto a person he just met. That would be ridiculous to do so. Scaring away the people he would have been classmates with had he gone to Ilvermorny was a great course of action, in his opinion. “It’s because I was forced to go here,” he said frankly. “I would have preferred to have gone to school at Ilvermorny, to be honest. Moving to a country you know nothing about and being told to integrate with the locals is hard. At least I have that part in common with y’all.”

With a nod, Zenevieva found herself smiling. The Novell was tempted to ask how the Prefect knew the Hufflepuff, aside from sharing the House traits and common room with one another. But in all fairness and honesty, who didn't know Eli? "R-Roommate?" She repeated, an unsteady smile on her lips. "How do you manage?" As a Sixth year while her friend was a Seventh year transfer, it was difficult to speak with Eli aside from Lunch and before curfew sets into place. Considering the differences in their class schedules. ”Sari…” The half-vampire murmured, the name familiar on the tip of her tongue. ”Ah well that’s okay.”
Zen decided to take the Prefect up on his offer, beginning to walk by his side – a smile twisting the corners of her lips. ”S-Sure!” She stammered, catching up by his side. ”I’m Zenevi-Zen. Zen Novell.” An introduction between the two was rather late, especially considering he was a Prefect, known to help others while also provide punishments. ”Thank you for helping me Prefect…” The brunette trailed off, hoping that he would respond with his name. Zenevieva didn’t want to make matters worse by referring to the Hufflepuff as ‘Prefect’ the whole time.
Zen found herself nodding once more in understanding. She felt the same way after transferring to the British Wizarding School. While it was somewhat coincidental that she was starting the year alongside the peers she had finished the prior year with, if and when they returned to the States – Zen wouldn’t be following. Her life was now here in Hogwarts and London, alongside her aunt Adèle. ”I relate. In that sense.” She began, her smile struggling to now rest on her lips – a reminder for why she was here in the first place. ”Ilvermorny was cool…” Not that Zen enjoyed most of her time there. Unless it was with Kaylee or Ellie. ”That’s how I felt after moving here a few months ago.” During the time when she was still technically a fifth year that is.

10.XX.2024 “I’d say we get on,” Lance responded neutrally. There wasn’t much to say about his relationship with Eli, aside from them being roommates. They had talked, sure, but Lance had other duties to the school that tended to take him out of most conversations and meetings with his roommates. The Hogwarts ones had done a good job of integrating the new guys though, from what he could tell. They were all great people at the end of the day. “Suppose y’all are friends from Ilvermorny, right?” he asked. That had to be it. Probably even the same house. There had been plenty of questions over the last few months about what house Lance would have been in at Ilvermorny. He still didn’t really get why they were allowed to choose, and how that differed from having the Sorting Hat just tell him where to go. Maybe that was what truly made him a student at Hogwarts and not at the school he should have gone to.
The girl, Zen, agreed to walk with him up to his class. That was going to make his job that much easier. Two birds with one stone, the saying went. And if Eli wasn’t at the classroom yet, at least she would have a new starting point. Waiting out in front of the common room was infinitely a worse position to be in. There was no telling when someone would wander back into their dorm room. Lance knew. He had escorted enough students back at every possible hour. He hated having to do that, but those were the rules and he was the law. “Lance Linley,” he finished her statement. “You’re a sixth year? Maybe you’ve had a class or two with my sister. Little blonde Hufflepuff. Goes by Georgie.” Blonde Hufflepuff was a great descriptor. That was half of the house for some unknown reason. Apparently the Hat liked to shove all of them together.
She seemed to understand what he was going on about when it came to being forced to relocate to England. Except he was sure that her situation was because of the damage done to Ilvermorny and not because her parents suddenly up and disappeared, leaving more questions than answers behind. Lance mentally slapped himself for even trying to compare their situations; that wasn’t a healthy thing to do, and everyone processed things differently. Her experience of having to move could very well have been just as horrible and traumatic as his was, obviously to different degrees but just as awful nonetheless. “Well, Hogwarts can be cool in its own way I guess. Takes some gettin’ used to though, and a lot of things that should make sense about the school don’t actually. Like the moving staircases or the forest full of deadly creatures in our backyard,” Lance shrugged. He didn’t want to scare her at all, but there were definitely some nasty things hiding in the trees. Waltzing through them without a care in the world would definitely be something he would advise against. “How do you like it so far? Aside from being forced to be here? I’m required to ask whenever I’m given the chance.” Lance tapped on his Prefect badge to show that it was all because of ‘official business’.

Zenevieva found herself nodding again, intrigued at the fact that someone else knew of her crazy friends. Both Eli and Sari being the perfect examples. ”If friends is the best name for it…” She trailed off, her hand pushing her hair behind her ear. ”Then yeah we were- still are.” She stuttered, pausing. Eli and Zen bonded in the strangest of ways back in their younger years in Ilvermorny – hiding from their bullies in the same area and having lunch while even discussing the topic. Though, all of her friends were in fact from Ilvermorny. Kaylee and Eli being her best friends, Eli being a passing friend who shared the same troubles as the half-vampire herself.
As the two walked, Zen stayed rather quiet along the Prefect’s side, answering his questions. Lance was a simple but a name she liked and hoped that the Hufflepuff and herself could potentially be friends, even if he was simply helping her find a friend. Though, Georgie was a name that sounded familiar in the Novell’s mind but considering the lack of people Zenevieva spoke to in the first place. With doubt and uncertainty crossing her facial expression she looked sideways to him. ”I-It’s more than likely but I don’t think I know her properly.” But the way Lance detailed his sister made the half-vampire laugh mentally. Blonde, little and a Hufflepuff seemed to describe most of the people Zenevieva saw day-to-day. Sari Fawley being a perfect example.
With Lance’s comments on the moving staircase and even the deadly creatures arose some questions in her mind. Why did Hogwarts have so many different attributes? Weird things and secret places. From what Zenevieva remembered, Ilvermorny was great in some aspects but the element of surprise lied in Hogwarts. ”What kind of deadly creatures?” She questioned, somewhat intrigued. ”I like it here.” Minus the fact she was bullied for most of her time in Ilvermorny – but that was something she kept to herself. Nevertheless, she remained honest cracking a smile when he tapped his badge. ”Quieter for me…Better classes…Better people…” With a pause, she glanced up at him. ”D-Do you enjoy being a Prefect?”

10.XX.2024 Talking about her friends, or whether they were friends in the first place, was probably a topic he didn’t need to broach any further. She had said it in a sad, pitiable manner, and Lance knew better than to push someone that didn’t want to talk, to talk. There were a few fellow Hufflepuffs that came to mind that were like that, where silence was a better response than dragging the conversation on. Social awareness had been listed as one of the reasons the title of Prefect was granted on him. Knowing how to read a situation and act accordingly was a superior skill to have in life, no thanks to growing up in an orphanage and learning how to deal with all sorts of children. Not everyone wanted to talk, and he could respect that.
Backing off on his own questions to let Zen talk, they walked in silence for a while. She commented on the fact that she was sure she knew who Georgie was, but didn’t actually know her. That made sense. His sister had her own clique and tended to keep away from anyone that wasn’t involved in it. Making friends with the Ilvermorny students that could have been her friends, had they gone there instead, didn’t sound like something she would do. If curiosity killed the cat, he was sure anything was possible. Georgie was Georgie after all. “Maybe that wasn’t the best description of her,” he chuckled, adding a shrug of his shoulders into the mix. “But I’m sure you’ll run into her eventually. She comes across pretty brash, but it’s all a front. Just don’t tell her I told you.”
What kind of deadly creatures did the forest have? He had no clue. Lance said as much, “Honestly, I have no idea. I’ve heard about giant spiders and werewolves, but we also have werewolf students, so I’m sure that’s just one of them going for a run during the full-moon.” Knowing what went on in the forest wasn’t any of his business. Some of his friends had an obsession with breaking the rules and trying to sneak in after dark, but Lance didn’t see the novelty of it. If there were dangerous beasts in there, why risk it? The school put up a warning for a reason, and they were meant to follow that.
“That’s good,” he responded. Most of the Ilvermorny students he had talked to liked the idea of going to Hogwarts for the year, but still wanted to return at the end of it. Whether or not that actually happened didn’t matter to him; once the spring term was done, so was Lance. His only concern at that point would be for Georgie to graduate. “I don’t mind it. I think it restricts what I do more than I’d like it to.” While assisting students when they needed help was great, having to conduct patrols at night or write people up would definitely not be on his highlight reel at the end of the year. Those made him the enemy, and Lance didn’t like being the enemy. “If I could go back in time, I would turn it down.”

Not necessarily being a big talker, Zenevieva wasn’t the kind of person to express her gratitude for her friends and even found difficulty doing it around her family. She hadn’t meant to come across as rather sad, or even constantly trailing off but it was simply the person she was. Talking wasn’t her strongest point but she was always forced to. Zen always wondered of a life where she was mute, or even an experience where she refused to speak. But knowing how difficult she was to get her points across, she would find herself frustrated when her friends didn’t understand her. So the simple quiet life was nothing more of a fantasy. But she respected the Prefect before her, not necessarily diving into details about her friends.
The Ravenclaw laughed briefly, accompanied by a nod as he commented about the description of his sister not being the best one. It was rather true. Hufflepuff had a staple from afar, filled with fair blondes and innocent faces. Even then, anything was possible. Most of the people Zen found herself falling—literal falling—into were those she had seen while passing. But when anxiety filled you up to your heights worth and words fumbled in your mind, it was kind of difficult to make sudden friendships in the Halls of Hogwarts. But when the Hufflepuff spoke of his sister’s front, Zen felt herself smiling. She used to wonder if her own reservedness was a phase she stuck to because it was something she was used to doing. But when she embarrassed herself so long ago in an attempt to become confident, she knew who she truly was. An anxious little half-vampire. ”Noted…I’ll be sure to keep your secret.” She responded, lowering her tone as if there were people amongst them.
Zenevieva felt the need to snort at the information. That was it? The things she had read from Hogwart’s history and even Gilderoy’s textbooks made the Forest seem more dangerous. Though, Zen herself counted towards the danger, being half a dark creature herself. ”We do?” She questioned. So it wasn’t just half-vampires around, there were more? That was something she’d eventually research into. She knew herself that stepping into the forest was breaking many boundaries but most of the half-creatures were let off. In Zen’s case when…That time arrived— the craving of blood — she was usually let off to chew on a blood lolly in the Nurse’s office or the forrest itself. As long as she didn’t go too deep inside.
Ilvermorny was one place Zen had no intention to return to, more so because she didn’t have the chance to, now with her legal guardian residing in London but it would’ve been a choice of her own if her parents were still alive. To many, Ilvermorny was a great school. But to Zen, all Ilvermorny brought were teases and a warm welcome for bullies to practice. She quietly hummed as a response, a slow nod following as the silence settled between them once more, until Lance spoke of his Prefect stuff. "How so? I hear you guys have a fancy bathroom..." Zen would have enjoyed a private bathroom. Would've definitely been the best hiding spot from Bianca and her friends. "Really?" Being a Prefect had to be cool in its own sort of way. "I feel like I'm annoying you with my 'really's' and 'why's'" She muttered, forcing a quiet laugh. "But...Why? Surely the advantages outweigh the disadvantages." It was funny though. Because if Zen had some way of changing time herself, she'd shake her past self into a phase of undying confidence. Maybe then she would've avoided being bullied.

10.XX.2024 Lance responded with his own short laugh as Zen said she would keep his secret about Georgie. Knowing his sister, she already knew he had said that about her. The girl had an innate ability to always know what he was up to. He’d call it a sixth sense, but she was already a clairvoyant. Maybe that was something that came along with the power. He would never understand those sorts of things since he was so average. Average across the boards with grades. Has a solid group of friends to hang out and study together with, and even managed to find some semblance of a romantic relationship. Secrets weren’t his thing, but this one was now it seemed. “Thanks. I think y’all would get along swimmingly.” Despite being a bubble ready to pop at any second, she was still good with the younger, meeker kids back at the orphanage, and Zen sort of reflected similar traits to them. He wouldn’t be able to tell without them meeting though.
Her surprise at there being werewolf students had him nodding his head. “We do,” he echoed. “There used to be a few more, but they graduated last year. I think the only ones left are-” he flipped his fingers out to count, ending up with only two. “Yeah, only two of them right now. Both in Gryffindor.” Over the last month, he had come to the conclusion that Ilvermorny and Hogwarts hadn’t told the transfer students anything about the student body. They were always surprised to hear about the subjects being taught, that the school employed house elves for cooking and cleaning, and that the forest wasn’t as dark as everyone made it out to be. Omitting the fact that there were a couple of werewolves hanging out and going to school there was probably one of the things that was important to know. Apparently the schools thought otherwise.
“I don’t think having to do paperwork for every write-up outweighs anything. Or having to do night patrols a few times a week,” he answered. In his opinion, the Prefect spot was only in place for the overachievers and suck-ups. He was neither, and some of his fellow Prefects embraced the role fully. “The bathroom is nice, I’ll give you that. A little too extravagant for my tastes, but it’s a nice change of pace.” Lance realized he had only answered the second half of her question, and that the initial one was still looming overhead. Why? Why would he not take the position if given the chance again? Because it drained his energy and was boring, that was why. “I think having a kid be responsible over other kids is silly. I’ve spent my whole life doing that, and I sort of lost the heart to do it anymore.”

ZENEVIEVA HAD ALWAYS wondered what life would have been like with a sibling of her own. A younger brother or sister or even a twin of her own. Another half-vampire to deal with. Surely Father would’ve went crazy. Lance and his sister seemed to be a compatible duo, perhaps with minor feuds but Zen couldn’t really assume much, she had only met the Prefect. But even creating a sudden secret with him as just as nice. ”Maybe.” She tried to agree, if only she could figure out which one of the many blondes his sister was. ”Maybe I’ll even try to find her in the halls, if I had the sudden urge of confidence.” She tried to joke, her hand raising to ruffle at her hair. If there was some potential that Zen could gain more friends she knew she wouldn’t…Take the opportunity, but it would have been nice. Only two left? She thought, sure there had to be more demi-humans around. ”Gryffindor or Slytherin tend to have the…unique kinds of people.” She murmured, thinking of who else had some kind of special ability. Zen herself was a half-vampire, and being a Ilvermorny transfer, she hadn’t met many other demi-humans, from her time in Ilvermorny to her time in Hogwarts, though she hoped that would eventually change. Werewolves were creatures Mother had advised Zen to stay away from, as their aggressiveness showed more closer to the full-moons, but Zen just wanted to be…somebodies friend.
Zenevieva couldn’t imagine the responsibility Lance had to face, but the thought of writing up paperwork sounded rather…Exciting. Papers, essays, novels and anything intellectual were Zen’s favourite thing to look forward to, especially receiving homework from each class. It was strange but it kept the Novell in order. ”Night patrols?” She repeated. It sounded simple but horrible, giving up a few hours of your sleep just to ensure that other students weren’t breaking the rules. It was similar to what some students did back in Ilvermorny. Though Zen followed the line of a perfect example of a student, never really breaking the rules as of such. ”Something like that can’t be too…extravagant. Your own personal bathroom must be a nice place to hide in.” The last of her statement was quiet, like a murmur. If Zen had a her own bathroom to hide in, maybe Bianca would’ve given up so many years ago.
”Can’t you simply give it up?” She questioned, if Prefect was this draining, surely each Prefect…had the choice to stop? Give the power over to someone else, at least that’s what Zen wanted to believe.

10.XX.2024 The way Zen talked about her confidence, or lack thereof, was astounding. She had the confidence to talk about her negative aspects but didn’t seem to be able to turn her own pep-talk into a positive reinforcement. Lance had seen it before, in his own house actually, so it wasn’t a surprise that there was an American equivalent. “It’s totally fine if you don’t. I’ll warn her just in case so she doesn’t freak out if you don’t talk fast enough for her. She does that sometimes…” Oh Georgie, with her powerful aura and tiny person. Lance chuckled at the image that popped into his head, of his sister talking up at the poor girl walking next to him. There was no mistaking her for anything but an American.
Lance had no idea if Gryffindor or Slytherin had more ‘unique’ characters than the other two houses. Gryffindor did have the two remaining werewolves, yes, but he didn’t think there was anyone of special interest in Slytherin, aside from Katherine (and that was more of a personal interest to him than what Zen was talking about). “One of those graduated werewolves was in Hufflepuff,” he offered her. “I don’t know many people in Ravenclaw so I can’t speak for your house. But y’all are pretty smart, so that makes up for it.” Lance shrugged, unsure of how he could continue that line of thought. The Sorting Hat knew what it was doing, and he always assumed that it sort of balanced the houses out to make up where some lacked. Like how not all Hufflepuffs were sociable or all Slytherins, jerks. Stuff like that. At one point he didn’t even buy into the theory but it seemed to be right more often than not.
“Yeah, night patrols,” Lance said once again, sighing at the thought of the ones he had this week. “But it kind of is. At least compared to the orphanage and the rest of the Hogwarts bathrooms, it is.” But a private bathroom was a private bathroom, and the Prefect one was definitely excessive. The fact that the tub, if you could call it that, had an infinite number of soaps and bubble bath ingredients still blew his mind, now a month into his term as a Prefect. “Sure, I could give it up. But I’m not going to leave any sort of impact on the school if I do. Lance Linley would be forgotten in a couple years, an uninspirin’ southern boy. If I stay on, maybe a younger student will learn from me and do something even greater once they become a Prefect or Head Boy or Girl. You never know.”

TALKING HAD ALWAYS BEEN Zenevieva’s downfall. She wasn’t the best talker, or even a good friend, but she was great at listening, reading or avoiding all types of situations. She felt appreciation at the Hufflepuff’s next statement, telling her he would warn his sister. She forced a smile then, especially since because of her stutter, it sometimes took Zen forever just to say a few words. ”She s-sounds fun…” She mumbled in a joke. Eventually she’d meet his younger sister, and experience her…loudness for herself. Of course she wouldn’t be too fond of the girl at first, especially since that’s how the Ravenclaw was with most loud people, awkward and lacked speech, but the Novell believed she’d come around. The same way she had done for Kaylee and Ellie.
Zen listened in, knowing somewhere along the line when she had started her sixth year in Hogwarts, she had read about the graduates for the previous year. Those who were demi-human stood out amongst the rest, but there were more in Hogwarts than Zen remembered seeing elsewhere. Ravenclaw had taken a special place in the Novell’s heart. especially since the people scattered within it reminded her of Horned Serpent. The friends she made almost all seemed to have the same interests in the half-vampire, like Toby, who loved books just as much as she did. ”I g-guess you could say w-we all just love b-books.” She responded, attempting a joke. Though the Sorting Hat had been ridding thee stereotypes the houses once had, considering Kaylee was in Slytherin and she was nowhere near mean.
”T-That must be t-tiring.” Zen was up most nights reading a book, but that was because vampires were simply nocturnal. She couldn’t imagine a regular Wizard or Witch spending their day in classes only to know they have to stay up all night as well. Maybe if more half-vampires entered Hogwarts, they could form a club, taking over one part of the Prefect’s roles. She understood his reasoning for staying on, to make a name for himself in a school that was so large. ”Y-You’ve already i-inspired me…If that h-helps.” He had offered to help, like any other Prefect would do but he had opened up to her. She was sure no other Prefect or general person would do that with a stranger. ”M-Maybe you could t-teach me…” The thought of being a Prefect or even Head Girl didn’t sound too bad.
