EDRIK COULDN’T IMAGINE the pressure Victoire felt by being a Slytherin in a large family filled with Gryffindor’s. Like the Krums, there were things that was expected of a Weasley and seemingly enough, not being housed in Slytherin was near the top of the list. ”I can imagine the look on your parents and even relatives faces when they found out.” It was rather surprising though, to hear three other Weasley’s had been housed in Slytherin and if the ancestors were aware they were probably turning in their grave. ”I’m glad you take it with pride. Most don’t.”
Raising a brow at her response, Edrik knew the Weasley had some point. If Quidditch wasn't his main goal in life, an Auror would've been next in line, but with the rules that they follow and how strict it seemed to be, the Krum chose against it. That and he was offered the potential to become Quidditch famous. Well. One day. "Rule follower turned rogue. I like it." He grinned, simply teasing her.
"Weren't you tempted though? To use magic amongst those you loved and such when you knew you couldn't?" If he had been powerless and surrounded himself by those who had power...It would have angered the Krum, it would have definitely pushed him in the direction he had hoped to avoid. As she took the flowers, he nodded with a smile. "The flowers are also my apology for not being the best kind of friend. Since I had...no clue this happened." He frowned for a brief moment, until the topic changed. "I have!" He announced, forcing a cheerful smile. "Who knew spending a couple of months in Bulgaria to train would guarantee me a place or more so a transfer in Appleby Arrows?"

He said he could imagine the look on her families faces when they found out and she chuckled a little. He said that he was glad she took it with pride when most didn't. "I suppose your dad's side is dissappointed you didn't attend Durmstrang school? I find switching families schools is probably a little easier than the house thing - since that's more of a choice than what's in your true nature," she contemplated. Though, it was known that the hat took your preference into consideration. There was even a theory that the only ones placed in Gryffindors were the ones who were brave enough to be asked to be put there.
She had asked not to be.
He commented on the fact that she was a rule follower turned 'rogue', saying he liked it. She smiled back, "it's certainly not what I expected out of my life, but I think I've made a good call," she mused.
He asked if she was tempted to use magic around others who were. She shook her head, "well... one thing that helped was I only let one person visit me that whole time..." she admitted. This was something her family was not pleased about. "And he tried not to use it around me," she shrugged, "so I suppose it could have been much worse," or much better, if she'd just let her family support her.
He said the flowers were also his apology for not being a good friend, since he had no idea this happened, "it's okay," she said softly, "a lot of people don't." She had tried to keep it quiet.
In terms of his career, he said he was happy and that he had gotten the transfer after being in Bulgaria. She smiled, "whatever's meant to happen will happen, right? I'm sure a lot of peopel are glad at you being here instead of there."

DURMSTRANG WAS THE school Edrik hoped to attend when he was the young age of ten, but the Krum’s mother was the reason he didn’t. She had convinced his father so long ago that their starting family should move to England, for new sceneries and to extend their legacy elsewhere. He didn’t really complain, considering the stories he once heard of Hogwarts but Bulgaria would always be his true home. ”Back then I was a pool of tears. My younger sisters were worse, they loved the cottage.” He smiled, reminiscing. ”But now that I’m here, living here, schooled and done everything here…I’m comfortable.” Being back in Bulgaria almost a year ago for his Quidditch dream brought back childhood memories, ones he cherished entirely.
”I mean you’re still here. Alive and finally well.” He said, nudging her arm lightly. Only one person to visit her? He couldn’t imagine a life so cruel. ”Only one?” He parroted in question. ”Why? Didn’t you trust your family enough to not go against your wishes? Tempt you into magic?” That could only be the plausible reason. Edrik still felt guilt considering how long the two were separated for.
His career was one thing the Krum looked forward to the more he aged. Now, just at nineteen, he believed to be doing well. Especially being transferred from one country to another and back again. ”I know my family are. But the few people I wish that would also be happy…Don’t know yet. At least I believe so.”

Edrik said he was a pool of tears, but that his sisters were worse. He was comfortable, he said, and she almost commented that that wasn't the same thing as being happy... but she didn't think that was her place. "That's better than being miserable," she decided on. That was an innocent enough way of saying it without pressing anything. He said that she was alive and well, still here, nudging her arm. She nodded, "yeah, I just think it's easier to avoid... people when I'm in a place of weakness. I'm very weak, people don't know that," she smiled as if joking, but it really was a fairly true statement. She wasn't sure how he would take the confession. He said his family was happy but that there were others he didn't know about. She raised an eyebrow, "well... they'll come around, if they aren't," she suggested. @edrik

BEING MISERABLE WAS ONE THING Edrik had gone through and gotten over with. It was difficult within his first few months in Bulgaria, especially since the girl you liked fell off the face of the Earth, listening to the stubbornness within her and refusing to send simple Owls back. He nodded in agreement though, grateful she hadn’t exactly pressed on his situation. He felt bad enough, questioning her on the difficulties she had faced as of recent. ”True.”
Edrik shook his head in disagreement. ”Weak? You’re clearly the strongest person I know.” Strong-willed while resisting the temptation to actually use magic, the Krum could never look up to anyone else. ”You had magic all around you, even had loved ones visiting to check on you, possibly using magic and you…still didn’t fall into temptation. You’re strong Vic.” It was a compliment at best, one that Edrik felt truthful and sincere enough to say.
The rest of the afternoon between the two of them was spent over coffee, sharing the secrets, the histories and the current events the two had missed since the end of their friendship so early into their academic lives. Edrik felt bad for doing so, an apology being said every five minutes or so, but he knew she would forgive her. After all, the drought was the very worst for just a small amount of time.
