NATURALLY SARI WAS FILLED WITH confusion at the mistake, but after all, humans made mistakes. It was naturally who they were. In the eyes of her father however, the last name was always more important than the first, especially as a pureblood family, it was important to maintain a good status for the Fawley’s. But considering how many there were of them, with three different women, it was enough to give the family a starting building block, a wedge for the source of their problems. Sari stood out amongst her siblings though, considering she was one of the few who were still in Hogwarts, driving the Fawley name a little further. Though, all in all, she couldn’t blame the other Hufflepuff, especially since, what kind of name was Sari?
Picking away at her food as Maddie spoke, she couldn’t help but snort at the reference to the Krums. ”You mean Krum. No C or B.” She laughed, placing down her food once more. ”Yeah! Helena!” She added at the girl’s question. ”Helena is the baby of the family. She’s the other girl we room with.” Tallish, brunette, all descriptive things Sari didn’t bother to include. The Krums seemed to be a nice Pureblood family, from the times Sari had been over in their home anyway. But she did remember the times the male of the family would be yelling at another female, a typical scenario Sari would find in her own home. ”She’s got two older sister’s and a brother. I hear he plays Quidditch professionally now.”

@sari 09.20.2024 Krum, Crumb; they were both strange names, just like Sari was. Maddie didn’t feel like jumping into the logistics of why she did or didn’t understand that one because she was sure she would be met with more skeptical looks from her new roommate. Everyone back at Beauxbatons had normal, French names. Even the ones like her that weren’t one-hundred percent French. At least the bread crumb girl’s first name was a normal one. Helena was easy and transferable across all sorts of languages. Unlike Sari.
“She’s one of them too?” Maddie asked, a little shocked that she had forgotten another one of her roommates’ names. In her defense, they sort of all blended in together until she started figuring out their names. “Now I feel even worse for not remembering either of you,” she lied, putting on a fake frown as she started to gather more food on her plate. “I know there are those triplets as well and the American girl…I’m not missing any am I?” For some reason more than half of the girls in her dorm were blonde too, no help from the almost identical triplets that inhabited the room as well. Those three would be the trickiest because Maddie was almost positive their names all sounded the same.
Sari went on to explain that Helena had older siblings, and Maddie figured that one of them was the one Émile had spent the entirety of the previous year whining about in his letters. It wouldn’t have been the older brother, because a professional Quidditch player would have won him over in a second flat. Her brother had lived for competition, and the letters would be in a different tone if he was constantly challenging a soon to be pro. “That’s such a large family. I’d hate to have that much competition once my parents die and their wills go out.” She didn’t really have to worry about that anymore, now that Émile was dead. The entirety of the Chevalier hotel fortune belonged to her. Splitting it wouldn’t have been all that bad if it meant he was still alive though.

NATURALLY SARI HAD NO SAY in who had odd names and who didn’t. Considering for Merlin’s sake, who on Earth, or any kind of solar system would name their child Sari? And to add on from there, who would accompany such an odd name with the middle name Lavanda? If Sari was actually bothered, eventually the blonde would have changed her name, but names were what made people unique. And Sari Lavanda Fawley was sure she wouldn’t meet anyone with her exact full name anytime soon. ”She’s one of them.” Sari parroted as she confirmed. Helena did share a room with them after all. As Maddie spoke up again, Sari’s eyes lifted, looking at her facial expression and noting how it looked exactly the same moments ago. ”No you don’t.” She grinned, also noting Maddie seemed to be a perfectly capable liar. A useful skill to have. At the mention of the triplets, the Fawley’s brows furrowed until it clicked, like a light setting off in her mind. ”The Bainbridges! That family truly is an odd bunch.”
The American girl could have referred to anyone considering the heaps of transfers the school had in the past year but Sari knew she would eventually work it out. She felt the need to laugh at her observation of Helena’s ‘large’ family. If Helena’s was large, Sari’s was probably a whole village. ”That’s not large at all. I have eight siblings. Seven sisters and one brother.” And her brother was the baby out of the large Fawley bunch.
