October 22 2024
Lucy Weasley got off of work late just about every night. Currently, besides her backdoor job as an escort, she worked as a scare actor in a muggle haunted house in the city of London for the Halloween Season. It was her calling entirely. Scaring muggles out of their minds for fun and for money. She loved it. The ironic thing was, she was playing a wicked witch in a swamp scene that was supposed to be eating children. Lucy smirked when she got the document explaining her casting. How perfect, she couldn’t have influenced it better if she tried.
So, it was because of her job that she got off late. The pubs were normally pretty empty when she strutted in after her shift. She rarely just went home. She liked to make the most of the night, especially since she could just sleep all day. She walked into the Leaky cauldron nearing 1 in the morning and sat at the bar where she ordered a drink. She wasn’t sure if she was entirely in the mood to be social. But, besides her sister and the muggles she worked with, the only people she talked to anymore were strangers she met at pubs.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WON'T LET YOU FADE INTO DARKNESS [attr="class","next"] OCTOBER 22, 2024 As the time neared one in the morning, Rhea gathered her things from her hiding spot in a locker, grasping her purse and some other items that were inside. She was tired, the bags under her eyes revealing as such. She had offered to cover a shift for someone that had gotten sick and had even done her rounds in helping those in pain by grasping their hands. Many old people welcomed her visit as they were growing closer to death. She had watched one die today as well, an older woman with whom she had visited quite frequently in the past few months. She had sat alone with her for some time, listening to stories of her childhood and her children who rarely seemed to visit. And then she grasped her hand; Rhea sucked in a breath as the pain slowly filled her, she felt like she was starving, felt like something was gripping at her heart – and then the woman flatlined. They rushed in and tried to bring her back, but she was gone – time of death, 12:30 am. Rhea had been so upset but glad that her time at the hospital was over for the night, she needed a drink and a nice hot meal. Maybe that was how she found herself heading for the Leaky Cauldron, a place she frequented late at night when she got off and many other places were closed. They had the best butterbeer and food, something that she wanted right now. The moment she walked in, she headed for the bar and sat down on a stool next to a younger female with ginger hair. The bartender, someone that she recognized, greeted her and placed a coaster down on the wooden bar and asked her if she wanted the usual, she smiled and agreed. She so did not feel like talking at the moment, but she wouldn’t mind it at the same time.

Lucy glanced at the woman as she sat besides her at the bar, but she didn’t say anything. Why would she? Lucy wasn’t someone who went out of her way to make conversation or to make new friends. Unless, the person in question was attractive and a target of her desires, however, this wasn’t that case. So she didn’t say anything, instead, she continued to sit, nursing her drink and glancing around the bar as she previously had been doing, scanning the crowd for any action. Shortly after, she finished her drink and slid it across the bartender for a refill. The bartender knew her game, Lucy came here every so often, it was a bit closer to her house than club indigo, and she wasn’t going to be caught in any muggle bar when she wasn’t being paid to be there. After taking the second drink back and giving a smirk of thanks to the man behind the counter, Lucy turned her back to the bar and leaned back on her elbows against the bar, getting a better look at the remaining crowd. When the woman's food came, Lucy cocked her head a little. “What is that?” she asked casually. She wasn’t sure she had ordered food here before.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WON'T LET YOU FADE INTO DARKNESS [attr="class","next"] Rhea was glad that no conversation was started between herself and the young woman, but the woman did seem to move around just a bit as she nursed her drink. Rhea didn’t care though, seeing as her beverage appeared before her and she did just the same. Alcohol was just what the doctor ordered; the first sip felt good burning down her throat. The bar was somewhat silent, even with buzzes of conversations being heard here and there, and it wasn’t long before her food appeared. A specialty chicken sandwich and pea soup, a meal that she enjoyed quite a lot. The first time she had ordered the soup, she had been warned that it could try to eat her, but it hadn’t yet—she was too good for it. just as she went to take a bite of the sandwich, after thanking the bartender, an unfamiliar female voice came from the direction the woman had been sitting. She had already started to chew, quickly covering her mouth and swallowing as she directed her attention towards the ginger, “Chicken sandwich and the pea soup,” she answered, hoping that her thick accent and somewhat full mouth didn’t make it hard for the woman to understand her. With a now empty mouth, she quickly took a sip of her drink to wash it down her throat. She hadn’t expected the girl to speak when she had taken a bite, and she wondered if she would continue the conversation. “It’s quite good for a pub type setting,”

Lucy gave a nod of understanding when the woman next to her told her what it was that she ordered. She hadn’t been feeling particularly hungry when she first walked into the bar, but now she kind of was. Especially after looking at the food of her neighbor. “It looks fairly good, actually. I can’t say I’ve ever ordered food from here.” she admitted. She ate out almost every day, she wasn’t really one to cook, but she didn’t usually get bar food, she tried to treat herself a little better than that. And it wasn’t like she was strapped for cash, but, it was hard to show how much money she had when everyone around her just thought that she was an actress. Acting didn’t make as much money as she made. “Could I get what she ordered?” she asked the barmaid.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WON'T LET YOU FADE INTO DARKNESS [attr="class","next"] The woman seemed to agree that her food did look good and admitted to never really ordering food from the establishment. Rhea wasn’t surprised, she had only done it a few times when she first started at St. Mungo’s and had worked late and didn’t feel like cooking, the pub was always open, and sometimes she needed a drink and was famished. She didn’t do it often, but after the week she had, and the day from hell, she felt the need for a drink and a delicious sandwich. “Yeah—I don’t think many people have. It’s just easier sometimes when you need a drink, it’s not as good as a restaurant or some take-out places around here, but it fills the stomach,” she said with a soft laugh. Her sentence finished just as the woman asked the barmaid for the same thing, allowing the woman to smile, nod and go back to put in her order.

Lucy Weasley hadn’t realized how hungry she was until she saw the food come out. She was really good at ignoring the feeling of hunger. Not that she did so on purpose, but it usually came at inopportune moments, like when she was on stage in rehearsal or on a date with a client. In a desperate need to control her bodily functions, she started to ignore it. She couldn’t actually remember when the last time she ate today was, maybe she had grabbed a banana on her way out of the house before rehearsal this morning. “Well food doesn’t always have to be 5 star quality for it to do its job.” Lucy wasn’t really a foodie, she wasn’t picky and didn’t care too much about taste or flavor as long as it didn’t make her sick. Soon she was brought out the same thing that the girl beside her had ordered and it smelt just as good as it had looked when it had come out the first time.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] WON'T LET YOU FADE INTO DARKNESS [attr="class","next"] ‘Well food doesn’t always have to be a 5 star quality for it to do its job.’ Rhea had to agree, for the most part, because anything was better than hospital food—which wasn’t five stars. Some hospitals had great food, amazing even, and sometimes you had a day where the food was the worst thing on the planet. Back in Athens, the hospital's food had always been the worse, but when she came to work for St. Mungo’s—they had their off days here and there. “Unless it’s hospital food…cause sometimes even just looking at it is bad quality,” she said with a soft smile on her face, bringing her drink to her lips and taking a sip.

Lucy laughed at her comment about hospital food. “Well I can’t speak from experience, but I bet you’re right.” she nodded. Lucy Weasley had never ended up in the hospital. She had been in the hospital wing at Hogwarts a few times for various ailments and injuries, but she never had to stay there overnight and was always able to eat her meals in the great hall. But she had to imagine that the food in the hospital wing, if she needed to stay in the hospital wing during a meal, the food served there would be the same served in the great hall, which was always of a good quality. Lucy took a bite of her meal, not realizing how hungry she was until the food hit her mouth. She couldn’t remember the last thing she had eaten today, to be fair. She had been a little too busy with rehearsal and then clients to keep herself well fed.
