Joe grinned when Kinsey said that the bat already felt better in her grip. "Nice, now lets see if that helps with your aim at all." he encouraged her in a friendly tone, green eyes taking her in. He was glad that she was up for the idea. Kinsey was surprising him with how brave she was. It was nice to tear her away from the books for once.Adjusting his grip on the broom, Joe hovered so that he was side by side with Kinsey. It would be easier to keep her safe that way. Turning to Kinsey to see if she was ready, the serious look on her face determined yes. "Alohamora" Joe flicked and swished his wand at the chest, the bludgers broke free, shooting into the sky like maroon rockets. "Good luck." he sang, leaning in toward Kinsey and pressing his lips against her cheek, pulling away with a grin. As he pulled away, he could hear the bludger coming right toward them, he raised his bat and effortlessly swung at the bludger, quite comically, because he barely even having to look at it. He sent it to the opposite side of the pitch for a matter of seconds, buying them a moment. "Opps, sorry, stole that one.." Joe said casually, more playful than anything. Whether he meant he 'stole' the kiss on the cheek, or the first hit to the bludger, was a mystery. Probably both to be honest.@kinsey

Kinsey nodded, determined when Joe said that they would see if his way to hold the bat helped with her aim. She wouldn't be surprised if it didn't, but she was still willing to try. She wanted to enjoy this time on a broom, and trying something she normally didn't do sounded like fun. She was excited to go for it.
She hardly noticed when Joe flew so he was beside her. It made sense. He told her he was going to protect her. He couldn't do that from far away, so she really wasn't surprised when he came near. She was too focused on the balls that were about to attack the two of them. She watched carefully when he unlocked the crate and they flew high up in the air. Then she felt Joe's breath on her cheek before he kissed her. Granted, it was only a kiss on the cheek, but Kinsey turned bright red. "What was that? Are you trying to distract me?!" she demanded, staring at Joe in surprise. Though she shouldn't have been surprised. He'd teased her about kissing before, he'd just never gone for it. She heard a bludger and spun around, swinging the bat wildly and blinking in surprise when the bat connected with it and it shot off in a different direction. "Did you see that?" she squealed, forgetting what just happened a moment before and grinning over at Joe. She actually hit the bludger!

Joe was expecting Kinsey to get all red and awkward when he kissed her on the cheek, but she seemed to handle it alright. The second bludger came flying at them, and she swung at the ball with a hidden force. Joe eyes flickered with amusement, offering her a round of applause, "Looks like it worked!" Joe exclaimed with a wide eyed grin, very impressed. His mouth gaped open, swinging the bat in the air, "Now imagine what a real kiss would do!" Joe told her, waggling his eyes brows animatedly, more for the sake of a laugh. He enjoyed saying inappropriate things to make her awkward, she always got so red and cute. Another bludger came flying their way, Joe smacked it with a back hand, showing off, "That was really good, Kinsey!" Joe exclaimed, proud of her quick victory. She was already better with a bat than she gave herself credit for. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0 [googlefont=Alegreya Sans SC:400]
Earlier today in Arithmancy, Kinsey had agreed to meet Joe to mess around on the pitch for a bit once classes were done for the day. They had talked about it on and off for the past couple of weeks, and today was finally the day. Anytime Joe had the opportunity to get on the pitch, he was there. Physical activity and fresh air had always been a great release for him, other than cooking, but quidditch was the passion that he shared with others. He was a bit cocky when it came to games and sports in general, but today, he was just looking to have a good time playing with Kinsey. Since she was typically a meek and shy girl, he knew better than to go in too strongly, not that he was going to 'go easy' on her, since she admitted that her brother was a quidditch star. Recently, he had learned a lot more about her on an emotional level, which had started to form a stronger bond. As much as he enjoyed teasing the adorable Ravenclaw girl, Joe found Kinsey extremely endearing and sweet, sometimes it was hard resisting kissing her. But he knew she was complicated right now, so whatever was going on in the moment would suffice. As Joe approached the pitch with his broom strapped over his shoulder, he could see Kinsey standing at the pathway leading to the pitch, her typical awkward but cute demeanor while standing in her lonesome. The distance quickly closed between them and stood in front of the girl with a smile. "Hey, cutie" he greeted chipperly, offering her a quick embrace, before pulling away and asking with curious green eyes, "You still game?"MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0 [googlefont=Alegreya Sans SC:400]

Kinsey's mouth fell open and she stared at Joe when he clapped for her, saying that it worked. What "it" was he talking about? Distracting her? Or the kiss? Though in all actuality those were one and the same, since his kiss distracted her. She laughed when he continued to tease her, but it was shaky and nervous. Her face was burning and Kinsey was feeling a mix of pride an embarrassment. Interesting combination. She shook her head. "N-no, I was gonna do that b-before," she stammered, not looking at Joe. She thought it was true, at least. She'd been planning on going for that bludger.
He hit the next bludger away, complimenting her on how she'd hit the previous one. She nodded, smiling a little as the blush started to wear off. "Thanks." She heard the other bludger coming from another side and turned to face it. She swung the bat, but the ball moved at the last second and got past her defenses. She screamed and close her eyes, waiting for the impact.

Within the blink of an eye, the bludger was hurding toward them dangerously fast. At first, Joe left the floor open for Kinsey to hit it, but a moment later she was ducking away and cowering away from the bludger. Joe swiftly moved in front of her, pushing her slightly to get a better aim at the bludger. He swung at it hard, making a loud cracking sound when it hit the bat. "I told you I got ya." he told her dryly with a soft smile. His green eyes narrowed down on her, "You okay, Kinsey?" Joe asked her quickly. Actually feeling kind of bad now. "I'm sorry, that was kind of my fault." he quickly owned up to it, knowing that he was probably distracting her too much. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0 [googlefont=Alegreya Sans SC:400]

Kinsey felt herself being pushed to the side a little and opened her eyes in time to see that Joe was whacking the bludger far away. She sighed, suddenly relieved that she wasn't alone up here with the bludgers. Not that she would ever put herself in that sort of a situation, but still the relief was there. She smiled back at Joe when he turned to face her. "Thanks," she muttered, her gratitude taking precedence over her embarrassment. Actually, for once she didn't feel embarrassed right now. She shrugged, "I'm okay. Sorry, that one just took my by surprise and I lost it." Kinsey laughed a little at herself. "Sorry." She shook her head fiercely when he said it was your fault. "No! That's not your fault at all! I just got all nervous." Sure, part of the nervousness was because of him kissing her cheek and teasing her, but she wasn't about to admit it. "I ... do think maybe I should take a break though. Try this again another time?" She hoped that Joe wouldn't think she was a complete wimp, but that last bludger kind of freaked her out. She didn't really want to try any more.

Wow, that was a close one, and Kinsey knew it! Joe wasn’t really shooken up by the situation because he was used to bludgers flying at him in all directions, but for someone who wasn’t a trained beater, that could be very scary! Kinsey asking for a break after that should have been expected. Joe wasn’t disappointed about having to put the bludgers away in the slightest, he was honestly just happy that she came out on the pitch with him today. It was nice hanging out with Kinsey and getting out in the sunshine and fresh air, instead of being stuck behind dusty books and mountains of school work.
Joe pointed his wand at the bludgers, swished and flicked, and they plopped themselves back into the trunk with a thud. Joe waved a hand in the air at Kinsey, ”Don’t worry about it, thanks for playing with me.” Joe told her, trying to keep the easy going tone in his voice. He didn’t want her to think that he was upset about putting the bludgers away, because it really matter to him. ”Good game, Kinsey” he offered her a fist bump before hopping into the pitchs fluffy grass.

Joe didn't hesitate when Kinsey said that she was done playing with the bludgers. He used his want to put them away and close the trunk and told her not to worry about it. Kinsey smiled, a little shakily, but a smile all the same. "Thank you," she echoed sincerely. "It's been a while since I've gotten on a broom. I missed it." She liked that Joe was inviting her to do things she enjoyed, that he listened when she mentioned liking flying. She chuckled, fist bumping him before landing her broom. "Wanna head back with me?" Kinsey asked, the chilly air getting to her. "We could go down to the kitchens for a snack." The two of them headed back to the castle, Kinsey feeling much lighter from the encounter. It was fun and Joe was definitely nice to her. Nicer than he needed to be, but she appreciated it. --- the end --- @joseph
