The question he asked was a semi complicated one for her. The answer was fairly simple, but the reasoning behind it was a little hard to explain. Thankfully, it wasn’t all that hard to explain to him. He knew her, well, he knew her better than her family did, at least. He knew who she actually was, and not just who she wanted people to see her as. “I act everyday anyway, I figured I should try to make some money off of it.” she said with a smirk. “It’s worked out fairly well for me this far.” she shrugged. It was true, most of her money came from her escorting gigs, but, at least she was starting to make a name for herself, even if it was in the muggle world. Soon enough, she’d have a name for herself in the wizarding world too. One that meant more than that she was descended from blood traitors. “Do you know what you’re going to do when you finish school yet?” she asked. She wasn’t sure why she asked, she normally wasn’t super into small talk, but this boy interested her. She wasn’t sure why he was even in school anymore, wasn’t he married?

She answered, saying that she 'acted' daily so she may as well make money. He smiled at that, that was pretty funny. She said it had worked out well for her so far and he nodded in acknowledgement, "well, that's awesome. I hear it's a hard industry - I'm not surprised you can do it, though. Obviously you're very talented," he was surprised at how confidently he was complimenting her. River was usually the type to freeze up around beautiful women. She asked what he was going to do and he nodded, "sort of. I'm planning on working for the Ministry - just haven't settled on which departments I'll apply for," he explained. "I'm pretty good at memory spells," very good, but that wasn't important to clarify, "so I'm thinking the Obliviation department. I know, I know. Cliche - a pureblood male heir working at the Ministry..." he shrugged, "even got the beautiful wife and a loveless marriage to complete the picture. Vi, you know," Viovinnia Nott was a Purifier and Lucy would probably have seen her around. He didn't say that last part like he was sad, though, just amused. He was sad, of course, but he still was a slave to his duty. "Maybe I should become a thestral tamer just to throw things off."@lucyweasley

Lucy, never one to be humble, loved to hear the compliments fly from his mouth. She couldn’t say that he was wrong. She was very talented, and, she only had to use charms to get her way into a show a few times, and only at the beginning. A little love potion never hurt anyone, now, did it? Her question to him seemed to require a bit of thought, but not too much, he answered her and she listened, a little smirk on her face as he told her that he wanted to work for the ministry. Surprise Surprise. Ministry or Healer, those were the options for someone like him, she figured. He admitted too that he understood the cliche of his words and his choices, but she understood the reason for the choices. When he brought up his wife and their loveless marriage, which he seemed to do with a bit of humor, Lucy couldn’t help but feel a bit of pity for him, regardless. She wasn’t sure that she ever wanted to get married, she wasn’t sure that she would be great at commitment, or not killing her husband. But, if she did get married, she thought, there’d have to be a good reason. Love might be that reason, but, more likely, it’d be power. “How’s that going?” she asked, in reference to his marriage with the fellow purifier girl.

She asked how it was going after he mentioned Vi and he shrugged, "could be worse," he said. And it really could. There were a lot of people in way worse situations Vi wasn't trying to slowly poison him or anything. Well... not that he knew of. Maybe that did happen. He found himself looking down at his drink, even though Vi wasn't even here. He looked back up at Lucy, "what about you? You're all adult and out and about. Anything like that?" anything like, romantic. @lucyweasley

He suggested that married life could be worse and Lucy shrugged along with her nod. To her, being married to someone seemed like the worst sort of torture imaginable, however, she supposed it had its reasons, mostly for power and connections like River’s marriage was. “Fair enough.” she added, not really having much else to say about it. When he looked back up at her and turned the question around on her, she scoffed. “No.” she laughed. “I’m not exactly the marrying type. Relationships are usually too more effort than their worth.” she admitted, a sentiment that she was sure he shared, at least a little bit. However, that didn’t mean she had a lack of company. She could be very persuasive. Muggle men were her favorite, since she could easily obliviate them after their encounter and send them on their way.

She said it was fair enough and he left it at that too. She said she wasn't the marrying type and that relationships were usually more effort than they were worth. His brow furrowed a little, but he nodded. "I can agree with that, to some respect," he said, partly challenging but really just being as honest as possible. He leaned forward a little, pulling his envelope into his lap so it was hidden under the table. "I mean, I find that it's nice to have some connection at least," not that he had a lot of experience with physical connection. Sure there was... that was a complicated topic for River Flint. @lucyweasley

“There definitely are some merits to relationships,” Lucy loved physical intimacy, however, it was the emotional, vulnerable stuff that scared her out of wanting to get involved or attached to anyone. How could anyone let someone get that close? Lucy didn’t even let her sister, with whom she had shared a womb, get that close to her. Honestly, as close and Anna and Lucy were, in certain ways, River, whom she had rarely ever talked to, knew Lucy better than Anna did. She didn't want to admit, however, that she had stayed away from relationships for all of these years out of fear. Lucy wasn’t afraid of anything...right? Maybe she wasn’t quite ready to admit that to herself yet either. “Anyway, I should get going. Unless you need me to read anything else.” she decided after feeling a little flutter in her chest, whatever she was feeling right now, she needed to swallow down.

She said there was some merits to relationships and he just nodded once. But then she said she had to get going, unless he had something else for her to read and he smiled, a little half grin, and shook his head. "N-no. Not today. But... I'll probably bother you again," he suggested, his chest feeling oddly tight - like he was having difficulty breathing... but he was still breathing just fine. He hadn't felt that since... well, he shook his head. "Anyway, yeah. Talk soon," he nodded to her in parting, and let her head on her way. He hoped to see more of Lucy Weasley... @lucyweasley (the end)
