It was Saturday! While Liam fully enjoyed his Monday to Friday job in the Department of Mysteries, weekends were always a special treat for him. He enjoyed being able to get up when he wanted and do things for himself a bit more than was common. Walking out of Flourish and Blotts, Liam scanned the street in front of him, wondering if he knew anyone that was here. Apparently not. He liked the chance to run into people that he knew, but he was so quiet that there weren't many people he did feel comfortable stopping on the street.
Glancing at his watch, Liam decided he didn't want to go home yet. Instead, he moved to a bench on the side of the street and sat down, opening one of his books. He got several today, a few for research to help him with his job, and two for pleasure. At the moment he was perusing the ones he got for work. They really did seem to have information that would be useful to him, which was a good thing.
However, it was December so it wasn't long before Liam was cold sitting on the bench. He rose to his feet, glancing around the street once more. "Andy?" he said in surprise. His voice wasn't very loud, but she wasn't too far away. Maybe she heard him. He started to make his way over to her either way, pleased that he saw someone he knew.

Andy had just finished a shift helping out at the Leaky Cauldron and was ready to head home to the Winsdor Apartment, but then she heard her name. She turned around, all bundled up from the cold, and saw Liam Flint. Her jaw dropped under her scarf and she reached a hand up to move the scarf out of her way. "Oh my gosh, Liam!" she said, in shock. She knew he was around, obviously, so she wasn't sure why she was so surprised. She ran up to him, which wasn't a very Andy-like thing to do, and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. "How are you? It's so good to see you," she said. She had become a little more affectionate with those she cared about, thanks to Phil, Neville, Hannah, Jamie and Ariande. She pulled back and clasped his forearms tightly on either side. "Come on, it's freezing. Let's get a warm Butterbeer?"@liam

Liam couldn't help but smile when Andy recognized him. He shrugged a little, not really sure if her reaction was a positive one or not, though he couldn't imagine why she'd be upset to see him. They'd always been friends, of a sort. He thought they were, at least. Then again, he wasn't the best when it came to understanding people and relationship and such. She approached him, giving him a hug and Liam froze for a second, entirely surprised. She was hugging him? He didn't want to offend her, so Liam wrapped his arms around her loosely. She asked how he was, saying it was good to see him and Liam smiled, feeling himself relax ever so slightly. "I'm good. Just, uh- saw you and, well, I wanted to say ... hi," his voice trailed off as he spoke and Liam looked away for a second. Why was he so awkward? It was times like this when he hated himself.
She pulled back from the hug, telling him to join her for a Butterbeer and Liam nodded, feeling more relieved now. "Y-yeah, that sounds good," he said, smiling a little now as he followed her into the place. He knew Andy. They were friends! He didn't need to feel so awkward. Just telling himself that didn't really help though. Ridiculously enough.

He said that he was doing good, just saw her and wanted to say hi. He looked away, his voice growing softer for a moment. She knew Liam wasn't a big hugger, she wasn't one either, really, so she felt a little bad for doing it - but she also didn't care because she WAS happy to see him, so she'd let herself off the hook this time. "I'm so glad you did," she said, giving a short nod of approval. He agreed to a butterbeer, nodding and slightly stuttering that he'd join her.
Once they were inside they ordered their drinks and took them back to a table, Andy sitting across from him. "I'm sorry I haven't been in touch that much lately. To be fair, we never really kept touch outside of our homes and school anyway," she chuckled, shaking her head a little. "I'm just glad to see you're doing well. I'm doing well, too. I live with the Winsdor family," she explained. "Not in their castle, though," she added. "No, thank you on that."

Andy said that she was glad he said hi, which was definitely a relief to Liam. He didn't want to bother her or anything; he always considered her a good friend. It wasn't long before they were sitting together, Andy apologizing for not having been in touch with him lately. Liam was already shaking his head, "No, no. You don't have anything to apologize for Andy," he told her, smiling a little in response to her. His eyes widened when she said she was living with the Windsor's. "You're ... why are you living with them?" Liam asked, unable to help himself. Now that he'd been with Andy for a few minutes, he was starting to warm up to her again, to be able to talk to her like he had before. She wasn't as hard to talk to as some people were. He coughed before asking another question. "So, what are you doing, apart from living with the Windsor's? Do you have a job?"

Liam said she didn't have anything to apologize for, then asked why he was living with the Windors. "Susan and I are close, so she offered when... well my home situation got a little confusing," she admitted, shaking her head. "I don't want to bore you with the details of my wretched parents and tragic love life. Trust me," she said, chuckling slightly but feeling a pit at the bottom of her stomach. She missed her family, the Longbottoms, greatly.
She missed Phil.
He asked what she was doing and about her job. "I'm training to be a hit-witch actually. What about you? I'm sure you're doing something super brilliant like being a lawyer or something crazy," she guessed, chuckling a little at that as well. Liam had always been smart, smarter than her. Smarter than most. He was too good for his parents, too. She had always thought that.
She recalled his parents were dead now, too, and her heart sunk. What a world it was.

Liam listened intently as Andy explained that she and Susan were friends and that Susan had offered when things became confusing at home. He frowned a little. "I'm sorry things got confusing," he said, trying to push past the awkwardness. Liam was never good with things like this. He reached out to touch her shoulder, trying to be reassuring. "If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you." Liam could offer that much, at least. Andy was one of the few people who he thought understood him, who he knew from a young age, who had difficulties with her parents like he had with his. He could support her if she needed him.
He smiled when she said that she was training to be a hit-witch. "They train for that? What is training like?" He was actually really curious. Then he shrugged, "I'm working in the Department of Mysteries." That was all he could say about his work, which Liam loved. People couldn't ask him for more details because he wasn't allowed to give them. It was perfect.

He said he was sorry things got confusing and she just waved it off, "don't be," she sighed. She didn't need anyone giving her more condolences than she already had received. He said he was there for her and she nodded smiling, "I won't put you through the torture... but I'll keep it in mind," she promised. And she would, too. Not that she was great at reaching out for help when she needed it. "The same for you," she added, "but I'll warn you. I give terrible advice."
He asked what training was like, on top of revealing his department at the Ministry. "Ooh, no shocker there," she complimented. "Yeah, the government has it's own group of hit-wizards and all. We don't just go around killing people though, but," she paused. "I find people get uncomfortable about it at times, but basically the training is a lot of duel training and learning alternative methods of... taking out a target?" she wasn't sure how to word that.

Andy seemed to be the same as normal, waving off his apology on her behalf and smiling at his offer to help. Liam honestly didn't think she would want to give her reasons for being uncomfortable, but he wanted to make sure she knew he was willing to listen, which actually was a big thing for him. Liam didn't really consider himself the good listening type, even if he was quiet. He'd much rather read a book than listen to people, but there were exceptions and Andy was one of those. He smiled and chuckled when Andy repeated his offer, giving warning of her bad advice. "I'll keep that in mind, but I think I'm good for now," he answered.
Liam shrugged. He knew it wasn't a surprise to anyone that knew him that he was working in the Department of Mysteries. It was where he always wanted to end up, partially because he knew he wouldn't have to explain to people what he did. All he needed to do was say the name and people wouldn't bug him about it. He listened as she explained more about her training, not quite knowing how to word it. Liam wouldn't know how to explain it either. "Do you like it?" He asked. That was the most important thing about jobs, right? Enjoying yourself and increasing your knowledge, that's what Liam thought was important.

Liam said that he was good for now and that was that. It was easy to talk to Liam, or just hang out and not talk. They both kept to themselves most of the time and did things their own way. They both were incredibly dedicated to the people they loved, maybe even too much so at some times. They grew up in similar families. She knew what a topic was done for in conversation.
He asked if she liked work and she nodded, "I really, really do," She took a sip of her Butterbeer, thinking about how Phil didn't approve and Ariadne brought life into the world while Andy took it out. Ares... Ares had done both. "I'm sure you love being able to be so secretive. Must make your life easier. I mean, in a way my job is pretty secretive too. Can't go around naming names and all."

Liam smiled, nodding when Andy admitted that she liked her job. "So are you training now or actually out being a hit-wizard?" he asked curiously. He didn't know how most departments worked, if they had you train for ages before really starting or not. He was glad that his training took about a week. After that, he had to work with a supervisor, but that wasn't a problem. They mostly let him do as he wanted and just checked on him later to make sure his work was up to par.
He nodded when she commented about his job. "I like having an excuse not to talk about it," he agreed with an easygoing nod. Andy knew him well enough to be able to understand what he meant. "Do you like the secretive aspect of it?" He figured she would, but he wanted to be sure.

"Both. I'm training most of the time but they send me out on smaller assignments. Ones with less stakes and less... erh... bloody," she admitted. That didn't mean she didn't see her fair share of blood with her own middle of the night escapades, but obviously she wasn't ready to tell Liam that. Well, she probably never would. He had his own bloody history to deal with due to family... so he didn't really need another person to be a murderer in his life. Not after his mother had killed his father and all of that. She felt bad for him, but she was sure he wouldn't appreciate pity.
He agreed that he liked not talking about work, and she shrugged about hers. "I'd keep it to myself even if it wasn't necessarily in the job description. So I guess I enjoy it," she answered. "And how is... frick, what's her name?" wow, she couldn't even remember the girls name.

Andy explained that she did both, training and assignments. “I think that’s the best way to do it. Let you get the good training you need and go out into the field at the same time.” It was one of the things he appreciated about jobs like hers, that they gave real experience. Maybe it was just Liam, but he thought jobs were you trained for months before being allowed any action was just pointless. All those months of applying what you’re supposed to be learning, wasted. “And you’re enjoying it, yeah?” That was what was most important, and after all Andy went through he wanted her to be able to do something she enjoyed.
It was so easy to talk to Andy. She agreed that she’d keep her work business to herself even if it wasn’t part of the job, which meant she understood how he liked to keep to himself. Liam really appreciated that. “I’m glad you’re enjoying it.” Liam answered, really meaning it. He wanted her to be happy. He smiled when she asked about his girlfriend. “Tamara. She’s good. Working at the Daily Prophet,” he informed his old friend.

Liam agreed that the training was a good system and Andy smiled, nodding. When it came to the subject of Tamara he said she was working at the daily prophet. Andy laughed a little. "That's funny, you work a job that super secretive and she works a job that broadcasts her name on her work and... Well, broadcasts everything. You guys couldn't be in more opposite lines of work." It kind of reminded her about the fact that she was a killer and her sister, Ariande, brought new life into the world in the maternity ward.
As their conversation winded down, Andy remembered why she had left the house in the first place. She thanked him for spending time with her before leaving, hoping they'd catch up again soon. If nothing else they could see each other around the Ministry
