Joe seemed just as surprised by Kinsey's words as she was. She nodded when he said really. Kinsey thought about trying to explain it, but she didn't know how to put everything into words without sounding like a complete idiot. He gave her a hug and Kinsey hugged him back, feeling more comfortable with Joe than she'd ever felt before. "Me too. Thanks for being here for me," she said, really wanting him to know that she appreciated him. Joe meant a lot to her, even if she didn't like him the same way she liked Riley. She looked away, lost in her thoughts until he started talking again, telling her that she should be appreciated and telling her about how wonderful she was. Kinsey wasn't entirely sure if she believed what he was saying, but she knew Joe meant it. His intentions were entirely sincere. Her eyes widened as she looked at the Slytherin beside her, realizing for the first time maybe, that he really did care about her. Sure, she knew he did, but she didn't really realize. She beamed up at him, unable to help herself. "You really think all that about me?" Kinsey breathed a soft laugh. "I don't think anyone has said something like that to me before." Riley told her he loved her. He told her she was beautiful and smart and all that, but the bit about not being appreciated? That was different and it made her feel special. "Thanks again," she said softly, looking away as she started to blush again. If anyone could help her get over Riley, it would be the guy standing in front of her right now.

When Kinsey asked him if he really meant all of those things, Joe nodded his head up and down to confirm fervently. "Yes, I do, or else I wouldn't say it." he told her with a smile. Joe genuinely did mean everything. He wouldn't go around declaring such romantic proclamations to every girl he encountered...usually Joe had trouble talking about such personal feelings, but Kinsey was special to him. He had a soft spot for the Ravenclaw and he was fully aware of it. Things were too complicated, though it was probably better that way anyways.
He was kind of surprised she hadn't got full awkward turtle on him, that must have been a record. Kinsey was beaming up at him when she told him that no one had told her those kind of things before. Joe assumed Riley. Joe breathed, forcing a soft smile, he didn't want to think about Riley. "Well, they should tell you those things every single day." he said, shoving his hands into his coat pockets, somewhat awkwardly. He cleared his throat, eyes shooting toward the Library door from the other side of the hallway, "Should we get to the Library? You already know I need all the help I could get.." Joe grumbled. This year was the most time he had ever spent in the Library in all of his wizarding education. Joe never got to see what the inside of Ilvermorny's Library looked like. Back then he was too much of a sports snob to step foot in the Library.

Joe was so nice! At least, he was to her. Kinsey didn't normally see him around other people, but she really appreciated the fact that Joe was a part of her life now. He helped her feel better about herself in her low moments, which was something not a lot of people had done for her. Or maybe it just wasn't something that many people were doing for her now. It sort of felt like Kinsey was losing her supports left and right, so a new one was definitely welcome and the fact that it was a cute guy who seemed determined to make her think better of herself? All the better. "Thanks Joe," she answered with a soft smile. "Well you can feel free to," she teased, shaking her head almost immediately after. "I'm just teasing, by the way. I don't really mean that." Kinsey felt like she needed to clarify. She didn't want Joe to think she always expected him to say things like that. If he wanted to, she couldn't stop him, but she wasn't going to make him feel like it was an expectation. She nodded when he mentioned the Library. "Yeah, let's go on in now." Then she rolled her eyes, "You're doing a lot better than you think you are. Come on, in just a few minutes you'll be fine." That might not necessarily be true, but building him up wouldn't hurt. Most people did better at their studies when they actually had a positive attitude towards it. That's what Kinsey was trying to do. She led the way to the Library, glad that she could at least help Joe somehow since he was doing so much for her. --- the end --- @joseph
