[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] SINGING LIKE IT'S A FULL MOON [attr="class","next"] DECEMBER 28, 2024 Christmas had come and gone in the Fawley household and Rayne had been happy with what her gifts from both Santa and her mother had been. Her relatives also jumped in and gave her some presents that sat beneath the Christmas tree. To say the girl was both happy that her mother was home for a while and the other gifts, was an understatement. However, when Rayne told her daughter that she had a date with an unknown man coming up, she was super excited. She had helped her mother get ready for it, even helping by brushing her hair and “helping” her pick out an outfit. The seven-year-old was left in the care of Alice, her live-in nanny after everything was said and done. Laurel’s hair was pulled back in a messy but classy ponytail, she makes done to a natural tone, and her outfit was both cute and practical for the date that would transpire that night. Laurel had never been one for golf, that had been her father’s sport, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t try it out—perhaps it would be fun. The entire trip there she had a knot in her stomach, this was the first time she had been dating since she was nineteen, married not long after that, and now she was a free bird and trying her hand in the dating pool again. Perhaps dating a wizard would be better for her, maybe finding love before her parents brought up a betrothal again would save her from heartache. She arrived somewhat early to Singers, the location of the crazy golf place in London and stood outside. She knew that she was early, but that didn’t mean she was going to enter. She paced back and forth, her fingers rubbing up and down her arm as she did so, the cold weather nipping at her even though her warm faux coat that her mother had gifted her for Christmas many moons ago. She hated it, but it was warm…and free, so why wouldn’t she wear it. She wondered who this mystery man would be—did she know them already? Were they someone new? Would something become of this date?

Rory was actually quite excited about his blind date. The last one he had was with Callisto. While they hadn't really been interested in one another romantically, he had a lot of fun with her. It was nice to get to know her better and he was definitely glad that he went, even though he hadn't signed himself up for it. This time, he did fill out the paper and send it back to the Blishwick Dating service. In the very least, he'd be able to make another friend and Rory was always up for that.
His holidays had been fairly quiet so far. Of course, he had work to attend to, but there hadn't been any major emergencies or attacks, which he was grateful for. He spent most of his free time with his dad. He knew it was harder for the old man to be alone this time of year, and Rory felt similarly, so he enjoyed visiting his father and playing games like chess and checkers.
Rory wasn't the best when it came to golfing, but once he received the owl about it he did a little bit of research. Apparently "crazy golf" was an intense form of mini-golfing, which didn't sound too bad. He was actually excited to go and do that with someone. He arrived a few minutes early, looking around outside the place to see if anyone seemed to be waiting. He saw a familiar-looking figure standing outside and approached slowly. "Laurel?" his voice was soft, just in case he was wrong, but he was fairly certain that he recognized the woman he met the last time he visited Hogwarts. Rory smiled, hoping it was her. It could be fun to get to know her better.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] SINGING LIKE IT'S A FULL MOON [attr="class","next"] ‘Laurel?’ The sound of a familiar male voice speaking her name caught her attention, and she found her head snapping in the direction it came from. She took in the male for a second and smiled, “Yeah. Rory, right?” she questioned with a raised eyebrow as she moved slightly closer to him. They had met once already, back at Hogwarts when they had run into each other. It hadn’t been on the campus grounds but had been close enough that they had gotten to talking. A part of her prayed that he was the individual that was her blind date because then she wouldn’t have to go through the whole awkward introduction phase and could get right into the fun. “Please tell me you are here cause of Blishwick…” she said with a soft laugh, brushing a strand of brunette hair behind her ear while she bit her bottom lip. if she was wrong, she was prepared to hide.

The woman turned around to face him and Rory smiled once he caught sight of her face. It was Laurel! "Yeah, it's Rory," he confirmed with an easygoing nod. It seemed like too much of a chance that she wouldn't be here for the Blishwick date thing, but Rory also didn't want to assume. He was about to ask her what she was doing in a place like this, teasingly of course, when she asked if he was here because of Blishwick. Rory laughed, "As a matter of fact, I am," he told her with a nod. "I take that to mean you are as well?" Or else she wouldn't know about it, right? He felt himself relaxing a bit. "Well this seems lucky, to be on a date with someone I already know. Takes out most of the awkwardness, wouldn't you say?"

Laurel wasn’t much into the dating game or going out on dates for that matter, since her divorce. She hadn’t wanted to do this either, but here she was – and she was glad that it was with someone she already knew. Because if she had to meet someone new, she didn’t know if she’d last the entire date. She gave a little laugh and nodded her head, “Yes—it does take the awkwardness away.”

Rory smiled, sensing her discomfort a little bit. "Well then I think we're definitely lucky in our dates. I'm not too good at the dating scene and was a bit nervous about this," he admitted. It was true, he had been nervous, but he was saying this to try and make her feel more comfortable. He smiled when she laughed, saying the awkwardness was gone. "Good! That means we can just have fun tonight, right?" He glanced around, "I've never been here, but it seems pretty fun, don't you think?" Hopefully she was willing to try, even if she wasn't super into golfing.

SINGING LIKE IT'S A FULL MOON CARELESS NOW THAT HE HAS YOU
The last time Laurel had been on a date, it had been a few months after Rayne had been born. She still sported the post-pregnancy belly and was a little self-conscious in the short dress that she had worn. Luckily she had gotten someone to watch her daughter while she had gone out. That date had been with the same guy that she later married and divorced over the summer. And now, here she was a few years later, dating once again. It was strange, but at the same time, she was excited. What would this date offer? Would it offer a relationship or just a friendship? It would be exciting to find out.
She smiled, "And now? Are you nervous now?" she questioned, seeing as he was quick to admit such a thing. It was nice that the guy had done so because she too had been nervous. Learning that she wasn't the only one, it was freeing.
'I've never been here, but it seems pretty fun, don't you think?' She smiled at him, "The last time I had been "golfing" had been when I took Rayne for some fun at a mini-golf thing back in the States. But it does seem fun to have a go at again; maybe this time keep score," she said with a soft laugh. @rory

Rory shrugged, smiling as she asked if he was nervous now. "Not really. Hard to be nervous when I already know you a bit. Means we can just get better acquainted." Which he was definitely more comfortable with. If they hit it off or whatever, that would be cool, but he felt like there was less pressure when he already knew her.
Ha nodded when she asked about this place. "It definitely does seem like a cool place." He glanced around again. Rory wasn't a big golfer, even mini-golfing, but this place did look like it would be fun. "I mean, we can try keeping score," he replied with a chuckle, "but the numbers might get so high that we don't want to tally them at the end." He was more talking about himself, but that was okay. He had a feeling she would understand. "Are you ready to begin?" Rory asked, offering his arm to her.

'Not really. Hard to be nervous when I already know you a bit. Means we can just get better acquainted.' This was very true; it did make the nervous feeling in her gut slowly disappear. He was right, thinking about it more deeply, it meant that this 'date' would be filled with getting to know someone she semi-already knew better.
Laurel laughed and nodded her head; they could keep score for fun and not tally them up? He offered his arm as he asked if she was ready, and she nodded once more, taking the offered arm. No one had done that for her, not even her ex-husband. "Let's do this!"

Laurel seemed to calm down a bit at Rory's words and he was glad. He wasn't particularly good at dating (or at least he didn't consider himself as being good at it) but he wanted to make sure that he didn't make her feel awkward. He wanted the pair of them to be able to have an enjoyable evening with one another. Luckily for him, Laurel liked the idea.
She took his arm and Rory smiled as he led her over to where the clubs were stored. He chose one and waited for her to get hers. Then the person in charge gave them both balls to use. His was a neon color green which Rory was cool with. "Do you want to go first or do you want me to?" he asked with a smirk. Surprisingly, he was more excited about this than he thought he'd be.

Laurel's life had always been hectic - primarily because of her upbringing. Living in a house full of thousands of children - of course, not that many - and going through two divorces of her father, things were just meant to be insane for her. And now that she was back in London, and recently divorced herself from an abusive asshole, it meant that she wasn't used to dating. She didn't need to date since she was married, and before that, she closed herself off because of being a single mother - but now that her daughter was older, she felt the need to get out there.
She had been scared, but knowing that it was Rory - she wasn't so much now. Rory led her within the establishment, and they collected their clubs, given their balls (which her own was a purple) and headed for the first hole. She laughed, "You can go first," she said with a smile - she wasn't much for the whole 'ladies first' thing. Plus, he seemed more ready than she was.
