This was a test. It was the perfect test, in Liona’s mind, that would decide on her going to see Blishwick for advice on what she was currently dealing with, as far as her romantic life was concerned. She’d been debating on if she wanted to seek the man out for his services but she had heard mixed reviews about them; some said the man was a pain and anyone with half a mind shouldn’t be bothered with him. There were plenty of purebloods who doted on his services though, utilizing him to find someone suitable to betrothe their children too. She wasn’t looking for all of that. She just… needed advice. And who better to talk to than a matchmaker? To judge for herself whether it was worth it, she’d decided to sign up for one of the blind dates they offered. Even though the add said not to take it seriously, she could only imagine a business wouldn’t offer anything but good quality service so she’d sent in her form. Which brought her to where she was. The letter that she had received in returned had told her to meet at the Hayward Gallery, one she’d heard of and had visited before though she was sure there was a new display up. It was a decent place for a date. She wondered if whoever she’d been set up with enjoyed art as well. Arriving a little bit early, she waited outside of the building dressed impeccably in a black and white dress, black tights, and black heeled boots. They had already sent her her ticket, she could go in, but she thought it best to wait for her date so they could view it together. She hoped this wasn’t a mistake.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BLOOM OF COLOR ON A POLAROID [attr="class","next"] DECEMBER 2024 Danielle had heard of the Hayward Gallery but has been unable to attend before now, and a part of her was glad that the Blishwick blind date thing had paired her with someone to visit with her. Danielle wasn’t exactly looking for love; she was more the type to let fate take its course and see what happened after that. Maybe she would become friends with her date, or maybe something more would happen, she didn’t know what life would bring to her. She knew not to expect anything from it, but she was excited none-the-less. Having dressed in a nice white blouse and her black slacks, paired with her favorite flats, she pulled her hair up into a messy-up-do and grabbed her camera before leaving. She didn’t know if she would take any pictures, but she was excited to see the place and wanted to remember it. Perhaps she could even turn the pictures into the prophet, and they could write about the dating service or the Gallery and use her images. If not, it was no skin off her back. The walk from her apartment in London to the Gallery wasn’t long, but it was a nice gentle breeze with the December weather, and she was glad that she put on her warm leather jacket type coat, a present from her father a few years ago. She had her purse with her ticket inside, as well as money, keys and her muggle cell phone, her camera also protected in the nice little pocket. As she approached the building, she took note of the woman standing outside in a dress, and in an embarrassing moment, she approached the woman. With a soft smile on her face, she spoke, “Hi—are you here for a Blishwick date?”

It was starting to get a little too chilly for her as she was standing outside. She checked her watch and noticed that it hadn’t been that long since she arrived but it was crawling close to the meeting time and no one had stopped or looked as if they were waiting for her. Wrapping her arms around herself she looked towards the door and contemplated just going in and waiting inside before the sound of someone’s voice broke through to her. She turned her head and looked into the face of a lovely, slightly taller, and blonde haired woman. Liona smiled. Not bad, not bad at all. The woman who’d spoken was undeniably beautiful with a clothing color palette that matched her own and a messy bun that gave her style a relaxed vibe. It was time to see what kind of person Blishwick paired her with. "Yes, I absolutely am. Are you my date?" Liona gave a charming smile before holding out her hand. "I’m Liona Zabini. Let’s go in shall we?" she motioned towards the doors that stood not too far away before she followed. She gave the woman another once over, noticing there was a professional looking camera on her person. So she was a photographer? Professionally? "That’s a very nice camera. Are you a professional photographer? Interested in art?" It was fitting if she were; it would explain the venue choice. Blishwick Matchmaking was already looking very good in her eyes. She still needed to figure out what kind of person the woman was but at the very least this didn’t seem like an absolute mistake.

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BLOOM OF COLOR ON A POLAROID [attr="class","next"] The woman was beautiful, undeniably so and Danielle found herself smiling as the woman confirmed her suspicion. She continued to ask if she were her date before holding out her hand and introducing herself, concluding with a question of going inside. Danielle smiled, “I believe so,” she began, her country accent thick as she spoke, “Danielle—Danielle Myers. And yes, after you,” she concluded. The two of them walked towards the door, and she noticed the woman was looking her over before her eyes landed on the camera that she had brought with her. Danielle wasn’t here on business, but pleasure, and she wanted to document the place. Maybe she could talk the prophet into doing a piece of the place with the photos she took, get this place more publicity. She smiled, “Thank you. And yes, I work for the Prophet, but I also have my own little side business when I have time. I’m a wedding, graduation—pretty much every type of photographer, for both magical and muggle occasions,” she said with a smile on her face. “As for interested in art, I am. I take it you are as well?” she questioned. Why else would the date take place here, an art gallery?

The pretty blonde introduced herself as Danielle before she gestured for Liona to go in front of her. That was a positive; she was polite enough to allow Liona to walk in front of her. And considering that Liona had been standing out there longer, she was itching to get inside of the building to the warmth. The woman’s accent also hadn’t gone unnoticed by her; she couldn’t quite place where the woman was from just by hearing it but she wondered then if she had just come to London or if she had been there for a while. It wasn’t something that she was going to ask about at the beginning of the date, however, as that was impolite. She was sure to find out before the end of their date though. Liona reached the door and held it open for Danielle just as she replied to her questions, confirming that she didn’t use the camera she held in a professional manner. She worked for the Daily Prophet, which was interesting, but she also had her own photography business which meant, to Liona, that she was versatile in a way. Another plus. "I love art but I’m only an observer and admirer. I admit that my talents don’t include practicing art in that sense," she giggled in response. She entered into the warmth of building and immediately she was immersed in the art. The exhibition was spread throughout the spaces that she could see. And, how fitting, it seemed that the exhibition they displayed was all about photography. "Well, well. It seems as if we’ve entered into your area of expertise," she began with a smirk as she turned to her date, "Is there anywhere in particular you want to start?"

[googlefont="Open Sans Condensed:300"] BLOOM OF COLOR ON A POLAROID [attr="class","next"] Her mother had always told her that first impressions mattered and always to be polite. She wondered if her mother would have thought that Danielle would play for both teams, enjoying the company of both genders when she had told her such. But that didn’t matter, her mother loved her as long as she was happy, as did her father, and Danielle was in that moment—happy. The woman seemed happy to head in first, not that Dani was surprised since it was quite nippy, but it made her slightly guilty that the woman had waited. Had it been because of her timing or had the woman simply arrived early? Damn it—she should have shown up earlier than on time. Danielle smiled as the brunette held the door open for her, “Thanks,” she said as she entered, stopping just to the side so that Liona could enter after her. She nodded her head as the woman answered and smiled, “An observer and admirer is part of the art world. Without them, those that have the talent, as you say you don’t, wouldn’t have the will to make what they make happen.”The blonde hadn’t realized the opening exhibit until her date mentioned having entered the area of her expertise and her eyes widened, “Holy guacamole…is that Diane Arbus’s photography?” she questioned in awe, the woman was one of her idols, having taken photos in and around New York City. She blinked once and then turned towards Liona and let out a soft but awkward laugh, “Sorry—uh no, nowhere particular. Why not there?” she questioned, pointing to a picture of the photographer herself holding a camera, it wasn’t one of her works, but it showed what she looked like. “Have you ever heard of Diane Arbus?” she questioned, wondering if people in London had heard of the States native as much as she had.
