Lars had somehow gotten talked into signing up for some blind dating event run by Jimbo Blishwick. He had heard of his match making service, it had been around for sometime. Yet he wasn’t aware that he did blind dating events. At least that was till one of the members from his Quidditch team talked about it. When Lars admitted that he was one of the few members on the team that was actually single they started trying to convince him to sign up. Out of the desire to shut them up and possibly just a little to see what might happen he did. It might be interesting and besides meeting the occasional old friend he hadn’t really done anything social in sometime. He had mostly forgotten about the event till an owl returned some weeks later with the information on where to meet. They had been told to go to a brewery for a taste testing and tour. At the very least he would be getting himself something to drink.
There was no going back on it now, all Lars could do was get ready. Hope for the best and brace himself for the worst. At the very worst it would be an uncomfortable night with someone else and there would be drinks. He didn’t consider the best being actually meeting someone he’d want to spend more time with, instead at the moment the best would be just having some fun. Lars hadn’t ever gone on a blind date which was why he didn’t expect much from it. Lars got ready and arrived early, possibly far too early and he didn’t even know who he was suppose to meeting or how to find that person.
He couldn’t just stand there and wait for two hours till the event started and his date showed up. Instead looking around Lars found a near by bench yet someone was already there. He contemplated looking for else where to sit but he was already suppose to be social today, might as well start now. Walking up slowly Lars spoke up, “is this seat taken? I’m suppose to be meeting someone here eventually and I’m ridiculously early.” Lars explained with a weak laugh, not wanting to interrupt he woman if she was saving the seat for someone.

Lars stood there as the woman started to look back at him while she didn’t seem completely familiar he felt like he had seen her before, either in passing or sometime ago. That or it was one of the many situations where Lars confused a person with someone else just because they look familiar. Either way she explained that the seat wasn’t taken at least not yet as she was waiting for a blind date. He sat down next to her and wondered for a second if this was the same blind date he was suppose to be on but doubted it. He was the only one silly enough to show up two hours early.
“That’s some coincidence,” Lars said with a small laugh as it was funny that she would also ask about the whiskey tasting as well. The chances were rising that this woman might be his date. Which he wouldn’t complaint at all. She was rather pretty and his only regret would be how awkward this would be to start the date. “I’m actually on a blind date as well and it’s at the whisky tasting.” He explained and smiled for a moment at the woman. “I can only assume that means we’re suppose to be meeting each other two hours from now? I guess we both like being early.” Lars awkwardly laughed as it was more the fact he just didn’t want to be late. “I’m Lars by the way even if you’re not my date, it’s nice to meet you.”

Lars laughed for a moment silently as the woman he sat next to commented about Blishwick. She had mostly seemed to say it to herself so Lars didn’t make a comment on it but as she was part of Blishwwicks dating event it would was quite the surprise they both seemed to be this early. He still couldn’t shake the feeling she was familiar but now that it was obvious that she at least part of the magical community he might have just seen her somewhere in passing.
The woman seemed to be a bit in shock after he introduced himself. Lars thought this could be the moment someone recognized him as a professional Quidditch player. Granted he hadn’t been one for long. Still as she spoke giving her name and that they had been in the same house back in school that expectation was gone. Yet he did now realize why he had felt he had seen her before. “That explained why I felt like I had seen you before.” Lars said laughing for a moment at the coincidence. “Well it’s nice to meet you, again,” he added.
While they talked He couldn’t help but notice as Marcia’s hair seemed to catch fire in small green flames. They moved around and he was about to say something both because it didn’t seem safe and someone else might have noticed till she noticed herself. Putting something into her mouth the flames soon went away. It was certainly an interesting start to a date. Marcia seemed to blush and apologized for the flames saying it happened sometimes. She quickly brought up going to a place to eat since they were early, possibly to change the subject. “There’s no reason to apologize, you certainly made an impression on me already.” Lars joked in a friendly manner trying to ease the awkwardness of what had just happened. It was a little weird but he had seen weirder things before and weird wasn’t bad necessarily. “Sure that sounds lovely and in case you catch fire again or whatever that was I’m sure they will have a fire extinguisher you put you out,” Lars explained agreeing on getting some food. He got up first and offered Marcia his hand to help her up.

Lars smiles for a moment as Marcia explained it was harmless one more before getting distracted by him attempting to help her up. She took his hand and got up. “Harmless or not, it might not go over well with others who might see it. Either way I’ll ask for the seat closest to the extinguisher.” He joked once more as he figured he would stop with the jokes after this. He didn’t want to upset his date as Lars was giving this a genuine effort. It was nothing against Marcia or anyone who he might have been paired with. He just wasn’t the most talkative person with people he didn’t know that well. She did seem to remember him from school and while he couldn’t say he knew her right away Marcia did seem familiar so that helped.
Marcia stated where the restaurant was and started to walk there and Lars followed. “So am I allowed to ask about the fire or is that not a first date topic?” He asked and Marcia explained how her hair had always done that since she was young, it reacted to her emotions with flames. It was certainly something he hadn’t heard or even seen til today. Yet she thanked him for not being weirded out about it. “Please, how many people can say that went out with a woman who can literally light up a room? I do have to ask tho, does it happen with good emotions or bad? I’ll promise not to get offended.”
They quickly made it to the restaurant and Marcia explained how a coworker told her about this place and how it was suppose to be the best. He was going to say something before she mentioned how she would cover dinner since it was unplanned. “Call me old fashioned but I believe I should be the one covering dinner, at the very least we go half but you don’t need to pay for me.” Lars explained as he didn’t feel right having someone he had just met pay for him. Yet that’s how she might have felt too so they could always just split the tab.

Marcia explained that her hair just did that for any emotion besides just being relaxed he supposed. He didn’t know when it started for her but it must not have been a fun time to deal with. Still he doubted she was looking for him to say he was sorry to hear it or pity from him. She seemed to have accepted it and as far as weird quirks go, it was in general an interesting one for sure. “Got it, so if your hair lights up again you’re at least feeling something.” Lars said with a small laugh not teasing but just attempting to make small talk. Something he had always been horrible at unless he could find something he was passionate to talk about. “I was hoping it would just be good emotions though as that would have been a little flattering.”
Once inside the restaurant Lars looked around, it was nice. Probably a place he wouldn’t have come unless it was some special get together but this did qualify as that after all. They were escorted to a booth and after asking what they wanted to drink they were both given menus. A lot of which sounded good as he read a few things of the menu. Occasionally looking up from his menu toward Marcia. Lars didn’t want to make it seem like he was just ignoring her for the menu or something like that. Eventually she asked him what he was thinking, he assumed she was talking about the menu then suggested she had an idea. “By all means please do share.” He replied with a small smirk as Lars waited to hear what Marcia had in mind.
