DECEMBER 27TH 2024
There were times Zenevieva thought to herself that signing up for the Blishwick Blind Date was one of the worst decisions of her young life. During one Hogsmeade weekend back in November, she remembered Kaylee helping the young Novell picking a outfit for herself – to be at least attractive for her date. But after receiving information on the location a few weeks later, Zen felt like she would be overdressed. And so, she went back to the boutique, sporting her new simple blue long sleeved dress, a warm but nice jacket with black tights and flats for shoes. SeaLife itself was one place the half-vampire had always wanted to go to, especially after moving to London, there were many places the Novell had to explore – to experience.
The timing for her date was chosen somewhat accordingly, perfect considering the times Zen finished school for the Christmas break. December 27th was when Zenevieva walked to the Muggle tourist attraction, the time set for some time after two o’clock, but she found herself wandering around the outside of the aquarium at least twenty minutes early. She walked as people of all ages, children – adults – walked to and from the attraction, but green eyes glanced around South Bank, filled with different kinds of people. Tourists mainly. The River Thames itself was a famous attraction to – thanks to Muggle Studies and the countless novels she read on London – but it seemed to only excite the Novell just a little. While her name resembled water and its meaningfulness, Zenevieva truly enjoyed the ocean, a view she was able to see back home in America…God she missed it.
As time crept closer, the Novell walked inside, standing by the automatic sliding doors that SeaLife had, her fingers fumbling with one another. She had no idea who her date was, nor how the two would get along, but Zen was filled with complete anxiety. So while she waited, she grabbed onto a small brochure, including some of the sea creatures the two would possibly see. @crimson1 & even used a nice new gif for this

Christmas break was a weird time for Daniel as it always had. His family being broken more than most he really never had any reason to leave Ilvermorny for Christmas break. Even if he did there wouldn’t be much of anything for him to do. His father didn’t buy him gifts just like Daniel didn’t do anything special for his father. Their gift to each other was avoiding one another. Yet this year Daniel did leave school for Christmas, he still wasn’t going home, he had his the things he needed and would get by just like he had during the summer. It was also partly why he had signed up for Jimbo's blind date event again. The first two times hadn’t actually been bad, even finding himself having fun. At the very least this would give him something to do during the break and who knew, whatever happens, happens.
Daniel got the owl about his date a few days into the Christmas break and this time it would seem to be happening at an aquarium in London. Which didn’t actually sound like a half bad place to visit. He couldn’t remember ever going to an aquarium. So at the very least Daniel and whoever he was paired could talk about the sea animals. The days went by with Christmas being the the longest as he spent this one truly alone. At least at school he had other students around, still he had the freedom to go wherever he wanted during this break. The twenty seventh came around and Daniel got ready to go dressing moderately nice, leaving his make shift home of a magical tent packed up and well hidden. This has just come to be a usually practice for him and it may not have all the perks of an actually building it might as well have been a one a very small one room and bathroom apartment.
He made it just a little early as being late would have just been a bother. Not only would it have come off as rude but given the person he had to spend the day with he might never hear the end of it. As he reached Sealife Daniel was left wondering like last time just who he was suppose to be meeting. That was always the question with these events. It was meant to be a surprise but it also made it impossible to be sure who to just walk up to. Either way he could just wait inside, if he was lucky whoever he was suppose to meet would be inside already.
Once in Daniel looked around and at first no one looked familiar which wasn’t a surprise, it wasn’t like he knew everyone who went to hogwarts at the moment. Yet given another pass at the main entrance he did find someone, whether she was suppose to be his date or just happened to be here remained to be seen. If Zen had come here she was dressed really nice just for an aquarium yet he couldn’t imagine her signing up for a blind date. Of course the now ravenclaw girl was reading again, possibly to pass the time. Daniel walked up while she wasn’t paying attention and just smiled. “I know you love to read and all but you can actually see the animals here. You don’t need to look at them in the brochures.” Daniel teased for a moment wondering just what her reaction would be. "Either way I'm sure the fish and other animals will be impressed with what your wearing."

Jumping at the sound of someone talking to her, the realisation of the familiarity of the voice soon began to sink in. Slightly looking over her shoulder before the brunette turned completely, she couldn’t help but smile when Daniel filled her view. He was dressed rather well, something she hadn’t really seen considering the robes of their school took up most of their current wardrobe - leading to the conclusion in the Novell’s mind that he was her blind date. With the open brochure in hand, Zen slowly closed it, placing it back and pushing some hair behind her ears. ”Shut up…” She muttered with a laugh, slightly blushing at his compliment. ”You brush up rather well yourself.”
Zenevieva had spoken to Daniel on and off since their reunion back in September, even learning the curse he had in mind to help her use against her bullies. She still hadn’t performed it. She looked down at what she was wearing and glanced over to his outfit - feeling a little overdressed, but she knew Daniel probably wouldn’t mind regardless. Clearing her throat, Zen’s arms wound up behind her back, her hands clasping together there. ”I’m only here for the turtles.” She admitted, definitely not being the reason, she signed up for the Blind date in the first place.
”And my friend convinced me to…” Trailing off, she coughed up the rest of her words. ”Sign up…” It was a coincidence she was paired with Daniel, one she wasn’t even mad at in the slightest. She enjoyed the Gryffindor’s company, sometimes. Times when he wasn’t ruining a quality read time. ”They say the turtles are around the Dive Discovery area or the Glass Tunnel…” Which wasn’t too far from the Ship wreck - supposedly filled with…Sharks. If one muggle thing frightened Zen aside from the other things she feared, sharks would fall under it.

Daniel laughed for a moment as the first words from Zen’s mouth were for him to shut up. He knew she was kidding but still it was already an interesting start to this date. “This is going to be a pretty quiet date then if that’s what you want. Normally I only get told to shut up near the end.” Daniel teased for a moment before Zen returned his compliment and he just smiled. “Thanks, I figured I might as well make an attempt to look presentable.” By all accounts this date could have been worse, he never really tried to guess who he might get as a match as the chances were slim he’d ever be right. Still Zen was one of the good choices, he didn’t even want to imagine what if Katherine had signed up and they got paired.
Zen explained how she was only here to see the turtles and Daniel just laughed for a moment. “Well I’m sure the turtles will be mighty flattered you decided to dress so well for them.” Daniel teased for a second as he could only assume this was her way of being nervous. “I know I’m jealous of the turtles now, which I never expected to happen.” He added laughing once more. One way or another this was going to be a very interesting evening.
She explained that her friend had convinced her to sign up for the blind date. “Yeah, my first round of these was similar, mostly dared to try it out.” Daniel explained as he remembered he had been part of the first round of blind dates Jimbo had ever done. “Do make sure you thank your friend for me for getting you to sign up.” He added with a small smirk as if it wasn’t for her who knows who he would have been paired with. Zen explained exactly where the turtles were, he could only assume she was most excited to see them. That or the ravenclaw was still insisted she was only dressed so nice just for them. “Well let’s not keep them waiting, I’m sure they can’t wait to see you.”

Looking up at the taller Gryffindor with widened eyes Zen shook her head. Knowing he was rather teasing her, she stepped forward to him, grabbing his hands with her own small ones. ”Okay! You got me…” She breathed out, smiling small to herself. ”Don’t shut up…It’ll be boring with your silliness.” He always had a tendency to make her laugh, one way or another. But from his appearance, she was glad Blishwick had paired her with him, especially since she was able to see him in a different limelight. I.E. anything apart from his uniform or robes. ”Well you look good regardless…” She smiled.
Daniel continued to somewhat compliment and joke with the Novell, leading to her cheeks flushing a crimson red. It was natural, being a half-vampire herself, the human side of her was more evident than her vampire side. ”I’m sure they’ll appreciate you dressing up for them too.” She laughed rather quietly, gesturing towards his impressionable clothes. ”Daniel? Jealous of something?” She asked, a brow raising as her lips tugged into a wider smile. ”I never expected something like that to ever happen” She said with emphasis as she teased him.
When Daniel mentioned that he had signed up before, similar to Zen’s case of being dared to trying it out, she felt her eyes narrow, a brow raised. ”Looks like you’ll have to…give me some advice on the kinds of people to avoid…If I were to ever use Blishwick’s services again.” She stated, giggling. For the strangest of reasons, Zen was feeling rather…Bold. Did she even intend to use the service out of her own free will? Without Kaylee’s perfect convincing the brunette was sure she would’ve gotten away with spending her Winter Break in the quiet home that she shared with her aunt. But even so, she was having a good time with Daniel already - and the day hadn’t completely started yet.
”I will.” She responded, fingers reaching up to play with the strands of her hair again. When Daniel declared the two of them should start heading inside her hands clasped together, resting in front of her as she slowly started walking. The room the two walked into was lit dimly in comparison to the bright lit entrance the two met in, but it left her mouth hanging open regardless. On her left, the designs of the tanks holding different sea creatures gained her attention, but the open areas on her right filled with Muggles peering over one another brought a smile to her face. But when green eyes caught site onto a certain looking fish, her eyes widened while her hands reached for Daniel, tugging at his shirt.
”L-Look!” She whisper-yelled rather excitedly, pointing in the direction of the tank. ”It’s a Blue Tang! A Dory!!” Zen knew the fishes’ scientific name as Paracanthurus, but decided that today the nerd would be best hidden. Dory however, was the name of a strange animated character from a Muggle film the Novell used to watch as a child. It was funny for the Novell though, she had barely been in the aquarium for at least five minutes and she was already squealing.

Daniel laughed as Zen reached for his hand admitting he was right. Also that the date would be boring if had shut up like she had jokingly requested earlier. “Shut up, don’t shut up. You’re already giving me mixed signals.” Daniel teased for a second as he knew full well what she had meant the whole time. Still it was fun to pretend to take things the wrong way or very literal at times. Zen complimented him saying he looked good regardless of why he dressed up. “Thanks, I leave my good clothes for special occasions such as this.”
Zen explained how the turtles might like how was dressed too using his own word against him. “Oh no, I’m just the third wheel on this date. It’s obviously all about Zen and the turtles.” Daniel replied teasingly for a second before laughing a bit more. It was easy to talk with Zen as he had already known her. It wasn’t like he was meeting a strangle like the past couple times he attempted one of Jimbo’s blind date event. Even if the other times went well also. She questioned him about being jealous and not expecting it from him. “Hey I’m human too after all. Granted I’m not jealous of the turtles unless you genuinely dressed so nicely for them. Yet I’ve been jealous of other things before.”
While they talked Zen explained that she would have to ask for tips from him if she ever tried to Jimbo’s services again. “Oh are you going to going on a dating spree now? I’m just the first of your many dating victims?” Daniel teased for a second as he continued, “honestly you just have to get lucky. I have no idea how he picks who goes out with who. I assume he just throw darts or pulls names out of a hat.” There was no secret on getting a good match as far as Daniel knew. It was all just the luck of the draw to him. Still he had been more or less lucky three times in a row. If there was a fourth time his streak might continue or he would regret going for a fourth round.
They both finally proceeded further into the aquarium, while he might not have seemed like it on the outside he was actually sort of excited to see what this place had in store. It wasn’t someplace he had ever really gone before only knowing of aquariums from what other people had said. As they got into the next room it was rather dark but made for the light in the tanks being even brighter. A number of people had been gathered around the tanks but you could still easily see what was above them. It wasn’t long till Zen excitedly got his attention both speaking and tugging on his shirt. Explaining she was excited for a fish and named it. “I’ve heard that somewhere,” Daniel thought out loud to himself. “Well let’s get closer.” Daniel said as he grabbed Zen’s hand and made his wait to an open spot between the muggles and near the blue fish she was talking about.

Zenevieva couldn’t help but groan at his response. Filled with teasing jokes as usual, that was exactly who Daniel was. And the Novell knew she wouldn’t change him for the world. ”I feel like I’m the person in this situation who should shut up.” She laughed. ”A date is a special occasion?” She found herself asking. What a strange question. But to Zen, dates were something common in romance novels — not films considering she refused to watch any with romance included — common and usually ended poorly. At least in the few novels the brunette had read herself.
After he noticed she was twisting his words in order to compliment him and the turtles, Zen couldn’t help but hover her hand over her mouth as she giggled. ”I don’t think that would be a great date…” She trailed off, trying to circle a joke. ”Because…Turtles don’t talk…” Lame. But Daniel already knew the Novell for the nerd she pretty much was. So she hoped he didn’t expect too much out of her. ”I assure you.” She began, lifting her hands to push brunette curls behind her ear — thanks Aunt Adèle — before looking up at him, her smile having no intention to disappear. ”I didn’t dress up for the turtles. Or the sharks…Or for any of the creatures.” She laughed. ”More so for the date. And because Kaylee and even my Aunt said they’d kill me if I didn’t.”
There was never a dull moment by Daniel’s side and Zen was glad that the date was going smoothly without it even officially starting yet. But with the confidence she conjured up for herself, firstly from signing up to the blind date service itself to actually attending…She decided to match Daniel’s tone. ”Maybe.” She murmured, her shoulders raising slowly into a shrug while green eyes looked off with seriousness across her face. ”Depending on how our date goes.” When the brunette looked back at him, she couldn’t help but giggle. ”I call the hat. It’s usually the conventional choice.” While it was a guess, Zen truly hoped that wasn’t the case. Jimbo seemed to be rather lovely and positive with his choices/decisions. But Zen was glad her pairing was a good choice.
When Daniel grabbed her hand, Zen was sure her face flushed entirely red for reasons she couldn’t even explain. But with a few muggles moving to the side, she tugged against Daniel’s hand, so the two of them had space to look inside the tank. Her eyes soon settled on the Dory-resembling-fish, her eyes widened in awe. ”Dory…” She mumbled. The Blue Tang was surrounded by similar fishes of its own along with many others. ”There’s the Seahorses!” She whispered to him, her finger pointing up at the fishes that swam around the corals at the edge of the tank. Some were yellow with blue scattered dots, some were orange and some were even red after taking up the colours of the corals for camouflage. Though the variety of the fishes in the tank that Zenevieva was sure wasn’t even the biggest the aquarium had left her with her mouth open. There were so many similar looking fishes.

Zen explained that now she felt like the one who needed to shut up and Daniel just shock his head. “Again, it would just be a really boring date. I’d just be hear talking out loud about fish and turtles.” He explained as it was likely that would be what would happen. Just him talking to Zen with no reply. “Which wouldn’t me much different to if you were reading and I tried talking to you.” He teased for a moment. “Well it’s more of a special occasion than what I’ve been up to lately. Just wandering London or in me t...house.” Daniel caught himself there, no one actually knew he was living in a tent. It was a magical tent and might as well be an apartment. It even controlled the temperature. Still it was probably best if people didn’t know he hadn’t returned home again. He didn't want anyone telling someone that might get him in trouble. He doubted Zen would be that person but didn't need to share that, just yet at least.
“They might not talk but weren’t you the girl who was telling me to shut up a minute ago.” Daniel replied with a laugh as she commented how the turtles wouldn’t be a good date either. It was easy to talk with Zen, mostly because they had already known each other. He didn’t have to worry too much about what to say or talk about. Zen explained how she didn’t dress up for the turtles but the date and who had helped her pick it out and forced her in a a way to wear it. “Well, all three of you certainly have good taste in dresses.”
“So just to be clear if this date goes well you’ll be going on a dating spree with other people or that’s only if this date goes poorly?” He asked wondering just want her response would be but either way it was nice to see the usual bookworm being confident. Zen agreed with him about Jimbo drawing the names out of a had and Daniel nodded. It was hard to imagine that Jimbo did any actual pairings solely based of the few questions they had to answer. “How ever he does it he didn’t do a half bad job in this case at least.”
As they walked closer to the tank they could see even more sea creatures. No turtles yet or anything too crazy. Mostly just different types of fish. Which wasn’t a bad thing as he had never seen many of these fish before. Zen pointed out that where some seahorses and he looked on. There certainly were many different colored ones. Daniel looked around and no muggles seemed to be close or paying attention to them. “Have you ever seen the flying seahorses back at school yet?” Daniel asked having seen them a number of times. If anyone had happened to listen in it would just seem like he was being weird anyway. “They look similar besides the wings.”

Zenevieva felt her lips draw into a pout, something that wasn’t rather common for her to do so, but alongside Daniel, anything was possible. ”I’m sorry for being a…quiet person.” Playing with her fingers, she looked up at him. ”It would be a boring date if I didn’t make…an effort.” She said, quietly laughing. But when Daniel spoke about what he had been up to as of recent, hence why their date was a special occasion, she found herself laughing gently once more. It was rather relatable as Zen spent the start of her holiday in silence within her new room, mainly reading books and attempting to bond with her aunt.
Rolling her eyes, Zen soon came to realise that he actually had a point. ”It was a jooooke.” She whined, knowing that he was completely messing with her now. But from his comment came the small but faint appearance of crimson red upon her cheeks — blushing in a way. ”N-Not me” she stuttered, defending her friend’s style sense. ”I just like…Casual sweaters…Blue and…Red…” she stated, trailing off while she looked at the side.
With the Gryffindor’s next question, Zenevieva found herself snorting. There was never a moment she could take him seriously and with her confidence around him it was comfortable to show some kind of confidence. Drawing her shoulders into a shrug, with a sly grin on her lips she looked over at him. ”I’d say poorly. But who knows?” Though, Zen knew it would take her almost everything to seek out another date — simply because of her nerves and shyness. ”That’s true.” She smiled, pushing her hair behind her ear. ”I’m rather glad that his non-magical ways brought us together.” She laughed, teasing Jimbo’s tactics.
The question left the Novell with wide eyes and her head whipping around to look amongst the Muggles. Most of them had moved away and others simply weren’t paying attention. Letting out a sigh of relief, green eyes looked up at Daniel. ”You shouldn’t…Say something like that out loud.” She muttered in warning, knowing it would probably go right over his head. ”In Hogwarts?” She asked, in reference to which school he was going on about. But as Zen continued, she shook her head lightly. ”I…Don’t think I have. I don’t really spend much time seeking out magical creatures or enjoying the sights.” She joked, while it was honestly true. Her days as of lately consisted of classes, new novels to read and people to hide from. Though when she first arrived to Hogwarts, she had explored most of it on her lonesome. Turning her head away from Daniel, she looked back at the tank once more, her mouth open in awe. ”Those!” She whisper-yelled, pointing towards what seemed to be a Puffer-fish. ”I’ve seen them around the Black Lake…Except they had legs too…I think they’re Plimpy’s?”

Zen apologized for being a quiet person and Daniel wasn’t entirely sure if she was making a joke or being serious. Either way he shook his head, “there’s no reason to apologize. It’s just the type of person you are and there isn’t anything wrong with that.” Daniel attempted to reassure her even if Zen had only been kidding. “Besides I think out loud all the time so I’m used to it.” He added a small joke also. Zen explained that the date might also be boring if she didn’t put in the effort to talk. “Well if not we have all the pretty fish to look at but I’m glad to see you’re giving it an effort. At least you didn’t bring a book with you so that was a good start.”
Daniel laughed while Zen professed that it had just been a joke after rolling her eye. He knew that but it didn’t mean he couldn’t comment on it a couple times. He’d probably let it slide though and move on unless it could up come later on. Zen went on to explain that the dress wasn’t her idea but her friend. That and how she’d normally be in casual red and blue sweaters. “Well either way you look nice in it, you also look nice in sweaters too so just wear whatever you feel comfortable in.” Daniel explained laughing as that’s how he normally dressed. In whatever was comfortable that day.
“Well I’ll try and make sure this doesn’t go poorly but as it seems you don’t really know yet. I get the feeling I won’t be the last of your many victims.” Daniel teased as he couldn’t imagine Zen going on a spree of random dates but he also didn’t see her as the type to try a blind date yet here she was. Either way he wasn’t about to complain about the last part. “We’ll have to congratulate him for his excellent skill in pulling names out of a hat.” He joked as he doubted Jimbo would appreciate that very much yet it did sound funny.
Daniel just smirked slightly as Zen’s eyes widened and she looked around for any nearby muggles when he spoke of the animals at Hogwarts. It was always funny how people reacted when he might have brought up magical stuff in the muggle world. Daniel wasn’t a fool, he had already looked around to make sure it was safe. He also avoided any outright words about magic. At most if someone heard him he would just seem a little off. “That’s why I didn’t yell it and waited for us to have a little space.” He replied to her shocked expression. “Yeah at Hogwarts. There is even a game some students play to see who can catch the most.” Daniel hadn’t ever played it but had seen others do it. “They look pretty cool.” Zen pointed out of the fish and claimed it looked like one in the black leg but that one had legs. “I thought you didn’t take any time to see the sights or creatures at school?” He asked teasing for a moment.

Looking up at Daniel, Zen couldn’t help but form a small smile on her lips. Daniel was rather considerate around their different personalities. She knew Daniel was more outspoken than she was and appreciated that he understood that. ”Thank you.” She murmured to him, putting her arms behind her back as she gently rocked on her feet. ”I suppose I’ll get used to your loud thoughts throughout this…Date then.” She laughed gently. Rolling her eyes at his next joke which he mentioned he was glad she didn’t bring a book with her, Zen couldn’t help but smile a little wider. ”Maybe next time I’ll bring a book. Or every time I bump into you I’ll make sure I’m holding a book.” She laughed.
From her whining, Daniel seemed to laugh, which only led to Zen feeling a little more comfortable. She was glad that while the date had only started, the two of them were enjoying themselves. The only thing that made her a little uncomfortable was her attire. Dresses weren’t exactly her thing so she had no clue how to style it off. Her cheeks tinted a light red from his compliment and she nodded in a response. ”I will.” She told him, noting to herself to wear her usual attire if they ever had a date again.
Zen laughed at his teasing response, brushing it off with a wave of her hand. ”Maybe you’ll be my first and only victim.” She countered, raising her brows as she teased back. ”Just a continuous experiment.” She hoped he knew she was joking. Zen had never imagined herself to go on a date with anyone, considering how quiet she was. But here she was, feeling confident as she spoke more and more too Daniel. ”Who knew we would have been paired together? We’ll have to thank Jimbo for pulling our names out together.” She joked, laughing as she did so. She didn’t know the history around Jimbo’s service and how he paired people together, but it seemed rather interesting.
Feeling relieved that there were no Muggles around as Daniel spoke she looked up at him, breaking a smile again. ”If you did, or if anyone was around, then what?” She challenged, raising a brow. Her confidence was reaching an all time high. How strange. ”Maybe I’ll play that game…One day.” When she felt brave enough for competition. Chaos, havoc or anything adventurous wasn’t really her style. Listening to his teases, the Novell rolled her eyes. ”I meant…Inside the school. Outside on the grounds are different.” And quite far away from Bianca. Being half of a dark creature allowed her to visit places like the Forbidden Forest and the Black Lake without exactly getting into too much trouble.

Daniel laughed for a moment as Zen suggested she would just get used to his out loud thoughts during their date. “I suppose so unless you get serious about me shutting up at some point.” He teased for a second, Zen continued saying she might just have to bring a book next time or have one whenever he was around. “To be honest I’m pretty sure you had a book on you almost every time we ran into each other. This might be one of the few times you didn’t and even then you still found something to be reading before I showed up.” It wasn’t so much teasing as a fact but she was more into books than he would ever be. Part of the reason he could safely call her a book worm.
Zen explained that he could possibly be her first and only victim before calling it a continuous experiment. “Oh so I’m just an experiment now?” Daniel asked and a few moments later laughing. They continued on about the chances of them being paired together and thanking Jimbo for it. “Sure, we can invite him to the wedding or something.” Daniel said calmly and pausing for her reaction before laughing as he was obviously kidding.
Zen questioned him on what if a muggle had heard him talking about Hogwarts and flying seahorses. “Well than I suppose I’d be carried off to a mental hospital, it would be more likely I was crazy than for magic to exist to a no-maj here.” Daniel explained as it did seem it would be the case. It was nice to say No-maj to someone without having to explain it was the American term for muggle. He had explained that far too much since he had come to Hogwarts. “If you do, come and find me if you ever feel like getting your butt kicked at it.” He teased, knowing he hadn’t played it but still it would be fun and he had some confidence that he would win. “So you go off exploring in the middle of the night or something and you don’t invite me? Pretty rude if you ask me.”

ZENEVIEVA WAS FILLED with smiles and laughter as she stood alongside Daniel. After all he was a complete funny guy. ”I doubt…I’ll ever get serious.” She mumbled. Fear would do its job before Zen could speak out about anything, hell, it had taken all of her will-power and courage to even speak to a teacher back in fourth year because of her bullying. Some things never really change in people, do they? ”I can’t help but read.” She defended. It was simply the one thing she resorted to, it left her in a comfortable place. ”Plus, we always bumped into each other at school. It’s only natural I had a book then.” They were students after all.
Shaking her head as he filled her mouth with more twists and lies, Zen was finally beginning to understand that the Gryffindor was simply teasing her. ”That’s no fair!” She objected as he laughed. But at his next statement, the half-vampire flushed red. With her pale skin, colours were easy to see. When she felt sick, when she felt anger and most definitely when she was completely and utterly embarrassed. The comment was abrupt, sudden, something Zen didn’t see coming but she didn’t object to it either. Weddings were…Nice. At least from the ones she had seen in Muggle movies or read from cheesy romance novels. ”W-W-Wedding?” She stuttered, finally getting her words out. At his laughter she felt relieved he was kidding but it still took her by surprise.
The Novell frowned at the thought of being locked away, especially for a crime as revealing magic to a No-Maj. She truly wondered how all of them continued their day-to-day lives without a little magic involved. Zen was nothing without her magic. ”I-Is that a challenge?” She questioned, mentally frowning at the appearance of her stutter. It was one thing that never seemed to go away as she aged as well. Zen wasn’t typically the most active person, or one to take risks that would lead to chaos but…A competition against Daniel seemed fun. Maybe she could challenge him to some book reading too. ”I don’t exactly have a way inside of Gryffindor’s common room, nor would I want you to get in trouble for it!” She defended. ”But…I’ll be sure to invite you to my future nightly wanders.”

“Well that’s a relief, not sure what I would do if I wasn’t allowed to say anything this whole time.” Daniel joked for a moment about shutting up for the whole date. Honestly it might not have been that hard if he had gotten the wrong person on one of these dates. Zen explained more about how she couldn’t help but read and why she would always have a book in school. “It’s not always a bad thing, if you ever run out of books to read you can always read one of my school books out loud to me, might help with studying I suppose.” He teased for a second but they would surely get more use from Zen than he had ever gotten out of them.
Zen protested that it wasn’t fair calling him just an experiment. “Hey, those were your words not mine. You could have called it funoutings or just dates but instead I’m an experiment.” He teased harmlessly as he didn’t take it seriously so she shouldn’t either. Daniel laughed once more as Zen finally picked up on his wedding comment and asked him about it. “Yeah, you know that old rhyme? First comes love then comes marriage then something else.” He pretended to ask seriously for a second before laughing once more.
“I believe it was, do you have a problem with that?” Daniel asked with a small smirk before turning back toward the large aquarium in front of them. The fish just kept going about their business. It was nice and peaceful in a way. He did have to wonder if the flying seahorses hated the games the students played for a moment before Zen spoke up again this time about common rooms and any late night adventures. “If you want in I’m sure I can sneak you in. It’s not that interesting really. Just some fireplaces, chairs and sofas.” He added with a laugh as he didn’t imagine it was that serious of a rule with the common room for the Gryffindors not being that secret. “Please do, I’ve wondered around a bit myself last year but it would be nice to see where you go.”

A DATE FILLED with silence would have been more awkward than Zen’s entire existence. She was quiet herself, reserved because of her surroundings and even because of the minor conversations the Novell would have as a child. Talking wasn’t a huge necessity within the house, considering the half-blood spent most of her time reading novels in silence, the utter bliss that it was, or watching Muggle movies, gifted from her mother who had saved them from her own childhood. ”I-I don’t know...T-That would be rather awkward." She stuttered, forcing a smile at his joke. Daniel was a talker, something she knew since she would usually say ten words in comparison to his hundreds — but she was glad he didn’t mind it. "Wouldn't I t-technically be doing your h-homework then?" Considering most assignments for Seventh Years were to read over textbooks for their NEWTs.
"I-It was a joke!" She defended herself, laughing. She could tell when Daniel was messing around with her in comparison to when Bianca would do so, the now-Slytherin girl had a sort of sarcasm in her tone, and an eviler laugh. Definitely evil. Though when he messed with her this time around, the idea of it all being a joke flew entirely over the Novell's head. As if she didn't get it at all. With cheeks flaming a bright red, Zenevieva nodded in response. It was a rhyme she would teasingly stutter along at her aunt when the two were younger, though Zen barely remembered it, it was Adèle who reminded her. The colour red was somewhat of a natural colour to find the half-vampire in, considering the Ravenclaw was seemingly always filled with embarrassment and anxiety, "L...ove." She repeated. Feeling a boost of confidence, the Ravenclaw cleared her throat. "I'd a-at least like another d-date before you take my hand in m-marriage."
At his next question, a dark brow quirked upwards, her tongue prodding the inside of her cheek as she wandered off in brief thought. Zenevieva watched as the Gryffindor turned, facing the tank filled with the little sea creatures swimmingly freely around. She couldn't help but peer over at him, a small smile forming from the corners of her lips as she did so. But soon, like him, the brunette turned her head, green eyes watching the fish in the tank swim around. "Just a l-little." Challenges were one thing Zen wasn't used to, considering she was always brushed aside - never truly seen as a potential opponent. Instead a simple victim of fear. Just like any other common room, Gryffindor seemed to be the same. Though Zen did truly wonder about Slytherin's. Did their fireplace really burn green fire? "I-I'd rather avoid d-detention...But thank you..." It was an odd but sweet gesture, considering the Novell knew Daniel would really risk detention or even expulsion to let her see the Common room. ”I-I usually just head outside…The Courtyard when the m-moon’s out…Whomping Willow…Around.”
