Edmund chuckled when Addi told him that she was stubborn. He definitely couldn't argue with that. It was one of the things he appreciated about her. Because she was stubborn, she didn't let him get away with being stupid. She was always there for him and always trying to help him be a better person. Edmund appreciated that about her.
Addi wasn't saying anything to any of his questions and Edmund was starting to get really nervous for her. He kept looking over at her as he lead her to the castle. What was going on with her?
Once they got to the castle she seemed to get control of herself again. She let go of Ed's hand and he frowned a little. "Okay, come this way," he said, gesturing to the left. "Are you okay? What happened Addi?" Ed asked, watching her closely. She seemed fine, but aloof or something. He didn't know what to call it. Something just seemed different and he wanted to make sure she was all right.

He told her to follow him and she did, taking in the entire room as they went. She was looking for weak points, interesting things she could use against them if needed. Well, not her necessarily but those who would use her information. He asked what happened and she turned to look at him, tilting her head to the side. "Nothing. Just felt a little dizzy is all," she suggested. She must have made a scene right before this.

Edmund lead Addi to the kitchens, though he kept looking at her every so often. She was being a little weird. She wasn't holding his hand, which wasn't a bad thing, but it definitely wasn't normal. She seemed to be looking at anything but him and Ed started to wonder if maybe he did something wrong. He tried to remember everything that just happened, but nothing stuck out to him. She said she was just dizzy and Ed nodded, not really trying to make conversation as they walked. Starting conversation really wasn't his thing.
Once they arrived in the kitchens, he grabbed her a glass and filled it with water. "Here you go. Is there anything else I can do for you?" He was a little worried, but Ed tried to not let it show. He didn't want to make her more annoyed with him.

Kitchens were always interesting to her, considering she was an inventor and kitchens were full of incredible appliances. Muggles had a way of making things more than wizards did, she felt, because they needed to compensate for not having magic. She had always been impressed with that aspect about them. Finally, she saw it. A window that was right over a tall bush. Of course the muggle guards would know this was a weak point, but Addilyn still looked out the window to take note of where it was on the grounds. She turned to look at Edmund as he spoke, smiled, and held a hand out. "That should be enough."
But she never reached the glass, She fell backward, as she slipped out of her daze and back into herself.

Addi was being weird. There was no other way around it. Ed didn't know what was going on and she obviously wasn't going to tell him, but he was worried. She reached to take the glass of water from his hand, saying that it should be enough and Edmund nodded. He hadn't really expected a different answer, though it didn't stop his worry.
The next thing he knew, Addi was falling. He shoved the glass toward a nearby table, dropping it as he hurried to try and catch her. He didn't even hear the glass shatter to the side of him. Somehow, he actually caught her before she hit the floor. "Addi! Are you okay? Hey, wake up!" He muttered, hoping that something wasn't seriously wrong with her. What in the world was going on?

Edmund caught her and as he spoke she blinked. What... Oh no. She looked up at Edmund, then tried to move aside. "It's nothing, it's nothing. Just dizzy. I have to go," she argued, her eyes brimming with tears. She pushed away from him, standing up and straightening out her shirt. She kept her eyes downcast, not looking at him as she tried to gather her wits. "I'm sorry, I'm not feeling really great. It's just a headache. I should get headed back home," once she wasn't feeling so flustered she could apparate out of there. Wait, could she? The castle probably had protections. So instead she started to head for the door.

Okay, something was definitely going on with Addi. Ed didn't quite know what it was, but she'd almost passed out and she seemed very confused and emotional. He looked down at her, confused with worry in his eyes. "Addi, are you sure? You know you can talk to me about whatever's going on," he encouraged, trying not to be pushy. He didn't want to make her upset, but this wasn't normal behavior from her, which definitely worried him. She stood up, moving away from him a bit and Ed watched her closer. "I can take you home," Ed offered, moving to try and catch up with her. "I don't want something to happen to you on the way, especially if you're not feeling well." He stepped a little closer, trying to catch her eyes. "Please Addi? You know I'd love to help you get home." He cared about her. She knew that, even though they hadn't really talked about it. He just wanted to make sure she was all right and got home safely.

He asked if she was sure, saying that she could talk to him about whatever was going on. She felt terrible about not saying anything, she wasn't sure if she could explain. Still, she kept moving at first. When he got up and caught up to her, saying he would want to take her home, she stopped and turned to face him. Her gaze softened and a small, but forced smile took place on her lips. She lifted a hand and gently pressed it to Edmunds cheek. "Yeah," she spoke softly, "taking me home would be nice, thank you." Normally she would wait until she was away from muggle eyes and then apparate, but she wasn't quite feeling well enough to do so.
She moved her hand from his face, sliding it down to cup the side of his neck instead. She held on a little firmly, pouting her lips. "I'm sorry I can't stay for the rest of the event... Maybe I should have a glass of water before we go," she didn't have to run out on him completely, right?

Ed couldn't help but feel relieved when Addi stopped and actually looked at him. She wasn't angry at him, was she? He exhaled and smiled when she agreed that he could take her home. "Thanks Addi," he answered. He was worried about her. He didn't want her to really know that, but he was nervous. He smiled over at her. "You came. I don't mind if you have to go a bit sooner than we expected." He smiled over at her. "Let's go get you some water," he said, reaching to take her free hand and lead her back to the kitchen. "You sure you're okay?"

He thanked her, saying he was glad that she came in general and that he didn't mind that she had to leave. His smile was nice, but didn't help her feel much better like she hoped it would. She let him take her hand, trying to smile at him but it was still so sake. He led her toward the kitchen, asking if she was sure she was okay. "Ed," she stopped, pulling her hand back, "I'm not okay," she swallowed hard. "Something's been happening to me. For almost a year now, I..." she looked around, shaking her head, "can't talk about this here."

Edmund could tell that something was wrong with Addi. They'd been best friends for years now, he should be able to notice these sorts of things. The problem was, he didn't know what was wrong, and he didn't know how to get her to tell him what it was. So he was trying to pretend like everything was fine, even though it definitely wasn't. Then she pulled her hand out of his, saying she wasn't okay. Edmund watched her carefully, nodding slowly. He opened his mouth to ask her what she was talking about, but she was already saying she couldn't talk about it here. "After we get your drink? Can we go somewhere we can talk?" He wasn't sure if Addi wanted to talk about whatever was bothering her, but he wanted to be there for her.

Addi had forgotten about the water all together. Her mind was going a million miles a minute. Once they were in the kitchen and she was sipping on the cool liquid, she slowly shifted from panicked to problem solving. The gears turned in her head, trying to know if something triggered the blackout, trying to recall what her thoughts were during it. Nothing was coming up. After a long sip, draining the glass, she set it down on the bar on the kitchen island and gave a firm nod. "Okay. The safest place is actually in the tent, I think. All those people and animals. Muggles," she nodded. "It'll be hard to be over heard... And then at least we can use the animals as a distraction if it tries to come back," she suggested, barely making eye contact with Edmund as she thought through the plan. Then she looked to him, eyes softening. "I'm sorry for being so weird."

Addilyn was quiet for so long that Ed wondered if maybe she changed her mind. Maybe she didn't want to talk about this at all and she was just trying to come up with some way to tell him that. She got her drink, thinking as she sipped it and Ed tried to focus on taking deep breaths, or focusing on the painting in the room. Anything that would keep him from asking her questions before she was ready. Then she spoke and his attention shifted back to her immediately. He nodded slowly. "Okay, let's go to the tend then. Quickly?" he was already reaching to take her hand, if she'd let him. Things were weird enough already, he didn't want to make anything worse somehow. He smiled, trying to lighten the mood. "You do love animals. I'm sure they'll be a good distraction." Ed shook his head at her apology, "Don't worry about it Addi. You're fine."He led her out the back door and around to the tent again, glancing at her as they approached. "Lead the way," he suggested. He wasn't quite sure where to go with things from here.

Addi did not let Edmund take her hand. He reached out and she brought her hands to the front of her and clasped her own hands together. He spoke of the animals, how she loved them, and she just nodded. "Yeah, I know," she said softly. He told her she was fine when she apologized, and somehow that made her feel worse. She didn't want to have to apologize for anything. She wanted her life to be a lot more simple than it was. To just hang out with friends, Edmund, be Head Girl, all that.
Finally they were back at the tent and Addi stepped close to Edmund. She breathed a sigh of relief at all the noise, comforting her from her own thoughts. She moved to link her arm through his so they would be standing close to one another. Then, she spoke in a hushed tone. "Do you remember, Christmas... two years ago, when I wasn't really around much?" she started. "I was... somewhere else. I don't know where, but when I came back something was different. I've been... forgetting things. Parts of the day, stuff like that," she squeezed his arm tightly.

Ed's stomach sank when Addi pulled her hand away. He bit the inside of his cheek, trying not to let her see how much that hurt. He didn't know what was going on, didn't know how to be supportive of whatever this was, but he was trying. He wanted to be there for her, for as long as she wanted him, which didn't seem like it would be long at all. She barely spoke, and Ed had the feeling that she didn't really want to talk, so he nodded and let the conversation die as they walked. His mind raced, trying to figure out if he'd done anything to make her upset with him, but he couldn't figure it out. Honestly, he wasn't sure if he wanted to.
Once they were at the tent she moved closer to him, linking their arms. His eyes widened, but he didn't say anything. Just walked around with a silly forced smile so no one would think something was wrong. Ed listened carefully as she started to explain what was going on, talking about how she wasn't around for Christmas that one year and how something happened. His eyebrows furrowed. "You ... were taken somewhere? Do you totally forget- wait. Is that what just happened a few minutes ago?" he asked softly, worried. Please, no. He didn't want something to be wrong with Addi. Ed just wanted things to be good with her.
