Another day at Saint Mungos, just like any other. Ophelia had been called away twice that day to help a grieving family who had lost their grandfather to smallpox, and had to lie down for awhile afterwards. She was glad though, because she gave his wife and children peace. It would be the kindness she wished could have been offered to her when her mother died. She would never forget the black abyss she had fallen into the day they lowered her into the ground. Ophelia still visited her mothers' grave every year to place their favorite flowers, white lilies, on her tombstone. She knew that her mother was somewhere in the spirit world, watching over her and her child that had never gotten to take the breath of life into her little lungs. Lydia and Lydia, together and at peace. It was what kept Ophelia going all this time, especially after Dakota had up and left. She had heard from him a few times since he'd left for the continent, but after awhile the letters grew further apart, until one day they stopped altogether. She had wondered if she should ask Callisto or Mina if he was alright, but they had their own lives; she didn't need to burden them if there was nothing to worry about. Feeling refreshed after her break, Ophelia walked back towards her post, and stopped short. Callisto was there, and it looked like she was waiting for her. "Callisto! This is a surprise, I thought you had the day off," she said brightly, glad to see her friend. She drew closer, her smile curious. "Is everything alright?" she asked, cocking her head to one side. She hoped Mina hadn't wound up in some sort of trouble, not that it would be the first time of course. @callisto

Well, now that her family knew about Dakota there was really only one other person that Callisto felt an obligation to fill in. She went down to the Welcome Desk at the Hospital even though she had the day off, but Ophelia wasn't there. She scrunched her eyebrows together and turned looked around, wondering how long the brunette had been gone. She asked one of the other employees to keep an eye on the desk so she could whisk Ophie aside when she arrived. It didn't take long at all for Ophie to turn the corner and approach. She greeted Callisto and asked if everything was alright. Cals face revealed it all, no - everything wasn't. "I got someone to cover for you," she paused, "can you take a walk with me?"Ophelia Mae Teller

Ophelia was curious at the expression on Callisto’s face. Something was clearly not well. Her immediate thought was Mina - was everything alright with her friend? Was she in trouble? Or perhaps Sebastian, maybe he had taken ill. The brunette’s face furrowed slightly, and she nodded at Cal’s question. “Of course, I’d be happy to,” she said, gesturing for her to lead the way. The pair walked in silence for a few minutes, varying scenarios running through Ophelia’s head. Finally when they were a good ways away from the desk, Ophie turned to face Callisto. “Okay, you’re making me nervous - what happened? Is it Mina? Sebastian?” she asked, the questions tumbling out of her mouth one after the other. She crossed her arms in front of her, waiting for Callisto to fill her in on whatever was going on. @callisto

Ophelia said she was happy to walk with her and Cal nodded, not smiling or anything. She didn't want to give false hope or a happy impression. Ophelia asked what was going on, saying that Cal was making her nervous. Callisto was glad she spoke first, otherwise she might have not been able to speak at all herself. She still walked a little further in silence before clearing her throat, "I've come to tell you Dakoda is gone," she said swiftly, not looking over at Ophie yet. "Not gone as in out of the country. He's dead, Ophelia," she said firmly, and finally stopped walking, turning to look at her. "I'm sorry."Ophelia Mae Teller

Ophelia stopped in her tracks and looked at Callisto, dumbfounded. “What?” she said, her voice louder than she had intended it to be. A faint buzzing started up and the edges of Ophelia’s vision blurred. Did Callisto really just say those words? Dakota was dead? As in, deceased, buried, never coming home? No, that couldn’t be right. Dakota was strong, he was a werewolf, it was so hard to kill him. “I f this is some sort of joke because Dakota doesn’t want to see me anymore, it’s not funny,” she snapped, trying to shake the buzz out of her head. It just didn’t make any sense; he had just gone off to the continent to play Quidditch and get away from the tragedy they had endured together. Was Ophelia angry when he left? Yes, of course she had been, who wouldn’t have been? But the longer they were apart the more she had realized it was the right decision for them. She had told him so, in a letter. Had he even gotten it? Ophelia took several deep breaths, gulping down the air so she could focus better. “H-how?” she asked, damning the fact that her voice was wobbling. She would not be weak, Koda’s memory deserved better than a weeping girl. She was stronger than that now. @callisto

Cal should have known better than to not assume that Ophelia would go into shock. It was clear that she was already starting to falter, so when she finally got around to asking 'how?' Callisto summoned the nearest chair closer to them and pulled a water bottle from her bag. She gestured toward the chair behind Ophie now, not daring to touch her. Sometimes being touched would send someone in this situation into a panic. She would definitely not joke about her brother's death, but she knew Ophelia didn't mean it. She would know that Cal would never joke about something like that, and didn't really make jokes at all. She held the water bottle out to her but still didn't touch her. "He was killed," Callisto explained. "The details are fuzzy, but someone had it out for him." Why couldn't she bring herself to tell Ophelia who it was? Was she protecting Sarah? Ophelia Mae Teller

Ophelia collapsed into the chair and took the water from Callisto. She unscrewed the bottle cap and drank like a woman dying of thirst. Perhaps she thought she would drown her sorrows if she drank enough water, she didn’t know. All she knew was this felt like the gut punch of a century. For all his flaws, she had truly loved Dakota, and couldn’t imagine a world without his impish grin in it. At the mention of how he died, Ophelia’s head snapped up. “You’re saying he was murdered,” she said flatly, her eyes not leaving Callisto's face. A new emotion began to boil and bubble inside her, mixing with the grief and sorrow she was feeling. Rage. “You mean your sister, Sarah. Don’t try and tell me she isn’t capable of such things, we both know she’s a killer,” she said venomously, the now empty water bottle collapsing as her grip on it grew tighter. The more she allowed the thought into her mind, the more it made sense. Both the eldest Oliviera siblings were werewolves, and while Koda had resisted the more animalistic urges of his condition, Sarah had welcomed them. It would not surprise her in the least if Sarah had something to do with Koda’s death. “I would stake my life that that bitch had something to do with it,” she spat, eyes ablaze with anger. This was a side of Ophelia that nobody had seen before, much less herself. And to her surprise, she did not fear it. No, she welcomed it. Let them see what she was capable of if you dared to push her far enough. @callisto

Callisto let Ophelias emotions run through and show themselves. She expected something big, but rage wasn't exactly something she'd seen on the woman before. She waited quietly, eyes focused on Ophie who was focused on her. Callisto just gave a short nod at the mention of Sarah and how Ophie staked her life that she had something to do with it. She felt her throat catch again, like it had every time she'd talked about this. Should she tell Ophelia about the pictures Sarah had sent her? Callisto shook her head and looked away, not sure how to speak again. She had dealt with her won stages of grief, of course, but Ophelia seemed to be taking them in a different order... or, at least, very quickly. Ophelia Mae Teller

If Ophelia were a dragon, she would be shooting flames at that tiny nod Callisto had given her. It confirmed her suspicion was true, though even if Callisto had denied it Ophie wouldn’t have believed her. This had Sarah written all over it after all. After a few moments of silence, Ophelia stood back up, taking a deep breath as she did. “Thank you Callisto, for telling me,” she said, her tone polite, concealing the rage she felt underneath. “I must be returning to my duties, I am meeting the Mediwizard team in an hour to go over my training schedule.” Ophelia turned on her heel and walked away, looking down at her shaking hands as she did so. Sarah would pay for this, no matter what Ophelia had to do, Sarah would pay. @callisto end Ophie, feel free to add in another post if you want or we can call it fin!
