Rachel was definitely surprised to see the hesitation on Travis' face. She knew him. Well, she knew him better than anyone else on this continent ... maybe better than anyone else period, she wasn't entirely sure on that. The point was, she was used to the confident Travis who didn't care how anyone else reacted, he just did what he wanted. But now she could sense the hesitation. She understood it, since she was nervous about going back into the real world, but she hadn't expected Travis to feel it too. She nodded when he agreed about pickpocketing. Neither one of them wanted to do anything to draw attention to themselves.
He agreed to her idea of tricking the muggles, saying that might work and Rachel shrugged. "I'm good doing whatever you think is best," she answered softly. Honestly, she wasn't sure what to do. She wanted to have food. Part of her wanted to just steal a ton and then hide until it died down, but she didn't want the attention, just like Travis didn't.
He finally sat down and Rachel moved to sit beside him. "I think we should keep this our home base, but anytime we leave we should go somewhere else instead of coming straight back here, just in case someone is following us," she suggested. She took his hand, pulling it in front of her and studying it as she muttered, "I know it'll take some time for us to get back into the swing of things," she started slowly, wondering if he'd hate her bringing this up, "but as long as we're together, we can figure it out together, yeah?" Rachel glanced up at him, hoping that talking about it wouldn't strike a nerve. She wanted Travis to know that she wasn't going to judge him for not jumping straight back in and wondered if he'd realize that was what she was trying to say.

Travis was always the brains behind the operation, but now everything felt so new. He didn’t feel like he could get away with things like he used to. His reckless confidence had worn off once he earned a life sentence to Azkaban. It was earned and what he honestly deserved. With the amount of innocent lives he’d stolen from magical folk and muggles alike, he wasn’t ever supposed to see daylight again, so he wasn’t going to mess this up with this precious second chance.
After hearing Rachel’s input and how she felt about things, it seemed that she was feeling less confident in their skills too. Travis wasn’t sure what to do for the first time in his life and his face showed it. His jaw clenched, nodding his head when she said that they should stick together. He definitely agreed to that. ”We will do this together.” he said, not entirely confident in the words spilling from his lips, but he’d make it happen. ”I agree that we should always go somewhere else first so that we cant be followed or tracked.” Travis said, allowing him to look down at the blonde. His appearance was sunken and he was pale, but the look on his face was soft, somehow. Travis took a step toward Rachel, feeling vulnerable in that moment, although he didn’t want to hide it from her. Rachel was the only person he had, without her, he was alone in the world. Travis pulled her toward him, seeking body contact. ”I don’t know what I would do if you hadn’t gotten out. This all feels like a dream. I can’t believe we’re out.”

Travis' firm nod when Rachel commented that they should stay together was more of a relief than it should have been. Rachel knew he cared for her. That was obvious from when she'd entered the abandoned house and when he saw how thin she was, still she worried about it. She didn't know how to stop. She gave the smallest of smiled when he agreed that they would stay together. He wasn't offended! He agreed with her plan for going somewhere else before coming back here. It was almost like every time he agreed with her, Rachel was able to relax a little more, feel a little bit more useful or something.
He looked down at her then and Rachel met his gaze, still hardly believing that they were together. They weren't ever supposed to get out of their cells, much less be able to see and touch one another again. This was all forbidden, yet somehow it was happening. He moved closer to her and Rachel didn't move. At least, she didn't move until he pulled her closer. Once he did that, she melted against him, closing her eyes and nuzzling her face against his chest a little. He was really here, right? She tightened her grip when he mentioned that he didn't know what he'd do if she hadn't gotten out. Rachel let out a half-laugh, "I'm sure you would have figured something out." Travis was smart, strong and independent. He would have been fine without her, though she wouldn't come outright and say that. Maybe he'd think she was saying that he'd have found a way to get her out. "I can't believe it either though. I'm terrified that I'm going to wake up back in my cell." Rachel shivered at the thought. If that happened, she truly would lose her mind. She couldn't go back, even if this was just a dream.

There had never been a time that Travis wanted human body contact, but in this moment he was really enjoying it. He never thought he'd be holding Rachel in his arms again, so he'd bask in the moment. She nuzzled against his chest and sweetly told him that he would have figured something out. Probably. He knew that. Travis was glad it didn't come down to that. He felt lucky for the first time in his crappy life.
Travis shook his head at her when she shuddered, explaining that she keeps thinking about waking up back in her cell. "That's not going to happen..." he cupped her face, reassuring her with a look before planting a kiss on her lips, lingering for a moment. "Lets get some breakfast.." he told her, already forming a plan in his head. They could easily dine and dash for now... All they had to do was disappear to the bathroom of the restaurant and apparate.

Rachel never wanted to move. She knew, realistically, that she and Travis couldn't stay this way forever, but she wanted to. She wanted to stay exactly where she was right now, memorize the feel of his arms around her again, the feel of his breath on her hair. She didn't want to have to try and live without him again. She wasn't sure if she could. He promised that she wouldn't end up in the cells again before kissing her gently and Rachel kissed him back, prolonging the moment a bit. She could have stayed there for the rest of the day, ignoring her hunger and everything else that felt strange and wrong right now. As long as she was with Travis, things were right. However, when he ended the kiss, he suggested they go get breakfast, a small smirk appearing on his face. A familiar smirk that told Rachel he had some sort of plan. "Okay, let's go get some food," she agreed easily. Whatever he had planned, she trusted him. As long as they were together- like he promised they would be- she was happy. --- the end --- @travis
