September xx 2024 Hogwarts Courtyard
Simon's broom slung lazily over his shoulder, bobbing behind him as he made his way toward the quidditch pitch. As the Gryffindor cut through the courtyard, he froze at the sound of his best friend Rosie's voice from the opposite side of the courtyard filling his ears. Her tone was what drew him in to begin with. They weren't whispering so it was easy to eavesdrop on the conversation from afar.
“You still mad, Carol?” Rosie asked, a shit-eating grin spreading across her face.
“Shut up.” The Slytherin girl growled, rolling her eyes in disdain.
“Would love to see ya try and make me." Rosie snorted without a beat, matching the eyeroll.
To be fair, the other girl, Carol, was trying to ignore her. However, ignoring Rosie only made her act out more in most cases. Simon was frozen as he watched from afar with a weird mixed feeling of dread and excitement.
And like magic... Carol shut her up. Temporarily. She took a step toward Rosie and pushed her straight into a bush with one forceful shove to the chest, which was more comical than violent. Rosie fell into the bush back first, snapping twigs as they gave out to her body impact, legs flying upwards into the air uncontrollably.
An inferno was instantly triggered inside of Rosie, Simon could sense it from where he was standing, the look on her face was also a great indicator. She reacted with a swift kick to the girls bum, still laying across the bush facing upwards. The girl screamed, hitting the ground with another cry, but her friends intervened, immediately swarming Rosie with echoed footsteps and the sound of fists making contact. More twigs snapping.
Simon rushed over to the girls with impressive agility, throwing himself into the ring of fire. The smell of blood filled his nostrils before he saw his best friends face.
"STOP!" was the only word that escaped Simons mouth, but it was effective. All three girls froze. Staring at Simon with an unbroken concentration. Simon swallowed, raising his hands between them. "Just. Stop. Please." he pled, face faltering before going back to its neutral state when he realized they were staring at him. The fighting girls blinked a few times, taking a cautious step back, seemingly confused at how calming the tone of his voice was. He kind of felt like that Muggle Dog Whisperer guy for a second. His lips tugged upwards ever so slightly, "Thanks, ladies." he drawled, yanking Rosie out of the bush, she staggered to her feet with a nonchalant shrug.
"I didn't need your help." she grumbled, her nose spewing blood. Leaves were stuck in her hair, forming a proper birdnest.
"You need a leash." Simon deadpanned, "You're a pitbull trapped in a chihuahua's body. What the hell is wrong with you?" he asked her gruffly in disbelief, trying to ignore the warm blood oozing from her nose. There was a weird part inside of him that desired to lick the blood from her face, but that would have been extremely weird.
"I'm lightheaded." she admitted, knocking into Simon. "Carry me please." she demanded. And Simon did. He picked her up from under her legs with ease and looped her arm behind his neck. Simon rushed her to the hospital wing where she could clean herself up and get an elixir for the pain. The nurse had her questions about the girls condition, but Simon politely lied, explaining he was only helping his friend to the hospital wing. Rosie could figure out her own story since she was being an idiot.
As Simon started to exit the hospital wing, he looked down at his hands, they were covered in her blood. He was struck with sudden curiosity on what Rosie tasted like. Simon licked the back of his hand without hesitation. She tasted amazing. Clenching his jaw afterwards at the realization that someone could have seen him do that, Rosie included, he turned on his heel and started for the opposite side of the hospital wing to get a blood fix.
