Ash,
So, I know I'll see you in less than a week, but I promised I'd write and to be honest, it's kind of helpful. Dad burned the turkey, cause he wouldn't let my sister cook. He said it's what 'dad's are supposed to do', but I think he just doesn't like the idea of us needing to take care of him. I know, it's ridiculous. Like my sister wasn't the one cooking dinner for months after mum disappeared. I guess he's finally decided to play both parts. Sorry, I'm being such a downer, but I just wish you were here. I know I could make you laugh and we could eat ice cream for dinner and whatever. I hope your Christmas is better than mine. I got Bean a new bed and some catnip, and she's happy. I wrapped your present too... See you soon!
Love, Eli.

Eli,
I'm so glad you wrote, even though we are going to see one another soon. It's always nice to be able to talk to you, and I'm glad that writing helps you too. Sorry the turkey got burned, that's definitely not a highlight of the break. What was your favorite part of spending the day with your family? You don't have to apologize for any of it. I'm glad you can tell me how you really feel. Honestly, I wish I could have seen you Christmas day too. You always make it so easy to have a good time and laugh (and I really couldn't say no to ice cream for dinner, so don't tempt me!) My Christmas was actually pretty good. I think my parents missed Joe and me more than normal because they didn't take us to a million parties like normal. We spent most of the day together (which got a little suffocating, but in a good way). Then that night we went to one party. My dad's boss was throwing it, so he felt like we needed to go. If I'm being totally honest, it was boring. I kept wishing you could be there to make it more fun. Haha, so I wanted you here too. Not going to lie, it did make me excited for the New Year's Party. Are you still planning on coming? Love, ~AshElijah Theron Fleming

Ash,
It's no biggie about the turkey. We got over it. I'm just being dramatic ha! I think my favourite part was just watching old movies. It's a tradition, cause mom loved Muggle Christmas videos so we have a big collection. Dad got rid of a bunch after she was gone, but he kept the best ones. Have you ever seen that old movie Elf? It's ridiculous, I love it.
You always say that... That I make it easy, and I never really get it. I just always think that it's easy because we're together, you know? A team effort! I wish I'd thought of ice cream for dinner though. Before dad burned the turkey. You can't burn ice cream! Next year... I'm glad your holiday was good, and that makes sense, you're a whole ocean away now. Did you miss the parties? Did you miss the singing? I would stick out like a gnome at an elf's birthday party! But you're right, we'd have had a laugh... until they kicked us out! Yeah, I can't wait for the New Years bash, I've heard Fontaine's know how to party...
Love, Eli.

Eli,
That sounds cool, watching a bunch of Christmas movies together. We don't have any traditions like that. Actually ... I'm not really sure we own any Christmas movies. We watch some of them on TV, but I don't really know what they're called. What's Elf about? Maybe if I haven't seen it yet we could watch it together sometime ... but maybe we'd have to wait a year or something. Not sure we have enough time for that this year, haha. I've never thought of it as a team effort. It's just so easy to relax and have fun when I'm around you and it isn't like that when I'm with most other people, so I always just assumed it was you. I like the idea of it being a team effort though. Haha, I'm not sure how your family would feel about ice cream for dinner. Not everyone likes it as much as me.(and you too it seems! Apparently my guilty pleasure is contagious) I didn't really miss the parties. They're fun and all, but it was nice to relax more and spend time with my family (even though we didn't really know what to do for some of it) To be honest, I'm kind of glad I don't have to sing this year. It's nice to have a break and be able to blend into the crowd and do what I want, if that makes sense. They wouldn't kick us out! I'd see what I could do to help keep our shenanigans a secret so no one would even know. New Year's is going to be so much fun! I'm really excited for that one. Love, ~AshElijah Theron Fleming

Ash,
I highly suggest you invest in some of the great no-maj movies! They pass time like nothing else and it gives you something to talk about with no-maj's and stuff you know? Elf is sort of like a comedy I guess? It's this big no-maj guy who gets adopted or something by Santa Claus's elves (bear with me here) so he thinks he's one of them but he's like 6 foot tall! So he goes on this quest to find his birth parents. It's really sweeter than it sounds. But you can totally watch it whenever, not just as Christmas. Sometimes it cheers me up you know? Happy endings are underrated. It's definitely a team effort for us, you know. We're good together. I think I like ice cream so much because you like it? You opened my eyes ha! So yeah, I'd definitely say it's contagious. That makes total sense to me, needing a break sometimes. It must be hard having to perform all the time. I'd get so tired. I can't wait for New Years, too! I've been thinking about it since you asked. Do you think you can save me a dance?
Love, Eli.

Eli,
How am I supposed to know which ones are great if I've never seen them? I might need some help on that front, you know ... have any ideas of someone that would be willing to help me out? Okay, Elf definitely sounds interesting. I'll have to check that out sometime, see how much it can cheer me up. I like happy endings though. Makes me feel more positive toward life and such. Not that I'm super negative normally! Ugh ... I don't know how to say what I'm trying to. Don't judge me too harshly. Haha I'm glad I could show you the joys of ice cream. You'll be able to enjoy it a whole lot more now, you know. Ice cream is always worth it. I'm glad you can understand a bit and I'm so happy you're excited for New Years! It's going to be so much fun! Also, I will definitely be saving more than one dance for you. You're the only person I asked to come in person, you know. I'm excited to have you actually come. Love, AshleyElijah Theron Fleming

Ash,
You make a very good point. I guess the internet is your friend there? There are a ton of huge sites dedicated just to great, classic movies. I haven't really looked myself. My mom was my internet. She could talk for days about old movies. It was the best. Let me know what you think! It has a happy ending. Wouldn't be Christmas without one, right? Stop worrying, I get what you mean. I feel the same way sometimes. I would never judge you. I didn't know I was the only person you asked in person. That makes me feel special, ha ha. I can't wait to see you.
Love, Eli.

Eli,
Wow ... so you aren't even offering to be my friend and help me out? Fine, I guess the internet and I shall fend for ourselves. Just watch me come back to school and know more about classical muggle movies than you. You'll definitely be hearing about it! I can't wait to watch Elf. (also, really hoping you know me well enough to be able to tell when I'm teasing even through a letter) Haha, well you are one of my closest friends, so I'm glad you feel special. I can't wait either! Love, ~Ash

Ash,
If I'd known you wanted a spirit guide I'd have offered my services, obviously. Let me be your movie Yoda (look it up haha!). You know how to charm a guy, sure. You better have watched it before I see you at that party! Otherwise, you'll have me to answer to. See ya soon!
Love, Eli.

Eli,
Don't you worry, I found the movie and I'm going to watch it tonight. Also, why wouldn't I want your guidance?! You obviously know more about movies than I do, which means you could keep me from watching tragic failures, and we could enjoy the good ones together. Sounds like a pretty amazing plan to me. Love, ~Ash
P.S. I looked up Yoda. What is so important about a tiny green alien? I don't get it ... you're probably going to have to explain that to me at some point. Or watch those Star Wars movies with me. I'd be fine with either! Elijah Theron Fleming --- the end ---
