January xx 2025(first week back from winter break) Simon was sitting on a bench casually with his back against the forth floor corridor wall, his body facing all directions so that he could see if anyone was coming his way while doing his sketchier acts. Usually his senses were good enough where he'd be able to hear footsteps coming his way, but it was good for him to be faced the same direction as anyone coming. His fingers were working quickly as he stealthy rolled a spliff in his lap, the forth floor corridor being his preferred location to roll up since he could smoke it in the owlery. That was the only plan on his agenda today since classes were completed for the day. There was no way he was going to be doing homework, he was over it already being back at Hogwarts after a week. The Lion was over his classes, he hated school, hated studying. Simon was a jaded student and wanted to start his next chapter in life already, even though he had no idea what he wanted to do, other than being a tattoo artist.
Not many students resided in the forth floor corridor unless if they were using the library, or had Arithmancy class. Many students strayed away due to the resident poltergeist Peeves, however, Peeves was cool in Simons book and he'd often search him out or talk to him.
Before Simon was finished rolling his spliff...foot steps could be heard quickly approaching, but he wasn't done yet... so he nonchalantly licked it closed, twisted the ends with pinched fingers, pretending like what he was doing wasn't wrong, and praying deep down it wasn't a Professor or someone else of authority. His blue eyes lifted from his work, shoving the evidence into his pocket and sitting straighter on the bench as he awaited for someone to appear, wondering if they had seen anything.

Mazie honestly just wanted to have fun. She wanted to meet more people and explore this fascinating castle. Granted, it got a little annoying with all the homework the professors were piling on. Did they really have to give so much the first week? It wasn't fair, especially for someone like her who struggled with the whole "essays and reading" part of school. Yes, that was the main part, but that wasn't important. However, at the moment Mazie wasn't worrying about her classes or schoolwork. All she wanted to do was explore. Rather, she wanted to find someone to take her around. She didn't really have anyone in mind, she just wanted to find someone who wasn't busy. She walked around the castle determinedly, definitely looking the part of a woman on a mission. When she turned a corner on the forth floor to see a guy sitting there all alone, not doing anything but looking a little guilty, she grinned. She walked over to him. The guy looked a little familiar. He was in Gryffindor robes ... maybe he was the same year as her? She wasn't sure. Still, she gave him a bright smile. "Hi! I'm Mazie. You busy?" Her eyes held a challenge in them. The guy didn't look busy. Normally she would've just grabbed him and dragged him along, but she wanted to make a good impression. simon sixten svendsen

January xx 2025(first week back from winter break) Simon was slightly taken aback by this girl. He wasn't used to people introducing themself in such a friendly fashion... she must have been American. Actually, the accent was a dead giveaway there. Then, her asking him if he were 'busy' caused him to cock his head to the side. That was weird. Usually people didn't ask unless if it was accompanied by seeking some sort of favor. Simon didn't know this girl, but she was cute, so he'd give her his precious spliff smoking time.
"Hello, Mazie." he greeted in a thick Swedish accent, his lips pulling into a small smile. "I'm Simon." he told her, pushing himself off of the concrete bench and standing tall with his shoulders back. He felt his inside pocket of his coat, making sure he didn't smush his goods. "Not really." he admitted honestly. "Do you need something?" Simon asked with a small laugh. This year he had been helping transfer girls wherever they needed to be, if they asked, or looked desperate. Simon had a soft spot for girls. Especially pretty ones.
Simon's icy blue eyes met her tie, which could have easily been an awkward gaze toward her chest, but he noticed she was a Gryffindor - like him. If she were in his house, close to his year, he would have surely noticed her. Or so he thought. "You're a Gryffindor? Where the hell have you been hiding? I've never seen you around." he declared playfully with a furrowed brow.

Ooooh he had a fun accent. Granted, everyone here had that proper British accent, but his was different, which was something that Mazie appreciated. At least she wasn’t the only one here sounding different. Then again, all the other American students were here, so that wasn’t really an issue to begin with. Either way, she smiled when he introduced himself as Simon and rose to his feet. He was taller than she was, which was fine by her. She didn’t really care. He said that he wasn’t busy and her smile widened and she nodded enthusiastically. “Yup! I need someone to show me around this place. Sorry Simon, but you’ve been volunteered by fate,” she announced with a cheerful laugh, reaching forward to grab his arm, pulling him as she turned and started to head … well, she didn’t actually know where she was going. Ugh, how annoying. The next thing she knew, he was demanding to know where she’d been, since she was a Gryffindor. She laughed cheerfully, “Show me around the grounds and I’ll tell you. Otherwise, it’ll be a mystery how you’ve missed me all these months,” she shrugged her shoulders flirtatiously, the smirk plain on her face. She couldn’t help it! Mazie was definitely enjoying taking people by surprise like this. This guy’s semi-extreme reaction made it even more fun. He looked about her age. It would be even funnier if they were in the same year, but maybe that was asking for too much. simon sixten svendsen

January xx 2025(first week back from winter break) This girl had an interesting energy about her. She was intriguing, and cute, so that was bonus. Simon couldn't remember the last time a stranger had stopped him and asked to hang out. Probably never. He suffered from RBF (Resting Bitch Face), which made him unapproachable to most kids his age.
The blonde grabbed his arm, which caused a laugh to slip past his lips as towed beside her easily. "Fate, huh?" he laughed again, shooting her straight face, "I don't think I wanna get in the way of fate." he said severely with a nod of the head. He allowed Mazie to lead for a second before he asked, "I could help with that... What would you like to see?" he asked her curiously, his feet dragging lazily behind him. Simon wasn't ever one to rush for anything.

Mazie laughed, shrugging when he questioned her "fate" idea. "Ehhh, I needed something to get your attention." Mazie winked, "Looks like it worked." At least, it worked enough that seconds later he was mentioning not wanting to get in the way of fate. Good! Really, she wanted to take the advantage of finding someone not busy to learn more about this place. "Everything!" She answered with a giggle at his question. Then she amended, "I don't know, what's the most interesting thing about this place. I've got to make up lost time." Well, she might as well tell him the truth. It wasn't like her not being here before was a secret or anything. Mazie sighed dramatically, "You see, I would have been here last semester, but instead I was forced into home-school for months. Now that I'm finally out, I intend to see all the things." All the quirks of this place, the forests, the lake, everything that she'd heard about and more. She quirked an eyebrow at the guy beside her, "You game or do I need to find a more adventurous Gryffindor?" Yes it was a challenge. She was interested to see how he'd respond to it. simon sixten svendsen

January xx 2025(first week back from winter break) Simon listened with interest when she shared where she had been all of this time. Home schooling. The thought made him chuckle. She seemed to have too much energy to be cooped up with parents all day. His eye brows raised upwards, "Just be glad you got out of homeschooling before it was too late... homeschool kids are f*ckin' weird!" Simon said unapologetically with a straight face. He could tell she wasn't weird in that sense, maybe in the more cool and quirky way, not socially awkward. He offered her a smile after the comment, knowing it could be rude, but he could tell by the way the girl carried herself she could take it.
This Mazie girl was interesting. She had an infectious energy about her that hooked Simon in. He really was game to give her a tour, or show her whatever she wanted. Simon cocked his head back and ruffled his curls with a hand coolly, "Well, it depends, Mazie.." he challenged her back, noticing the challenging look in her eyes and matching it, more playfully. He turned his body toward her, standing taller, "There's plenty of places we could explore in the castle, entries leading to somewhere, nowhere, and so on, but most of it's restricted." he warned, unphased, Simon loved sneaking around. "--or are you looking for the basic blasé tour, because I may not be fit for that, I've never been good at history..." he admitted, curious to see how she reacted. Mazie seemed like the thrill seeker type.

Mazie rolled her eyes when Simon told her to be glad she got out of homeschool before it was "too late." Then she laughed a little, "I wasn't always homeschooled," she explained patiently. "Up until the beginning of this last year I went to Ilvermorny. Then when it blew up," Mazie paused and shrugged her shoulders. "My parents flipped. They didn't want me anywhere that might be dangerous. So they kept me at home until my sister and I convinced them I needed to come here." She smirked a little, proud of herself, "I may have acted out more than usual ... to try and help persuade them." Really, most of her acting out was because she couldn't help herself. Mazie was a high-energy girl. Sticking her in a house and expecting her to stay there for a whole year was definitely asking too much. Especially when all her friends were in a whole other country, exploring things she desperately wanted to see. She watched Simon as he started to answer her challenge, curious to see what he'd come up with. She couldn't quite tell what kind of guy he was yet, but Mazie was willing to bet that he was the adventurous type. Especially if he was in Gryffindor with her. Surely, he could show her something worth her time. He mentioned that most of the cool places to explore were restricted and that he wasn't particularly suited for a "normal" tour. Mazie laughed, "Restricted is good, as long as it's exciting or secret. I like knowing things that not everyone knows, and since I missed out on a whole semester to explore ..." she trailed off suggestively. She wanted to see it all. Hopefully this guy would catch that. "Bet I'm game for everything you could possibly throw at me." There. That should be clear enough for him. simon sixten svendsen

January xx 2025(first week back from winter break) Well, this girl had the half vamps attention. She was very interesting. The way she explained being cooped up at home after Ilvermorny's explosion made him laugh. The blond seemed like she could be trouble, he kind of liked that. His lips tugged upwards into a half smirk, "That must have been torture, you don't seem like the home school-y type." Simon admitted with a chuckle, she could take that comment however she chose, he didn't mean it in a negative way; she seemed very high energy and probably enjoyed the stimulation of being around her peers.
Simon started in the direction of the moving staircases, "You're a Gryff." He stated knowingly, pointing at her tie, matching his. His icy blue eyes found hers to see if she were interested or not. "It's not ~restricted, per se.. but it's not known about by everyone. Especially transfers..." Simon said, trying to gauge if that interested her or not. "Do you know of the shortcut to the Gryfindor Tower?" he asked her, stopping in front of the moving staircase before it came toward them.

Mazie scrunched her nose, nodding in agreement when he suggested that it must have been torture to be stuck at home. "You have no idea. Pretty sure I was driving my parents crazy after half a day," she chuckled a little. She hadn't necessarily tried to be difficult, but Mazie really wasn't the type to sit around and her parents knew that. They shouldn't have tried to force her to, she thought. "Only took about an hour for me to start losing my mind." He pointed out that she was a Gryffindor and Mazie quirked her eyebrow sarcastically. "Well spotted," she muttered, smirking. What was his point about commenting on her house. She knew what house she was in. Her eyes lit up when he started to explain about a shortcut, her smirk turning into a grin. "I haven't. You gonna show me?" Mazie asked, barely restraining her excitement. She didn't want to scare him off before he showed her. If he was just teasing ... she'd pester him until he actually showed her the shortcut. She loved knowing things like this! simon sixten svendsen

January xx 2025(first week back from winter break) Simon guided the girl in the direction of the first floor corridor, chuckling at her tone when he mentioned that she was a Gryffindor. He rolled his eyes to the back of his skull playfully, finding her banter entertaining already. Simon liked her energy, she didn't seem like the kind of girl to play stupid to impress a guy. "I dunno, maybe if you're nice to me." he told her with a head bob, still leading her in the direction of the secret staircase. As they made it to the bottom of the revolving staircases, he waved for her to follow him, looking both ways before stopping in front of a tapestry enforced to the wall. "Make sure no one sees you because it's meant for teachers." he gave her the inside scoop, "And there's a trick step, so watch your step." Simon warned her, his voice too calm and vague for a 'trick' step.
The half vampire pulled the tapestry so that Mazie can walk first, being the gentleman that he was. He chuckled, noticing that this probably seemed like a trap. "It's dark but if you walk like ten steps, you'll find the first stair..."

He was already walking with her, leading her around when he said that he didn't know if he was going to show her the secret passage. "I'm always nice to everyone," she quipped instantly, though Mazie's eyes narrowed a little as she studied him, trying to figure out if she believed him or not. He definitely seemed like the kind of guy who did as he pleased, but he also seemed happy to be doing something fun. Hmmm, she was going to assume that he would show her. If he didn't ... well then she'd just have to find some way to annoy him until he did. Simon led her up to a tapestry, telling her to be careful no one saw her using this and to pay attention to the trick step. Huh, well that was definitely different and interesting. Mazie nodded to show she understood, not saying anything because she was too excited. He pulled the tapestry to the side and Mazie edged in, not bothering to use her wand to light the way. That would definitely take at least some of the fun out of it. She counted her steps as she walked in, but apparently he had really long legs. She got about thirteen steps before she hit the stair. Even though she was expecting it, Mazie still tripped. She squeaked as she fell to the ground, well ... to the stairs. She caught herself and chuckled as she started to sit up. "Well, that's definitely not my most graceful moment," she commented dryly, rolling her eyes at herself. It was a good thing she didn't mind others laughing at her, because Simon likely would. If not now, probably later during the adventure. simon sixten svendsen

January xx 2025(first week back from winter break) When Mazie declared that she's always nice to everyone, he gave her very suspect slits for eyes, "Yeah, mhmm, suuuure." he challenged her playfully, pretending like he didn't believe her. Simon was just messing around with the new girl. In their short encounter, she had already proven that she had a good sense of humor so he'd play along with her a bit. Simon could tell that she was no bully, she probably tried to make friends with everyone.
Simon heard her hit the floor, but it was too late for him to react. He let out a laugh and attempted to offer her a hand in the dark space. His eyes were already well adjusted; thanks for being half vamp, he was already practically nocturnal. "At least it wasn't the trick step." he snorted, making his way up the steps past her so that he could show her which one it was. The lanky teen scaled the stairs and stopped at the trick step, not really, "It's gonna be...this one." he gestured to a random stair, two steps above the real one -- to trick her. Simon loved to trick people, what better way than with a trick stair, with his new and adventurous American friend?

Mazie's jaw dropped when Simon doubted her saying that she was nice to everyone. "Hey! I can be mean to you, if that's what you want," she retorted back, challenge clear in her tone. Mazie wasn't really the mean type, unless someone really deserved it. She was pretty sure that Simon was just messing around and teasing her, so Mazie would do the same to him. What? If he could dish it out, then he should be able to take it as well, in her opinion. Like she expected, Simon laughed at Mazie's clumsy moment, but she didn't mind. She was chuckling at herself as well as she turned and took his hand so he could help her out. "There's a trick step?" She asked, delighted and a little wary. She'd already tripped on a normal step in the dark. That might not bode well for this little excursion. She smiled up at him when he told her which stair the trick stair was. "Thanks Si-" Mazie cut off as her foot sank into a different stair, all the way up to her knee. Mazie squealed, then started laughing. "You little sneak!" she accused, glaring up at him as she fought to pull herself from the stair. She couldn't blame him for tricking her. She'd do the same sort of thing if she had the chance. simon sixten svendsen

January xx 2025(first week back from winter break) Mazie walked right into the trick step, which made it hard for Simon not to let out a belly laugh. For some reason he wasn't sure if she'd fall for it or not, which was silly...he shouldn't have expected anything less for someones first time up the stairs...
"Sorry, I couldn't resist." he admitted with a chuckle, unable to hide the smile from spreading from his face now. Mazie handled it well, which was a further indicator that they would probably get along fine. The half vampire offered the blonde a hand of assistance out of the trick step after he reached the top of the stair.
Simon stepped forward so that he could lead her toward the opposite side of the tapestry, poking his head out first to make sure the coast was clear before gesturing for her to follow. As they stepped away from the ancient tapestry, he turned to Mazie, "You have officially traveled from the first floor, to the fifth floor with no pesky switching staircases... " he gestured his hands with unenthusiastic jazz hands. His blue eyes offered her a playful challenging lookover, "Try to keep this a secret, not many of the exchange kids know about it, so you're a lucky one." he told her with a slight smirk.
