Jess was starting to get really worried for her friend Rosie. The two hadn't known one another for a long time, but she considered the girl a friend. They often talked in the Daily Prophet Headquarters when they had a spare second and Jess was coming to really like the girl. When she'd gotten the assignments to go to another country, Jess was excited for her. Then, Rosie didn't come back. Jess didn't say anything the first day, figuring maybe she'd taken the day off or something, but it wasn't long before she was actually worried. She did a bit of digging and decided to go visit Rosie at her house. Jess just wanted to make sure she was okay, but she didn't know what to expect. She checked the address several times, hoping she'd written it down right as she approached the door, knocking sharply and hoping that Rosie was home. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie had returned from Russia yesterday, and she had called into work, explaining that she was sorry for her absence, and she was sick and needed a few more days. They understood. She was planning on going today and reporting the attack to the aurors office, and she knew that they would report it to the Prophet to warn the public about this new, hostile creature lurking within the hemisphere. She’d have to tell her boss, she thought, about her attack and that she was a vampire now. She’d have to return to work soon and it would be obvious to most people anyway. She figured it was probably policy that an employee disclose these things.
After Brandon forced her to the Hospital yesterday, Rosie was feeling a little better about the whole thing. It still scared her a lot, and she still felt extremely uncomfortable. But, at least now it was confirmed and the healers had advice for her about how to navigate it and how to curb her thirst using the Blood Flavored Lollipops in between human feeds. Rosie was sucking on while sitting in her living room when she heard the knock at the door. “Brandon?” she asked as she got up to unlock the door. She wasn’t expecting anyone else, she wasn’t even expecting Brandon, at least not right now, though she figured he would probably come by at some point tonight. She opened the door and saw the woman standing there. Jess. A coworker and a friend of hers. “Oh hey, sorry, I wasn’t expecting you, was I?” she asked, a wave of anxiety rushing over her. Rosie had changed physically, even if just a bit. Her normally tan skin was rather pale now and her teeth had morphed too. Maybe she wouldn’t notice, Rosie thought, maybe she wouldn’t be afraid.

Part of Jess honestly didn't expect any answer when she knocked on Rosie's door. The girl hadn't been to work, maybe she hadn't returned from her trip yet. Maybe something happened to her. Jess wasn't sure, but she missed her friend and wanted to make sure everything was all right with her, which was why she came to her house. She heard Rosie's muffled voice on the other side of the door and relief flooded through her. At least Rosie was here, which meant she had to be all right, didn't it? She opened the door and Jess' eyes widened a little. Rosie was pale and looked tired? Or was she just exhausted. She spoke and Jess shook her head quickly. "No, no you weren't. I just- you haven't been coming to work. I was worried so I thought I'd come by." Something was different about Rosie, but Jess didn't know what it was. "Are you okay?" She didn't want to impose, but she wanted to make sure her friend was okay. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie had many friends in the past, friends she loved with all of her heart and would fight for, even though she believed fighting was awful and she was bad at it. And Jess was quickly making her way up the ranks to that level of friendship with her. Rosie appreciated her stopping by, but felt bad for the reason that she had to. “Thanks for checking in. I’ve just been dealing with a healthy thing.” that was what she decided to call it until the shock wore off and the reality of the situation set in. “You can come in if you want…” she offered. Just yesterday she would have been afraid to see anyone, let alone invite them into her apartment, but she felt a lot better about it today. Now that she had a supply of blood flavored lollipops around to curve the thirst.

Rosie thanked her for coming, saying she was dealing with a health thing and Jess felt bad for bothering her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude or anything," she answered, smiling quickly to try and diffuse her guilt. Or the tension? Was there tension? She wasn't sure. She was about to say that she'd see Rosie at work when she was feeling better, then Rosie invited her in. Jess' eyes widened. "Are you sure? I don't want to bother you ..." But she did want to come in. She wanted to talk to Rosie and make sure everything was okay, though the girl looked pretty all right, she thought. rose harriet granger-weasley

“No no, you’re not intruding.” she promised. Rosie thought it was very sweet that Jess had decided to stop by to check in on her, it was something that Rosie would do if she hadn’t seen a friend in a while too. She knew that this was different since Rosie was a new creature now, but Rosie had been working over the past few days to get her thirst under control, and while it wasn’t all easy, right now, it was okay. She knew that she would need a lot of time and work to control her new...abilities… or curse… whichever… but she felt like, after her visit to st. mungos, she was making a good start. She stepped aside to Jess could enter and her eyes instantly went to the bag of blood flavored lollipops.

Jess smiled a little when Rosie insisted she wasn't intruding. Well good. Jess didn't want to cause a problem. She stepped inside Rosie's apartment, glancing around but not really paying attention to much of anything. "So are you okay? I've missed seeing you at work," Jess confessed. Maybe it wasn't the most professional way to go about it, but she had few friends at the Prophet. Well, she could talk to just about anyone, but didn't consider many of them actual friends. She moved to sit on the couch, turning to watch Rosie as she did so. rose harriet granger-weasley

Jess didn’t seem to notice the lollipops just sitting there on the coffee table and Rosie was kind of glad for that, but when Jess asked again if she was okay, Rosie had a thought come to her head: things weren’t okay, but they would be. And there was no point in pretending that things were okay. She needed to be honest and be herself, and this was who she was now. “Actually, the reason I didn’t come back to work right away was because I was attacked in Russia… that article was about me.” she told her friend, sitting on the couch as well. The daily prophet had posted the report of the vampire attack just yesterday when Rosie went and reported the incident and talked to her boss, saying that she was going to take the rest of the week to start to feel normal before coming back and facing the world as a vampire.

Rosie didn't answer her question right away, which was fine, but Jess was starting to wonder if everything really was okay with Rosie. Her friend hadn't come back from her trip on time, she hadn't been back to work since. Jess missed her and was worried, which was why she came here in the first place. She started to explain, saying she didn't come to work because she was attacked and that the article was about her. Jess' eyebrows furrowed for a moment as she thought. What article? Then it clicked and Jess' eyes widened. "You were attacked by a-" Jess cut herself off, feeling so bad for her friend. "Oh Rosie, I'm so sorry. What can I do to help? Do you need to talk about it or is there anything I can get for you?" Jess didn't want to make her friend feel bad about it or anything, but she wanted to make it sure that she was there for her. She waited a moment before a thought came to her. "Do you need me to leave?" she asked. Jess didn't want to leave, but she also didn't want to make Rosie uncomfortable in any way. rose harriet granger-weasley

Rosie hated that look in her friends eye when she figured out what Rosie was saying. She didn’t want the pity from anyone, it drove her crazy. She wasn’t someone to be pitied. Even though she usually would have reacted the same way when something like this would happen to someone else before. There was nothing pity would do. “No I’m fine. I already saw a healer and there wasn’t much they could do. But I’ve accepted it. Really. Im fine.” Rosie promised. She had already gone through trying to convince herself, and while it wasn’t ideal she was pretty sure that she was going to be okay and learn how to live with it. “I just want to try to find a new normal.” She explained.

Jess nodded when Rosie said she was fine, that she saw a healer and had everything figured out. "I'm glad you could see a healer," Jess said, trying to act normal. She didn't want to make Rosie feel uncomfortable or anything, though she figured she probably was. She nodded when Rosie said she wanted to find a normal. "Well maybe coming back to work would help with that ... do you have a date for when you'll be returning?" Jess didn't want to seem too hopeful, but she did miss her friend, more than she expected to. She shrugged, "Things at the Daily Prophet are the same as always. Sam is always late on his articles and the editors are always nagging him. He's good for a laugh though. Martha's finally stopped tripping whenever he walks by though. I think those two might be seeing one another now ..." Jess smiled at Rosie, hoping that maybe sharing a little gossip would help her friend feel a little better or included. rose harriet granger-weasley

Honestly, Rosie was just glad that Jess hadn’t run out of the room screaming when she told her what happened. She was still here. She didn’t seem too afraid of the vampire sitting next to her. She still saw Rosie as a person, and that meant the world to her. “I want to come back soon. Probably next week.” Rosie agreed. She hated not being at work, but at least she was still able to write at home. Rosie couldn’t help but laugh when Jess explained what was going on with some of the other reporters at the prophet. “well it’s about time.” it was nice to think about something so normal. “how have you been?” she didn’t want it to be all about her.

Jess smiled when Rosie admitted that she wanted to come back, hopefully next week. "I think I can make it that long,' Jess teased, sighing a little. She didn't want Rosie to feel bad for not being at work, but on the flip side she did want Rosie to know that she was missed, at least by Jess. Jess laughed along with Rosie as she commented that it was about time. Honestly, it took the two way too long to start dating. The whole office knew that they were into one another. When Rosie flipped the question back on her, Jess smiled. "I'm good. I don't really have a lot to report though. I spend most of my time either at work or with Fin," her smile widened as she thought of her boyfriend. "Everything is going well with both of those so I don't really know what else to say," she admitted. Jess knew she was luckier than most right now, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to enjoy it as long as she could before something came down to ruin it all. rose harriet granger-weasley

Jess admitted that she could wait until next week to have her work friend back and Rosie nodded happily, honestly, she was thrilled to know that she had been missed. She knew her editor was letting her take all the time that she needed, and she had been able to rewrite the story that she lost when she lost all of her luggage in Russia. But she had definitely missed the office. She even missed her little desk. “well go to lunch when I get back?” she asked. She and Jess went out often so Rosie expected there would be no problem with that request.
Jess admitted that she didn’t have much to report but just was working and spending time with her boyfriend, Fin. “we still need to all get together.” she reminded her. They were fairly sure their boyfriends would get along as well as they did. Rosie was excited at the idea of having couple friends for her and Brandon.

Jess grinned when Rosie suggested that they could go to lunch when she came back. "Whenever you want! I've missed our lunches." Not that the two went out to lunch all that often, but Jess was more than happy to spend her time with her friend. She even missed just seeing Rosie sitting across the room, or making faces at her when people were being silly in the office. There was normally quite a bit to laugh about, if you found the right kind of friend to laugh with. "Oh yes! We do need to do something together!" Jess agreed cheerfully. She didn't think Fin would care that Rosie was a vampire, not if Jess didn't care. He was understanding like that. "I can try to set that up, if you can let me know a time when you and Brandon aren't busy? I can talk with Fin about it." Now that Rosie brought it up, Jess actually wanted to make sure this happened. Also, she couldn't miss the wide smile on Rosie's face. She probably didn't have too much to smile about right now, so any way Jess could help her was a good thing. rose harriet granger-weasley
