Bernhard had two jobs for the day: first, to deliver the new plans for the Minister’s protection detail to all of the necessary personnel, and then he was to replace the other guard and go on duty for the remainder of the day. The schedule he had received earlier in the day indicated that there were going to be a number of meetings inside the Ministry in the morning, but once he was on there was only one left, and it was for a discussion amongst international leaders. He didn’t know what exactly they were going to be talking about, but it didn’t take a full-blown wizard to figure it out. These sorts of meetings had occurred a lot in the last month and they almost always led to more meetings or press releases, and then changes in the security detail, which he was then supposed to memorize until it was changed again. In his opinion, these were a lot easier to remember than Quidditch plays ever were, so all it took was a few hours of remembering plans to evacuate the Minister should X, Y, or Z happen. Easy enough.
Dropping off the memo in the Auror and Hit departments, Bernhard quickly made his way to his posting in the Minister’s main office, greeting the secretary and ruffled looking junior assistant that was always trailing behind him wherever the Minister went. Bernhard had no problem with the kid tagging along, but he constantly had to make it clear that if there was trouble, they would have to fend for themselves. He didn’t have time to think of protecting two people.
Confirming with the secretary that the Minister was indeed in her office, Bernhard gave a quick knock to show that he was entering and then opened the door. “Afternoon Minister Granger," he addressed her formally as he handed over the last copy of the memo to her. “Here are all the plans for the rest of the day. The department heads have been alerted in case we need them.”
