By a strange stroke of luck, Faye had somehow managed to have her classes for the week finished by Thursdays. Classless Fridays meant she could do whatever she wanted but already one month into the spring term and she was already starting to realize how boring it actually was. Her previous five years had always had at least one class for Fridays but sixth and seventh year allowed her to focus on what she wanted to take. And that meant classes could work out in this manner. To make it worse, she couldn’t even use the Quidditch Pitch to practice because there were lower level flying classes being held there throughout the day. She was starting to think it was an ancient form of magic determined to drive her crazy because literally none of her friends or classmates also had the last day of the week free.
Thus far, Faye had been reduced to sleeping in until lunch and then wandering the corridors looking for acquaintances in between their classes so that she could have some form of socialization without going crazy. They all thought having Fridays free was the coolest thing in the world and they always wished they could be her. That was great and all, but it only made her realize how terrible it actually was to be on her own for the start of a three day weekend every week.
Trying to turn Friday into a study and homework day didn’t help either because years of conditioning had forced her brain to only want to work during Sundays. Even forcing herself to sit quietly in the library was difficult, and today was no exception. Usually she didn’t recognize anyone when she went to the library, and the ones she did know would usher her away because she’d get too obnoxious around them while they tried to do their work.
She had decided to call it quits for the day because it was too quiet for her liking, when she spotted Edmund sitting alone at a table on the other side of the library. Her eyes immediately lit up as she skipped across the room and slammed her books on the table across from her Quidditch captain. “Edddd,” she elongated as she sat down. “Please save me from my boredom. They won’t even let me out on the pitch right now by myself.”
