With her flower crown created and sitting atop her head, Penelope was eager to continue her day at the Flower Festival. It was such a perfect escape from being at Hogwarts, now that spring had arrived… and she was seventeen—legally an adult! Everything was going well, and it was a relief; maybe everyone really could have a fun weekend without the drama and chaos that seemed to hang over magical Britain like a dark cloud.
As she walked towards some more of the flowers in the greenhouse to admire how pretty they were, she crossed paths with another girl in her year, Max Greyback, who was walking in the opposite direction as she was. Penelope smiled at the Slytherin as they passed one another, not thinking much of it at all, though she suddenly paused.
There was something about the other girl, Penelope thought, but she couldn't put a finger on it. She couldn't explain what it was, but she suddenly had a different feeling around Max. It wasn't an uncomfortable feeling, like the sense of foreboding she sometimes got because of just how many bad things had been happening, but it was almost as though her mind was alerting her that she was supposed to… take notice of Max, for some reason. Something, too, reminded her of… Kinsey?
It was weird, and Penelope tried to shake the sensation, but she just… couldn't, despite having no discernible reason for it. The feeling faded as Max got farther and farther away from her, though, so perhaps it was just her subconscious trying to mess with her somehow.
