31ST MARCH 2025
MERLIN. IT HADN’T EVEN BEEN six months since Calliope had obtained her last wand from that famous Ollivander’s store in Diagon Alley before she had gone off again and broken it. The breakage went unnoticed, considering how intoxicated the Fleming was and how much she hated her brother for allowing her to get there. In fairness, they did meet on the streets of Hogsmeade and not inside Hogs Head. He wasn’t allowed after all. Stupid child rules, Eli was legal! At least she thought so. It’s the best wand created! She remembered hearing from the owner and her son. What a load of bull. Thank God Cal was talented in something like wandless magic, but she knew with her different jobs, she would need a wand. Couldn’t have people knowing her talents after all. Twirling one half of the broken wand in her hand, the Fleming strolled down Horizon Alley, planning to head to Diagon after she ran her errands here. Familiar store signs caught the girl’s attention, until she passed by one store she didn’t notice at all. She did a double take, taking a few steps back to have an inspection. The window sported a ‘newly opened’ sign, while the outdoor decor showed its uniqueness.
”The Queen's Wands and Woodworks.” She read aloud, eyes gobbling up the title of the store. Was it Merlin’s luck that she had stumbled across the place? Calliope’s eyes shone bright with yellow hues to sport her excitement and she had to cough to blow out and stabilise her control with her ability. By then, eyes turned emerald green and her usual pale blonde hair colour soon trickled into a deep golden. What was she, a cartoon character? Stepping towards the door, a pale hand pushed forward, the sound of a welcoming bell triggering off above her. The place was fairly spacious, at least enough for the Fleming to curiously take a peek of things. There was a wall of wands, perhaps the owners best creations? And even equipment lying around. But she saw…No owner.
”Hello?” Cal decided to call out, her accent still heavy despite the odd year or two she had already spent in the United Kingdom. She hated it here when she first arrived, but since then as well as the opportunities she had and eventually…Dropped, the Fleming grew some kind of liking to it.

03.31.2025 Today was the first official day of her shop being open. The Queen’s Wands and Woodworks. It sounded super lame and beyond pretentious the more she ran it through her head, but the contracts and ownership papers were signed and under lock and key now. The amount of money it had cost to acquire a name for the store cost a fortune alone, not to mention the other expenses she had to dig deep into her Gringotts vault for. The one thing Veronica hadn’t done wrong was underpay her – somehow her wage as an apprentice had been beyond livable and the cost of her old apartment barely scraped at that for rent. To save costs even more, she had decided to rent out both floors of the building. The upstairs was now her apartment and the majority of the last month had been spent making it as quaint as possible. It wasn’t terrible because before she had been crafting wands in her living room when she wasn’t at Ollivander’s. At least now she had a workshop in the back of the first floor, and the front was the dedicated shop, albeit a small one.
It would never reach the scale or stock of her family’s store, but that wasn’t what Nell was going for. She wanted her own place for her wands and her self-expression. The side wall had been stocked with other things she had spent hand making over the years – a few quilts finally finished with the smart purchase of a quick knitting set, key hooks for house entryways, a small bookshelf, and even a finished self-rocking rocking chair. The latter was her favorite, aside from her wands. Her crown jewel of woodworking and charms combined. The idea was that she would try to supplement her wandmaking business with custom orders of the other things she was capable of making. There were a lot of strange furniture stores in the Alley districts, but she was pretty sure she could get a cornerstone on her craft. Nothing she made was a feat of engineering, bar the wands, and it wouldn’t take her long to put together whatever a person wanted. It wasn’t like she had anything else to do. Plus, making a good impression early on would help with business.
With opening weekend in the books and a few sales in her non-wand related items, she was hoping it wouldn’t be slow until September. She knew what Ollivander’s looked like in the off season and it was sort of scary. The current goal was to restock the items she had already sold, in the off chance that word of mouth turned out to be positive for them, and then to continue accruing new wands. Several dozen new ones had been made over the last two months since she left Ollivander’s, adding to her tiny collection that had been collecting dust for a couple of years, waiting anxiously for their turn to be put on a shelf to be purchased. They finally had their chance now that Veronica wasn’t hovering over her shoulder controlling every aspect of her work.
She was hidden away in the workshop behind the counter, peeling open a new delivery of wood that was to be used for her furniture when she heard the bell above the door jingle. It took her a second to remember that it meant she had to help them. With Ollivander’s, she was either in the back room slaving away on some menial task for her sister or had to be stationed at the counter. She had never had full control to herself. “Be right with you!” she called over her shoulder as she pushed the new pallet of wood up against a wall that had free space.
Quickly using her hands to brush off pieces of loose wood and saw dust, she ran down the short hallway and entered the storefront, pulling off her work apron as she did so. “What can I help you with today?” she asked, probably a little to eagerly and with more energy than she normally would. Nell secretly hoped it was for a wand, because she was already starting to get tired of people overlooking her masterpieces. They deserved the attention more than her stupid quilts and keepsake boxes!

THE SOUND OF A VOICE nearby was enough for Calliope to remain calm, glad that she hadn’t actually stumbled into a store that was empty and the store-owner had left the door unlocked. It was a relief, and from the sound of the voice, the owner was a woman? Even better. Calliope hadn’t really been struck with much eye candy in the passing weeks, especially since she had been taking more of an active appearance in the Black Market area. There, her appearance was entirely different, ugly to others eyes, which was…probably the reason why she never saw anyone cute. Regardless, the Fleming felt silly for standing in the open, broken wand in hand until the silhouette came closer, revealing the woman who was only slightly shorter than her. Emerald eyes scanned the mess on the work apron while her lips worked up a smile, hoping the woman’s services had an available slot for an idiot like her.
Raising her hands with the broken wand, she presented it over to the brunette, a breath of a laugh leaving her lips. ”I was a complete idiot and uh…Broke my wand.” She couldn’t even explain how the breakage occurred, considering she was drunk out of her mind when it happened. It was Eli who realised it, and while he was on his merry little way back to Hogwarts, Calliope was only breaking her wand a little more. ”That lady down in Ollivander’s said it’s the best wand I’d ever have when I got it back in January. Bloody load of bull.” She added, rolling her eyes at the recollection. Though, she had to crack a grin at her own words, the English lingo had caught on easily with her unlike Elijah and their younger brother. While most of the Fleming’s had hope to return to LA, Cal knew she had no plans on leaving Europe anytime soon. ”Is there anyway to get this repaired? Or is it beyond that…” From the looks of it, it was most certainly beyond repair.

03.31.2025 The girl standing on the other side of the counter lifted up her hands when Nell asked what she could help her with, and produced a wand, snapped clean in half. She didn’t even need to hear an explanation from the customer on where the wand had been purchased from; it was clearly an Ollivander make just from the way it was crafted. Holding back a scoff at what her sister had told the girl upon purchase, Nell took the two pieces from her and looked it over carefully, feeling the break on both ends with her fingers and seeing if anything from it was possibly salvageable. If it had snapped vertically, then its new home would be the rubbish bin out back. Still, even with this sort of break it would be tough… “I can say for a fact that the lady at Ollivander’s wasn’t wrong. It is a good wand. Honeysuckle with unicorn hair, right?” Nell asked, looking up at the girl. She knew she was right because she had made the wand two years earlier. The carving was her handiwork after all. Veronica was too bourgeoisie for something like this. “The problem though, is it’s obviously snapped in half. The core is useless now, so even if I do repair the wood, a new core has to be placed in it anyways. That means you’d be without a wand for a little while.”
Posing such an ultimatum was always difficult to do because she had to make it sound like she had the ability to fix the wand, but that the easier route would be to simply buy a new one. “Normally I would suggest taking it back to the maker for a fix like this, since they know their craft better than anyone else and could possibly repair it. But it sounds like you’ve given up on Ollivander’s...” She wanted to pin the blame on Veronica even though this was one of her own wands and that the damage was clearly caused by the girl and not from some defect in the make. There would be a lot more damage on it if a spell backfired or malfunctioned. “So it’s up to you. I can certainly fix it, but it’ll cost more since I’m a smaller wandmaker and there’s no guarantee that it’ll behave the same way it used to. Once a wand has accrued trauma like that, it usually remembers. Or I can show you the wands I have and see if one fits better.”

CALLIOPE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW A wand could break like this. Whatever damage she had done must have been extreme considering the split between the two halves was clean, and surely the woman before her, who had taken the pieces to analyse had thought the same. ”Right!” She said, responding to the woman’s question. But her following statement only brought a small frown to her lips and deep blue strands creeped up, appearing against Calliope’s vibrant golden hair colour. There were moments the Metamorphmagi couldn’t help her emotions from taking over her control of her ability, and this moment was one of them. Sure, the wand was a simple wand, easily replaceable with a new one butt it was the first wand she had…purchased herself, without relying on her father. She felt oddly sentimental with it. ”Ah…I see.” Being without a wand for a while wasn’t entirely a problem for the Flleming, since she was skilled in enough wandless magic to continue her days like normal, but it was always better to have a wand with her.
”Completely given up on that place. Whatever-her-face-is, was incredibly rude when I was there? And some kid who looked like he had just gotten out of school was whittling wood? Is that even allowed?” Calliope sighed then, folding her arms as she considered her choices. Give up a wand she felt happy purchasing back during the time, or get a new one? When she was feeling better? ”If it needs a new core I don’t think it’s worth fixing.” She concluded, dropping her arms by her side. ”Though, these wands you say you have, already have my interest. Do you have many?”

03.31.2025 The sense of satisfaction when ‘guessing’ correctly on the girl’s wand was insane, considering it made her look more put together than she normally was. Talking up her skill with the customers was only half the battle, while getting them to test out and buy wands was the second half. So far it was looking like she was winning on the new wand, and the mention of Veronica and Ollivander’s elicited a strange color change in the girl’s hair. Nell had seen a few metamorphmagi over the years, but never one with that much of a fluctuation. It would be easy to read her reactions, like she was an open book. Hopefully. The girl continued on, explaining that she was giving up on Ollivander’s, and that the lady there was rude. And even let a small boy work on wands! Nell let out a chuckle, knowing full well which day the girl was talking about now, because Gideon had only been in the shop a few days in January, before going back to Hogwarts. The kid was pretty damn good at carving though, she had to give him that. “It’s allowed when he’s the next in line for ownership. The Ollivander’s have this whole generational thing they do. Not the most interesting thing in the world, but their wands are usually of higher quality and people come from all over to buy them,” Nell shrugged. She didn’t need to defend Veronica anymore, but it was still her family and the store built upon by her ancestors. Tossing that aside was like forsaking her namesake altogether. “I have a couple dozen or so,” she responded, stepping aside so that the wall of wands was more visible. Each had its own box, just like Ollivander’s, the details of the make and core, and the date and wandmaker were all labeled on the front. “I have a few that are good all-around for higher level magic, and those that are more specific to your…style, I guess is the right way to put it. Do you use it a lot for work? And if so, what kind of spells are you normally casting?” Looking over the boxes as she waited for a response, Nell plucked one off of the shelf and placed it in front of the girl, gently sliding the top off and holding it out for her to take it. “For starters, this is Acacia wood with a hippogriff feather. It’s sort of unyielding, so if you can’t cast anything don’t feel bad. To be fair, it only makes sparks for me, and I’ve worked on and handled a lot of different wands.”

EYES WIDENED AT THE WOMAN’S response, people simply allowed the next generation of children to just start working...when they were children? Calliope couldn’t imagine picking up a job way before her eighteenth birthday, simply because she knew her father wouldn’t allow it. Her mother...If she were around — would have probably considered it, even though it was completely and utterly ridiculous. ”My younger brother told me about them. Said he had gotten his — that our father paid for — from Ollivanders. I don’t even know much about different wands, even though I’ve had what felt like a million already,” Items that were easy to break, lose or potentially be stolen from weren’t capable for the Fleming to maintain and look after, all except...magical creatures and animals. They had her attention no matter the situation. ”You seem to know a lot about them. The Ollivanders...Tough competition I’m guessing?”
Cal watched as the woman stepped over, allowing the Metamorphmagi to see more of the store wands than she was able to before. The wands had different colour woods, some with detailed carvings and some with rather simple designs, but Merlin were they pretty. Cal’s eyes lit up at the sight of them, and she stepped forward slightly to look further at the boxes of each of them. When asked if she used her wand a lot for work, Cal’s brow furrowed. For her legal and day-job, absolutely, sometimes wandless magic wasn’t enough for the records she had to rearrange, archive and pull out whenever it needed updating. So, she nodded. ”Nothing extreme I suppose, just spells to help out with stupid records and such.” Her wand proved to be handy whenever she was required to enter the smaller storage space St Mungo’s had, and considering the Fleming’s fear of tight closed spaces, it was always handy. Her more...illegal side of business was where her wand proved to be mostly useful, she would use all sorts of spells to entice customers, selling the contraband given to her and end her day with most of it gone. It was the magic that kept the clients interested that got her the sales and that was all down to her wand.
The woman then pulled up a creation of her own, Acacia wood with a Hippogriff feather. If Calliope actually paid attention back in school, she would’ve known the differences in woods and cores. Aside from the ones she already knew, she simply just thought most woods and cores were the same in the end. ”I don’t think I’ve ever...Had an unyielding wand before.” Calliope then realised the way the woman held the wand was so she could take it into her own grasp, see how she felt and perhaps try and cast a spell. So why on Merlin’s grave did she feel so nervous? Her hand hesitated as she reached out, but pulling some confidence out of somewhere, she reached forward, holding the wand in her hand. It felt nice, with its carvings and the overall grip. But the next test was...Would it make sparks the same way it did for the woman? She held it out in front of her, trying to find the nearest thing to practice upon until she saw it. The smallest shard of wood on a nearby counter. A child’s spell of Wingardium Leviosa shouldn’t hurt for practice!

03.31.2025 Utilizing context clues from the girl’s accent and the fact that a younger sibling had to buy a wand from Ollivander’s, Nell immediately knew she was talking about one of the kids that had to transfer from the American school. That had been a few stressful months getting wands prepped and ready to go. A huge strain had been placed on their supply of wands, which normally had a small flux and flow during that time of year, and she had scrambled with Veronica to put as many together as possible before the Americans arrived in droves. Even their dad had dusted off his tools and partook in the wandmaking, which was something he very rarely did these days. Watching him craft was a treat, his style far surpassing anything even Veronica could do at her current stage in her career. Her sister was more interested in making money and turning out carbon copies of wands that seemed to work. Nell preferred the artistic side of the business. “You could say that,” Nell answered in regards to the Ollivanders. “That’s my older sister and nephew. You were spot on with your description though. Couldn’t have said it better myself.” Veronica really needed more tact when it came to customers. Nell could only imagine how unhinged she had to be now that her personal punching bag left the shop. Probably losing business daily.
The girl indicated that her work typically required spells for records, which Nell assumed meant lots of charm use and more nuanced spell work. The acacia wand she had just handed over certainly wasn’t the one for that, and as she watched the girl attempt a spell on a piece of wood in the corner of the store, Nell wasn’t surprised to see nothing happen. While part of her job was to pair an appropriate wand to the witch or wizard, she also had to be aware of which one fit. A customer could try a dozen wands and half could produce the same result, but only one truly fit perfectly. This one, unfortunately, was not the one.
“Well, I don’t think this unyielding one is for you,” Nell said rather bluntly, patting the counter so that the girl would put the wand back in its box. “But it’s okay, I have plenty of others that would suit your type of work.” Humming to herself as her eyes scanned the wall of wand boxes, Nell gently pulled two more off of the shelf, placing each on the countertop next to the previous box. “This one,” she pointed to the box on her left, “is Hawthorn with fairy wings in its core. It’s a stiffer wand, but is built to work with charms and hexes, so that’s sort of necessary. The one thing I’d say about it is that wands with fairy wings don’t like it when they have owners that waver on their ideologies. So if that doesn’t sound like you, don’t pick it up.” Nell liked to think that was a fair enough warning. The last thing she needed was her only fairy wing wand to backfire and explode in someone’s face. It would be a great start to her wand sales. Pointing at the box on the right, she continued, “And this is ebony with phoenix feather.” She pulled it out of its case, the pitch black wood showing impressively in her pale hands. “It’s one of my personal favorites right now. As long as you trust it, it will do whatever you want it to.”

THE FLEMING REMEMBERED WHEN ALL wands were lost in Ilvermorny, especially in the midst of their transfers and the amount of Ilvermorny children needed new wands. Luckily…Calliope had graduated months before Ilvermorny’s troubles. But still, there was no harm in having a new wand! Sometimes new was better. And that’s what Calliope had definitely concluded when she broke her own wand. In disbelief though, the Metamorphmagi’s eyes widened, strands of her hair taking on a deep green colour from her surprise. ”Did you use to work with them?” She asked, even though it wasn’t necessary information. ”It must feel weird for you. Being with them and now rivalling against them. Or maybe it feels good…”’
Nothing happened though with the wand that the woman handed over. As expected. Calliope had always heard the phrase that the wand chose its owner and not the other way around. Thankfully, the woman had dozens to look upon. And considering how empty it had been originally, Calliope hoped she didn’t mind. Listening to the woman, the Fleming’s hand stretched out, returning the unyielding one back to its box. She turned, watching the woman scour through the collection of wand boxes on the wall, amazed by the amount she had already for someone who just seemed to be starting out. As the woman explained about the wand with the Hawthorn wood and fairy wings in its core, Calliope was interested! Until she let the woman finish her sentence. ”I tend to be…A wavering person so…That wouldn’t be best for me.” It was good the woman had warned her about it, fairy wings seemed to be interesting.
The pitch black wand was enough to get Calliope’s interest the minute she settled her eyes on it. It looked elegant and the core was something she knew. ”It’s beautiful.” She said as eyes observed it, strands of her hair turning a dark violet. Merlin, she liked it.

03.31.2025 Another change in hair color in the customer was all Nell needed to tell that the girl’s interest was piqued. The fact that she could be read like an open book was almost comical but also extremely fascinating at the same time. Nell couldn’t help but wonder if that could cause problems with people, since the girl tended to show her emotions so openly with her hair changes. If it had been her eyes changing color, a much less noticeable and subtle change in hue, then she could probably get away with it. But this was something else entirely.
“I apprenticed under her for the last…” Nell counted on her fingers because she had forgotten how long it had actually been. “Seven years? And my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all showed me the basics of it growing up. Sort of happens with a family legacy to uphold or whatever.” Merlin, if she sounded any more bitter, her ancestors would start rolling over in their graves. Veronica had done her job, somewhat. It could have been better of course, but she did a decent job at expanding Nell’s knowledge of running a shop and handling customers. That was invaluable information that she wouldn’t have gotten if she stayed sequestered in the workshop all day. While that option was preferable to her, putting on a smile and grinning through potential customers was the only way she would make any sort of profit. If Veronica could do that, then she could too. “It’s nice to do what I want with my wands. Ollivander’s has a strict way of doing things with their wandmaking. I like having the choice to make what I want.” Artistic freedom, or something along those lines. That was how she had convinced herself to leave in the first place.
The girl indicated that she did indeed waver, and Nell quickly placed the lid back onto the box that contained the fairy wing wand. “Nothing wrong with that. But it’s best that you don’t touch this one. You would probably make it explode if you did.” It would be fine in the end though, because the ebony wand had drawn the girl’s attention, eliciting another change in hair color. “It’s a tenacious wand, so it could probably outlive whatever you were doing to snap your old one,” Nell commented. “Give it a wave.”

EYES WIDENED AT THE REVEAL and soon Calliope’s smile had been replaced with a frown. Seven long years under someone you pretty much hated? She feared the worst in her own current state, working as a records keeper, something she hated doing and the side-hustle within the Black Market…She didn’t hate, but most definitely preferred it over her day job. In fairness, it was a family legacy, so she could see why the girl stayed so long under the hands of her controlling sister, but being a record keeper was no legacy of her own. ”Holy shit!” She originally exclaimed. ”Seven years? That’s a long time to grow hatred for someone.” She commented, more so a joke, but she wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what each year tallied up.
”Kind of the same with all major stores I suppose. Some people wanna do things differently but don’t have the freedom to do so.” And Calliope wanted to do something other than file records in such a closed off space all day but given the bills, the lack of work her father had found and his meaningless threats…Fun in employment was something she would never find. ”But I’m glad you’ve found your muse with your new store!” Calliope didn’t even know this woman, but yet she was nothing but happy for her.
Calliope’s eyes widened briefly until the owner returned the lid on the box. Exploding wands sounded rather cool, but the Fleming didn’t want to destroy any chance at the wandmakers future sales. Calliope reached out for the dark wand, giving it ‘a wave’ like the girl had suggested. Easily she watched the thing she had once wanted to lift, lift out of no where. Ah, like the simple reminder when Calliope had first attempted magic. She loved it. ”I’m sold. Easily, and already.”

▲ The girl’s disbelief in how long Nell had apprenticed under her sister was once again not far off the mark from how she felt about it herself. Seven years of slaving away under Veronica’s puppet strings was probably more than most people could handle. Not even her ex-brother-in-law could take it. No matter what had been said of her sister’s marriage to him, Nell always had her own thoughts on what really caused that to end. The poor man had no idea what he had gotten himself into. Or maybe he did. Regardless, her sister’s core personality traits had always been the same and Nell felt like she and her other siblings had been dancing around to Veronica’s tune for far too long just to keep the angry beast in check. “I wouldn’t go as far to say I hate her,” Nell rebuked, though it didn’t even sound all that convincing in her head. “I dislike the way she runs the business. Despite what some wandmakers believe, the business is growing stagnant. There’s very little innovation these days, and my sister is the type to not see it until unless it walks up and slaps her in the face,” she shrugged. That was the truth, unfortunately, and Nell had failed in those seven years to make her understand exactly what could happen if the market for wands suddenly crashed. A lack of phoenix heathers or ebony wood could spell doom for someone like Veronica Ollivander. Nell nodded her head in agreement as the girl added on a bit about having the freedom to do what she wanted. Exactly! That’s what this was all about, after all. Even if her store failed, at least she tried. She wouldn’t go crawling back to Veronica though. That would be like admitting defeat. Her sister had done enough for her already, and Nell didn’t need to go back unless the store absolutely needed her there. “The hope is that she’ll finally understand that I don’t want to take her store from her. I’m thinking this place will do a decent enough job of proving that to her.” She had no idea why she was blabbering on to a customer about this, but it was a relief nonetheless. Nobody else had been around to listen to it, and her parents had had enough of it years ago, always telling her to ignore Veronica and buckle down and do her work. Somehow that was supposed to pay off, but it ended up here. The girl seemed intrigued by the new wand and did as Nell ordered – a quick wave and the object that was the target of the levitation charm did just that: levitated. Impressed by how smooth the cast and spell ended up, she moved the wand’s box across the table. “To be honest, I didn’t think selling my first wand here was going to happen this quickly. You have the honors of being the first Miss…” she trailed off, realizing that she had never asked the girl her name, and deciding at the same time that she would let her answer for herself. CALLIOPE COULDN’T IMAGINE WORKING UNDER someone for the same boring position for seven whole years. She wanted to comfort the woman, to make jokes that if they ever went back in time she would convince her to leave otherwise but time was a finicky thing when it came to magic. ”Let me guess…You pitched in some ideas and she disregarded them?” It was a wild assumption, but Cal had faced something similar too. She wanted to focus on her own career as a magizoologist and especially after moving to England so her brothers could finish their education…
It was safe to say she was probably better off, back home in the States. Her father was a low-life now, dictating lives he had no say in but believed he did. Cal fit the criteria perfectly while her brothers were away. ”Oh she’s that kind of obsessed…” Cal murmured. ”On the brink of insanity that everyone’s trying to take her pride possession away?” She wished her father was somewhat like that, instead he used the fact that he provided a roof over her head as leverage to picking a better job. How unfortunate.
The wand in Calliope’s hand had the Fleming at the first sight. From its carved edges right down to the colour. Cal knew she was sold the moment the object began levitating. ”I’m the first?” She somewhat repeated, hand moving over to her chest in delight. But then Cal realised that the girl was hinting for her name. ”Ah— Calliope! Please do call me Cal…But I’m honoured to be your first sale. My brother’s in need of a new wand too — not that he knows it yet — but I was more immediate.” Especially since she…snapped it.

▲ Containing the sarcastic laugh that escaped from her when the girl asked about the reason for the disagreements with Veronica was impossible. If only the entire situation with her older sister was that simple. Nell could probably go on and on, maybe even tell a few stories of epic length, about how and why she didn’t see eye to eye with her sister on even the most fundamental levels of wandmaking. And that was just with the business. There were equally lengthy tales about growing up and how being a ten years younger meant she was always going to be treated as a child by Veronica, no matter how old she was. The feeling of being looked down on by her own mentor was bad enough, having it shoved in her face in such an obvious manner from a young age by her own sibling was infinitely worse. That was a lot more than she felt like dumping onto a customer that was on the verge of buying the shop’s first wand. “To keep it short, yes. The Ollivanders have had a specific quality level and formula to their wands for the last century, and she’s more adamant than any us at keeping it that way. Maybe even taking it to an extreme level with some parts of it.” Like only trying to create wands of the highest potential, something a beginner or someone with a more nuanced job could never use. Not every wand needed to be one that could blow apart a building or win every duel. “Something like that. I just wanted her to name me an official wandmaker at the store so that I could take more responsibility and give her a break every now and then, but she didn’t see it that way,” Nell shrugged. “It’s my nephew’s inheritance in the end anyways. I was never in line for it to begin with.” The only way that would happen now was if Veronica kicked the bucket and Gideon revoked his inheritance. At that point, she would probably go back if her dad didn’t take over first. His stint in the store had been a short one, but not short enough to make a killing for his early retirement. The money was good after all, and taking over the stock of wands there was almost like printing an endless stream of money. Nell had a hard time refuting that fact when it really came down to it. Cal was an easy enough name to remember, and Nell nodded her head as the girl repeated that she was indeed, the first buyer of a wand at the store. She had repeated to herself over and over in her head that if she made wands, people would eventually take notice and start buying them. Supplementing her true passion with her other skills had simply been a way to pique interest in what else she could create. If customers enjoyed the furniture she made, someone would look at a wand at some point too. The carefully crafted plan had worked! “I can’t promise I’ll have the one for him, but he can certainly look when he needs it. If not, there’s always Ollivanders.”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

CALLIOPE HAD ONLY ASSUMED THE worst for the young shop owner but seemed…To nailed it all on the head. The tips of the Fleming’s hair took on a magenta shade while a light red flush came across her face. ”I see…Safe to assume…That’s a crazy family you have there…” The Fleming felt herself smile small then, considering the bar of crazy had always been set high for her family since her mother’s disappearance but even then. The Ollivanders just took the winning position of crazy.
”Oh…” Calliope immediately felt bad at pressing more into the situation, especially now the young Ollivander was alone against them. ”I’m…Sorry to hear that.” Overstepping boundaries and talking too much had been one of Calliope’s many wishes and curses, but as their conversation continued, the Fleming decided maybe it wasn’t so bad for the girl. Working under her family had proved it wouldn’t work out and now she was here with her own store. She had potential! And Calliope wanted to help her in every way she could, even if she only knew the woman for an hour or so.
Shaking her head at the woman’s response, Calliope forced a wider smile onto her lips to continue on the cheery vibe. ”Don’t be silly..! With the collection you have so far I’m sure there’s something here for him. He’s had to go to Ollivanders too many times these past few months and especially with him graduating soon…He’ll probably want something fresh.”
